- Not only did we finally finish our 1000+whp MK3 Volkswagen GTI drag car, we also made it to our first tack event with it. We were able to test most things on the car, and now that we have some data were ready to head back to the track to start dialing it in.

Looks sick reminds me of Strictly European Motors Red GTI they built back in the day for the track i think it was 9 seconds 1/4 mile car had traction issues to go faster. I mentioned to them 20+ years ago install tracking arms so they dont flex and move forwards to help it hook and it did... love the show one day it woukd be fantastic to meet you. Happy fathers day gentlemen!!!

It seems that the transition between 1st and 2nd is too long so that the engine almost chokes on 2nd. Maybe 2nd should have a slightly lower gear?
That's not what's actually happening. 1st is very long, and what's happening in these runs is the tires spinning for a while, and then traction control brings the engine down too aggressively which takes too much power out causing it then to bog. It's all just in tuning, which requires seat time and data to correct. This was a good start.

Last thing I will add. I painted my MK2 Silver Midden Pearl. It was the paint of the 99 Mtsu GSX. You know what make the back of the car? Crystal clear M3 red/white taillights. I wonder if you find a pair for the drag car under $2k lol
What can I do to get around 300-350whp reliably in my mk7 1.8t. (Has exaust, intake, stage 1 tune)

How did the air brake spoiler work out?
I only had one run where I had any decent mph (145mph) and I didn't pull the chute and it felt awesome, honestly. However I need more seat time to make a proper opinion.

I let out mid track as you can see in the runs, this was short track testing.

There is no aftermarket head options. Just CNC ported. And I don't believe L or R hand drive matters when it comes to the actual cylinder head.

Nope. O6A bottom end (1.8t stuff), with 16v head.

Question... What do you guys think about the Blue Gates RPM timing belts? 1.8t 20 valve stock tensioner set up, daily. Also with IE rods, Brian Crower valves and Supertech springs and retainers, should easily be able to withstand 8000 rpm right?
They're fine used with manual tensioner.

It was very low on priority list compared to what was needed to go race. With that said there's a few things left to paint, they'll be done before next event.

That's sad... my 2nd car was a mk3. Now I'm 40 and I have a supercharged 2.0 jetty and the one I always wanted when I was young a 95 gti vr6. Unpopular opinion, I think the golf frontend looks the best. Car looks and sounds great guys... some of the only mk3 racing content I've seen.

@@COMotorsports The 5 is when i gave up on them and got out of the car scene in general. Then the 7 came out and they saved VW with it i believe. But the 5 GTI has grown on me a bit over the last couple years.
