Thank you ❤
I love your use of embroidered cloth. I have in the past regretted paring a cream with a white toned fabric. I love that jacket but the colours do haunt me. I love your top and I love the bag combo you have planned. Its so lovely to see you again ❤
Thank you so much for watching! I am still considering the gingham lining - I'm not quite sure it is right! It is lovely to be back on UA-cam!
Looking forward to seeing how the denim dress turns out 💙 The white smocking on that lovely dark green is so striking. I think little bits of red will look great, what a cute border print!
Isn't it such a sweet border print! I am looking forward to getting it made up soon.
I’ll definitely be checking out the Childrens Corner patterns - thanks for mentioning that they come with all the sizes printed. It drives me bonkers when I have to trace to not sacrifice the bigger size!
It drives me nuts too! They are definitely more traditional patterns, but I really love sewing them so much!
Yay .. so glad you are back.. I tell everyone I know to watch you .. Your sewing etc is beautiful
Thank you so much, that is so kind of you!
Love the border print on the smocked dress. I love how you don’t have to trace CC patterns.
Isn't it great!!
Looking forward to seeing your tote bag. The blue waxed cotton looks like British Millerain fabric which is made in Yorkshire - I've made a few bags from this fabric and it is beautiful to work with.
That's exactly what it is! I am glad it is a nice fabric to work with. I am so looking forward to getting started on that project - I really need the bag!
Yay!!!! I was excited to see a video from you this morning. Such beautiful makes in progress to start off the new year! I had wondered how big the collar for the 70's jumpsuit would be...now I know. I love it! So glad you showed that. Your dress will look great! Nice to be able to try on a ready to wear garment and make it to suit your own body. Your daughter's dress is *in a sing songy voice.....goooorgeous! 😍 I didn't realize that The Children's Corner patterns included every size individually. How awesome is that?! I lways enjoy seeing the knitted garments. I don't knit, but wish I did. 🤗
Thank you Katrina! I am so glad I made a version for myself of the denim dress. I'm really enjoying the smocking too - lovely and relaxing in the evenings!
Love the gingham combo for the vest!
Thank you!
I love your smocking,it is so beautiful. I, personally, don't like the gingham with the tablecloth fabric.I don't think the gingham enhances the tablecloth fabric. Have you thought of making the tablecloth fabric into a skirt? Depending on the shape of the tablecloth you fold it to find the centre. You then treat it as a circle skirt and either cut out a circle to fit or much larger than your waist. If you choose it to fit your waist you cut up the back to make a back seam to insert a zip.If it is larger you can either attach a wide pretty elastic or gather or pleat it to make a waist to fit and to go over your hips.I have made skirts like this and even made capes with heavier weight fabric as it uses all of the beauty of the tablecloth.
I love the idea of turning it into a circle skirt, sadly the tablecloth is much too small - too small even for my daughter sadly. But I would have loved to turn it into a skirt as that would be a beautiful way to really see all the gorgeous embroidery.
Lovely to see you back. We are “enjoying” Covid in our household for the 2nd time.☹so it’s nice to watch your cheery posting. Looking forward to all your upcoming makes. The material and design you have chosen for your daughter’s dress is beautiful.🦘🇦🇺
Oh no! I hope you aren't feeling to horrid - it's the time of year for it isn't it! Hope you feel much better soon.
Very nice to see you your plans sound wonderful the denim dress is looking fab cant wait to see your plans 😊
Thank you so much Robyn. I am really looking forward to getting the denim dress finished so I can wear it!
Happy New Year Amelia, love all your plans, your daughter's dress is going to be absolutely gorgeous☺
Thank you! Happy New Year to you too.
Lovely to see you back Amelia. Another great vlog, I’m looking forward to seeing all your finished makes. Happy New Year to you and your family 🎉
Thank you! Happy New Year to you too!
Happy new year from NZ. Great to see you back and I’m looking forward to seeing your makes this year. Love all these projects in the pipeline.
Thank you so much for watching. I am looking forward to sharing these makes soon! Happy new year to you too!
Happy New Year Amelia. Can I say that I really did enjoy watching your shorts vlogs during vlogmas.
That denim dress looks really interesting and I'm intrigued to see that tablecloth transformation. But that dress for your daughter is going to be beautiful 😍
Thank you so much Annette, I am really glad you enjoyedthe Vlogmas shorts. I am feeling a bit nervous about cutting into the tablecloth, but looking forward to giving it a go!
Happy new year Amelia to you and your family. Oh my goodness you are so talented. The fabric for your daughters dress is beautiful. Along Avec Anna have gorgeous yarns, i have just purchased her Colourwork book. Thank you for sharing your video.
Thank you so much Mary, you are very kind! I am really enjoying knitting the Along Avec Anna pullover. A lovely easy project on these winter evenings!
Yay, you’re back! Happy 2024 to you Amelia. Thanks for your wee Vlogmas clips, which I’m sure took lots of work at such a busy time of the year for you. But gosh, they sure were delightful!
Thank you so much Kate. I am so glad you enjoyed them!
It’s lovely to have you back and Happy New Year! I’m loving the denim dress hack recreation, can’t wait to see the finished garment. The fabric and smocking for your daughter’s dress is just adorable. I only started sewing 3 years ago by which time my daughter was 6 so I missed out on all the cute little dresses. I’ve added shirring to my plans for this year but maybe I should look into smocking too? Thank you for the inspiration.
Thank you! I'm enjoying the denim dress and think it will be great for the rest of winter! I love to smock for myself too - its so much fun!
The Knitted along avec Anna pullover must be fate. It came up on my radar yesterday, albeit in someone’s fails video, but that was because of the texture of the mohair so can’t wait to get your opinion. I’m on a bit of a sock mission evening knitting at the moment but that may be next ❤
So interesting to hear about the mohair! I am finding it fine to knot with, just hope it won't feel itchy at the end!!
Happy New Year! Looks like a great start for some nice makes.
I’m really curious what your luck will be on the Olea shirt. I was very excited about it and ended up being very disappointed with it. I feel the construction is lacking and leaves some very weak points and fussy points. I was never able to get the bottom sleeve arm scythe to align properly. Partially this was because I was trying to do French or fell seams. The instructions are not clear - I suggest going to the online tutorial when you get to the yoke/sleeve construction.. Before I give the pattern away, I’d like to see someone else’s experience.
I'm really nervous about making it after seeing so many less than positive reviews. Hoping Lauren's tips video will get me through the construction as I love the look of the finished shirt.
@@sewamelia I would suggest using a piece of woven fusible interfacing at the corner of the yoke in the seam (1/4” strip in snap of a square…like the tool). I wouldn’t do French seams or fell seams, but just serge the edges or use binding on seams. I would top stitch the front seam and the yoke to reinforce the weak joints. It is a cute shirt and if I manage to get it finished soon, I’ll post on Instagram to show how I reinforced the pocket. I top stitched the pocket so it would lay flat. I’m going to add a button and bar tack near corners of pocket. You’re an accomplished sewer. You’ll be able to do it, you just might question the construction.
Is the slipover pattern digital? it is so lovely. I think that gingham is perfect with the tablecloth.
Thank you! I think it will look lovely in the Spring. The slipover pattern is a digital pattern.
Wondering if you got something sewn up the lovely quilted fabric in the sort of a paisley print that you got from Joanne's? I've gotten some quilted fabric just last week from Joanne's(not the same print) and have been undecided what to make with it. Love your video.
I did, and I love it! Will share all the details next week!
YAY! I WILL BE WATCHING FOR SURE.@@sewamelia 🥰
