Thanks for sharing your jumper/cardi patterns. I do love the Juniper cardi - I've made a few. I invested in a coverstitch and it does give a lovely professional finish, especially if you sew lots with knits, particuarly kids clothes. Thanks again and I love all of the pink 😻💕
I am lucky enough to have recieved a coverstitch for my birthday. I am so looking forward to trying it out and seeing how it improves the finish on my knit makes!
I sew a great deal for myself and for costumes, I love my cover stitch machine. The professional look of the finish elevates my sewing and also allows me to alter store-bought things. Since you sew knits and sew them often, I think you would like one!

It was such a fun video to film and I am really glad you enjoyed it! We have just come back from a holiday to Texas and we loved the hot weather, but it was definitely not sweater weather! We have come back to chilly London, so the sweaters are back on again now. 😊

Your cosy pink jumper is gorgeous. Really enjoy these vlogs where you share your observations of making a variety of same garments. Very helpful in understanding the style and fit. Just about to make the Deer & Doe Ondee so grateful to hear your thoughts on it. Have made several Jarrah’s and find it an excellent basic sweater.

I love these vlogs Amelia great insight into choosing sizing for the cosy sweaters. Very helpful. Love your Jarrah although the Toaster is my go to long sweater. I do have a Janome 2000 Coverpro coverstitch and I think you would love it. It is just so easy to use and gives a very professional finish. I did however get the Stitch Sisters tutorial for it which was invaluable. Hope you have a lovely week.

Hi Amelia, I have just watched to the bit where you show the tip sewing the ribbing together and felt I had to tell you my way ☺️ It’s even better if I might say so myself and I have done it this way since forever. You just sew the band together with a straight stitch on your ordinary machine and press the seam open. It works on kids clothes as well, never brakes, and no bulk.
Now for the rest of the video! ☺️❤️
I love that way too! I think I just like using the overlocker to make sure everything stays secure. :)

Great vlog thanks. I do a fair amount of sewing with jersey and decided to invest in a Coverstitch. I bought the Janome CoverPro 2000cpx and absolutely love it. It just gives a lovely finish to my clothes and you have the choice of one, two or three needles. I generally use one for neckbands and two for hems and cuffs.

As you said ‘It’s a lot of pink’, I was thinking that it was such a lovely colour on you ! You have such a good sense of your own style and so always look fabulous. I’m in awe of your skills, talking about different sweaters whilst stitching another one and filming it all! Wow that’s a lot of multi tasking! 👏👏👏. I have seen the seam trick on instagram too but not tried it yet so it’s good to see that it does work. This is the second jarrah I’ve seen stitched up this week, Rachel from @northernsewlsisters did a version so I’m very tempted to get the pattern, I have quite a length of French Terry so I might be able to get a tunic length out of it, so I think it might be going on the list. Hi Amelia. I LOVE my Janome 3000 Coverstitch Pro machine. I can sew two or three threads with no tunneling. Also a chain stitch and top cover stitch. With all the knit projects you sew, I think you would find it to be a good investment😀

I use my coverstitch machine quite often. I have a Janome 3000 and am very happy with it.

Thank you for sharing your sweater/jumper/pullover/cardigan patterns! YES, by all means purchase a cover stitch machine. I LOVE mine. Baby Lock is the best in my opinion if you can afford it, but Janome is just fine if you have a smaller budget. I’ve had both. Bernina’s combo machine L890 is amazing as is Baby Lock’s combo machine. Bernette also makes a cover stitch only machine. Stay away from the Brother 3550 cover stitch machine (if you can find one on offer in the UK), it was a nightmare for me! I traded it in for a Baby Lock and literally had tears in my eyes when I went to sew with the new machine. It will sew anything with ease and if you also have a Baby Lock overlocker, many of the optional feet work with both machines!

Lovely video & whilst it does suit you, I think you are right in that a set in sleeve is more your style, than a dropped shoulder. It does look cozy though❤
Thank you! I definitely prefer a set in sleeve but the Jarrah is so comfy and relaxed - I think I will wear it loads!

Thank you for sharing all the great sewing patterns. I'm curious: what differentiates a sweater from a sweatshirt? The Jarrah pattern is classified as a sweater, but I think if you use jersey/stretch cotton, it will look like a sweatshirt?
I am glad you enjoyed the suggestions. I think the Jarrah pattern is a sweatshirt really - I always associate a sweater with something that is knitted, but I am not sure why!

I really enjoyed your vlog. I do have most of the patterns you have spoken about but a few of them I have not made so it was interesting to see them made up. I have a question for you I have the hug hoodie but unfortunately I could not down load the instructions. I have had the pattern for a while so I would like to know is the pattern easy to make without the instructions.
I have purchased the Janome cover pro 2000 CPX and love for that professional finish. 🤗

Love your projects. I have a question about using maraflex thread, do you use it for the top thread or in the bobbin or both? I have the Janome Coverpro and I love it. Its use is limited but since I sew lots of knits I do enjoy the professional look it gives to my projects.
Miraflex is used in the top thread and in the bobbin. Good luck!

Hi Amelia! I've been loving sewing the last couple years, but my wardrobe is filling up (a good problem to have)! I'd be curious to know how many dresses for example you own and whether you wear them all often. Do you wear all of your sweaters? What do you do with items that don't wear? Donate them? Use the fabric for another project?
That is a great question! I donate (to friends or charity) or try to reuse fabric if I can. Not every project is a success, but I do wear most of my makes!
not a question about the sweaters, which I found interesting, but I'm wanting to make a waterproof poncho for a 1 year old have you made one? or which indie patterns are good for children I've looked at the big 4 and may have to mash together 2 patterns if I can't find what I want. Thanks
I think I saw a lovely cape pattern on either Little Lizard King or Peony Patterns which might work - those are usually my go to companies for children's patterns. Hope that helps!
Leaf pattern sweater is so different…..hearts?

I usually choose patterned fabric, so it was a change sewing up a plain fabric, but i do really like it.
It looks super comfy!
