    Purchased two of these.
One for me one for my wife.
Fantastic right out of the box but I found a few traits which exhibited room for improvement.
    - disassembled the bolt and polished everything. Bolt runs slick now. A part of the problem seems to be excess cerakote on contact surfaces.
    - installed IBI 1:12 20" drop in barrel. Original barrel worked well out to about 250 yards. IBI barrel will put shots on target on a 2/3 IPSC all day at 400 yards.
Tested it same day / same conditions against stock Rimex and Vudoo using the favored ammunition of each rifle - the modified Bergara B14R beat them both in all categories.
Important to note that even after the modifications the Bergara is still significantly less expensive than either the Rimex or the Vudoo.

You know what ... I think that's made my mind up. Bergara B14 Trainer for my first rifle. Can't go wrong - it'll definitely shoot a damn site better than I can, plus at the pice point it'll be great for plinking and practice.

Continuing with great videos! Loving them Josh.
I got my B14r to replace my aging CZ455, which was having issues later this summer. Disclaimer, my centerfire precision rifles are both Bergara B14 HMRs.
After 400 rounds, my B14r is loving my lot of Center-X (initially, not so much). My first KYL match with it, I not only cleared the entire match with a perfect score against Annie's and CZs, (something I was not able to do with the CZ), but the next day I went to another KYL match and won that one too (missed another perfect score on the last shot! My fault - still getting used to the 2-stage TriggerTech I put in). Very impressive rifle - really helping to restore my confidence and fun!
PS, the bolt is not the smoothest to close, but I'm used to it now. My friends CZ 457s and Tikkas are much better in this regard.
One quick update - I have since replaced the barrel on the CZ455 with an IBI 22" Olympic barrel, and holy cow! It has revived that old CZ, and may be a hair more consistent than the B14r.

Nicely done Josh! I really like my B14 HMR 6.5C. Right now handloading components are hard to come by so I'm going slow on centerfire but having a ball with my Christensen Ranger. With the right ammo, it makes 1 hole at 51 yards. Love it!

the Ranger's trigger is very hard, even adjusted. I replaced it with a 4oz trigger and welded the bolt's handle to the bolt, which is horrible. Ranger is the worst rifle I've ever purchased. even worse than the cheaper Rugers. love my 8 CZs, my three B14 Rs and my 17 Rugers.

I have two of these rifles and looking at the new sporter model. These guns will not eat any old 22lr. He does a great job of wringing out the best of the best of his rifle. These rifles will not sit in just any old chassis or stock the mags ride lower in aftermarket stocks and the lack of a feed ramp make bringing the round to battery.

Have really enjoyed my b14r, I'm on the second year using it in NRL 22 matches. Only changes I made were Trigger Tech trigger and swapping stock out to a krg Bravo stock. Trying to put an Arca rail on the factory stock caused some small issues and the factory stock is a little slick. All in all no regrets at all for buying my bergara.22.

    Hey Josh
We came out of lockdown last night after 3 months , I was at the range this morning waiting it to open , Man after not shooting for 3 months my whole game had gone south it took me about 60 rounds to get back where I was before we we’re locked up , it really showed everything how important practice is , ended up ok I’m back to around.2 - .3s at 50 yards so I’m happy with that , on another note for interest sake I checked the price of a B14R barreled action $1175.00 over here , we’re really being shafted on anything firearm related , have a great weekend Mate . Aussie Steve .

Man I want one of those stocks so bad for my b14r. My b14r loves cci sv and it has zero cold bore shot. I just love mine man. I thought my CZ 457 lrp was a beast till I got my bergara broke in and found the ammos it prefers which is eley match/about anything SK does fairly well and cci sv but it seems to prefer eley match. I can clear run my DM targets KYL rack almost every time without a miss at 50yds with cci sv. Oh and the bolt close doesnt seem to bother me at all, not sure if it got easier with use or I got use to it. My 16yo niece also seems to have no problem with it. I also however do not shoot it in matches yet.

It does take about 20 rounds to re-coat the barrel after cleaning. My rifle head spaces at .043". It likes Lapua/SK. Eley not so much. Trigger is a Shilen Competition set at 6 oz. I dropped the torque down to 45 in/lb. It is a better deal than a CZ 457 Precision Trainer. Runs about 100-150 dollars less. OTOH add the Shilen trigger and you are at the same price.

Salut Josh, I recall from previous videos the significance you have placed on maintaining the cheek “weld (?)” in order to maintain consistency, which is of course important in maintaining tight groups. You stressed it when coaching your daughter. You illustrated here that keeping the ridicule on the target was well nigh impossible. For that reason this rifle does not interest me. Both my CZ 457s have very smooth bolt actions with less than 1000 rounds through each. And as my centre fire rifles are also CZ not REM 700 actions again there is no motive to buy one. Excellent review as always. RB.

I was shopping both and the gun store owner steered me towards the LRP (his words, "it's better" and was $200 less). I now own a B14R. Action feel; advantage 457, but accuracy @ 50 yds, B14R hands down. It's more consistent. However, with that said, I have a CZ455 Mini Sniper that shoots more accurate than my old LRP and my current B14R @ 100 yds. On a good day, a few sub-moa groups @ 100 yds. Can't explain it, it just does it.

How does it compare to the savage B22 series? Ibe heard the bolts on the savages are exceptional for their price point

I wonder if some fine lapping compound on the bolt lugs could smooth that bolt throw up?

Josh sorry to drift off topic but a friend a mine recently picked this rifle up and has had a few trips to the range but his groups at 25 seems awful and he has more excuses than a hi-capacity magazine but mainly there seems to be a lot of "the barrels gotta get broke in first" but my experience is that most barrels either shoot well or they don't and typically its down to ammunition preference due to harmonics ect. whats your thoughts ? Would love to see a barrel break in opinion video one day!

Yeah he just hasnt found the right ammo.
There is no break in process for 22lr barrels from bergara or quality manufacturers.
I borescope my barrels and they are all very nicely finished straight from the factory

I’m in the market for a 22 for PRS. I’ve watched nearly every video on UA-cam. None of the rifles are perfect, whichever one you look at. Apart from the stiff bolt close and the 90 degree action the Bergara is pretty damn close….

  • @charlesjacques750

Compare Bergara to your CZ MTR production class video? Same price point, same scope. Like both? Trying to make a decision.

The bergaras hard to beat for the price but its not as consistently reliable as the 457

Thanks for the video, any advice on the B14 versus the CZ At-One? The B14 is a little more expensive but I’m wondering if it’s worth it.

The b14r is worth it if your going to use it as a trainer for a 700 action big gun. Its also very accurate and very fun to shoot. Quality rifle

Oh sure now I think I need to ad another to the collection. 10-22 custom, 452, 455, 457, Tikka T1x, Bergara BXR, Looking at the BMR and now the B14R, this nonsense has got to stop. :)
How do you compare it to the 457MTR?

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  2 роки тому

Its very comparible in the terms of accuracy and reliability. The b14 is more $$ but it is 700sa compatible and your getting a better stock for prs style shooting
