  • Joe from Cyclops Videos ( / airgunclassicsjoewrhea ) called me out for some 22lr competition.
    Please don't take this seriously guys. Joe is a great guy and a great shooter and has become what I consider to be a friend.
    Enjoy :)

    All in good fun and another good video from both. Funny thing is I built a Bergara b14r in a similar look to joshes CZs setup. I'm using the MDT LSS Xl stock and have never had a feeding issue. At the end of the day they are both lights out on the bench and shot just as good as the Vudoo at half the cost lol.

      That's one of the few complaints for the bergara, the bolt does work and close with some effort compared to the CZ, Josh actually showed it in a video.
      I still bought the Bergara:-)
      I've only had it a few weeks but took it out and put 400 rounds through it yesterday, I had one malfunction. They do seem to do worse in an aftermarket stock.

    Josh - I just got some Eley ammo. You have made the 22 an amazingly fun gun again. Unlike you, I am shooting the new Ruger 10/22 Competition Rifle, Left-Hand Model. I've always wanted a left hand 22 auto. I know I can not get your accuracy, but I'm getting some really nice groups! Oh, and you also convinced me to invest in a nice TRACT scope. I was fortunate enough to get a brick of the Eley Semi-Auto match ammo. I also bought some Ten-X just to do some of my own testing! A BIG thank you for passing on your knowledge and increasing the fun of shooting. Whistle Pig hunting is just around the corner. Amazing rodent killing fun with a 22.

    Not really apples to apples with an aftermarket barrel in the CZ. I don't know about the Bergara Rimfires but I have a Bergara B14 HMR in 308 that will consistently shoot sub-half-inch 5-round groups at 100 yards. It does that with hand-loaded ammo consisting of Sierra 155-grain Palma Match bullets, Lapua brass, Viht N-140 powder, and CCI #200 large rifle primers. I also have a $5,000+ custom-built rifle in 308 and the out-of-the-box $900 Bergara shoots just as good. I will say though that the CZ 457 even in stock form is an excellent rifle and it would probably be a toss-up as to which one is the most accurate. There is a reason CZ is so popular in long-range 22 competition. No matter which rifle you prefer you gotta love Joe. 🤣

    Friendly banter aside, my old Sako 94s Varmint in its original wooden factory stock will regularly shoot sub-half MOA five shot groups at 50 metres with most quality ammo. The only modification to the rifle was to shorten the factory barrel to 17" and add a moderator. The bipod is a Fortmieier. Strangely, I have another 'identical' 94s in the original heavy range stock and 23" barrel that won't shoot anywhere near as good. Other than the barrel length both actions and barrels are, to all intents and purposes, they are exactly same, as are the scopes. My smallest group out of the shortened 'Varmint' version was 0.29 MOA using Eley 10X, only to be beaten a week later by a fellow club member who shot a 0.22 MOA five shot group using some Eley Club out of an unmodified CZ sporter. has anyone else had any similar experience with short barrels?

    • @Ltblitzful
      @Ltblitzful 2 роки тому

      short barrels can be just as accurate if not more than some longer barrels, you get less velocity but that affects range not accuracy. As long as your rifle is zero'd for it, there shouldn't be much difference, especially at 50

    • @shootsteel
      @shootsteel 2 роки тому

      @@Ltblitzful Surely longer barrels with the .22LR can be counter productive ... friction and all that. For a .22 all you need is enough barrel to ensure a full powder burn. My 17 inch barrel appears to deliver velocities in line with published data. I'll have to check the velocity out of the 22 inch out of curiosity

    • @Ltblitzful
      @Ltblitzful 2 роки тому

      @@shootsteel well yes technically but that would have to be an excessively long barrel, I've heard from some guys 18" is the sweet spot for good stabilization with little loss in velocity but I have no hard evidence to back that up
