It does not matter if you are in debt or not. You cannot let situations like this one stop you from getting married and starting a family.

Debt free is one thing , but you need to at least be financially viable before marriage - That is a real difficult for younger couples in there early 20's to navigate. and putting kids off until their late 20's. I wouldn't want kids until I had a real home to raise them in.

Amen! Thanks for making this. My wife and I are recently married and working hard together to pay off all our debt. Our dream is to raise children in a home that's free from the huge money stresses and fights that we grew up around

That's really really great advice! You know, I really love and respect my parents but I really grew up with a common permissive "do what you want at the moment" attitude. You guys really fill in those spots of wisdom that I wish I had been taught sooner. You are so awesome, so positive and strength-giving!

I agree! Finances are one of the leading causes of divorce. Nuns are required to pay off their debt before entering religious life. I assume it’s the same for priests as well. It would make sense that before entering marriage, we strive to be debt-free and have savings ready for our future family.

Yes! Ramsey for the win! Fascinating about religious being required to be debt free. There’s irony there because many religious orders also require a college degree which is typically the first and largest amount of debt young people get into. I always wonder if this is good for vocations to be delayed compared to earlier history in the Church. 😮

I say this video was very successful and the encouragement I prayed for that I am motivated to make changes now while I am single around the mentality of money and getting smarter about making it serve me. I always make it a first priority paying off my debt as I always do but I am so glad you unpacked the reason why I hate working, work, and just want to do nothing and be lazy whenever I can because of a lack of engagement in meaningful work I enjoy that plays into my talents more than just living for money because of money because of debt. Hopefully I end up married one day if not then I would have to talk to God about how to get over the pain of loneliness and unfulfilled desires.

@@TheologyoftheBodyInstituteThank you for making these practical and thought provoking videos as I try my best to navigate through the world by myself since I lack relationships, friends, and mentors of all kinds. I know we always have God and are not supposed to shove him aside and seek him out as more than enough, but it’s really hard just being alone in life and trying to figure everything out as companionship along with seeking love and intimacy is why I am seeking marriage to help fill that empty void of my heart. The loneliness is the hardest thing I contend with and just live inside my mind and emotions a lot of times as even God declared loneliness as unnatural and not from Him “It is not good for the man to be alone, so I will find a helper suitable for him.”

Can y’all please make a video on what to do when your in the pre engagement stage and your person confesses past sins. Should you break up if they make you uncomfortable or trust in their repentance?

    • @sercastamere9853

This is more of a question of patterns of behaviour on their part and how strongly you believe in repentance
