Well, barista here and yes regular cold foam is made with skim but sweet cream is made with heavy whipping cream , 2% milk and vanilla 🤗 and vanilla may be purchased at Starbucks!
@@melissasmith2019no vanilla extract is needed in the Starbucks recipe we use. All the ingredients are listed by the OP. The recipe of how we make it is literally 1 liter of heavy whipping cream, 350 ml of Starbucks vanilla syrup, 600 ml of 2% milk and you whisk it all together in a 2 liter pitcher. The use of vanilla extract is just here in the DIY recipes seen in this video. But I will say, some of my fellow baristas will add two additional pumps of vanilla syrup when we’re making vanilla sweet cream cold foam, so I suppose it’s all personal preference if you’d like to additionally use vanilla extract!
This is SO good! I've literally made this every morning for the past week. I made a special trip to the grocery store yesterday just to pick up another bottle of cold brew to keep making this! No need for me to ever go to Starbucks again! Just watching this makes me want to go into the kitchen and whip up another cup!
As a barista who actually cares a lot about coffee, I was actually presently surprised to get a video that was informative about this instead of a normal 5 minute crafts type video that does a terrible job explaining and tastes terrible, Sadly, coffee topics such as cold foam have fallen in between the cracks of the tiktok drinks that only look good and taste awful and the baristas who only drink their coffee black or as milk beverages and would call this stupid, so seeing someone actually explain it right, make it look good, and it actually taste good was very presently surprising. Well done.
Just a heads up - if you don't have a blender or mixer of any kind you can get the same texture by shaking the contents in a mason jar for about half a minute.
@@ButteredSideUp Honestly, I surprised that it does work without a blender/mixer. Given, I haven't perfected yet, but have attempted to make cold foam using a martini shaker before 🤣. For those who like their coffee with cream, another substitution can be flavored coffee creamer too w/the added vanilla extract. In terms of martini shaker-it's either better with only 1-2 ice cubes, or no ice in the shaker at all. In terms of how many times one shakes it depends on how thick they want it...but highly recommend shaking it over the sink (sometimes it gets a tad too "foamy", the contents will pour out thru the lid). I promise I don't drink alcohol, but have found another use for those shakers.
My favorite drinks are chai latte and pumpkin spice latte. I can’t wait to make them. Yes, I just bought my espresso and been making drinks. I love them. But wow I thought I couldn’t tell the difference because how good the coffee is, but I just came back from universal and couldn’t believe the difference. Those expensive machines are really on another level. Makes me appreciate my coffee more.
This video inspired me to make a honey cinnamon version as I don’t have any maples syrup. I used 1/4 cup of 2% milk, a tablespoon of honey, and a little cinnamon, vanilla, and pink Himalayan salt. I poured over store bought cold brew and ice. It was sooooo good! I may use a little less honey next time because it was pretty sweet. I will have to try the pumpkin soon, even though fall is a ways off.
Then theres me, i just use a milk frother with their store bought creamer. Add some simple syrup and salt and its just as bomb. But i still watch these tutorials. One day I’ll make it the right way lol
I was thinking the same thing! Why spend all that money on whipping cream when you’re going to dilute it with 2% and syrup. Thanks for sharing, now I know it will work with coffee cream 👍
Loved how you used quality ingredients, which most videos don’t and immediately liked this video. Can you please do a video of the chocolate cream cold brew!! I’ll really appreciate it💗
This just came up on my home page and I just started a low carb lifestyle and trying to do coffee at home so I went by your recipe except I used sugar-free maple syrup instead and made the sweet cream and it is delicious! Thank you so much for this video 🤤😍👍🏼👍🏼
I used sugar free caramel syrup and the nut pods marshmallow flavor creamer ( no calories- it’s whole 30 approved) and the caramel dolce concentrate cold brew - delicious and no guilt! I just happened to throw it all together one day and it was sooooo good and I’m addicted now- then I see these videos- I’m a little late to the game I guess 🤷♀️

Thank you for this! I followed your Instagram and posted the cold foam results on my story 😊! I actually have the same exact measuring cup, and it works really well for frothing the 4 tbsp of milk. Used organic agave nectar instead of maple syrup and it was delicious.

I’ve never wanted to try iced coffee. I just assumed I wouldn’t like it at all so it was always hot cappuccino or something like that. Well about a month ago I first tried Starbucks iced vanilla coffee with that cold foam and OMG so I went for that a couple more times. Starbucks would make the coffee to strong for me though and they well in summer kept making my strawberry refreshers so weak and I complained they offered to mail me a card July 21st my birthday and have yet to send it, kept making one excuse after the other….soooo( sorry so long) I recently tried McDonald’s iced coffee and honestly I Love it much better than the Starbucks except I miss the cold foam well that is until now😊. Hi, great video, I would like you to activate the save button so that I can save it to my playlist. Currently, it´s in kids mode and does not allow enabling the save button. Thanks in advance. Best regards.
Is the salted caramel cold foam missing caramel? Seems like you just made a salted sweet vanilla cold foam. Perhaps the maple imparts a small caramel flavor, but not the same as authentic caramel. Thanks for the demo of creating the cold foam.
I didn’t use caramel syrup. I think the maple + salt is a much better flavor than caramel syrup with artificial flavors, but that’s just me! Maybe I should do a video with homemade coffee syrups, including caramel!
I usually don’t measure, but I believe I used a scant cup in a 12-ish ounce glass. So probably around 200 ml? I basically filled a glass 2/3 full of ice and coffee, then topped with tje sweet cream.
I work at Starbucks. We make giant containers of vanilla sweet cream to pour into pitchers. We pour 150ml into the blender pitcher and that’s your cold foam. We can pretty much put any syrup into your cold foam, I’ve had some interesting requests.
Apparently everyone's starbucks makes this differently lol our store did a bottle of the vanilla syrup with enough heavy cream to make it a liter, 1L of 2% milk.

Great video and instruction! New to cold brew so two questions - what is coffee to cream ratio? 1-1? And have you tried half & half in place of the cream & milk?
It’s totally up to your preferences, but this is what I suggest: fill a 12 ounce glass halfway with ice. Pour cold brew on top until the glass is 2/3 full. Pour the sweet cream on top. You could also try 1 cup of cold brew per recipe.
Vanilla cold foam:
4T of milk
1T of pure maple syrup
A few drops of vanilla extract
Vanilla Sweet Cream
3T heavy cream
1T whole milk
1T maple syrup
A few drops of vanilla extract
Salted Carmel sweet cream
Add a pinch of salt to vanilla sweet cream recipe
Pumpkin sweet cream
3T of cream
1T of milk
1T maple syrup
A few drops of vanilla extract
1/8 t of pumpkin pie spice blend
Pinch of salt
1t of pumpkin purée (optional)
Actually, someone leaked the recipe, and there is vanilla syrup in the cream and pumpkin pie sauce for the pumpkin.
