Honda Civic Type R 2016 (ENG) - Test Drive and Review

The 2016 Honda Civic Type R is a long-awaited car. In 2010 Honda had to axe the eight-gen-based Civic Type R, because the 2-litre normally aspirated engine did not meet emission standards. First news about new Honda Civic Type R tests emerged back in 2012, soon after 9. generation compact Honda debut. In 2013 Honda announced it will introduce a 2-litre turbocharged Euro6 engine, which would power the new Type R. And it promised more than 280 hp. This is when the arms race began for Honda to beat all other FWD hot hatches around the Nurburgring. The new Honda Civic Type R was launched at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The 2-litre engine produces 310 hp, and 400 Nm of torque. The engine revs up to 7000 rpm, slightly higher than in the Ford Focus RS. 0-100 hm/h time of 5.7 seconds sound modest, until you realise this is still a FWD car.

So it actually not that faster than Octavia vRS and its...well, hard and loud. No wonder they are replacing it next year. I would be surprised they sold anything other than press test models on the second hand market.
