Miku at the time, being Kanami's pupil, was certainly not able to play more than a few chords. But here she is surrounded by giants, and they guide her in her solo by giving the most awesome support possible. Just play it again, and feel how when she is playing, the moment it enters repetition, it is instantly driven up by superb bass and drum playing, in to something insanely good. They really are a unity, and I'm blown away by it.
Alexander Pope, way back in the 18th century, said "Whoever thinks a perfect piece to see, thinks what was never was, nor is, nor ever shall be". It took 300 years and Band-Maid to prove him wrong.
Onset is my favorite instrumental from them. It's a masterpiece. You might as well go all the way back and check out their very first MV "Thrill". That is what got them noticed and the rest is history. Thanks for another great reaction. 🤘
Absolutely agree. They done some great instrumentals but "Onset" has raised the bar ridiculously high :)
My favourite is their instrumental version of Giovanni. Onset is superb, but the instrumental Giovanni is truly mind blowing!

This song and this version specifically never fails to give me chills. I could listen to this song for hours. Just an awesome groove to it. A masterclass in composition.

The song itself actually screams for a performance that is just overflowing with swagger. The fact that you don't get that feeling for a single second says a lot about the characters and the chemistry between the ladies, at least for me. What I mean is that it's balanced and no one takes anything away from the other. A thought that goes too far? Maybe.... But I don't think anyone can deny one fact. That this song/performance is just f'n awesome! :)

on tour once, Mincho left her overnight bag & had to floss using her spare guitar strings. Hotel guests said it was the best solo they'd ever heard....probably :)

You've already done 'Daydreaming, so the next ballad is 'About Us' or for something beautifully different Band Maiko's 'Gion-Cho'. Band Maid and Jinjer, quite a contrast but both dripping in talent, musicianship and sheer entertainment. Having both on your channel has just locked me in! Loving the ride. 🤘

If you haven't seen it yet watch FREEDOM live for a real drum solo from Akane. For something totally not rock watch ABOUT US, which is really a love song to the fans. Then if you want something heavy watch RINNE, the MV not live. The live version was on television and it got mangled in the editing.

If you want to see their new side that is constantly evolving. The B-side "Corallium" of the latest CD "Sense" may be good. Music-only videos are on their official UA-cam channel. The lyrics were a new song written by Saiki, who was also a back dancer before joining the band. It's a dancing hard rock song.

Intriguing idea for that to be the theme song to a major sports TV thing. It's perfect for a world-wide audience as it speaks only the universal language of music. So maybe soccer or auto racing or something that is multi-continental. Too bad Japan didn't make that the theme song of the Olympics.
So many folks like their newest tracks but I really love their more melodic tracks like "Time" featuring Miku on vocals. No it isn't overly technical just great rock and roll. A nice official recording can be found on ( fa ce bo ok Dot co m) and doing a search for the band and song i.e. / watch / search / ?q = Band Maid Time) Fifth attempt to post. Needed to really butcher the link. Sorry about that.

@@waynebenedict5785 World Domination Tour? Yes that is a great DVD. It's just hard to direct reactors to some of these gems as they are not found on UA-cam.
This is basically the return of 70's fusion, on steroids. You didn't touch on the games they play with time signatures, but let's just say, 99% of rock bands would not even be able to attempt what these ladies are doing.. "Onset" is a masterpiece.

I didn't recommend to you "Onset" because you're into vocals, and it's an instrumental. Plus, you like watching the band members have fun with each other, whereas "Onset" they are being serious. Soooo, I say try next the official Live "Real Existence". There's singing, and they have fun with each other.
Your dead on about playing bass the way Misa does. Its must easier to follow the drums and play the root notes. She does an amazing job of throwing in complex lines while still holding down the rhythm. And here's a subtle but hard thing she does in her solo here. She's playing her bass line with the pick and then palms the pick and goes to slap without missing a beat. I find it hard enough to palm a pick and go to finger picking when playing a guitar, where I can kinda cheat and give myself a second or so by letting strings ring out while trying to palm before I go to full finger picking. She's doing it in a middle of a fast run with no hiccup! I love her playing. I honestly think she's my favorite player on bass right now. Great technique and I actually FEEL something I cant put into words. She just touches you (me), you feel it, its almost spiritual. Anyway, kinda stumbled onto you channel and great content. Btw here's another great female guitarist from Japan. Her name is Yuki and she plays with the band D_Drive. Not sure how much demand there would be for a reaction to her but she's an amazing musician if you'd want to check her out sans reaction.
