      I thought it could have been improved. Reading the texts while continually saying full names along with "this defendant" about 900 times was not what I would call concise. It seemed average to me, but at least it wasn't a Hollywood production like some of them are.

      They are actually told by their lawyers to be taking notes. helps keep their mind off of their personal emotional reaction to the ongoing testimony and prevents involuntary reactions that the jury may pick up on.
      Also it supposedly makes them look more professional and like they are actually active in the trial which an innocent person would obviously do to keep themselves out of prison.

    Let me get this straight. Taylor, the victim, asked her friend, Ashley, the suspect, to hide money for her. Taylor was divorcing her husband. Ok. Ashley said, she'd hide the money, but instead, spent it on the guy she was seeing. So instead of giving Taylor her money back, Ashley killed her, and is now on trial for her friend's murder. Wow.

      @@Vibez-o5k I completely agree! She could have simply said the decedent sent the defendant x number of texts over x number of days, requesting access to the safe deposit box.
      They're going to show the texts later anyway, which is always more compelling. She went in far too much detail about several issues. For example, who cares about the size of the warehouse at this point! I don't know how long this woman has been practicing, but that's a rookie move!

    • @NicOneRockRec
      @NicOneRockRec 28 днів тому

      I guess I'll third this. I agree with the she didnt need to date each text and could have condenced the entire thing and tightened it up. I also didn't like her saying things like "she did x the reason I'm guessing she did that is x. " I don't want to know your guessing about any part of this case. Thar being said, she wasn't awful. Ashley spent Taylor's money. She was worried about getting caught and tried to stall meeting up at the bank. Taylor was about to be put in jail so she didn't have much time to wait and chase Ashley around. She wanted that money and probably was getting tired of Ashley. They meet up, Ashley convinced her to go to Britt Rd. Taylor is getting impatient, either Ashley told her she spent the money or Taylor figured it out. An argument ensued, Ashley knew she was going to get her ass kicked, sued or maybe Taylor knew about her frauding and killed her.

      No, if ashley wasn’t a killer, she’d still be alive. Let’s not blame the victim. It doesn’t matter what she was hiding she didn’t need to die

      @@maryjanedavis9033 you missed the point ; nobody said she needed to die . Her dishonest actions opened the door to her demise is the point. HAD there been no money to hide in that divorce , it's true she would still be alive - such a shame .

      Classic victim blaming. Her being deceitful about money doesn't give reason for her to be murdered.

    I always wonder what defendants are writing. I mean, isn’t that what their lawyers are for? 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Amateurs, caramels and mustache are 3 words that you can make from Ashley McArthur.

    McArthur is taking notes during the opening statement. They probably read: "I bought potting soil. I bought concrete. I killed and buried Taylor Wright."

    When lawyers say "may I please the court" why do judges stay silent or in this case stare at they lawyer as if she insulted her,

      They are saying “May _it_ please the Court, ...” This is formulaic speech, prescribed by court etiquette.

    I always wonder what the heck is defendent writing. Taylor tried to do wrong to her husband and wrong doing was done to her. What a shame now her child has to grow up without his mother. It doesn't pay to do dirt.
