With "people" like her, the "money" itself is just a part of their evil, so the amount doesn't matter, they're narcissistic and would kill even for $500 if they felt it was justifiable, their belief system is so warped and evil, that the ONLY thing they care about is their selfish, narcissistic needs, and I know because I was engaged to a narcissist like her. After investing $100,000 into her and her children who weren't mine, she threatened to kill me with a knife and meant it, thankfully, I got out before she could do so in my sleep.

I agree as per prior to the verdict. Once the verdict was rendered, she should have given the defendant the choice to leave the court room prior to her rendering all the mundane things she covered - though beneficial to you and the jury perhaps more so. It was unnecessary that a defendant there and have to hold her emotions any longer than she cared to.

Maggie Margaret The person she shot thought Ashely McArthur was her friend. It’s very disturbing. If she wanted her emotions to be considered she shouldn’t have killed. Imagine she was a man that killed the woman would you care about his emotions? You might still but just a thought.

I have seen that sort of closing with more judges in the last few years - that said it is reasonable to remember that what we see 'streamed' is not necessarily all. I think if you know in your heart you are guilty and your counsel talk about that with you ( and any good defense team would) You would expect to hear it - not every sentence but the overall nature. Juries often have a meeting with the jury after a trial has finalised to take on any concerns - not about the trial so much but about their own individual issues or difficulties emotionallly.

We also live within a society and justice system that holds certain truths to be evident; one of those being the ability of the human heart, body and soul to be rehabilitated. Without that belief, people either fall into the ill(mentally unfit) or irredeemable (inherently evil)., and as such, members in the second class should be put to death. She was greedy and and she could have just told Taylor she stole the money-or used it- and arrange a way to start paying it back. Worst case scenario Taylor filed charges or sued her for the money. She didn't have to kill her over it. Now she will waste the rest of her good/40's and 50's years in prison. IF she ever makes parole what can she do with her life when she gets out? When someone murders another there is never just one victim, ever..... It radiates out into the families and loved ones on both sides, they automatically become victims too and are suffering a prison sentence in their minds for life. The murderer has taken their lives too. Don't kill. Don't kill. Don't kill.

Having served as a Jury Spokesperson in a criminal case, the weight of sitting in judgement of another human being is a very sobering, humble situation. Unless one has ever served on a Jury, this weight is not understandable. I wrote to the Supervisor of Court Operations letting her know how much I grew as a human being and how thankful I was to have been a part of the said proceedings. What an honor to be of service. Wish I could be a professional juror, to serve again and again!

How does one become the foreman of a jury? Do the jurors volunteer and then vote on which volunteer gets to be foreman? Does the judge appoint the juror with the most experience of serving on past juries? Does the judge appoint a foreman arbitrarily?

      Hi
I thought I was the only person in the USA that said if there was a way to serve as a professional juror I would be happy too oblige

I'd imagine it would take a toll on ones persona being held accountable for the life of another. Despite what they had done. It would have to beat you down after awhile and is probably one of the reasons why they don't have "professional jurors."

Jurors in this type of case have a very challenging job. They are taken out of there daily lives and thrown into a full time job of listening to horrific details about a horrific crime. There is no way that this doesn't change jurors lives and they deserve to be commended as such by the judge and the public.

When the judge tells the jury "you're free to go home", Ashley felt that.
I felt a fraction of that back in middle school when the teacher let the class out but me I had to stay because I had detention. The sadness I felt when I got to watch the rest of the students grab their backpacks and belongings and leave out that door into a bright and sunny day of freedom. Happily having fun with their friends as they leave. While I had to just sit there in class alone and just wondered what it feels like to be outside. Crappy feeling and I can only imagine how worse that must feel to do that for life.
At that moment I knew to never be a bad person and just follow the rules. Life is just too beautiful to mess it up for someone else AND yourself. That'll be something I will teach my children.

Fortunately for you, whatever silly mistake you made as a child will never garner to the amount of damage this woman did to her loved ones and the victims. She will have to sleep on a cold cement bed with a single pad on it and the thinnest sheet to sleep at night. She can think about what the person she is and then think about what she needs to become to be a better person to maybe get to go outside like the rest of the jurors.

In your case, you probably sat in detention for an hour or two at most even though it probably felt a lot longer. I've never had detention but I do know it's nothing compared to being in prison which I've never experienced either, this lady will only see the sun in the prison courtyard for 25 years minimum and potentially for life and will never be fully free even if she gets out.

I despise the modern justice system's habit of asking people not to respond at pain of being held in contempt. These are hugely emotional results and people should be allowed to respond when justice hits. It shouldn't be sanitised simply because a judge doesn't like a human reaction. You cannot adjudicate human emotion.
