I like the idea Nate. I am 67 yr old and finally got a 2008 Bullitt. Now I need to figure out how to make enough money for a supercharger. I hope I live to 134 yrs old !!!
Constructive criticism!! An authentic cobra jet is not necessary to have an awesome build. The value of the car would appreciate or depreciate with either motor because it's not original. I've built these cars and fyi the trans, wiring, swap parts, drive shaft, rearend, body stiffening components, and suspension will cost way more than the "authentic cobra jet" your logic went out the window
@@dustinjenkins1709 My channel is coming! I have reached out to help him free of cost and offer parts that i have collecting dust. Might as well use and build giveaway cars!
Not to be negative or unsupportive but the whole car isn't going to be authentic. It is already modified. You can build a truck block 428 and people would never know the difference.
If you were worried about Authentic you should have bought an authentic 428 car. You blew off the 454 sbf engine making over 600 hp daily driven. The 5.0 is ok but to make over 500hp at the wheels and a 5speed is going to be costly. Subframe Rear end Gears Suspension
5.0! Ya ya! All kinds of work to do to make it right and all work together, but I say totally worth it! Build it! Everyone says big block but that is so much weight to hold you back in that beauty! Auto or manual you will have to make adjustments, my 10r80 is frickin huge! 6r80 is pretty large too, needs its own computer too I think...
Throw a cobra Jet intake manifold, vmp twin 67mm throttle body, custom air intake on it along with some 47lb injectors to run e85 and l&m intake cams. Since you do have the motor as a bare short block, to maximize the power of an N/A coyote, you can do a 13:1 compression. Should be easily OVER 500whp. Manual or auto is your preference. DO OIL PUMP GEARS!!
Everybody: 7.0l v8 pushrod swap Nate: Beverly is getting a 5.0 Lol just for jokes..... its ur build its going to be sick but the 428🥺.....and get lockouts for the phasers to make it chop when u get them cams(5.0)
Coyote will fit, but barely without moving the shock towers but the shock towers do need to be modified (a lot) and transmission will not fit without cutting the transmission tunnel. Good luck and get out the plasma cutter. I highly recommend you do get rid of the shock towers and go with some modern suspension including a new K member assembly. Hydra-static booster (nothing else will fit) and power rack and pinion. You will be thousands and thousands of dollars ahead if you go get a totaled 2015 to 2020 Mustang GT donor car because you need the wiring harness, radiator, condenser, rack and pinion, etc and you then would get everything that works without spending $10,000 here, $5,000 there, $3,000 here etc. Listen to others who have done this and you will see a modern donor Mustang is the way to go. Great channel and wishing you a speedy and successful swap. BTW you might want to consider another transmission "Owners of Ford Mustang and Mustang GTs with the MT82 and MT82-D4 six-speed manual transmission supplied by Getrag have filed a class-action suit against the automaker over issues with that gearbox. "
Hey Nate, Quick correction, you have a Ford 8" (flat) rear end. The 8.8" started in the Foxbox and has a bolt on backing plate to the casing. And the 9" will look like yours but have a bump on the back for the larger ring gear. The one you have is considered the weakest of the 3 choices that came in mustangs. But can be improved (31 spline axles, etc) to around 500hp (fly). As you stated, likely you want to find a 9". I think you can use one from a Bronco and might bolt right in if you are looking around. Or Quick Performance might have a direct 9" built to spec for your year.
If you want to make your life easier later down the line, do a mustang 2 front end while you build the engine. Companies make motor mounts for coyotes for them so if you do the mustang 2 front end you can run your small block in the mean time then with different motor mounts the coyote will bolt right in. Definitely look into it. Rack and pinion and disc brakes, as well as no shock towers gives you all the room in the world for the coyote
I am happy with that choice and any choice as long as you didn’t go LS! Glad you keep it all FORD! I like the 6r80 over the 10r80 I have had them both but with the 6r80 seems you stay in the power longer! I just like it better but the 10r80 is a good trans also
428 was higher views… 428 was higher views… 428 was higher views… 😭.... but I do get why you chose the 5.0, I’ll def stick around and watch you build it. A built 289 would be cool also.

your gonna need to cut the shock towers, heidts front suspension, and then cut the floor out for the trans to fit. Will need to get a 9" rear end to handle the power
Glad I kept mine old school. All these kids want to coyote swap everything. The cost of building an oldschool stroker motor with efi would have been so much cheaper with the same results. You're going to loose the feel by swapping that. Cool car though.
I like the idea of the coyote it will set you apart from all other classic mustangs. I have a 1968 mustang as well just a regular gt coupe with a 302 but I’ve been wanting to do the same thing to my mustang! Can’t wait to see it finished!
I understand what you're saying about the 428 but you would not have to modify the front end of the car to install the motor. By using the coyote you be changing the front end of the car and will not be original any more. So sad for the 68.
Yo Nate you’re gonna have to cut the shock towers cut the trans tunnel cut the firewall and if I wereyou I do it Mustang two front conversion to fit that motor can’t wait to see the engine build
I think that's cool you're going to drop by coyote motor in your mustang. And don't you worry about what other people think. It your car.. your built. Can't wait to watch the process. I had everybody yelling me to drop a 302 in my falcon wagon. What did I do!!! drop a Ford 300-6 with a supercharger.
I don't know to say manual or auto. Manuals are still good for cruising but the auto just has you laid back. I'm leaning towards auto since its and ol school tho.
You can build more hp and reliably in a push rod motor for less or the same amount, get your self a explorer 5.0 fuel injected ,gt40 p cam it change the valve ratio do a ground up rebuild and put a forced air system on it everything fits under the hood there is no chopping up your shock towers ,opening up a can of worms.then you have room for a/c and 6 speed and the front end won't plow around corners
Nate I would be interested in buying your current motor and what ever else you have. I have a 65 with 14,457 original miles that I am restoring but it has a straight 6
Vtuned is already doing a coyote swap on a 68, not that I wont like the build, but we were all waiting for the 7.0. Personally I feel the coyote swaps are so played out already. But hey its your car its your build have fun with it!
@@NateRider 428 came in 68 fastback. I wouldnt even do that id do a stroked 302 to a 408 forged. Longblock 2500 if that. That way you can still have power steering air conditioning and everything you want which I know living in San Diego you definitely need

I would keep it classic and put a 428 but hey man it’s your car and it’s beautiful . Thanks for making your videos.
I love the sound of the coyote. Great power potential. Aluminum and realistic price.
FiveforBiting I was thinking the same too
I would’ve kept it a pushrod small block. Also the smell of a carbureted engine is amazing
I really wanted too as well, but trust me the coyote will be such an awesome experience
Id say next time try a new experience you never know what u never try but i still like seeing someone who loves what they do
You just can't beat the sound of a classic V8!
Love how your responding back to the feedback!! Keep going Nate!!

that was a really good point. Newer drivetrains are much more expensive.

Not to be negative or unsupportive but the whole car isn't going to be authentic. It is already modified. You can build a truck block 428 and people would never know the difference.
I agree. But i dont think it would be fair to u guys if i build a truck motor for a mustang. I wanted to go all out and do what im capable of doing
Nate Rider I agree with you and I am glad you’re slapping that 5.0 in there
If you were worried about Authentic you should have bought an authentic 428 car. You blew off the 454 sbf engine making over 600 hp daily driven.

Nate Rider coyote will be much better. But you already have GT500... with grate engine. Please, keep it classic.

Crazy how time flies by, last time I saw this thing it was white and you were doing things to start it up
429 was the way to go :( but i cant wait for how this turns out !

IMO, I would drop a 363 stroker with 205 AFR head and EFI system.

It’s gonna be bad ass with the coyote 5.0 🔥
Coyote is great. Restomods are the best.
That is one sick fox body 😳
So glad your not doing an LS swap. I hate that shit when it comes to classics
