What do you mean by doomscrolling? Because it used to mean binge reading bad news but now it seems like people use it for all kinds of addictive social media scrolling.
1. Homework: When I was in school, I used planners to write down my homework and assignments in cute ways. It felt instinctive back then to do homework based on vibes where I was "choosing from the list" of what felt doable at that moment. This meant I was often doing my easiest assignments first, but those immediate wins gave me the energy to work on the harder stuff. I wasn't intending to make a "menu" back then but I think it functioned like one. 2. Creative work (writing, art, youtube, other projects): I easily forget all of the different things I have "in progress" (I have a lot of interests + also ADHD lol) so I keep a dedicated project planner where I write down all my WIPs, and when I'm in a mood to work on something, I flip through it and pick whatever feels right! 3. Hobby work and passion projects (crafts, language learning, etc): This is also part of the project planner, but it's a free time/leisure section rather than a 'work' section. It's like a menu of hobby activities, craft projects, and learning goals that I want to do or have already started. 4. Actual food for adult meal planning!: Eating is hard, meal prep is hard, and it's hard to feel excited about eating the same things over and over again, and also hard to remember sometimes what is even in my recipe repertoire -- which is why I made ACTUAL themed "dinner" menus (using menu templates in canva) to guide my weekly meal planning! In the same way that a restaurant menu can remind me "oh, that sounds yummy," my home restaurant menus give me something to "choose" from instead of feeling exhausted by all the work required to feed myself, haha. Feels more like something to look forward to, rather than a chore. 5. Gaming! I guess this is a bit like #3 but sometimes I do genuinely get overwhelmed looking at my games libraries and I forget about all the goals and achievements and things I want to do in certain games, so I also keep a menu/list of ambitious virtual projects I'm working on! I've recently started posting planning and life organization content to my channel (including a quick overview of the aforementioned project planner -- a deep dive into my menus + weekly meal planning will be coming soon!) so feel free to explore if this kind of conversation interests you :) :) If anyone has more ideas of ways to menu-ify everyday life, I'd love to hear them!! :)
@@joyagenda thank you for this awesome explanation. i'm neurodivergent too and i struggle so much w/ meal planning. i may try this menu that you mentioned!
I’m so glad our generation is collectively beginning to reclaim our attention spans and activities. I’m seeing this type of thing everywhere and I love it.
My therapist had recommended a dopamine menu about two weeks ago. It's nice to see an example of you creating one! I may go and create a physical one myself now
i like that you posted the version of the dopamine menu which you didn't like as much! I struggle with perfectionism too so this was refreshing to see! i think your menu turned out super cute anyways and I'll hopefully make one soon! Thank you for the ideas!
call it "joyscrolling" or just "browsing" instead of "doomscrolling" if you still wanna let yourself control and try to have fun with that activity... or at least that's how i would do it. this concept is neat and all the paper crafting sounds are so cozy in this vid, thanks for sharing!
ive kinda made things like a dopamine menu before, spreads in journals i reference that remind me of the choices i can make that feel rewarding. but i also like this concept for myself as something of an excercise in decision making, because i tend to get caught up in "fear of better options".
@@aprilrapunzel5318 I tried this but the algorithm is stupid and I only got the same posts from like 4 or 5 accounts over and over again. Got boring real quick.
This is a great idea. A lot of the time I’m feeling miserable I’m unable to think straight enough to remember the things I like to do. Thanks for sharing!
this so cute! i think the name of the game is intention. alot of the time scrollling on social media isnt intentional and thats why we often feel unfulfilled after. so reminding ourselves of things we actually enjoy doing can be extremely helpful
Agreed! At the end of the day, I'd rather have spent 30 mins working on a skill, hobby or tidying, compared to the feeling of oh, I've wasted that time on social media. Intentionality with one's time is so important 💓
Green is the color of growth and hope. Before the internet I would read a fashion magazine or whatever book I bought or got from the library, call a friend on the telephone, clean my shoes, organize my drawers, clean whatever I wanted, have a coffee with a friend at the coffee shop. Go for a walk alone or with a friend. I stopped drawing like you say we are our worst critic.
Actually reading this really reminds me that everything is just a matter of perspective, so thank you!! (I was really frustrated in the moment when the colors turned out faded)
OMG THIS IS GENIUS!!! I had no idea this existed, but I will definitely give it a try! Lately, scrolling on tiktok makes me literally sick :( and honestly, it's not really that fun anymore so I want to stop using it and your video just gave me the right idea of what to do instead of scrolling down on social media
Add a section for A la carte items - something you could add to another selection. Add a favorite hoody, or light a scented candle, or make a piece of toast.
i kind of like the effect the lack of ink had on your printed pics! iut gave it a cute nostalgic/coquette vibe c: defs gonna make a menu for myself! such a great idea
lol I am the opposite right now as I currently struggling with “doom playing” sudoku. It stimulates my mind but I spend way too much time on it! (Hours a day)
Getting recommended this video stopped my doomscrolling! 😂💛 Thank you so much for this. I've never heard of Dopamine Menus before, but I've been trying to get back into more textile hobbies (reading physical books, drawing and writing on paper, coloring books, etc.) whenever I can.
Hearing you say things like “I hated colouring this cover green” I related so hard because I saw that and I was like that would annoy me bc it doesn’t look good and then you said “I’m a perfectionist” and I was like MEEEEE I GET ITTTTT OMG. Perfectionism is so hard to tackle - I get it. You’re doing rlly well! Remember progress not perfection, AND how it feels is better than how it looks ❤
This is so awesome. Ever since entering college I've hardly time to sit down and have a good gaming session and end up doom scrolling over several sessions. I love how the activities you chose could be of any kind and how even a little could do wonders ❤❤ I'll try this out!
It was definitely nice!! perfectionsim is definitely a daily battle and I just try to tell myself that trying to be "perfect" is not the cure, being imperfect on purpose is!!

That’s so cool. Definitely going to try. Sometimes when I feel upset or angry for no reason I don’t know what to do and how to cope with my emotions and impulsive eating. Thank you for your video!
Taking this as a sign to take advantage of the 10 days remaining of my winter break and many days off to come. will make sure to make the most of them from now on with this method. thank you so much, your video inspired me a lot :)
Your dopamine menu project turned out great! This is a very good idea. I recently retired and used to work at night which nicely kept me from recreational screen time and mindless snacking. I'm pretty active during the daytime, but easily sucked into TV and snacks after dinner/before bed. I'd especially like to put together ideas of other (less fattening) "dessert"-like ideas for the end of my day. I would put the creation of the menu itself under "specials." Thanks for putting this video together. I had not heard the concept of "dopamine menu" before. 😊
I actually really adore how faded the food images look--I thought for SURE you got some special vintage scrapbooking stickers and I was shocked that you printed them out and cut them by hand! They look great and the whole vibe is really fun (This was really helpful bc my therapist actually recommended I make something similar!)
I LOVE this idea. This is basically what I have to do to help with my summer mood slumps. I make an activity list of things I could stop and do at any time! The variety really helps.
Your video is actually the first one I've seen with this idea. I liked, that sounds fun! Even though I'm perfectionist too 🥹 I was eating while watching your video, so it's 2x better XD Your dopamine menu is very beautiful, thank you for this video ~
Ohh this is such a valuable video. My past two therapists recommended a menu tool for self care. Thank you so much for this! I hope you have a beautiful year❤
Very creative, I was thinking about coloring after work to unwind instead of going online immediately, this is a great idea. You don't have to think about what you want to do, it will already be there. Also great because you can always add or it can inspire you to cook up a new "fusion dish" for the menu.
Oh that “I’m a perfectionist and that’s why I stopped painting/drawing/etc” got me becayse I’m freaking the same. All the half-arse things I start and never continue, because I think that I should be a master of everything with the first trial. I’m amazed that you did such a great job and finished it so beautifully.
I recommend developing a growth mindset. It can make a big difference for people who are perfectionists or wants to improve themselves. The purpose of a growth mindset is allowing yourself to grow and improve than the opposite.
That was great, thanks! I've been meaning to do a self care menu and this gave me inspo. You're so right about perfectionism, it doesn't make things better, it makes things not happen.
It came out really cute, especially the inside! I hope it works well for you! I’ve heard of them but not tried them in quite the same way myself, but I like to keep a big list of tiny self care actions I can grab one from when I need to make myself stop doomscrolling. The menu seems like a really nice, encouraging way to do it! BTW if you are using markers for big coverage areas like the front, you might have more luck with marker paper or even normal card than watercolour paper, as watercolour paper will slurp up the ink pretty fast (as it’s meant for wetter things) and dry, and so is a little harder to blend the strokes together.
This made my day!! Sometimes it's crazy overwhelming to face real life, so having shorter options as well as longer ones as little nudges to do things are great!! I love your art style as well, thanks for sharing :)

I hadn't heard of a dopamine menu before this video, but I feel really inspired now, so I just got out my colored pens and some paper and am about to make one ☺ Thank you for making this video!!!
Love this idea! Maybe I should do one and think about activities in each category :) One category to add would be to share, which some restaurants have, and it could have activities to do with someone
I've never heard of Dopamine menus prior to this video, but this has inspired me to try out something new! Thank you very much! This was so encouraging!
Hey awesome video, here are some simple things that improved my life significantly: 1. I stopped doom scrolling, and now I focus on clarity and mindfulness 2. I read all books on Mindbloomery, and honestly the mindset shift is real 3. Their "Power of assertiveness: Unlock your potential" changed my life completely 4. I started prioritizing real breaks instead of just switching from one screen to another
Thank you for sharing all this, I will definitely check them out!! Also 1000% agree with taking REAL breaks and not going from one stimulation to another one
I just love this idea! I will definitely be making a dopamine menu. Your video was wonderful, especially embracing the idea of imperfection. Thanks so much!
i've never heard of this, but it seems so simple and wonderful --I feel like I should have! I love this idea! It encourages creativity, thoughtfulness, and allows you to practice and understand the decision-making around what you actually prefer. This is so cool! i'm really glad this video was suggested to me.
what a great video! I use this tool with some of my clients who are university students, and I'm so glad to see someone making a video about their own process. Maybe someone who's doomscrolling on yt will find this video when they need it ❤
so cute! Didnt hear of this before but i will make this with my friends! This is the first video i see from you but it was very nice and chill style. Thank you.
I'm a perfectionist too, and knowing myself I probably wouldn't even have posted a video at all if what I made didn't turn out the way I wanted. So I am so inspired and happy to see that you powered through. I had never heard of a dopamine menu before this video, so I'm really grateful that you posted your result regardless of how it turned out! I am definitely gonna make one for myself now, and I'll try not to let perfectionism overshadow my excitement. I think yours turned out really nice, so I guess we're all just our own biggest critics.

3. Their "Power of assertiveness: Unlock your potential" changed my life completely
4. I started prioritizing real breaks instead of just switching from one screen to another
Thanks for sharing, I just got all books :D
Thank you for sharing all this, I will definitely check them out!! Also 1000% agree with taking REAL breaks and not going from one stimulation to another one
This video inspired me to make my own! This is such a fun idea!
This is beautiful! This is the first time I heard of a dopamine menu, I love how it turned out!
This was such a great idea! Thank you for sharing this!
I LOVE IT! I will be following suit. Didn't know about this until your video! Thanks!
you're welcome!!
This is such a good idea. I didn’t know about this before. I definitely want to make oneeee
Genius. Thanks.
OMG, this is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
This is the cutest most inspiring idea ever, i love it!
what a great video! I use this tool with some of my clients who are university students, and I'm so glad to see someone making a video about their own process. Maybe someone who's doomscrolling on yt will find this video when they need it ❤
Oh, I really like this! I sort of have something similar for rewards for doing chores, but I love the idea of making it as a menu
so cute! Didnt hear of this before but i will make this with my friends! This is the first video i see from you but it was very nice and chill style. Thank you.
This is great - thank you for the inspiration 💜
What a fabulous idea! Thank you for sharing this.
