    CORRECTION!, I mentioned servicing every 3000 miles but infact it's 6000 for an oil and filter change, but inspection at 3000!!! sorry about that. At least it's corrected here. Its all listed at 01:35 Thanks for watching the video.

    It looks like a magnificent motorcycle at an optimal market price and with excellent consumption to be able to do miles and miles without breaking the bank account. Royal Enfield has managed to surpass the previous model that was already good although somewhat old. Of course, a motorcycle to start and not stop and go on broken roads full of stones. A 100% authentic adventure motorcycle. Thanks for this great video and take care.😊

    Blimey “Steve”, you really pushed the boat out with this review. What a brilliant job you did. I was going to review it myself but now I don’t think I’ll bother, you’ve already covered everything !
    When I get to ride one, I’m expecting to come to the same conclusion.
    Hopefully the high speed vibes will reduce over time but we will have to wait for people to put miles on one before knowing for sure.
    I’d say that it’s likely to be an upgrade for those 411 owners who ride the roads a fair bit and it will be a decent commuter / road bike for everyone else. The 411 should be the better choice for folks who do 70+% off-road with their Himalayan because it is cheaper to drop and the engine characteristics will be better on all but fast open trails.
    But well done, you covered everything and it was great to hear that you were impressed by it.
    Thanks for the mention. Norman is blushing ! I do indeed have one of the better Himalayan UA-cam channels for the French region, you’re not wrong !
    Bon chance mon ami, y hasta luego 👍

    lovely review Steve. I certainly am tempted with the 450 for my next bike, but I need to out grow the 411 first, as I believe I still have a bit to go in being able to push the 411 to its limits on the greenlanes. Thanks for the shout out👍

    Don't worry about the screen flickering on camera, don't care. Looks are in the eye of the beholder, as they say.. Personally preferred the rugged looks of the old one.
    They actually listen to the most 411 complains and work treats on them.. Made tubeless version wheels too. The shims can't be adjusted, they must be changed with different thickness ones or grinded the old ones down if they are bigger.

    A good balanced review - as ever from you. For me this is going into battle with the small adv bikes like Honda's 500x and the cheaper Chinese bikes. When you do your longer test it would be interesting to hear your view. I will still keep my old himmy though!! Hope to see you on the Shotgun soon as im seriously interested in one.

      I think you're right there. Yes it could go up against the 500x , or the NX500 as it is now. Even though they are very different bikes the target market could merge due to both bikes being really good on the road.

    Interesting, thanks. I'm going to hold back before calling Chris for a test ride though - having too much fun on my 411, which I love. Enfield improved that bike each year, so I'm curious to see if they'll do the same with this - things like the vibration at motorway speeds might get smoothed out, and improvements to the silly windscreen as accessories arrive. Also, this 40hp, sub £6k class is starting to get to be a competitive sector - with the Triumph 400 and a half dozen other brands, so we might see more competition for it.

    When I got back on to two wheels in 2020, my first bike was a CRF250 Rally, which I liked very much, although a bit tall for me at 5’6” with 29” inside leg. It was not all day comfort, after riding it to Groningen in The Netherlands (I was working out there) I felt like i had been to a Michael Barrymores party. A month later it was stolen. My next ride was a tiger 900 Rally Pro (I know, little legs, tallest bike) which I took all over europe with me. That went in on a Speedmaster Chrome in March 2023 (at last I can flat foot with ease), however I still have the urge to go off roading and green lanes are my target.
    This brings me up to the height issue again, the CRF300 is taller than its predecessor, Then Royal Enfield introduced the Himalayan 450 at an 825 seat height and I had to try one.
    I did and before leaving placed my order for the tubeless version, hopefully it arrives in May. Cannot wait to take it to the ABR and try to gain some off road-ish experience. Oh and I am 61 so may have left it a bit late to learn new tricks 🤣

The 411 is a bike for exploring no matter if that is on road or off road it’ll pretty much go anywhere and it’s got that bonus of being easy to work on. I think this new bike is for mostly road riding and has some capability off road as well. But without that low down chug, and one thing nobody has spoken about as yet, is how high the weight is carried. On the 411 it’s all quite low but it suspect this bike will carry its weight much higher up, which will have an impact when it comes to off road riding. I’m sure it’ll be a big hit for RE, but when the CFMoto 450 comes out, I’m sure there’ll be some that will be left wondering if they made the right decision.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for watching. Yes the new 450 is a very different bike for sure. I edited out some of my thoughts on the off-roading side of things because it was only very light off road, but I could tell that for me it should do pretty well. 200mm travel "decent" suspension and also a stronger/yet lighter turn on the bars to get the 21inch front to turn seems to be a winner.
      It feels heavier on top for sure which is good for road riding (in this case) ,it's width dimensions are more narrow and you can grip the tank with your knees more naturally.
      I will be taking one off road soon when I get one of the press bikes. But I didnt want to risk denting this one ! ha!
      I'm not really a CF moto fan. Too many issues in the past which many dont mention but will come to light over time.

    WOW, 6 month servicing... My Beta enduro bike requires less servicing LOL (mainly due to how much/little I ride it).
    I love the look of this colour option, although is a shame that the optional tubeless wheels are not the same colour.
    It looks like it fits you well, and a nice touch that it has a centre stand stock. It has def grown on me since sitting on one at EICMA last year, a little lighter than my Aprilia Tuareg 660 and a lot lower too. The 3000 mile service interval is the same as the upcoming CFMoto MT450 Rally, so it is in the ballpark... I think the CFMoto valve check is at 24,000 miles though which keeps the cost of servicing down on that, and it has a 5yr waranty iirc too, not sure what the RE has?
    It'll def sell like hot cakes.

    My take on this bike after a three hour test drive on a 600 mile run in bike is it’s a great bike but let down ironically by the engine ! Us 411 owners mainly wanted a bit more power maybe for duel carriageways or motorways to get to those areas to explore. At 70 it’s sooo buzzy. So bad the mirrors are useless. 10-15% over 70 and the vibes go …. 60 the vibes aren’t there. The sat nav feature kills your phone battery. The side stand is way too short …. Smaller riders ( me) will have a problem getting it off the side stand when loaded with luggage. The screen isn’t ideal again 5’6” puts the air directly on my visor. A great next step but I’ll be keeping my 411 as doing the lanes the 411 is perfect. Interesting to see how it goes off road. All my views of course I respect others may find different

      Thanks very much for that....its good to hear from someone who has ahad a ride on one as well....I dont think its a big enough jump to trade in the 411 because most 411 owners really like there bike and so they should.
      I find all sat navs that link via bluetooth zap batterys,the tripper nav was a little like that too. I'm still hoping those vibes will go after 2k or so but time will tell.

      I had an hour and half test ride and couldn't agree more. It isn't a bad bike but it isn't as good as everyone is saying (or wants it to be). Mirror/screen/sidestand are all poor. The seat is rock hard and very uncomfortable. The engine is very buzzy, you couldn't sit at higher speeds for long. It really isn't a touring bike. Its a back land dawdler with some gentle green lanes. I prefer the looks of the old bike.

    • @yellownev
      @yellownev 2 місяці тому

      @@5uspectD3vice glad it’s not just me… I thought I was being a bit hard on it. The side stand is a real issue for shorter riders Take away the extra power from the engine as it’s not really useable at continued higher speeds due to the vibration the 411 at £3,800 otr is superb value for money. Add in the offer of £1000 trade in for my 2020 411 ( 17k on the clock) makes keeping the proven reliable home serviceable 411 an easy decision for now. Hopefully they’ll run in and loose the vibes. The lack of lower seat on the options and that side stand may well keep me away for this year.
