Great review on the XT5 and the Fujifilm system. I own the XT30II and have just ordered the XT5. Gone is all the canon gear! The Fujifilm cameras are just a pleasure to use and own, I think it’s an age thing as it takes me back to a 1970’s Practika 35mm I stared with. The Fujifilm colours and images are simply stunning and even better is hardly any editing to do!
Really well balanced view points. The high and low reflect my own experience. I’ve noticed that most who have drifted away from the XT5 may have lost sight of what attracted them in the first place. I believe it is important to spend little time watching reviews and more time mastering the Fuji system. The flaws are what forces us to become better photographers.
Thanks very much. I'm glad you liked the video. I agree with you. I sometimes think that people get hung up wanting a camera to be brilliant at everything so they almost go looking for weaknesses and as you say loose sight of what attracted them in the first place. I must admit to finding myself worried about all the autofocus controversy even though I haven't personally had any problems with it. Refocus Simon!... pun intended 😃
Thnx for your thoughts, appreciate your way of giving inside views on Fujifilm. I also came from Sony Full Frame and went to Fujifilm. Wonderful cameras, excellent lenses, very nice photographs. I always said: Sony is math, Fuji is soul
Thanks, really glad you liked the video. It is amazing how many people seem to feel the same about Fujifilm. As with all things on UA-cam there are also many who are going from Sony to Fujifilm. I guess all cameras are pretty great these days. Enjoy your photography.
I enjoyed watching this also being new to Fujifilm six months ago; thank you for taking the time to make this video. A Nikon user and then Canon for most of my (very long) amateur photo career I just wanted to try something 'completely different' which I am finding refreshing and enjoyable thus far. I look forward to more of your creative content. Good luck with subscribers.
I like your style of presenting, more a thoughtful conversation (albeit one way) than most UA-camrs tend to give us. And echoing the comments of others here, there's something about the X-T series that makes taking photographs more enjoyable and immersive compared with other brands. Eight years ago I bought a used X-T1 but sent it back because I told myself I couldn't afford any additional lenses, and then immediately regretted it. Then in 2023 I bought a used X-T3 and loved it, trading it in against a virtually new XT-5 early this year when I found a deal I couldn't refuse. But while I appreciate my X-T5, I don't enjoy using it quite as much as I did the X-T3!
@@johnr.watson7500 Hi John. Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you liked the video. It's interesting that you're not enjoying the XT5 as much as your XT3. What is it about that camera. I know I've felt underwhelmed by things as small as the shutter should and feel of various cameras, it's such a personal thing isn't it.
Absolutely loved hearing your thoughts. Appreciate you. Thoughts on Fujifilm sort of mirror my own. I just enjoy using them and there is something about the photos I get out of this camera that I absolutely love.
Great video. I have an XT2 and now dithering between upgrading to the XT5 or shifting to the Sony full frame platform. I liked one of the comments you received - ‘Sony is math - Fuji is soul.’ Of course I want both!
Thanks very much. Yes it's a difficult question. There's no doubt that both systems provide great cameras. Yes that comment does put it well. I wish you well with your choice.
Thanks. I have been a Nikon shooter and I still have and use them but this year I bought an XT-5 and lenses and I really like it, especially the manual controls, retro style and film simulations.
glad to have found you and your learned font of practical experience with photography-thank you and i look forward to seeing your channel grow and to the next instalments! I feel a kinship from the opposite direction (myself having carved out a career in sound with photog. taking an enthusiast position) and am curious about your successful musical exploits which i can see around your studio!
Hi, thanks for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I've been creating production music for many years now and got into photography over that past 10 years or so as it's increasingly difficult to earn a living from music alone. I'll look to making some videos about my journey at some point in the future.
Thanks for an excellent presentation describing use of the XT5. I’m a hobby photographer and live in regional Australia. I use both prime and zoom lenses for different photographic needs/wishes. I like travelling with my camera and 2025 will take us on a road trip in France. I’ve always liked travelling with the XF 16-55 f2.8, albeit the weight of the lens is/was a deterrent to carrying it. I’ve just spent hard earned money on the new MK2 version of the lens and hope the reduced weight and size make it a better travel companion.
Thanks very much I'm glad you liked the video. Yes it's an attractive proposition travelling with one flexible lens. The new 16-55 sounds very good. How have you found it?
@ Hi again, I’m still awaiting delivery of the new lens, so still have the previous version which I plan to sell. It’s still in mint condition. The weight change will be bliss, and if what I’ve read of the photographic quality of the new lens is matched by reality I’ll be very pleased. I’m travelling internationally in mid 2025 and the new lens will be travelling with me!
Fujifilm as a company seems to operate on a very different moral level than the others. They are truly passionate about their products. The passion is reflected in the design of the cameras and software. There are periodic updates that align with their philosophy of constant improvement. The film simulations are unmatched. Fuji understands color better than most and it shows. Good friends.
Like others have said, you’ve mirrored my thoughts on Fujifilm. I own an X-T5, X100VI and X-Pro3, all uniquely different, and all provide a very comfortable and pleasurable experience.
I really appreciate your thoughts. Just sold my Sony FF with all lenses and waiting for my new X-T5 to arrive. Being a Hobby photographer for nearly 15+ years, I had the blurry feeling of a need to change. Your thoughts on the Fuji support what I felt.. TY and greetings from Germany!
Thanks a lot. I’m on the edge of changing from Sony tif Fujifilm. But I need a hybrid system that is accepted in the pro world, too! Everyone uses Sony for videography.
@@danieldoernen9983 Yes it's an definitely a consideration for your camera to be acceptable to your clients. Maybe that's why some people seem to have dual setups for different use cases. Expensive though! There seems to be more questions about Fujifilm autofocus in video at the moment just to make things more difficult! Best of luck with your decisions.

Thanks that was great. As a visual artist (painter) you have cemented my resolve to buy the X-T5

Feeling is everything in photography. That's what makes it a fine art.
You’ve described my Fuji X-T5 experience exactly! Still hanging on to my Sony a7RIII & some big lenses, but charmed by the Fuji experience.
Yes it seems like a lot of people have a similar story. Hope you continue to enjoy your Fujifilm and photography journey.
