That's because vast majority of people that make reaction videos don't have their own opinion, thoughts. They're just laughing to the camera and behave like complete idiots just for views. I think we can agree that we can't put Alex into that group, he's far beyond that.
Manson's lyrics haven't been deep since HolyWood.... POSSIBLY a few songs in Golden Age, but thats being generous. Everything else is literally just rhyming stuff and limericks.
And many of us sadly moved on to adopting political and social activism as replacement faiths. I'm atheist myself, but I can recognize that lack of religious faith can create a void of meaning that many people still need to find some form of ideology or zealotry to fill it with. When I see mobs in the streets attacking strangers I can't imagine them as committed Christians. They've substituted one irrational cult for another.
I don't think Manson is 100% against religion. Seems more like it that he's against self-righteousness and fanaticism. Take a look at the lyrics of "Disposable Teens".
You need to hear Coma White by him. And what he's saying here with "I'm not a slave to a god that doesn't exist" isn't really saying he doesn't believe got doesn't exist, another famous lyric by him (off the same album) is, "I never really hated the one true God, but the god of the people I hated", meaning he hates the narrow-mindedness and constructs mainstream Christians try to fit God into.
He’s an atheist. Maybe he’s saying one true god, in the sense of self as god, is the one he never really hated. Hating the god of the people is understandable as there lies judgement, fear, persecution, and as history has proven many times over...even death.
The columbine massacre was on 20 April 1999, this song was released in 2000, along with Disposable Teens. Manson didn't inspire the shooting, he dedicated these songs to it AFTER it happened.
definitely a big song for me when i was a kid, that chorus is so simple but so effective, I was raised in a pretty strict catholic culture which was based on guilt and shame and it was a pretty toxic environment for someone who really just never felt the presence of any god, Manson is really good at putting those kinds of experiences in to clear and evocative and provocative language. you should definitely react to (S)aint or The Dope Show.
I completely agree. As someone who hasn't gone through drug addiction and/or suicidal thoughts or anything in that manner, it doesn't directly impact me like that. It impacts me b/c I've been around those types of things to where I can relate indirectly. It's such an amazing song that showcases that he's willing to perform a slow song and do it in an amazing manner.
Coma White is literally my lullaby when I can't sleep. I put it on repeat and after the 2nd or 3rd play through I start drifting off. some of the best nights of sleep I ever get start off this way.
One thing ive always love about metal is that buried under the screams and anger there are real meanings in there. Personally metal has dragged me through the hell that was childhood and given me the fight, the strength and the courage to stay strong and not be worn down by those around me. When you watch these metal videos i get all excited to see someone experience this whole genre that means so much to me. And its even better to see someone actually give it a chance and listening to it with an open mind and heart.
If you liked this you should check out Manson's song called Lunchbox. It's based off of an incident that happened in Florida where a kid beat his bully with his metal lunchbox. The song is fantastic.
Matthew Selby Lunchbox" is the second single and the third track of the album. It was inspired by a piece of legislation dating back to 1972, which makes it illegal to have metal lunchboxes in schools. The song tells the story of a school age child who is bullied and uses his own lunchbox as a weapon in retaliation, waiting for the day he can "grow up to be a big rock and roll star" who is never intimidated by others. The earliest recording of this song dates back to the band's After School Special cassette tape, released in December 1991. The album version of "Lunchbox" samples The Crazy World of Arthur Brown song "Fire".
There is so much great music out there im not going to waste my time on good. He made 2 really good songs but lets not get carried away lol and as far as human goes? Gonna pass on him being a role model LMAO
Brian Johnson When did I say songs? I said him as a person, his way of thinking, speaking, answering questions... I enjoy his music but it's not like It's the best thing in the world. For real, watch a few interviews on UA-cam and you will understand what I mean. He always gets "attacked" by the interviewer and keeps it calm and answers politely. Specially in older interviews Also. Why wouldn't he be a good role model? Coz he looks "funny"? That's a silly reason
Ahhhhhhhh my bad. I guess i just assumed. Good points. And no not how he looks. His music isnt exactly what i would want my kids or grand kids listening to....
I just want to say thank you. Thank you so much for acknowledging the genius of his lyrics, because a lot of people just stay stuck on his character and not the music itself.
I'm appreciating you appreciating his lyrics. :) Manson is almost always giving you something to reflect on and a lot of people overlook that about him.
You are really good at unpacking lyrics. Like, insanely good at finding the meaning hidden there. That's one of the main reasons I've started listening to your videos, your Outsider perspective on the metal genre really opens up stuff.
Thanks for liking my reply Alex! Your channel is fucking dope dude! Love that you are so enthusiastic about metal and rock in general. Keep up the work! I expecially lile that you are interested in Marilyn manson. Im a big fan of him too, one of my all time favorite people/artists🤘🤘🤘🤘 keep up your awesome ass videos!
This album “holywood in the valley of the shadow of death” is still one of my favorite albums of all time. I’m 30 now and first bought it when I was 17 or so in high school. I have it on Vinyl, and a copy on cd. I still listen to it to this day.
I love your reaction video! You actually break down the lyrics and understand it. Lots of people only see him as a bad person and dont acknowledge the beauty of his music.
This song is from the album Holy Wood, the most important and crucial album they ever made. Manson wrote the album in a direct response to the media, some politicians and the Christian Right unjustly and incorrectly blaming him for the atrocity of the Columbine school murders/suicides. Which the two kids committed due in part to bullying. They were not the cool kids, the jocks or the star athletes. They were different. They were antisocial. They were troubled. They were alone in their pain; angry and depressed. And in fact they weren’t even fans of his music and thought he was lame. I lived through this time in history; I was 19 when Columbine happened, and remember it like it was yesterday. It was horrible how politicians and evangelicals used an atrocity and tragedy like Columbine for their own platforms and agendas in which to take down music they ruled and judged as “inappropriate”. While at the same time the US Government was bombing and killing millions in the Iraq War and in Kosovo. While also at the same time, they were making a direct attack on freedom of speech and freedom of artistic expression. Manson received death threats and bomb scares. He was unfairly persecuted and censored (look at the Holy Wood cover, its all there). He almost left music after Columbine. He almost decided to hang it up because of it. But instead he decided to FIGHT SONG back. Penned this album and released it, saying my response is in my lyrics. And in Fight Song, that’s on full display. Seen from this perspective, the lyrics pack an even bigger punch. Holy Wood is a masterpiece. A true masterpiece of an album, and the most important one of his career. Manson is a genius, artist, original, legend. He was the greatest voice of my generation; maybe the last great voice of any generation. The last true rock star, there will never be another one like him. It would be so great if you would do some full album reviews of Manson’s work, including Holy Wood. Thanks for your contribution, enjoyed the video🖤
It's funny that what you read about the video called the teams 'the beautiful people' and 'the nobodies', because two of his songs that were also singles were... The Beautiful People, and The Nobodies, both of which you should put on your list to check out. Some other great ones are Coma White, Tourniquet, Irresponsible Hate Anthem, and The Reflecting God.
You should try... Marilyn Manson: The Beautiful People, tourniquet, The Dope Show, Antichrist Superstar, I don't like the drugs, slow motion..... And then for relaxing in the afternoon listen to Tool: prison sex
Tool is amazing as hell. Saw them last year, and I'll never forget it. They're so rarely talked about, but sell out a coliseum in MINUTES. I love this band.
This song came out right after the Columbine Massacre, which he was partly blamed on cause Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold used to listen to Manson's songs and the media and people in general were all up on him saying that his "violent lyrics" was a trigger to those shitheads. So in this song he replies criticizing America's glorification of violence and the football pun on the title says it all
the media claimed they were manson fans, but that was widely debunked and disproven, he was just a scapegoat, people are afraid of what they don't understand
Now some of the real Marilyn Manson stuff, (from their best album "Holy Wood") great reaction man ! You should react to Target Audience (my favorite song by them and one their best lyrics too),Coma White (great song) and his interview about the Columbine massacre, one of the best interviews with him, it really shows how smart he is (besides his lyrics in the songs of course)
I love him in interviews honestly, he's very articulate and collected that it often catches the interviewer off guard. He's an intelligent guy, he uses the "shock" factor to his advantage and certainly pushes boundaries.
I heard once that this song is about the commercialization of violence, which makes a lot of sense to me. And I think you did a really good job analyzing the lyrics. You definitely pointed out some things I never noticed. Keep up the good work. And you should check out his song If I Was Your Vampire. I'm curious what you think of it
I heard that it was about the hypocrisy that we teach our children violence through sports starting at a young age. Then get outraged when they act out violently.
This is one of my favorite Marilyn Manson songs, it's really nice to see people who usually listen to other music react to different music. Nice video!
I think every new person to manson needs to start in this order. Sweet dreams, beautiful people, dope show, coma white, I don't like the drugs, obscene, kill4me. Shows alot of his diversity
Do you understand what a cover song is? It's a song by the group Eurythmics. They hold the copyright I'm pretty sure. I'm just saying this because the lyrics aren't Manson's. Go watch or listen to the original.
Catman DUU I'm very aware of who originally sang it, and what a cover song is. I also know Manson purchased the rights the song, then made his version " cover ", and placed a copy right on it. This argument is elementary, don't test my knowledge.
If you do Coma White as well, you'll have done all the Manson I had on my mix cd's as a teenager. Shit's sooo good. However, I'm gonna keep pestering you for Strapping Young Lad - Love? or Wrongside. :P
This was awesome. So cool to see somebody reacting the same way I did back when it was first released. It's great to see that his music and visuals are still having an effect on people like this!
The One X please no...we all know those songs, listen to his other way better songs not the ones made for people that dont listen MM. I was talking right now how I hate people suggesting the most commun songs and I see this comment mentioning the exact two that I dont want him to waste his time with. Please no,no ,no,no ,no.....NO
Marilyn Manson's done way better songs. These songs are not bad. Not bad at all. The thing is that these are too famous and there are songs worth listening to more than these. To be honest I don't like Sweet Dreams just becouse when someone says Marilyn Manson be instantly think of SDreams and thinks about Manson as a scarry figure.
but sweet dreams is only a cover : ) original is from Euryhtmics. I would recommend to listen to original songs by MM :3 And dont get me wrong - I LOVE his cover version, its awesome to dance to !
Respect to you for being open minded to music and not judging. Marilyn Manson is so intellectual and so much more than his outer appearance. Welcome to the Manson world. You'll be hooked now. I'm in love with him. He is a legend to me.
Man That You Fear is by far my favorite Manson song. It's much calmer than most of his other stuff, but I can guarantee the lyrics will hit you just as hard.
Pease do some machine head - Locust - Aesthetics of hate - The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears - Ten Ton Hammer - Davidian - Old Keep up the good work. Cheers
So awesome to see someone be so open minded about one of my all time favorite artists. PLEASE react to “I don’t like the drugs, but the drugs like me” his play on words in that song are GENUIS. Love your video!
Thats what Manson is about.... He criticizes the church (not faith), society and people with their prejudices. And thats good because lets be honest these things are not set up right.
Love ur manson reaction videos, and, also love that u understand and can get the real message and social problems what is manson really talking and performing about! Keep doing this videos bro!
Thank you. I appreciate the fact that you are open to listening to music that would typically not be your style. I wish more people would branch out of their musical comfort zone with an open mind like you do. Just subscribed, keep up the awesome content.
Marilyn Manson is boss. Depending on what album you listen to, each will be lyrically themed differently. This song is from holy wood, even the album cover is the same as you described. Marilyn Manson on the cross with half his jaw missing. The dude is a legend, really makes you think when you properly listen to his music and take it all in
I love Manson been a fan since I was 12 (34 now) even as a kid he goes for the artistic shock which I love, he is such a intelligent person people don’t realize that. The more I watch your channel I appreciate you more and more you actually dig deep into the band or artists you truly appreciate the music and the true talent the bands have. Metal-Punk gets under appreciated over looked so much.
I'm a huge Manson fan and have been since his first album. I found your videos because of your reaction videos of his stuff. I am now subscribed to your channel. :) Watching you break down Manson's stuff with an open mind and with such intelligent interpretations of the lyrics made me happy. Most people are so quick to judge him (which you know since you have watched his interviews). It's nice to see someone react positively for a change. Can't wait to watch more of your videos. So far I've only seen the Manson ones. :)
Just FYI, which you may already be aware of: this song is from the album Holy Wood. The album that was Manson’s answer to the unjust, unfounded blame placed on him after the Columbine school shooting massacre. And his view on that entire tragedy itself, from different angles. Seen from that perspective, the lyrics of this song can take on a whole other set of multiple meanings. It’s also one of the greatest, most profound and powerful albums ever made.
Still my damn favorite song of all times...especially since twiggy was still in the band and this is when Mansons music was at its very best in my opinion ..ughhh twiggy ♡ ....you defff have a new sub m'dear...
been a fan of MM since the beginning when i was a kid i always felt like the freak and the odd man out is music basically guided me out of adolescence. I am still a freak but I am what I am and I like what I am, I don't ever trying to be anything that I am not anymore.
I was a big fan of Marilyn Mason back when he came out... those were the last few years of high school for me.. and he helped me out alot in those days. I was also bully and sometimes really thought of killing myself because of it. but one of his songs really made me think why the hell do that... The line that really helped me was "I don;t have enough middle fingers, I don;t believe in suicide." from the song Irresponsible Hate Anthem. that really stayed with me. I don't listen to marilyn anymore but i will always thank him for what he has done, and will always respect him. but also like to thank you for understanding what he stands for. I to always had to explain what he means to most people back in those days. they were so many f'ed up rumors about him it wasn't funny. going to stop now before i write a book lol.. keep up with the videos dude. i am so hooked on them and enjoying seeing someone taking a metal journey.
I usually hate reaction videos of all kinds but I really like yours!
That's because vast majority of people that make reaction videos don't have their own opinion, thoughts. They're just laughing to the camera and behave like complete idiots just for views. I think we can agree that we can't put Alex into that group, he's far beyond that.

Jun C id ask him to react to Linkin Park but I wouldnt watch still too emotional music is all I have
Linkin park😍😍
I think it's because he gives a review and an opinionated interpretation of the content. It's a legitimate reaction
If Marilyn Manson played at the football games at my old school back in the day, we probably would have won more games.
he has said that his only moral is that he doesn't believe in sports...
Simon András Péter Then don’t watch them.
Marilyn Manson is against sports. It's self-harm for entertainment and jocks are douchebags.
Johnny #59 Generally.
Saylos Relyks Football players would be listening to Rap anyway, they won’t comprehend Manson’s music
Happy to see you like Manson, he is a good philosopher.
Marilyn Manson's lyrics are brilliant in every song, he is very-very smart...
SAY10 I think as he got older, his lyrics got less involved and easier to consume. This last album was a nice refresh to having lyrical focus
SAY10 watch on UA-cam 14th satan backwards Marilyn Manson

Manson's lyrics haven't been deep since HolyWood.... POSSIBLY a few songs in Golden Age, but thats being generous. Everything else is literally just rhyming stuff and limericks.
Manson is the "the voice" of a generation that is pulling away from the religious oppression that has held populations down for centuries.
He was one of the greatest voices of my generation. Maybe the last great voice of any generation...
Although I agree with you, @@ScienceWinsEveryTime, there is nothing wrong with activism.
I don't think Manson is 100% against religion. Seems more like it that he's against self-righteousness and fanaticism. Take a look at the lyrics of "Disposable Teens".
Do you think that’s theses type of song could come back in 2021 if somebody wrote this type of song?

Back in the 90s this song caused quite a bit of controversy
This is from the 2000's and is probably inspired by the columbine massacre
This song wasn't released until 2001...
Yeah but its kinda hard to stir controversy anymore with Agent Orange in the charge taking care of it every day by himself lol
The columbine massacre was on 20 April 1999, this song was released in 2000, along with Disposable Teens. Manson didn't inspire the shooting, he dedicated these songs to it AFTER it happened.

Best reviewer/react channel I've ever watched. Keep up the good work, man. React to left behind by Slipknot
RIP momma, you always told me this was your favorite song by manson of all time and now these lyrics run deeper into my veins of even though of you
I think every new person to manson needs to start in this order. Sweet dreams, beautiful people, dope show, coma white, I don't like the drugs, obscene, kill4me. Shows alot of his diversity
Sweet Dreams is not a Manson song, it's a cover.
Catman DUU tomato or tomato, get tf out of here with that b.s. If it's copywritten by said artist, then it's their gd song.
Jon Hubbard Sweet Dreams is such a played out song!!! That's like asking for Beautiful People..... ugh
Yes! I couldn't think of a more perfect Marilyn Manson song for you to react to!
If you do Coma White as well, you'll have done all the Manson I had on my mix cd's as a teenager. Shit's sooo good.
However, I'm gonna keep pestering you for Strapping Young Lad - Love? or Wrongside. :P
Love? For sure. Or Deadhead by Devin
This was awesome. So cool to see somebody reacting the same way I did back when it was first released. It's great to see that his music and visuals are still having an effect on people like this!
Can u do the beautiful people or sweet dreams by marylin manson
The One X please no...we all know those songs, listen to his other way better songs not the ones made for people that dont listen MM. I was talking right now how I hate people suggesting the most commun songs and I see this comment mentioning the exact two that I dont want him to waste his time with. Please no,no ,no,no ,no.....NO
Those are his crappy mainstream songs and 1 he didn't even write
Kinda suprised he hasn't tbh, really good songs so I hope he checks it out in the near future
Check out Say10 by Marilyn Manson, it would be interesting to see your reaction, plus Johnny Depp is in it!!
I honestly hate his last album, he is so damn talented though. I don't like the lyrics in Heaven Upside Down. :/
I love how you aren't prejudice towards him, you actually understand his reasons for what he says and does ❤

Didn’t he do that already?
Marilyn Manson is boss. Depending on what album you listen to, each will be lyrically themed differently. This song is from holy wood, even the album cover is the same as you described. Marilyn Manson on the cross with half his jaw missing. The dude is a legend, really makes you think when you properly listen to his music and take it all in
This is the new shit or sAINT
IBozooo Hold the "S" because I am an AIN'T..
Should do a video on the song roots bloody roots by supultra
I'm a huge Manson fan and have been since his first album. I found your videos because of your reaction videos of his stuff. I am now subscribed to your channel. :)
Watching you break down Manson's stuff with an open mind and with such intelligent interpretations of the lyrics made me happy. Most people are so quick to judge him (which you know since you have watched his interviews). It's nice to see someone react positively for a change.
Can't wait to watch more of your videos. So far I've only seen the Manson ones. :)
Lindsay Osterhoff super stoked you made it to the channel! I love Manson too!!
Dude you should listen to Ghost they have some amazing songs I suggest year zero or square hammer
he is a damn good philospher.
React to After the burial - lost in the static
Just FYI, which you may already be aware of: this song is from the album Holy Wood. The album that was Manson’s answer to the unjust, unfounded blame placed on him after the Columbine school shooting massacre. And his view on that entire tragedy itself, from different angles. Seen from that perspective, the lyrics of this song can take on a whole other set of multiple meanings. It’s also one of the greatest, most profound and powerful albums ever made.

Adhley Severeyns welcome to the family! :)
been a fan of MM since the beginning when i was a kid i always felt like the freak and the odd man out is music basically guided me out of adolescence. I am still a freak but I am what I am and I like what I am, I don't ever trying to be anything that I am not anymore.
Christopher Doxtator never feel like the freak! Or rather, always feel like the freak. I do! Gotta stand out while everyone tries to fit in
Thank u for ur reaction on it. Didnt understand most of the lyrics before i saw ur video :D
This song was part of my senior research project back in 2008. Aced it!! He will always be my favorite!
Thank you! people never bother to read the lyrics,
you made me very happy
There are some amazing Live performances of this Song back in the days
