Lex identifying this as art is probably the best and most to-the-point description I have ever heard of Manson's music. I'm somewhat of a Manson connoisseur and for me, the pinnacle of Manson's artistry and production is in the album Mechanical Animals. The songs 'The Last Day On Earth', 'Mechanical Animals', and 'Disassociative' are absolutely incredible masterpieces.
I have always understood this song to be in two steps. 1) The singing character is the demagogue in the concept album. He hates the elites and their beauty culture. 2) His hate for them is a motivator for him to take power over all of humanity and "fix" them, thus the "fascism will take it away." Also, Manson is not a fascist. He is singing a character that is a metaphor for American conservatism. I wouldn't say Manson's lyrics can be taken as his own views verbatim. He is almost always illustrating the world provacatively, and in this song's case providing a psychological explanation for why such an event (the event happening on the concept album) can be possible.
I grew up in the same town as Manson and my little band practiced in the same warehouse complex as Marilyn Manson and the Spooky kids. You mentioned NIN, I saw them in a Miami club with Meat Beat Manifesto I remember Manson was talking to Trent and we were like "wow he knows NIN." Anyway that warehouse had the most eclectic mix of band practicing on any given night. On bay would have a guy wilt welding goggles and a synth the next would be thrash metal, then 3 people beating on various large metal pieces of garbage with someone reading poetry over the "beat". manson deals with a lot of the darker parts of the human psyche in every album i can think of. never deny them because that only makes them stronger and eventually they "burst out" in the worst way possible. mansons music is unapologetic and honest and shows just how smart he is.
A lot of people don’t know just how multi cultural Marilyn Manson is. Marilyn Manson performed at Astro World a few years ago. Which is a hip hop music fest. He is close friends with Travis Scott and Lil Uzi Vert and even Justin Bieber. I think that’s why Manson is so well known even to those who don’t listen to his music. He breaks out of his comfort zone and was the only rockstar to perform at a hip hop fest. People were getting down with it too. Nobody really understood why he was there in the first place but you could tell that they appreciated him for being there.

You guys weren't even alive in 1996 when this came out. I just started highschool. My dad actually heard this on MTV before I did and he showed me. Marilyn Manson actually gets better and more creative each release. You never know what to expect. Every album is so different from the next. I listen to mainly Thrash Metal now but outside of Thrash Metal. Marilyn Manson is in my top 10 favorites all day. He has 11 studio albums nothing is at all bad. That is a pretty large discography of music already in his 30 year music career.
I saw them first in 1993, then again in 1994 when they opened for Danzig and then again for NIN. I saw them at least 20 times from 1993 to 1996. My personal opinion, their first album is a masterpiece and everything that came after wasn’t quite as good. Mostly due to them kicking out the guitarist who was also the songwriter and the one who came up with the concept of the entire band.
I loved Marilyn Manson growing up, he's well spoken and intelligent - watch his interviews he's a fascinating person. I was devastated when I could no longer deny he was a trash human being.. From a musical standpoint I do highly recommend his cover of Johnny Cash's " Gods Gonna Cut You Down" .

@@paulshaw9953 Everyone's being called out by haters and then cancelled. It's so easy to post something on social media and ruin the reputation and career of those who have success like Johnny Depp, Kevin Spacey, Dave Ellefson, Louis C.K., Ben Affleck, Sylvester Stallone, Nick Carter, and the list goes on and on. People always like to believe if someone is accused of doing something bad; ''guilty until proven innocent.'' and that's more of a problem to cancel people based on random accusations without evidence than actually being a little dick to someone on private life.
There are people who have accused him of shit without the intent to get him 'cancelled' but just merely to explain why they don't like him. Other bands saying that he's pissed in their food and drinks on tours and shit. The dude very clearly has boundary issues and it bleeds into even the live performances sometimes. Good ups. First time I saw him was in '93 as The Spooky Kids, and they were opening for Genitorturers somewhere in Orlando. Speaking of Gen, 120 Days of Genitorture is a pretty solid album.
1:37 that noise is actually a distorted vocal. He's saying, "Swoop down on the town, and kill everyone that wasn't beautiful". It's a sample taken from the song "Dune Buggy", from his early years before he became famous, and his band was known as Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids.
Marilyn Manson and Eminem were good friends because they both shocked the world with their lyrics in their own genre of music. Manson has a huge following with die hard fans wearing top hats to concerts. I absolutely love lex”s comments… she is usually one my idea of the songs…. And seems more opened minded about music, Love you girl
Love this song! Marilyn never disappoints. Funny he went to a Christian school until about the 10th grade. He’s also very intelligent fellow.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve moshed to this at clubs and MM gigs! An absolutely legendary song!
His latest one is one of my favorite from him, i've been following his career since 1995, i love everything he did.
Funny you compared him to Rob Zombie, John 5 was Mansion lead guitar player and he is now Zombies lead guitarist.
After Kurt died, I turned to Manson, and strangely it filled some of the void Cobain left behind. Definitely best music made in 1996 right here.
Very much a separate the art from the artist kinda deal now... this album is still really great all these years later but yeah... I'd struggle to keep putting money in his pocket knowing more and more what a dick he is
@@paulshaw9953 Do you guys mind elaborating? I haven't really followed him since he was "popular" so to speak.
@@kutark he's been called out by many women recently for being abusive
I think it's valid to wait for evidence still, all I'm saying is that there's a lot that also makes the suspicion of him valid.
Love the contacts, Lex! Some small fangs would compliment them awesomely!
In an interview Mason admitted to putting background noises in his song intended to aggravate and frustrate his listeners.
I remember the time I discovered the hidden track on this album. Scared the crap out of me.
You know you watch a channel a lot when you finish watching the video, go to "like" it, just to realize that you've already liked it months ago. I friggin love you guys!
Also, please bring back the contacts Lex! They look cool af!
Lex is on a savage frequency. Brad is so far away. Catch up brother.
I feel like most music just goes over his head. Doesnt seem to have a musical bone in his body... especially compared to her.
@@3allz yep absolutely it's very frustrating watching someone who's clearly not even into music have a reaction channel to music. Brad if you're reading this I'm sure you think you like music but no, you don't
Haha, Brad's impression of "the beahutihul pehhhopuhhl" was great!
Brad doing that wooobly sound has me dead. I busted up laughing so hard!
Manson is one of the greatest living poet/whatever he is. "Light a candle for the sinner. Set the world on fire"
oh damn that guitar in the beginning is a sound id make in my head for as long as i can remember lol. But had no idea what it was from. Must've been in tony hawk?
Lex killed with the eyes. Happy for you Brad. Love you guys. Straight Gang Gang.
Wow! The first time hearing anything from Manson?! That’s crazy!!! Such a crazy catalog! Have fun!!!
Tainted love, the nobodies, the new sh!t and lunchbox should be your next Manson songs
Lex could write a dissertation on the Jungian Shadow as it is expressed in Rock Music. You are so intuitive to the deeper messages in the music, you really are gifted!
Love your reaction videos, Brad & Lex :) Keep doing what you do!
Really love watching n people who listen to metal for the first time and really get into it ,like she can't help but to smile n groove to it , and respect the music too, she gets it ,Great personality n pretty fun to watch , Manson is the reason I listen to metal music he got alot of greaT music
Finally! I've been waiting for this day !
Best reaction I've ever seen. Love how you guys dove into it like that. If I could subscribe twice, I would.
I seen MM live years ago and I will tell ya he puts on absolutely one of the best shows...period.
He is a showman top notch, well he was back when I seen him in the 90s. .
Your eyes are popping in this one...great reaction you two!!
One of my very best friends ever loved Manson even when he was sick that was his make a wish to meet Manson I can't hear anything by him without remembering my brother great reaction 🤘🤘
No Matter What People Might Say Or Like/Dislike Marilyn,, He Is Actually A Highly Intelligent & Artistic Person.
havent missed him live in 15 years one of the best live performers ever
Great video reaction. Manson is deep, he's not just out to shock people he has something deep to say.
I LOVE LEX!!! She's a metal head at heart.🖤🖤
Lex! You freaking nailed this song! Nice. The contacts are killing it. Intelligent and gorge? If I were into women, Id be so geeking out on you
Marilyn Manson and Eminem were good friends because they both shocked the world with their lyrics in their own genre of music. Manson has a huge following with die hard fans wearing top hats to concerts.
I went to a Manson concert had so much fun and got floor seats, a bucket was being passed around and everyone was spitting in it, the bucket made its way back up to the stage and a band members poured it on himself….. I was not expecting that
Yes! love that music too, great reaction guys
