    No, they don't charge you 4200 for stitching :) That buys you the GTS leather/alcantara, with carbon fibre pieces, etc - and the deviated stitching is included. If you wanted to configure the stitching only on a Boxster S, it would cost you ca 1500. You have to configure every piece on the door separately, 3 or 4 pieces per door makes ca 600 per door, plus whatever for the dash...

    Great video of a true Iconic car. The 2014 version is the one. Love how the buyer at 5:04 deliberately took the grand total to $100K club lol.
    Sadly, the tree-huggers have killed off this wonderful timeless-looking motor with the new nerfed one in no way worthy of the name. It sounds like an grumpy baby compared to this!

  • @DriverGuy23

    Or you can buy a used '14 Cayman S with PDK, Sports Chrono, PASM, PTV (LSD), Bose, Sports Exhaust, Carbon Ceramic Brakes, Full Leather, & other options with only 8k miles for $59k, that's what I did. Essentially, a GTS without the alcantara & carbon fiber for $40k less. Let those old rich folks pay $100k for a new Cayman & then snatch it up 2 years later for a big savings!

      Also other than paying for the oil change what did the warranty cover that you didn't have to pay for? Oil change 250 plus labor so what was the total cost? You buy your tires from tire rack right?

    I have one of the or the last last allocation for a 2016 Cayman GTS in Canada. So the question is keep it or order the new Caymsn 718S. What say you Motormouth Canada? Keep the order or order the new 718S? You have driven both.

    • @Motormouth...
      @Motormouth...  8 років тому +3

      +GalacticosFC The new 718 is better in every way except the sound it makes. This new 718 is almost as quick as the GT4. If you can live with the turbo-4, I say get the new one. Many believe the GTS is a special car but it really is a last-year package to get people interested in the car before the new car arrives. Just my thoughts, you have to decide...

    • @TheTreyVidz
      @TheTreyVidz 8 років тому +3

      I would not ever suggest it. Probably should look for a Cayenne or maybe get this and a SUV/Truck. I live in Canada as well and rear wheel drive does not do well, you don't want to drive a car like this in snow..

    • @a64738
      @a64738 3 місяці тому

      @@TheTreyVidz I hate FWD in winter, I want AWD or RWD for winter driving. And the non lowered versions of Porsche Cayman or even better 911 do good to great in the winter (the 911 is almost like AWD because of all that weight over the driving wheels).

      Wow - better in every way except the sound. That is saying a lot given the way many journalists raved about the GTS - including Steve Sutcliffe, Chris Harris and others. Also, for me, the front bumper looks better. And like my Ferrari 360, the sound is certainly part of the driving experience.
      Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate your honesty.

    • @Motormouth...
      @Motormouth...  8 років тому +1

      +stingers98 The GTS is a great car but it's only a slight improvement over the regular S. These special packages always come out for the last year of production before a new car arrives. BTW, there are a lot of GTS for sale right now, you could buy one used and trade it in on the new S.

    • @csnoopy
      @csnoopy 7 років тому

      Motormouth Canada I'm really hesitant on buying a used 2016 GTS with 5k miles on it because of resale value. I know that it's the last Cayman with a NA 6 cylinder engine, and it's a GTS. But I really don't know if it's price would appreciate with time. And if it it does then how long do I have to wait for that to happen? To me in addition to the great driving experience, I also see it as an investment opportunity.

    • @seinsmeld13
      @seinsmeld13 7 років тому

      C Snoopy Who care about resale I know I don't. I bought my 09 Boxster S in 2011. I've put 50,000 km on it in 5 years. I think I'll keep it as I don't want a 4 cylinder Porsche. Anyway, life goes on.

    • @Motormouth...
      @Motormouth...  7 років тому

      C Snoopy this is not an investment-grade Porsche. It is a modern-day sports car and will depreciate just like any other vehicle. It might not appreciate at the same speed as some other cars but it will depreciate. If you want to buy the car and enjoy it and know that it will not be worth as much in the long run. Investment-grade cars need to be ultra rare and usually 20-plus years old for them to appreciate in value and this is not that

      Anderson Ontario allows manufacturers to mass-register their vehicles, so test vehicles very often originate in Ontario. BC is a bit pickier with mass-registration, so they're featured less often.
      I'm about 90% sure that's the answer.

    Wouldn't the alcantara steering wheel get all nasty from the natural sweat/oils and dirt on people's hands? Plus, what if you're eating a cheeseburger and driving? Then get fat / greese on the steering wheel? I don't see it washing off particularly well. Or, what if I'm shifting with my cheeseburger in hand, and the burger falls apart mid-shift and lands on the alcantara shift boot?? Not cool man. Not cool.
