Excellent review! You're wisdom of word choice is exceptional. I was hanging on every word when you talked about the one "criticism" of the car, the steering. This is the type of review that can assist most people to make a decision to buy or not buy this car without even driving it. I'm surprised you only have 30,000 views. Keep up the great work! (BTW...I will most likely buy this car to replace my 2012 Boxster S Black Edition).
Thanks for your comment! I really appreciate it. Glad to know that someone is paying attention to my choice of words. To be honest, if I were you, unless you wanted a newer generation of car, the steering in your '12 Boxster is superior...
First timer on your review and i liked it a lot. A lot more real life style than some other hardcore testers that don't translate with an average driver. Good job
Great review of the GTS. Well made points, spaced and phrased appropriately with the right balance of technical info and seat of the pants driving pleasure. The Cayman GTS is definitely at the top of my road sports car list!
Subscribed from this review. I've driven a GTS on track and you were able to put in words that I agree with but didn't think of myself. Very well thought out comments! The steering is like you said, not perfect but still good and overall the car provides a great driving experience.
Terrific review! I agree with KyleSVT. He doesn't repeat what other journalists have said. Most journalist repeat each other. He brings up a lot of good points. Good and bad. I'd like to see him review the GT3 RS. Will watch his GT3 review. Should be just as good. :) Keep up the great work...name? :)
What an amazing review of an amazing car! In amongst the dozens of snotty nosed posers who just want the world to see how much money they have and how often they buy new cars but with such limited technical knowledge...this is so insightful, technically brilliant AND balanced and with realistic perspective!! 🏆
Very good work, man. People don't realize how much work goes into making a high quality video like this. Great video work and also good on camera dialogue. I have my work cut out for me ;)
+My Garage Tv Thank you so much! Yes, most people don't realize how much work it is... and how much practice it takes to talk comfortably in front of the camera. I still have things to improve on, but I appreciate your comments and encouragement. Will check out your channel too.
wow, what a great review. kudos to your way with words, camera angles, editting, etc. I am now a subscriber, and also can't wait to take 'livery of my GTS!
+driveopolis you changed your SN? Alcantara seats, convenience package, x73 suspension, smoking package (haha), 20" sport chrono wheels, rear backup only, bose w infotainment. kept it under $89k USD. And got some additional dealer discount.
+Eugene Oh That's a really nice spec, Eugene. Do you mean my youtube name? Yes it's been renamed from Driving Vancouver to driveopollis. Easier for the search engines to pick up. @driveopolis if you wish to follow! Did you get your car yet?
Great review, I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on one of the few remaining new gts' left on the lot but not sure if I will yearn for more power and torque that is being seen out of the 718s... That f6 noise though... Pure sexiness
+james737 Thanks james. Glad you're enjoying the Boxster GTS manual! I think the big reason I would enjoy a Boxster GTS more is that the open top lets you take in even more of that glorious flat 6 sound. Enjoy in good health.
+driveopolis thanks for the reply, a quick question about the gts. my friend has an 08 cayman s and i absolutely love to drive that car, have you ever driven the 987 cayman? what are the key differences between the 987 and the 718. thanks again.
Yes, I used to have a 987 Cayman S. If you're talking about the yet to be released new 718 Cayman, it'll be hard to say. The 718 will be turbo charged instead of naturally aspirated. It also has electric assist steering, just like the 981 in my review above. The 987 your friend owns has hydraulic. I'll reserve judgment until I actually drive the new 718 but I suspect it'll be an improved and polished version of what we know in the 981.
Yeah, the 987 vs 981 is a pretty drastic difference. The quality of the interior is a big step up in the 981. Much more modern and the quality of construction and materials have improved. The car's driving experience also feels less crude and more refined. It does feel a little more filtered now and you lose a lot of the 'raw feeling' sensations that you got in the 987 cars. The steering has also lost a lot of feedback and feel since it went electric assist. Overall it's a much better car. Is it a more enjoyable Cayman? I think it would be down to preference. I can conceivably see people who prefer the 987 for the rawness and purity of driving feel. You need to try both!
+driveopolis I use 2 sims, iracing (not a really good one) and assetto corsa (this one is amazing, the videos with the Shelby Cobra, BMW M3 and Lamborghini are done with Assetto Corsa). The physics are very good and I can use some stuff that I learn in the sim in real life. If I can do anything for you, don't hesitate to ask. Have a nice day.
+DS OH Thank you!! I don't remember the road at the marker you mention exactly but it was one of the inland back roads. Try the following site to look up some good local drives. members.shaw.ca/bjs1/interesting_roads_main.htm
+JakeXSV Hi Jake, absolutely! Wrapping up a new BMW video as we speak, and I've got the ND Miata coming shortly to test. Stay tuned and thanks for checking in!
+Alan Li Tough call. I would probably go with the E92 M3. It's got hydraulic steering, an epic sounding and feeling V8 and it's a bit of a drift machine. The Cayman's handling is more polished and the mid-engine balance is hard to beat, but since it's a daily driver the practicality of the M3 just pips it for me. M3!
thaik56 That feature only comes with Sport Chrono which the GTS has...and is only active in Sport Plus mode... if you switch to Sport mode only it won't do it..
+driveopolis My friend, thank you for your kind reply, you do look like a young Jackie Chan, I did mean it in a nice way, your reviews are ever so nice, I actually own 2 GTS, the white one is my daily driver, I also have an unused 2015 model CGTS in Viper Green which I am keeping just to look at and not drive it, however none of these cars compare to the Cayman R, that is the best, not tried a CGT4 yet, have you test driven one?
clarky clarky Wow, you got PTS Viper Green, that's incredible. I actually already have a Carmine Cayman GT4 delivered. Check out images of it on my instagram @driveopolis! A video is coming very shortly.
+driveopolis I love PTS colours especially Viper green, Riviera blue and Fashion grey, my old Cayman S Sport is currently on eBay UK, I owned it long time ago, then I had a Viper green CR (only one in the UK), many more CR, many CGTS, there is a Viper green CGTS advertised in the Autotrader UK, I am tempted, but Carmine red is my favourite, I actually missed out on the GT4 because of internal politics at each Porsche Centre, you are one lucky guy, don't cash I straight away, use it a little...
Awesome colors you've owned. Fashion grey is definitely one of my favorites. Absolutely, I drive all of my cars. By the way my latest video has just been published! Please check it out! ua-cam.com/video/dakq56J2odk/v-deo.html

what an amazing review...with all the detailed information a drive this deserves. thumbs up
+Dário Barreiro Thank you so much Dario!
There is something satisfying about bleeping the throttle and catching it perfectly. You feel baller. That "option" made me die a little.
+Tom Lee True, but it can be disabled.
Very well spoken. I rarely post comments, but the review was really good. Keep up the good work.
+greenjack333 Thank you so much!

I really appreciate the sub, Michael! And glad you had the similar experience with the GTS on track. Happy driving!
Extremely solid review !!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you
Glad you liked it! Thanks for your comment!

wow, what a great review. kudos to your way with words, camera angles, editting, etc. I am now a subscriber, and also can't wait to take 'livery of my GTS!
+Eugene Oh Thank you Eugene! I'm excited for you on your GTS. What options did you go with?
+driveopolis you changed your SN? Alcantara seats, convenience package, x73 suspension, smoking package (haha), 20" sport chrono wheels, rear backup only, bose w infotainment. kept it under $89k USD. And got some additional dealer discount.

BEST Cayman 981 GTS review hands down. Great work! When does the power really kick in since it’s a NA? Love the linear power
Definitely a bit later. It never really punches you in the gut like a turbo does, but it's more satisfying to me!
Great review, I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on one of the few remaining new gts' left on the lot but not sure if I will yearn for more power and torque that is being seen out of the 718s... That f6 noise though... Pure sexiness
Excellent review - informative, well-paced & in no way exhausting to follow. Just added to my subscriptions - thanks!
+Alec Taylor Many thanks Alec!
This is an awesome video! Subscribed! Looking forward to more of your videos.
Great review. I have a Boxster GTS manual - and love it!
+james737 Thanks james. Glad you're enjoying the Boxster GTS manual! I think the big reason I would enjoy a Boxster GTS more is that the open top lets you take in even more of that glorious flat 6 sound. Enjoy in good health.
Nice vid, well done and I look forward to more of your reviews.
+Don Morrison Thank you Don!
Top notch film, keep it up. This guy is the next Chris harris
+Aaron Fischnar I still feel a long way to go from Chris Harris but I appreciate your comment! Thank you.
+driveopolis thanks for the reply, a quick question about the gts. my friend has an 08 cayman s and i absolutely love to drive that car, have you ever driven the 987 cayman? what are the key differences between the 987 and the 718. thanks again.

+driveopolis haha my bad ive been reading about the 718 so i got confused, i ment the 981

Awesome Review man, I have a 981 Cayman S and everything you said is spot on. You speak so well also! subscribed!
+Jordan Payne Thank you Jordan! Much appreciated. Enjoy your Cayman S!

great video, good work !!
Great video! Amazing.
+Amar Cheema Thank you Amar!
You didnt Tell us how much hp the GTS has. Well Done! Great Review !
It has 340bhp and the boxster gts 330
+Archie Francis i know that. I was kidding because in other test they waste Time by telling us things which everyone knows already.
+Aleks N'Drangheta Thanks for that!
What a car, good review
+Chris Raczynski Thank you Chris!

+mcomet Thanks mcomet! Is that your red Cayman? Looks hot.
I really like your review, very smooth, very nice.
+FunkyBear Thanks! Your sim videos are really cool, that's a sweet set up. What game is that?
+driveopolis I use 2 sims, iracing (not a really good one) and assetto corsa (this one is amazing, the videos with the Shelby Cobra, BMW M3 and Lamborghini are done with Assetto Corsa). The physics are very good and I can use some stuff that I learn in the sim in real life. If I can do anything for you, don't hesitate to ask.

good video
+dacid kapura Thanks dacid!
Great review.. wow..
Thanks Daniel! I appreciate the support!
Keep it up good job!
Thank you!
hey good video. are these roads in ontario?
Hey, thanks! No, they are in BC.
What do you think about the new 718 Cayman S? Compared to this old model.
Great question, and hard to say as I haven't driven one yet. But knowing me, I would try and find a naturally aspriated 981 while you still can...
I'll take one in sapphire blue if they have that colour. I'd would prefer the GT4 but I don't like the rear wing on that car. Anyway......
+david dykeman Hi David, Sapphire Blue is indeed available on the GTS. It's a great look on the Cayman.
What was the road @ 2:15? Also, can you guys recommend some good driving roads in Vancouver?
+Thomson Mai Private message me and I'll tell you about the road! Thanks for watching.
Any new videos coming soon?
+JakeXSV Hi Jake, absolutely! Wrapping up a new BMW video as we speak, and I've got the ND Miata coming shortly to test. Stay tuned and thanks for checking in!
For a daily Driver do you prefer the Cayman GTS to the E92 M3 if both were manual?
+Alan Li I'd go with the m3. the low end torque from the v8 makes a huge difference. pluuuuuuuus..... more room
Why not test drive the GT4, Cayman's flagship?
Isn't it like impossible to find?
True enough.
thaik56 Sold out last year already...
thaik56 it hasn't come to market yet. so he wouldn't be able to get a test car unless he's a fairly well known journalist/ had some good connections
+thaik56 Will have one shortly. Please stay tuned.
How tall are you
Ze plane! Ze plane!
Oh and btw, can you turn off the auto blip feature?
thaik56 He said that it's only in sport+, so any other mode will turn it off. Maybe you can customize it to be off in sport+ as well?
thaik56 That feature only comes with Sport Chrono which the GTS has...and is only active in Sport Plus mode... if you switch to Sport mode only it won't do it..
Thanks for the info. Glad to know that. I hate any kind of driving assist, especially when it's related to the gearbox.
+thaik56 Yup, it's defeatable. It's a nice feature to have, for sure, but some see it as a gimmick which I totally respect.
100k in canada... 210k in australia. fuck. :(
+hvf26 No... my new Spyder 3.8 is 210. This is 160 base - add a few extras 180...
What colour is that?
+Princess Peach It's Rhodium Silver. Silver with a blue tint. They also have GT Silver, which is a more pure silver but it costs more.
driveopolis
Yeah specced GT on my new one. Just keeping comparing them and sussing them out while I wait....
It's not a touring car
Is this Jackie Chan????
+clarky clarky Haha! I wish. Thanks for watching! Nice white Cayman GTS you got there.
