On similar filters with difficult access I always reach in with a pair of heavy duty cutting pliers and snip the lines close to the filter body, then pull the plastic line down to remove the cut-off stubs from the connector. Much easier than disconnecting the connector in-place.
If you use the correct tool, you don’t have to remove those clips. Get yourself a fuel line removal tool and those push lock fittings will never break again. Those plastic pieces you put back in should be showing out the bottom of those holes. If memory serves me correctly, that should be the 5/16 fuel line removal tool, but they usually come in a set.
I also replaced the fuel filter on my 06 focus and those clips that came with the new filter won’t fit the way the OEM were. That’s why yours and mine look like they didn’t fit all the way.
What was your car doing that you had to replace filter? My 2011 Focus is wanting to cut off when activating the AC. The car runs good after changing plugs, cleaning IAC just preparing for summer in Texas, thanks for the video 👍🏼👍🏼
"replacing the fuel filter on the Focus"....it would be nice to know what year and model?! Just found out mine is in the fuel tank (thanks Ford 🙄). How do I replace that?!?!
Do the clips only go in one way? I bought the same brand as you too, with the clips. The smaller ones fit better. But do they only go in one way, know what I mean? They have the Car Quest at Advance Auto as well with clips! Mine is a 2006.
@@justanothertuner4135 Yeah i looked it up earlier today. they had the inline filter UP to 2010. Now its in the tank... "life time" filter so i suspect it's in the fuel pump
You Push The Clips in first Before Putting the Fuel Hose back on it worked for me like a Charm

Thank you for the Information. It was very helpful.

Great video, really concise.
Thank you. I will be having a few more coming soon!
What are the chances of changing the fuel filter solve code P0193 (fuel rail pressure sensor) ?

You still have the focus? Do they have fuel pressure regulator? Not the sensor.
Thanks for the video

Ahh, now why didn't I think of that! Thanks for the tid bit!
Do you have a part # for those clips
Really helpful 👍
I have a 05' ZX4 ST and it stammers when starting cold. Thinking (hoping) it's only the fuel filter. Thanks for the video!

Yes they go in one way. Look at the clip. It's pointed on one end and that should point out. That's the tab for releasing it.
I changed one on an 09 f150 and they literally snapped in all the way.
Question is the 2018 is the same ? Or similar ?
Hmm... you know, that is a good question...
What year is that? I think they removed the inline filter on the 2010+
Hi. This is a 2005. I am not sure about the newer ones.

I saw my fuel filter is in my 2012 fuel tank
Yeah there a lot of vehicles that moved to putting them in the tank. I think it's a scam to charge you more money to fix!. My mazda 3 is like that
