Just had a 'YourMechanic' employee show up to my booking and tell me there is no such thing as a serviceable fuel filter for a 2009 Ford Focus, charge me a $150 cancellation fee, and leave after having their phone support tell me it was my fault for booking an incorrect service. (After the tech also charing me a $25 reschedule fee because it was raining on the original date 2 weeks prior). I will use this video to do the job correctly myself. Thank you.

I have an 09, there is no fuel filter like in this video. 100% sure of that. If you go to an a auto parts store they will sell you the same one he put on in this video, but it's inside the pump I assume.

You better have disputed those charges. Don't go through life letting people take advantage of you.

Great video it's still helping to this day! Also, I have a 08 and I know for a fact I have the original filter very excited to change it just preventive maintenance it doesn't have any issues but there is a lot of rust on the surface of the filter.

It takes a special fuel line tool to remove the filter. Its not recommended to use the flat head and needle nose for 30 minutes method.

Yes I have one now but I’ve done this for years with a flat head and it’s never taken 30 min. 2-3 min tops. Not a big deal.

I have a 2003 Ford Focus with 105k miles. I think the fuel filter has never been changed either. I think the fuel filter is clogged, there are no misfires, no codes. But i noticed it idles rough like i can see the engine shaking a bit and i noticed when revving the engine, i can have my foot on the gas and the RPMs will go up and down when cruising down the road.

Thats what I would start with first, they are easy and cheap enough to change its good to just do it, if that doesnt solve anything you will need to check the pressure from the fuel pump

@@hanksgarage_ I finally changed the fuel filter. That was definitely the problem, my car is running great now.

I think I heard my same dash cam turn on when you started the car. I have a 2010. Are your AC power outlets always on, or only when you start the car? Mine are always on, so I have to unplug it every time I get out of my car... I'm trying to think up a clever and non-invasive way of hooking my dash cam up in such a way that it comes on with the engine and turns off with the engine.

It needs to go into a switch circuit, you can wire it straight in to the fusebox under the dash. See my vid on how I did it with my Ram.
