    I've bought all the Brian Clough books and can't get enough of clips like this. A good interview. Nothing seems to phase him and he has a real gift of quick wit and management control

      I think he was a fascinating character anyway, without the football. DUncan Hamilton's "Provided You Don't Kiss Me" is worth a read. Very poignant but some funny moments too. The book starts with Clough banning him from the club.

    It doesn’t matter which club we support, we’re all in agreement that, Brian Clough was a 1 in a billion guy, who was a genius and ridiculously funny individual. Kicking Birtles of the coach is absolutely hilarious. Good on him, I bet the player learned a valuable lesson that day.

      Yes, he was a master of all that, a real natural showman. Well, much more than a showman of course, but he could doubtless have made a living in entertainment or broadcasting quite apart from football.

      He once punched Roy Keane in the dressing room after he kept playing the ball back to the keeper. Keane just sucked it up and took it whereas nowadays Clough would’ve been sacked and there’d be an internal investigation and multiple club statements.

    My wife and I met Brian once at a book trade show and he signed multiple copies of his new book for us to take back to our bookshop.Had an hilarious ten minutes with him, lovely friendly guy with a real twinkle in his eye.Thank you Brian RIP.

    Purely because of this wonderful man, and to some extent his equally likable sidekick, I retain a soft spot for Nottingham Forest to this very day. They don't make them like Brian anymore and more's the pity.

    Well as a Liverpool fan i had the pleasure of having a pint and a game of pool with Brian Clough in Majorca. Last two weeks of the 1994 world cup. I asked him Mr Clough why didn't you get the England job...he put his arm stound me and said...Young man the wankers in the Fa wouldn't give me the job.

    As a Nottingham lad born and bred, I've great memories. He was the greatest manager we ever had at Forest... Took us from nowhere to European champions twice.. In fact turned average players into world class ones.. Him and let's not forget the great Peter Taylor had the midus touch that comes once in a generation etc etc...

    Remember assuming (based on everything we were told) that Clough was past it when Forest went down and had succumbed to alcoholism etc. Amazing then to see him in this interview as sharp as a tack and full of charisma. If he’d managed nowadays he would have gone on for another 15 years.

    I'm a Nottingham lad and adored Clough. His views on Hillsborough were not from experience but drawn from the media narrative at the time. I shared the same views until the truth came out #Sickening #Shamefull. Absolute stain on the game and an injustice to those that lost their lives and the people of Liverpool.

    Cloughie was a master of mind games. Always kept his players on their toes. He could come across as abraisive, but I think beneath the veneer was a genuinely nice bloke.

    A man despairs to go through his life and nobody notice's him, Brian Clough was not that man, he was his own man through the thick of it, he died knowing that he made a difference, in more than just football, i admired his style, don't be a sheep, you will get noticed.

    One persons comment of {His Hillsborough comments ruins his legacy} Is out of order Brian Clough was devastated and after that incident he was never really the same man. Truly he was the best thing that happened to UK football. Listen to his players talk about him. There respect for him says it all. Sadly never got the England job. That would have been something to have witnessed and we as a football nation was robbed. Great man always spoke his mind bless him and had decent morals

    Brian was a true northern lad who certainly didn't suffer fools gladly. God, if he'd stuck it out at Leeds the sky would have been the limit. I thought he was great and would have loved to meet him, I'd have been overawed. RIP Sir.

    Totally in a league of his own…there’s no other manager out there to touch him or the legacy that he left behind. Always loved his no nonsense attitude and he didn’t give a hoot about what anyone thought of him. Massive respect to you Brian,rest easy bud and much love ❤️

    You can say what you want has long as you are right. And yes Liverpool fans wont have it but the truth is if none of these fans went into the stand with out tickets none of there 94 supporters would have died, its simply maths. If more people go into the stand than what the capacity holds they will be crushed. Liverpool fans being angry at what Clough said or anyone else, they should have been angry at those ticketless fans. The hard truth is the fans killed there own, unintented but true.

    Cloughie was superb here, he made the ex barrister look petty and small minded. His views on Hillsborough were an honest view of what he (Cloughie) saw on the day. Entertaining, honest, straight forward, no mincing about with words and “that type of thing” 👍
