Finally, someone is speaking out about this. I own a G21, I bought a maxshine m15 pro to try and save money and so I can have a 21 and 15 mm throw. After a week of use at my body shop, I became so frustrated, that I returned it that same day. Got a G15 and never looked back. Rules mkIII's and the Griot's boss polishers are simply amazing. I can't wait for that new polisher yvann show cased that is an all in one machine. Hope you are doing well Joe, stay safe and stay sane brother.
Lol this is funny, Idk why but i do not have this issue with the maxshine. I feel like everyone is expecting the machine to be a forced rotation machine. Idk but everyone has there own opinion and everyone does things differently. Glad you found what you were looking for.
You are spot on with this! I am going to send this video to the supplier I got mine from as he told me it was user error. I said I had many machines and they didn't stall like this machine. It sees a curve and stalls!!!
we need more transparent detailers like your self joe. theres a couple you tubers out there that are taking turns hyping this machine and another chemical- getting paid to sell junk and its becoming very transparent with these 2
Thanks, bro! After watching your video, I will buy Griots Garage G9 Random Orbital Polisher. Autogeek did exactly the same review on G9 and proved it to be much better than Maxshine.
I used a chemical guys torqx 8mm for a long time. I upgraded to this and it stalls SO easy. Been told to do a washer mod so may have to look into thatv
I own a Rupes LHR15 mark 3 and the speed dial broke in just 2 months of use. It also stalls. I just bought a new Max shine M15 pro series and it stalls as well. Most of them do. The machine is smooth and works as designed, I really don’t have any complaints so far.
Oh an other thing... My Griot's Garage G15 stalls more on curved panels than my Rupes ES21 with the washer mod. I was really disappointed by the G15, I got it so that I could use a long throw on panels too curved for my Rupes. Turns out it does everything much worse than the Rupes so I never use it.
I do paint correction literally 10-15 hours a day 6 days a week with thousands of hours on my polishers. And while I love a lot of griots products their polishers and pads are some of the worst things I’ve used. So much vibration and just an inferior product compared with any Rupes or Flex. I’ve got a g21 and g15. They’re powerful but the vibration I just cannot handle even with anti vibration gloves. 1 high end paint correction session should pay for any premium polisher you could dream of, don’t cheap out and risk potential nerve damage on your hands if you intend on doing more than the occasional job here and there.
Completely agree with you. I noticed that on the G15 too... but for me, the tool staling on most panels was the major issue. I have heard that the Flex forced rotation what also hard on tjhe hands, what was your experience with it on that aspect?
Calendyr the flex is the hardest on the body of all machine polishers. It DEMANDS constant 10-12 lbs of downward pressure at all times. If you aren’t applying pressure on a 8mm da you are going no where fast. What a lot of people don’t realize is that a porter cable (also 8mm) actually has more OPMS than a 3401. On a open panel the porter cable will out rotate a flex 3401. The forced driven action limits the overall OPMS when you compare that to free spinning. The only advantage the flex has Over all DAs is that it won’t stall it curves/contours. But the flex by far is the hardest on the body. A phenomenal tool however.
Good video! I would like to know if you have experience with the Adams Swirl Killer, many have said it's even better or keeps spinning more than griots and rupes on bumpy not flat panels.
Joe, Mike Phillips did a video a few days ago about doing production polishing in 1 hour. In the video he explained that forced rotation is the way to go because they never stall and you can apply a lot of pressure to get a lot of correction done. Like you I am a long throw guy. I have a Rupes 21 and and a Griot's 15mm as well as my 10mm Torq and my 8 mm Porter Cable and Meguire machines. I am seriously thinking about getting a Flex Forced rotation, have you tried one?
Hi Joe, credit where its due, a great review, Thank You. Even though I would not consider myself as a 'Pro Detailer' only a RTA (road traffic accident) & its knock-on effects has kept a polishing machine out of my hands for more than a couple of days at a time over the last 12 years. Only now have I got the opportunity to do my own vehicles, but tomorrow that could all change so having alternatives/replacements should my Go-To weapons of choice fail (or one of my son's decide they need my machines more than I do, yes this is not a once in a blue moon event as one of them is currently in the transition stages of going pro) I need back up machines & had already earmarked the M15Pro as a suitable back up for my Rupes given all the exposure it has currently has from Pro's & Amateur's alike. I have now canned that idea & will invest in new Rupes & Festools which will become my GoTo's & rest my current machines for back ups as & when. Again, huge thanks !!
it's not the watts only it's the number of amps on the motor. so you can't really compare the M15pro with a 21mm throw Griots that has an 1100 watt motor with a 10AMP motor!! so yes the grits is more powerful so not an equal comparison
I suspected this from day one and now this has been validated by your video. Even the new griots G9 mm polisher will stall. Waiting for the all new 15 and 21 mm griots long throw polisher. 1100 watts..
I don't disagree with the overall assessment, but it is a bit harsh. If you are having issues with the unit, contact customer service and get it resolved, don't just throw it under the bus. I am just a weekend enthusiast doing personal vehicles and occasional family members. I am a Griot's bumper to bumper user and still considering the G15, or maybe the Maxshine Pro 15 series ll for my occasional need of a 15mm long throw..
in Short . . . . . . . just save your money boys . . . . . . . and get a Rupes da polisher. You wont be disappointed .......u get what u pay for... thanks 4 the review brother REALLY appreciate it.
I have nothing but respect for Brian at apex. He is a real Detailer and provides valuable information for the community. He does real world testing on real clients cars. It is very hard and time consuming to put your buffer down set up the camera and make content while your trying to focus on your job. It takes a lot of time and patience to make videos. He deserves all of his success.
@@NextLevelAutoDetail Well yeah and i do enjoy watchig his videos. Only the Rupes bashing bothers me. Im a part time detailer here in Finland and i have also tested A LOT of stuff, especially pads and polishes. They call me polish surfer lol. Keep up the good work Joe :)
@@NextLevelAutoDetail So, I remember the first time you brought this up I went to Apex because I thought he liked the machine. I was wrong. He doesn't talk about the M15. He talks about the M21. He doesn't even use the M15. I think he just avoided bashing it by not even covering it. The M21 must be less problamtic.
That's on point although Brian from Apex is a better detailer and teacher. I stopped following him after Griot's Garage came out with the G9, in the first tear down video he praised the living crap out of it, then in another video he said he doesn't use it, even though it doesn't stall. Mixed signals to me. He does love and praise MaxShine though.
I had issues with stalling when I first got my M15 pro, after installing a griots backing plate with a washer I haven't had any issues even with mf pads and heavy compounds. More vibration than my rupes but it was half the price so not really an apples to apples comparison.
Have you tried the shinemate ex620? I've had mine for a while now and it's amazing. The M15 seems to have a reputation for stalling, the Shinemate is opposite.
What are your thoughts on Torq X from Chemical Garage?8mm throw compaired to Maxshine M15.....what would you buy.....btw....this is for home use....dyi
There is another UA-camr I watch Papa Smurf. He has the Maxshine 15 in a couple of his videos he had to stop using the max shine 15 and go back to his GG 9 because of the stalling.
I figured my MaxShine machine out. I've had for a while now as well and seen the exact same things. 1. They don't like certain pads, combine that with aggressive polish and it won't cut at all. 2. Once you install the washer mod it ( depending on how many washers ) changes the balance of the machine and can be utterly frustrating. 3. I figured out how to keep it balanced with lower profile pads like the urofiber 50/50 the machine can get it done. Other heavier cutting pads ( microfiber types they can't. And they struggle ) hence lower cutting pads with slightly more aggressive polish and I've figured out how to get it done. But to the point a lot ansi mean a lot of ppl don't even know the machine is stalling. I have to agree with your assessment
You are an honest detailer. Many detailer got it free from Maxshine to try and it is hard for them to say bad thing about it. I have a G6 and I returned my M15 Pro series 2 to the company. If you are a beginner listen to this fellow he knows what he is talking about. I wish everybody was honest like you are.

Well said! Joe is literally the only detailer on YT saying he doesn't like it. He's the only one I trust now tbh. I have used the polisher twice in a YEAR and each time for less then 1 min. I decided to keep it as a emergency back up the day my other ones fail.
Fellas. There's to much hype about polishers now. The good, the bad, and the ugly. What next. If a polisher works then fine. As long as it's not low level like the harbor freight bauer. I say let people find out for themselves. A polisher I like you might not like for various reasons and one you like I might not like. We all have a different feel and technic for doing and using tools. We need to let this hype on bad polishers go. Thankyou for your time.
Damage Control Auto Detail has to be one of the most over hyped detailing related products of all time. It’s seriously the last tool I would pick up out of all the polishers I own. I would rather correct paint with a harbor freight DA.
Maxshine came out with an M15 Pro SERIES 2. I've watched a few videos and they've seemed to solve the stalling problem. Torque looks to be much better!! I ordered it. It will go right back to Amazon if it's weak like the original M15 Pro. I'll report back.
@@mikethedev4620 3 months in and ive used it over 50 times already on customers vehicle. it's pretty solid for the price, look up the washer mod for it and change the grease inside or it'll get noisy.
Man I’ve been out of the game for years. I just bought a new truck and want to keep it perfect. It used to just be Makita, DeWalt, and porter cable. I used to love using DA’s because they never swirled. I start looking now to buy something new but there are so many it makes my head spin. I don’t really need much correction yet, but can you recommend a simple clean/correct, polish/glaze, and wax/seal combo? It would be nice to just pick 1 polisher and a simple 2-3 stage system and stick to it without spending a crazy amount of money. I was considering Griots g9 kit with their compound/polish combo, it it good stuff? Please let me know what you think , thank you
So, what about using a different assortment of pads? Example, I have the Adam's mini swirl killer. LC Force orange pads, it stalls alot. Switch to let's say the oberk yellow pad, less stalling.
DjBann great point and this is true with any machine. Different pad profiles offer different advantages in certain areas. Thicker pads will always provide more adaptability in those areas against low profile pads. However thicker pads lose that advantage on flat areas as they retain a lot of heat and become topsy turvy when it loads with product. Especially using them on a long throw machine they retain a lot of heat due to the large distance it travels. The maxshine does perform a little better with foam pads as far as pad stall goes. When you are trying to remove heavy defects and get the best result a microfiber cutting pad is always going to be your best choice and the machine struggles with it. That is why in the video I talk about how the maxshine is more of a “polisher” like a finishing tool I wouldn’t want to use it for heavy defect removal. In open panels it works ok but the slightest curve it struggles heavily. That is why I would actually prefer cutting with the griots 6” verse the m15. Good insight.
lucabrazi36 Test ???? Did you not see the before and after condition when I was done with that section ? I am fully correcting and coating the car. It has been tracked hard and has many many deep defects. The first passes I did with the maxshine did almost nothing as far as defect removal goes. You don’t get to work on cars that are worth almost half of a million dollars without knowing what your doing. 😜 thanks for watching
which polisher do you recommend for someone who wants to upgrade from a porter cable 7424xp? I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a polisher either but I will though if it’s worth it.
Bought my first Maxshine M15 pro it stalled on its own weight and they exchanged a new one the same thing happened. I returned it and waited for the series II got the series II and the same thing it stalls like crazy and I thought it was me so sold it at half price. I got a Makita force rotation can’t be happier.
lucabrazi36 that makes total sense. Comparing a direct drive rotary to a free spinning da. That wouldn’t be a total unfair apples and oranges video at all. You should direct all of my content.
lime2010 absolutely. I have a specific g21 with a designated 5 inch plate. With every advantage comes disadvantages. It causes excess vibration compared to the 6 inch plate. It also puts a lot of stress on the pads by the increased OPMS from the smaller backing plate. A lot more heat is introduced. I still prefer my 6 inch plate on the g21 but in the areas I need a smaller pad I use it often. It enhances the cut but the drawbacks are obvious from what I mentioned above. It’s not as smooth and puts a tremendous amount of stress on the pads. Swapping pads more frequently is certainly required to extend the life of your pads.
Tundra Whisperer the master 15 is 900 watts I used to win the 1 and second series of the pro both were 1000 watt , the master 15 and master 21 are 900 watt
Tundra Whisperer well it’s reality , I’m not going to keep wasting my time tho , just do your research if you don’t believe me , he has the m15 pro series 1 which is the one he reviewed and purchased on Facebook marketplace , he has a video on when he buys it , check it out and check the box ..... CLearly shows the 1000 W and I’m telling you because I’m the one who sold those polishers to him ... I also used to own the pro series 2 that’s why I know what I’m telling you ... they have a non pro version which are called the master 15 and the master 21 which is around 160$ -170$ and those are 900 watts
Man I feel sorry you used it for a month! I have around 10 min experience with the 15 pro just thinking about it makes me want to puke lol another great video joe. Hope you and the family is safe from covid..
yeah i bought this machine i was disappointed is garbage you have to baby it too much im a small car dealer i got fooled by all videos on internet the harbor freight cheap 6 inch has more power
Absolutely correct in saying that the harbor freight has more torque. The m15 has to be the most over rated thing in the detailing industry that it’s actually starting to piss me off. I get called out for being sponsored on my videos that I upload just for fun. I don’t get paid or sponsored by anybody. Yet others that promote these crap products surely are getting cash considerations to talk so highly of these products. Either that or maybe they are not “professionals” like they claim. Either way it doesn’t sit right with me.
you called it like it is bro this machine is way over rated i rather pay more and get a more complete polisher i bought it not expecting the power of a rotary but is a sorry machine you can work with it but is a pain in the ass
Hey Joe I know polishers you like rupes millie it smooth running forced rotations I keep mille and the 3401 my back up to my long throw plus my trusty g6 think people should support rules flex and griot even dewalt these companies they one create new tools every couple year making the user experience better China company steel design the can't make try copy someone else good company need are support their innovate now lake country coming out with polisher save my Penny's by that one to show support for them to
Proof that you did not watch all of the video. That is exactly the point. The 21 should be more prone to stalling due to the larger orbit and larger pad size. The 15 should be putting out more OPMS than a 21 because it is traveling 6mm less distance. Meaning it SHOULD PERFORM EVEN BETTER IN TIGHTER AREAS than a 21. That is exactly the point. The Boss 15 or Rupes Mark 2-3 has no problems in those areas. The machine is weak and lacks power. So that is exactly why I used the 21 because everybody loves this 15mm because it’s so “versatile” yet a machine with a larger orbit and a 6.5 inch pad didn’t stall once in that same area.
hakman239 your missing the entire point. What don’t you understand that if a 21mm Boss with a 6.5 inch pad didn’t stall in that area (it should be more prone to stalling due to the larger orbit and pad size) if the boss 21 didn’t stall in that area what makes you think a rupes Mark 2 15 or a boss 15 would stall ? Lol. That was to showcase the power of a real tool. The 21 is supposed to have a DISADVANTAGE in that area and it still crushed the 15. If the 21 didn’t stall in that area a mark 2 15 or a boss 15 isn’t going to stall either. Using the 21 was supposed to give the 15 an advantage. I understand your point. Compare a 15 to a 15 that makes sense. But I used the 21 to showcase how much power it really has being that it should struggle in those tighter areas. That’s all I hope you understand my thought process now.
Next Level Auto Detail the griots has a 1100w motor m15 pro is 1000w if you don’t want your tool to stall get a forced rotation da polisher you can’t make them stall the. It’s forced rotation like a rotary

Thanks again for watching my videos.
Wow, I was seriously going to buy that Maxshine.
Thanks for the info!
Damage Control Auto Detail has to be one of the most over hyped detailing related products of all time. It’s seriously the last tool I would pick up out of all the polishers I own. I would rather correct paint with a harbor freight DA.
Does the griot have exchangeable back plates (5,6 or 3 inches)? What pad brands does it use?
Maxshine came out with an M15 Pro SERIES 2. I've watched a few videos and they've seemed to solve the stalling problem. Torque looks to be much better!! I ordered it. It will go right back to Amazon if it's weak like the original M15 Pro. I'll report back.
How did it go? I just ordered my m15 pro 2 a couple days ago, will return if it really is as bad as some people say.
@@javierdelgado1346 any update on the m15 pro 2?
@@mikethedev4620 3 months in and ive used it over 50 times already on customers vehicle. it's pretty solid for the price, look up the washer mod for it and change the grease inside or it'll get noisy.
Thanks Mike just came in from Amazon. Used it on my black ctsv. It worked good so far.
Great video! Have you tried the m15 pro series 2?
That fender took a beating with you test. That clear coat faded away.
lucabrazi36 Test ???? Did you not see the before and after condition when I was done with that section ?
I am fully correcting and coating the car. It has been tracked hard and has many many deep defects.
The first passes I did with the maxshine did almost nothing as far as defect removal goes.
You don’t get to work on cars that are worth almost half of a million dollars without knowing what your doing. 😜 thanks for watching
How would you say the max shine 15 pro compared to the griots g9?
Thank you for the video! Have you tried the latest Flex 3401? If so, how much smoother is it compared to the original "beast".
MorsX Supera flex 3401 is forced drive rotation not free spinning... it will spin regardless. Its a beast
@@g.osiris1615 yes I'm aware, I own a 1st gen 3401. I am asking about how the NEW one compares as far as smoothness.
Love the Flex 3401
Similar experience here. Returning the maxshine
which polisher do you recommend for someone who wants to upgrade from a porter cable 7424xp? I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a polisher either but I will though if it’s worth it.
Bought my first Maxshine M15 pro it stalled on its own weight and they exchanged a new one the same thing happened. I returned it and waited for the series II got the series II and the same thing it stalls like crazy and I thought it was me so sold it at half price. I got a Makita force rotation can’t be happier.
Id rather use the rotary!
lucabrazi36 that makes total sense. Comparing a direct drive rotary to a free spinning da. That wouldn’t be a total unfair apples and oranges video at all.
You should direct all of my content.
Doesn't maxshine manufactures griot's polishers at griot's specs/requirements?
Not anymore
Have you tried the 5in backing plate on your boss G21? How do you like it if you’ve tried it?
lime2010 absolutely.
Just use a rotary throw away all D.A polishers 👍👍👍
The M15 Pro SERIES II is a huge improvement in power. I’ve had the original M15 Pro, so this is first hand experience. The original M15 Pro is a joke.
Absolutely agree with you. Even many of the long time professionals who have reviewed the m15 pro series 2 on UA-cam have said it is a great machine.
Lol I just bought this polisher for my detailing business 🤦♂️
Funny i dont have this problem with mine.
Is that the series ll Maxshine, the 1000 watt one?
Series 1 and 2 has 1000 watt, series 2 only added mini ergonomic changes that’s way still the same price
Ernesto Benavides correction, the first M15 Pro is 900 watts.
Tundra Whisperer the master 15 is 900 watts I used to win the 1 and second series of the pro both were 1000 watt , the master 15 and master 21 are 900 watt
Ernesto Benavides huh? That doesn’t make sense.
Thanks for sharing this info bro!
Nailed it 1000%! I bought an M15 Pro from Amazon, used it on 1 car, returned it the next day. M15 Pro is WEAK.
I should of returned it too.. but decided to keep it on jobs like all in one where swirls aren't really corrected but only a kiss to the paint
Great review Joe. Griots all the way.
Great video you saved me and others $$$ on this over hyped Chinese ^%$#$@!
Hey Joe I know polishers you like rupes millie it smooth running forced rotations I keep mille and the 3401 my back up to my long throw plus my trusty g6 think people should support rules flex and griot even dewalt these companies they one create new tools every couple year making the user experience better China company steel design the can't make try copy someone else good company need are support their innovate now lake country coming out with polisher save my Penny's by that one to show support for them to
Maxshine - stalls G15 doesn’t stall - washer mod click bait bs
Thanks is lie maxshine is weak chip tool buy griots or rupes mk11
Put links below unless you really think you are that entertaining
Your comparing a 21mm to a 15mm🤦♂️
Next Level Auto Detail why don’t you compare m15 pro to griots g15
hakman239 your missing the entire point.
It’s forced rotation like a rotary
hakman239
These are the tools I own

I’m not worried about pad stalling at all....... the maxshine 15 pro is a weak enthusiast tool. It is over hyped by you tubers that are more than likely getting paid to endorse them.
I don’t have a problem with pad stall at all. Only when I used the maxshine m15.
