You probably know this, but for your viewers, I have a similar Wagner sprayer. All the O rings need to be lubed well, using the Wagner O ring lube. This dramatically affects the unit’s performance. However, I really want the Graco sprayer, been researching them for several years now. I like circles. Better. The fact that they use DeWalt batteries is a huge plus for me, as I am already standardized on DeWalt cordless 20v max power tools. Cabinet makers swear by the Graco cordless sprayer.

Graco is a known painting industry standard. So when I saw the title I knew what the outcome would be. As far as clean up, any one who paints knows that in order for your tools to work properly, you have to do an immediate & thorough clean up. Like Right Now !

It’s Cordless Connect, you’ve to provide ur own Drill or Impact Driver.
FYI: The Faster the Drill the Better the Finish, also less overspray which leads to less cleanup n wastes less paint.

I’ve been using a Graco Ultra (not Max) spray gun for some time to apply water based varnish at a cabinet shop. It sprays beautifully when working properly and is very easily controlled. However, even with following the cleaning procedure to the letter or perhaps even overdoing it a little, a problem developed where it spurted a small stream of varnish (happened with paint too) each time the trigger was released. This was most annoying and made the spray gun quite difficult to use. We renewed the gun's pump assembly for this reason and all was great for a while but the same issue has reappeared after just a few uses. We may be doing something wrong but I really don’t know what? I’ve just purchased a Wagner Flexio spray gun kit for my own personal use and am hoping it performs better for me. Time will tell.

Always pull the trigger just before applying paint to whatever you're painting e.g a couple of inches before you hit the piece you want to paint this will help stop splatter but see further how you eliminate it. A professional won't stop for every pass, it'll be continious, that takes practice. Anyway spurts are usually caused by build up of paint on the tip which then projects itself onto whatever you're painting. You need to periodically stop, clean the tip, test spray, then carry on. Keep the distance between what you're painting and the gun consistent. The tendency for beginners is to ark as their arm stretches, don't move you're body not your arm. The Idaho painter (that's his channel name) has a great channel that novices can learn how pro's spray. Practice of scraps of wood, if you get runs don't be tempted to fix when while the paint is wet, it'll make a bigger mess, leave, sand, start again. The Gracos will spray any paint out the tin, a wagner of other hvlp/xvlp won't so the trick is test and measure each test so you can replicate the consistency of the paint with the appropriate thinner for the paint. Not all Gracos do oil based paint, check first, or you may cause a fire. Oh and ALWAYS wear a respirator not a dust mask

At a 500 $ difference in price of course the Graco is gonna be better and to compare the two is unfair to a company who's been in the paint business as long as I can remember. I'll bet that if you compared Wagner's version of cordless in the same price range the outcome would differ in their favor. I enjoyed the video but I wanted to make a valid point viewers should know before making any conclusions. I'm ecstatic that so many companies are taking an interest in your channel Miss Flips !

Thanks Michael! I actually just looked it up and can’t seem to find any Wagner paint sprayers in that price range or hand held, or cordless! I definitely agree that the two can’t be compared as far as quality, and the price does definitely reflect that, however, I think I made that clear when I said that I think the Wagner is great for beginners and the graco is more advanced. Both have their place in the industry and I think that was more so what my video was about

Cool video. I was thinking although Graco gave more even coverage, the final product just looks like painted mdf almost too perfect and with some of the wood grain coming through it looks like an heirloom piece wood can be stripped bare painted, stripped again stained, covered in pvc vinyl but removed with a Wagner Heat Gun so letting the grain show through makes the statement "I'm the real deal not some compressed wood that holds up but only slightly better than cardboard ever will. I will see what i can pick up at Michael's to make my project easier. I was planning on taking my cabinets outside to paint but watching you maybe I'll just open the windows and keep it indoors.

i had the same problem with my wagner i just got. i really have to turn the setting up high, which makes it splotchy. if your working outside and want to spray something at ground level so you dont get your brushes filled with dirt, the air the gun pushes out will kick the dirt up onto your project. but if you dont have enough power it simply wont cover what your doing. i did my entire old fence which is small spaced boards old style and i used it on that because its 40 yrs old and on its last breath and wanted to get it done before winter. i used it as a exterior paint and there is parts i just couldnt cover so i ended up using a roller on the entire thing anyways after to touch it up. i think its better for a primer where you dont need to be clean or worry about every spot covered. it also blows through the paint fast sometimes. but like she said in the video i had problems with it spraying at first and going through tons of paint, then it started spraying better and using less paint. it really made no sense honestly. i would prob never use a paint sprayer on something i really want to look good. only on something old thats a project for fun or something not important thats already falling apart. otherwise ill just use a paint brush for most things. even rollers sometimes leave a lumpy look and soak up the paint so i have to determine between roller and brush. if the surface is completely flat then ill do roller. oh also the overspray of the wagner is ridiculous. it blew prob 10 feet behind the fence i was spraying. i noticed halfway through and had to tarp every section so my rocks would stop being hit by paint. im amazed how much it covers far away that you arent spraying at vs what your actually spraying. oh also it is heavy as hell to, your arm will be sore unless your a brute mutant

Hi there!! I put water in to thin the paint. Start with a little and add more as needed. Stir it in between to incorporate the water. It should be runny but not watery. May take a couple tries to find the right consistency so try with cheap paint and on an unimportant surface until you get the hang of it. As for priming, there should be instructions for that in the directions. If not, check out this video:

Well, I see the poster make several mistakes that I used to make. 1. it is AIRLESS sprayer, you need screw the canister tight. tilt it so air in canister is on the side with air valve than squeeze the can untill droplet of paint comesout of the air remoal valve and close the valve capmtight.
    2. you need to prime new can. 3. you need to to dilute the paint to 30-60 DIN. lastly learn what power for what tip.
Also keep the spraervertical to surface.
    It takes littlebit of learning.

The flexio are a DIY sprayer as the graco one used is already a painting trader beginner tool.
The better comparison on this occasion would be graco true coat 360 x Wagner flexio. I’ve never used the graco 360, however I believe they are also rated diy pulverizers.
I’ve been using the Wagner Xvlp 3500 for almost 15years , as a professional on the painting trades. Probably done over 100 projects on a single machine, and can confidently say that is a machine on the professional level but has also some inconsistency, specifically when starting to spray solvent based. All in all, I can say I have got my investment paid on my Xvlp a long time ago.
My advice for beginners on painting is that if you’re looking for a professional level entry machine, flexio are not a good option and should definitely go for Xvlp or graco ultra max units.

This is more of a Graco promotion than an unbiased comparison. Everything and everywhere tells you to paint with an overlap, but what you demonstrate as a result delivered by Wagner at 3:57 is just 3 thick stripes running across the surface. The real difference between the 2 sprayers is that Wagner allows you to apply a thinner coat. You could spray one or 2 more coats with Wagner and you would achieve better results. I much prefer spending more time applying 4 thin coats to just applying 2 thick ones which will leave streaks as the Graco did at 4:30. Especially when you paint vertical surfaces. Also, you mentioned that the Wagner left streaks, but I couldn't find any in your video. The Graco obviously did. I bet that with Graco you also get more paint accumulation in trim corners and any sort of fine detail.

      @TheMissFlips  Рік тому

The Graco TrueCoat airless system sprays a lot more paint each pass than the Wagner Flexio system which atomizes the paint and uses a jacket of air to force the paint to go where it is aimed. Because of the thinner spray, you must move slower with the Wagner Flexio than with the Graco TrueCoat especially if you’re trying to hide the wood grain. I prefer the Wagner Flexio because the paint is applied thinner and more efficiently, allowing me the ability to stretch my paint further over more square footage than with the Graco. The cleanup is also much simpler with the Wagner Flexio 3500. A through cleaning breaks the sprayer into 7 parts (9 parts with the air cleaner) which are easy to disassemble, clean, and reassemble. If you’re just stopping for a few hours and continuing painting later, you can do a field expedient cleanup: remove the paint cup, clean it, fill it with water, screw the paint cup of water back on, and shoot the water through the sprayer as if you’re painting (use mineral spirits of cleaning up after using oil-based coatings). Let the sprayer dry while you’re away, and it will be ready for you when you come back. Anytime you have skipping with either sprayer, the paint pickup is sucking in air instead of paint. Readjust your sprayer or your position to slow paint to be picked up instead of air and continue.

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to address some concerns regarding the spray technique used in your recent demonstrations. While your efforts are appreciated, there are some improvements that could be made to ensure better results.
Firstly, it appears that the paint being used is too thick, causing eggshelling on both machines. I recommend thinning down the paint according to the instructions provided with the kit, using a velocity cup to ensure proper consistency. If the paint is not running correctly, it may need to be thinned further.
Additionally, it's important to note that HVLP is generally used for furniture while Airless is better suited for walls and ceilings. The kits you are using are starter kits, and there are many brands available. I would recommend considering Graco HVLP kits, Apollo, or Fujitsu for furniture, and the Graco Airless for walls and ceilings.
Lastly, please ensure that the paint being used is suitable for spraying. Not all paints are sprayable, and it's important to check the instructions to avoid any issues.
I hope you find this feedback helpful, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.
Please think before you advise as you are still very amature in this field, Also please check with an antiques professional before you refinish thrift bought furniture, As you could unknowingly destroy a masterpiece,

Thank you so much for the feedback! I really do appreciate it. I am 100% an amateur and was only really giving my amateur opinion on the topic. Hi @MissFlips, I'm glad to see your passion for creating content on UA-cam! While I haven't had a chance to watch all your videos, I'd love to offer some advice on a modern re-spray technique for thrift furniture.
To start, I suggest investing in a good HVLP kit like the Apollo 1500 (My Fav)Graco, Fujitsu equivalent depending on where you live. This will come with a gun and a turbine. Next, find a good car paint supplier and a piece of furniture to practice on.
Here are the steps to follow:
1.Give the furniture a deep clean.
Sand the surface lightly with 240-320 grit sandpaper for a factory smooth finish.
      2. Use grey primer when buying car paint to achieve deep, colorful selections.
      3. Apply the first coat of primer, which should be a dashing of primer. You'll likely need 2-3 coats to start, but as you become more familiar with the material, you'll get better.
      3. Sand down the primer with 800 grit or higher depending on the finish you want. The goal is to etch the surface to help with paint adhesion and smooth out blemishes.
Blow off the dust from the panels with the turbine.
      4. Put a small amount of thinners on a rag and use it to wipe down the surface.
      5. Use tack cloth to remove any remaining imperfections.
      6. Clean the gun.
      7. Add the paint to the cup using filters. Automotive paint shouldn't need to be thinned as it will have a ratio already. The car paint supplier will tell you the ratio, usually around 3:1. Then, mask off the area and do a light first coat. You're not looking to finish, just a nice soft sprinkling. Wait for about half an hour since automotive paint dries quickly.
8.Then sand down with 2000-3000 grit, wipe with a thinner cloth, and tack off again. Apply a second coat, and keep repeating until you achieve a beautiful wet look finish.
I hope this technique is helpful! If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to me. I'd be happy to chat and offer any additional assistances
      Regards
      Ro

I would never use an airless paint sprayer on cabinets or furniture and expect a nice levelled out coat. There is no air to break up the paint into small enough particles to get a really smooth coat as do HVLP sprayers (the Wagner for example: high volume low pressure). I could be wrong about it but I would use an airless paint sprayer on walls or a fence and leave the smooth work to finer painting machines. Sure everyone likes cordless tools but I really don't enjoy paying all that extra money for something that would be used (in most cases) where receptacles are nearby. I use cordless drills all the time and love them but I really prefer most tools to be corded in most cases. Then there is the ugly thing about mining the materials for all of the batteries; child slavery used in their mining, and all of the actual real pollution caused by their manufacturing. No, I am not an environmental fanatic but it is good at times to mention real pollution (and not the phony C02 fantasy global warming garbage (C02 is NOT a pollutant and neither is tungsten), cow farts are really not an issue and there are now more polar bears than there were in the 1950's)! I just had to get that out of my system! This is the first of your videos I have watched and I am really not criticizing your video! They take a lot of work but I just felt like doing a mini-rant here. Graco makes awesome products which I have used many times myself but these tools are really for different applications.
