Graco Ultra Cordless (my recommendation) - amzn.to/3BT2B65
If you are in the market for a paint sprayer or are just looking for an easier way to get a great paint finish - look no further! In this video I review the Graco Tc Pro airless paint sprayer and compare to other similar sprayers in the Graco line up.
In general I am very impressed with the paint sprayer, especially when comparing to my original (corded) Truecoat 360 DS model. The fit and function of everything is better along with higher end components. I will say though, given the choice, I would recommend the Graco Ultra Cordless over the Graco Tc Pro Cordless. I've found that you can get the Ultra for the same price as the Tc Pro and you're actually getting a much more capable sprayer.
There are also some versions of the cordless paint sprayers which can spray flammable materials and they either have "Max" or "Plus" in the name. They are quite a bit more expensive so you better be sure you need that capability!
Here are the "tiers" of Graco paint sprayers I talk about in the video:
    Tier 3 Sprayers
    Ultra Cordless (Recommended) - amzn.to/3BT2B65
    Ultra Max Cordless - amzn.to/2V384qn
    Tc Pro Cordless - amzn.to/2V0X4d1
Tc Pro Plus Cordless - amzn.to/3l8iZtj
    Tier 2 Sprayers
    Truecoat 360 VSP (Recommended) - amzn.to/2WoA8EQ
    Truecoat 360 DSP - amzn.to/3zQFYx5
    Tier 1 Sprayers
    Truecoat 360 DS (Recommended) - amzn.to/3BN6Pfz
    Truecoat 360 - amzn.to/3ydgVnK

Used this gun to paint exterior siding on my house, 1500 sq ft and painted exterior of two barns! I love it! And it’s never overheated, not once. It was 90 degrees when I painted last barn, went thru 3 gallons of paint. It’s been awesome! I don’t have the 42oz system still using 32oz so means filling up more but it’s lighter. And you can change the guard to the rac x and use fflp tips which are awesome and a cheaper way to use those tips versus buying the ultra

Just bought this unit to paint some shed siding and other small projects. So far I'm very impressed, makes easy work of t111 shed siding. It's a bit of a paint hog with overspray but the time savings in worth it. I am heavily invested in the Milwaukee m18 battery system and wasn't crazy about now adding a Dewalt cordless tool. I spend about $21 on Amazon and got a Milwaukee-to-Dewalt adapter to use on the paint sprayer and it works great. Sold both Dewalt batteries and the charger for $100.

That skill share sounds great. I have two of these. One Ultra and one TC Pro. I have put about 90 gal. Through the pumps before the clogging problems begin. They spray excellent and I am a pro painter. I refinish trim and paint small 50-70 sq. Ft ceilings with it. Now the clean out. I can do it in about 6-7 minutes.. basically take off cup leave the cup holder top on and tip up side down under a faucet. Switch between prime and spray several times. Easy to clean and 1/2 the time of my big G490’s. Recommended if you do 5-10 jobs per year.

Great sprayer! I have the Ultra and painted the entire interior of my 1600sqf home. I love the interchangeable tips as it helped me get the paint flow/fan size just right for the various paints I used. I know you were concerned about its ability to do big jobs and, while you will definitely get a forearm workout, I had no issues with overheating while running the sprayer continuously through multiple batteries. I also purchased extra 42oz cups and liners and kept other charged batteries handy so I wouldn’t have to stop and refill as often. Just don’t leave paint in the pump overnight. That cost me around $200 for a new pump… I hope this helps some people!

Try doing that multiple times. Lol. It won’t last, they are rated for how many gallons they can spray before issues. You might check that out. And oh the last thing you want when spraying is weight at the gun.

As someone who does parking lot striping, we will typically switch through colors multiple times from white to red to blue and yellow but we may need little touch ups. Maybe a car ran over wet paint or a stencil got forgotten. Something like this would definetly come in handy

I had tc pro just about 2 weeks for a remote job. It's surprising. It's easy to use. I actually use it to paint whole house trim, door, corners, cabinet, base boards( I have 5 batteries total). Now it's about 18 gallons. I am not a pro and I love it.

I bought a graco prox17 a year back. The airless sprayer cart with the gun on the hose. This is one thing I'll stick with cords and hoses. If I were to do it again I'd get a more powerful version, but this one already paid itself off on friends jobs. It's was about the same price as those handhelds

It’s a great sprayer, used it for repaint furniture to flip and omg the freedom you get having it cordless and the speed is incredible. Took 40 minutes to prime with paint roller and brush vs only taking less then 5 Minutes with this sprayer! Thankful I found this sprayer new in the box on offerup for $370

I painted a 175ft long x 17ft high mural with the corded version. I couldn’t afford a large sprayer at the time. But I only had to replace the pump once and that’s very easy. I’m going to purchase the cordless ultra or maybe ultramax version which i read has a brushless motor which is more efficient. Still have a lil more research to do but Just fyi you can do rather large projects with these if need be. You def will get an arm workout tho. These cordless versions are awesome for when you need to travel light but paint big!!! Highly recommended! These things are troopers!

I have the VSP and I used it to paint the entire exterior of my house. It never over heated. It also worked out well. I would run through the a 42 ounce cup, back roll, refill and do another section. I have a full airless rug but I found it perfectly effective to use the little sprayer. Maybe not what it is designed for but worked well for me.

Wow, I was thinking this was like a $100- ish sprayer, lol. The TOPSHAK TS-SG3 cordless sprayer I got for $60 (now $90) during a flash sale is GREAT. I've painted cabinets, fences, furniture, etc., AND I painted my work van with it! And because I took my time to do all the prep over a few weekends, you would never know it wasn't the factory paint. I was looking at the Graco Tc Pro, but after using my cheapo sprayer and seeing this review I'm soooo glad I didn't spend $500 bucks on it!

Years ago I looked at Graco's in big box and learned those models use the RAC V tips versus the better RAC X tips on the pro models sold in paint stores. For same money I went with the base pro model and never looked back. So good for large jobs but for small tasks a pain to set up and clean out (long hose means a lot of paint to flush.) So when they started offering the handhelds I jumped in and got the cheap cheap DIY corded model and it works fine so far, and not as hard to clean up IMO. But only two tips and 1500 PSI so started looking at these better versions but of course Graco playing the same game offering incompatible versions with proprietary tips in big box versus pro paint stores (and Amazon). So my current two speed consumer version was really cheap on a deal day or something - less than 140 bucks so when it wears out I will likely pony up for the Ultra plus as it can spray lacquer and volatiles. But wow over 800 clams plus if Dewalt ever obsoletes the current 20v battery form factor ( and i'm a Makita 18v guy, same fear tho) ...anyway all of these use the flex containers but like you point out the plus has a solvent compatible version to tolerate solvent coatings. You can buy extra flex containers and you can use a plug to seal unused paint in the flex containers (solvent or regular) and just clean the gun for overnight preservation- can't really do that with my pro model that only works with 5 gallon buckets and needs to be cleaned every night or face gumming up the pump, hose and gun. Oh and oil - gotta oil the big boy every time.

I have a TC Pro that I bought at the beginning of the year for small projects. I like that it is easy to clean up in the kitchen sink, I don't need to use a hose outside. But the tool is perfect for trim and doors (small projects as you mentioned). It throws some Behr premium latex which is some of the thickest paint I have ever seen (you can thin with floetrol but I did both and honestly it does not need it).

I’m a union painter in California thanks for the review I think it’s great because for my personal opinion I’ve got a little Graco 390 and yes I’d rather much use that than one of those handheld battery operated ones just due to the fact that it probably takes the same amount of time to clean plus I got a smaller line on it and I can run a quart of paint in my no problem but great info.

Great review! I have the Ultra for a while now and using it for painting cabinets and rooms (no a whole house at time). Your pros and cons are spot on. Two additional points: Storage I like how the compact it is not eating up garage/shop space. Also for the weight, I use two arms/hands ... one supporting paint reservoir and other on the handle. I find this helps in keeping paint sprayer in a better position and thus a more consist finish.

Great vid, you come over very relaxed.
How do you think they'll hold up for long long term use... ie: how long the pump lasts for as they say 100gallon of liquid. Have you found it a problem?
As you say, you can swap out the pump, but it could come costly if you're doing it every year.

Years ago I used to have the old Graco Rotoflow centrifugal sprayer and painted a couple of my houses and fences with it. I found it way superior to any of the nozzle sprayers. Smooth, quiet, worked with any kind of paint, and easy to clean. I thought it was strange that Graco stopped making it.

Good review...pretty much nailed all the good and bad points. I have an ultra and it does come in handy for smaller jobs. Overall, I think if these were a couple hundred bucks cheaper they would be worth the money. You would be better off buying a lower end airless from a box store or just rent one.
One thing that wasn't touched on is if you have the unit that can spray flammable materials, you have to use a grounding cord or else you'll feel a shock while using it. That pretty much defeats the purpose of cordless convenience...you may as well buy the corded version.

One of the biggest benefits I've seen for these vs the larger units is the amount of paint that's needed to even use it. The larger airless go through paint really quick. It takes almost a half gallon just to prime up the system of my large airless. A gallon of paint won't get you very far and then there's still around a 1/3 of the can left when the pickup tube is pretty much useless. These are great if you have a small project and just have a quart of paint to do it.

Cleaning it is not a big deal for me. I use the regular cup so weight is not an issue either. It's my go to sprayer and actually makes it less of a chore to paint.

You can use the Graco RAC X tips (Green) like the FF LP for a much finer spray. You have to change the safety tip out for a RAC X (Blue) safety tip, Graco 246215. Note: that you cannot use a FF LP RAC X tips with the TC Pro (Gray) safety guard/tip.

Kudos to those who have had good luck with these. I will say I did not have luck with the tc pro or ultra pro. Paid $1,000 between both of them and ended up selling both and purchasing a Fuji q4 for the same price and couldn’t be happier. The gracos always were very finicky with the priming, , losing prime and I didn’t like the adjustability. A $50 fflp tip if you want to change how much or little you want to spray vs a spray gun that has those adjustments built in. Graco could do this with their guns but they would be losing money on tips. Just my .02

I have the 17N164 Ultimate (were you calling it the Ultra?). I agree with all of your “not so good “ comments. I’ll also add that I’ve had hit and miss results on spraying trim. Sometimes the paint lays out and other times I get orange peel. I don’t move the adjustments, so I’m baffled. I’ve sprayed interior doors with this gun. The reservoir will do one side plus a little bit more. I think there used to be a backpack reservoir for a gun like this, but it doesn’t seem to be on the market anymore. Anyway, you are correct; this is not a large project gun.

Good job. Does the cordless model 'pulse' (visible paint lines on substrate) the paint out same as the corded model does?

I've gotta agree that the Ultra is the better option. What I really like is how little paint you disturb (buy and put into gun). I really like that you can buy a cap, additional bags and carrier and store the unused paint for later (like the next coat or two) or (like the next days work) - less waste and I really don't want to put unused paint back into the original container or throw it out. With the Ultra using the pro tips, this is the best of all world for smaller jobs like one room trim on paint your home one room at a time, putting the room back, and moving to the next room.

Great review. I almost purchased the ultra to paint some trim thinking it would be faster and easier than my low end magnum airless. Instead I ended up just painting with my HVLP which isn't as light as my airless but it is far easier to clean. I think the most attractive feature of the graco pro/ultra is the fact that you don't need as much material because there aren't any lines. My magnum uses nearly a quart of paint just to get it to the gun.

I bought an Ultra a year ago after using the corded version a few years. Having the ability to use different tips is a huge plus after you figure out which tip sizes work best for what application. I called Graco customer service and spoke to them about the TC Pro vs the Ultra. Even though they are all almost exactly the same, the TC Pro is the one you will find at big box stores. The Ultra is almost exclusively sold through contractor paint suppliers. Sherman Williams even has their own version called the Ultimate.

Would something like this work to spray Duratex? It seems to normally be used in HVLP sprayers, this looks like a direct stand in if I do not want to mess with an air compressor.

Man, I have the corded one, and I've shot three full rooms and repainted my entire house outside
and stained the whole fence too. I always rinse, then again with soapy water and flush with the blue rinse pump saver for storage. Even the cheap corded model is 100% better than any Wagner sprayer any day! If mine dies, I'll just get another corded one.

Travis great review. I do have one thing to say about both the tc pro and ultra models. Graco has stated that both of these are in fact the same sprayer just different name and the same components. The only difference between the 2 is the spray tips that come with each are different. Other than that it's all the same.

Graco can pound sand for the price for the ultra!! (I have to edit this. This price is for the Ultra Max.) 819.00 to 1100.00. Talk about price gouging!! That is way to much for like you said, this can't be used for big jobs.
    Great video and very informative!
    Thanks.
I'm editing again! I really want one! You can get the Utra for about the same price as the Pro. One place on the internet for the Ultra was actually cheaper than the Pro.

How would u compare these to compressor spraying? After first coat I get similar finish to first coat or varnish where I need to sand, not sure why if the coat is not thick enough due to too much air as would of thought paint would seal the surface preventing wood grain lifting preventing usual sand after varnish coat? Would a undercoat spray stop this? What do u experience?

I just got my hands on a new Magnum x7 for $180. I've never used an airless sprayer and I didn't think about how much paint it would use. I'm going to have mostly small projects. Then I see this! I'm thinking maybe sell the x7 and put money toward one of these. Little torn about it though. I think this would be much less hassle than the x7. What say you? I own an escape room so mostly painting props and panels. Maybe have a need to paint a ceiling or room every once in a while but rarely an entire room.

I want one for spraying windows or msybe the occasional couple doors. Doesn’t make since for doing any walls or ceilings because you could easily just cut and rolls those. Obviously for large amounts of wall and ceiling surfaces or lots of doors a regular airless sprayer is the only choice. I must say thou if your only painting a room and you want a nice finish on a couple doors or couple windows then this would be awesome

I have one of the cheaper models and found out the flaws pretty quickly after painting my first project and being limited to the one tip size. For $600 I’ll buy two handheld HVLP(one for water one for oil) which have a variety of tip options @ $100 ea and a bigger airless sprayer like the magnum for big projects which again has a variety of tip options.
Yes they have cords but like you said these small sprayers aren’t designed for big projects so you really shouldn’t have an issue with dragging the cord through wet paint bc you’ll only be painting a couple cabinets or a furniture piece. I really don’t get the philosophy of use of these cordless models especially at their price point.
I bought the DS after you recommended it and was disappointed in the purchase after I found out about tip limitations so I wanted to make sure and leave this comment and hopefully save someone else the heartache
