I love every character on this show so much, and it's great to see an intellectual character be a badass without just being a great fighter. What sells it with Percy is that he's so *calculating*. He takes the time to... calculate all the angles, and it's what makes his fight scenes so damn compelling.
Since this is an animated show, and every detail always matters i have hopes for rippley gun. The moment Percy died it began to glow, probably taking Percys soul like orthax asked. This was surely an intentional detail, and i hope Vex gets to be the one to destroy Orthax and get her lovers soul back. At least that is what i hope for
Ripley assisted the Briarwoods in murdering House De'Rollo and personally tortured Percy and his sister until his escape. She was never "a mild annoyance". But there's no denying she has been getting worse.
This is my new favorite fight in the series. It showcases Percy perfectly. He hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned, his friends are helpless to assist him, and he has to play by those limitations. He is not versatile like Scanlan, fast like Vex or Vax or a sheer powerhouse like Grog or Pike. What he does have is patience. Patience, accuracy, strategy, and those are the tools he uses to overcome his opposition. He uses cover and takes the time to line up a perfect shot, because he knows that one perfect hit is more valuable than a dozen missed ones. He uses the environment to his advantage, manipulating circumstances to gain a better position or get the drop on his enemies. And most importantly of all, he never loses his cool, doesn't even consider the impossibility of his circumstance. Because Percy knows that there is a way out of the mess he's in, and he only has to line up the puzzle pieces to make it happen.
He'll be back. Percy being alive is too important to the wider Critical Role world and later campaigns for him to be left dead like this, and there are too many plot threads set up that haven't been closed yet and key events that haven't happened; Percy taking note of Vorugal's scales to make armour for Vex, the gun glowing as he died, the secret wedding he and Vex have that causes friction with Vax... My guess is The Raven Queen will tell Vax that Percy didn't pass over properly, and task him with getting his soul back from Orthax. In my mind, The Raven Queen represents death and transition to the afterlife, as she explained to Vax and as we saw when Kash died and Vax watched his soul depart. A soul being taken by a demon represents an incomplete transition and a perversion of the natural order of fate, which she will take objection to. It wasn't Percy's time. Or all of this could just be me coping
To those blaming Percy for mercy when there should be none: it was an unwinnable fight for him and that's why - if Percy killed Anna Ripley, Orthax would posess him again and his grip over Percy would be even stronger, maybe even impossible to break. So it was lesser evil for Percy to die than to become posessed again.
This! Also, what the hell is peoples problem these days constantly bashing heroic protagonists for showing mercy/compassion to their enemies? Like good grief.
I've watched campaign one, and this show is fire. This was a fire fight. I know they changed some things, but I actually think it's good they did this as it gives his death a depth, but they should definitely revive him to maintain continuity, maybe as a slightly changed person due to the torture that Orthax did to his soul. Fire script 🔥
Seriously, the gunfights are my FAVORITE part of S03. They're so beautifully contrasted with the more traditional "epic" magic battles with people doing big swooping gestures to conjure spells, making gracious entries or shouting instructions to one another... In contrast, the way gunfights are edited is incredibly fast-paced, both in the case of Percy vs Ripley and The Twins vs Ripley. Any lull in movement, any hesitation, any instance of standing still, quipping off a one-liner or even doing the same type of motion for a fraction of a second too long is instantly punished with getting shot. Percy stops to say "Vax makes it look so easy" and bam, immediately shot in the arm. The frame of Vax carrying Vex in the air going on for more than half a second: Vax is instantly shot out of the air by Ripley's crew. It really shows how much of a chaotic wildcard guns are in this typical fantasy setting, even Percy, the inventor of firearms in the world struggles in a firefight, while Vex and Vax, both with vestiges to boot can barely coordinate their strategy in the chaos of the constant shots.
@@shazaz1059 lmao like why she always being so flirtatious around him? She tortured him as a teen and looked like she was into as well, what kinda sick kink is that?! 💀💀
