I always loved this line and still do. They sound really good and have character. I even prefer them to most PST 7s and Alphas

I don't often comment on the playing on demo videos, but that is some nice playing there. Shows off the cymbals well too.

I always find the 16" crash to be the weakest sounding cymbal in most series. Doesn't matter which manufacture. Its not a "full" crash, not a splash, not a ride.... 16" cymbals from Sabian, ZIldjian, Meinl, etc also suffer this same issue as well. There is something about the 16" size... I just never like the sound of them for some reason.

LanceCampeau--That is a subjective opinion, and just means that you don't prefer 16" crashes. I would agree that most 16" cymbals in intermediate or beginner series in all cymbal companies sound like crap though..However, the Paiste Signature 16" full crash, Signature Traditional thin crash, and Signature Dark Energy 16" crashes all sound amazing, and their tones lend it to sound like a larger cymbal than it's 16" size entails. I have a vintage 2002 16" paiste black label crash and it's a lot thinner and warmer than its modern counterpart, making it sound slightly larger, like a "17 crash would sound like. I also find that 16 K Zildjian dark thin crashes (which i once owned) sound great as well.

I used to use a lot of 16s because of budget, but now my smallest crash is an 18". The only 16" crashes I've played that still feel okay after switching are zildjian k dark and Paiste masters dark. Btw the 19" masters dark crash is the best cymbal I've ever heard in my opinion

I have a PST5 medium ride. Nice cymbal and it only cost me £25. My Paiste 502 ride is even better and I prefer it to my Sabian AAX and Zildjian A rides.

dean jones They sound absolutely terrible to me, but they look like an old, small Pearl Export.

It's a sad thing to say, but they ruined the whole series in 2014. PST5 used to be ok, you could find some really decent cymbals like 16" thin crash or 20" rock ride, but this new version sounds awful, especially the heavier one.
