Hi, do the 16" and 17" crash fade out quickly or do they sustain just as long? Been looking into a 16 or 17 because of their higher pitch but I'm not sure whether they will sound flatter because of their smaller dimensions. Would like to hear your thoughts!
@@marc.over. Hi! The sustain of 16" and 17" is ok for medium volumes but for me the pitch of 16" Full Crash is perfect, since the pitch/weight of Power Crashes are too high for me. That is why I am searching a 18" Full Crash, longer sustain while keeping the pitch and volume more controllable. The Paiste sound check on their site is very good but I reccomend to check at your preferred dealer, If possible.
Many decades ago, after being blow away by Chad Wackerman, I researched his setup, and found he was using Paiste Signature. The local shop did not carry much Paiste at all, so without even trying one out, I ordered a Paiste Signature 18" crash. Was very nervous, as they are not cheap, as we all know. When it arrived, I first walked around the entire crash cymbal collection in the story and hit each one. Then I set up the Paiste and hit it... IT BLEW ME AWAY. Never heard such a beautiful, full spectrum, sparkly sounding crash in my life. That was the start of my Paiste 'addiction', LOL. I now have various Signature series, Dark Energy, and Twenty series. All amazing.

What a great comparison...it's too Bad I am living so far away from such great store... whish you all rhe best for your business! Greetings from Germany!
This is an epic comparison. Have always loved Paiste. The 602s and MEs are my favorites, but I celebrate the existence of each and every (pro) line. And yeah, those 15" ME hats are wonderful. I'm not sure I would refer to them as "chocolatey" (huh, Vinnie?), but they sure are delicious.
@@conalls2480 High copper bronze is more malleable so it's easier to use high volume manufacturing methods on it and the more tin you insert in to the alloy, the more brittle it becomes. Naturally, the more pliable the bronze, the easier to manufacture, the cheaper the product. Also using b8 helps with the power hammering paiste uses, making close duplication so much easier.
I've always used Zildjian, but they came out in support of Marxism (BLM), so I'm shopping around. I won't support a Marxist company. I've been very impressed by Paiste. Likely better than Zildjians. I hope they aren't on the woke fad, too.
Please, dear lord, tell me you guys are gonna do these kinds of videos for other companies too. Had a series like this been out when I was in the market, not only would I have shed a tear of joy, but I would also have immediately bought all of the gear from you guys in appreciation. Thanks for helping me discover your amazing channel!
Since I first played a Signature ride cymbal in a music store when the line was first introduced I've been enamored by them. The feel and sound was so different from Zildjian. So "musical" while feeling so good to play. I'd love to add a set of either the signature or 2002 line to my set up. Never new that Bonham and Porcaro played Paiste. Thanks for a great informative video. They seem to get better and better.
Long time Paiste fanatic here, too. The reissued Formula 602's have been some of my favorite cymbals since my first encounter with the Signatures in the early 90's. They're perfect: not too bright, not too dark, no weird warble when they decay, just a pure & perfect tone. I could see how some may feel they're a little sterile but I love them. Just wish they'd have brought out a 22" F602 heavy with the recent additions to the line earlier this year.
Thanks for giving history, chronology and overview of all the Paiste cymbal lines. Very useful. I’ve played 2002, 505 and had a fantastic Sound Creation Dark Ride 22” about 30 years ago. Now I’m starting again and am amazed by the Signature, Signature Traditionals and 602 ME. Thanks for a really great review. Greetings from a subscribing Swedish 🇸🇪 drummer. Best drum channel.
This was fun to watch! I love how you showcased each line in the musical style they were meant for rather than playing the same beat all over again :) Very creative work especially on the rude and the sign.trad. 👌🏼
THIS IS PERFECT !!!! - THANK YOU !!! - Paiste (2002) Cymbals have been my favorite since 1982. With so many lines since then, this type of comprehensive video comparison is AWESOME !!! (If Paiste ever releases a "low volume" line of cymbals, I'm done trying to decide which ones to buy :D )
It took me over 25 years to discover Paiste, though as a kid I used to drool over the Signatures. I went to Paiste, left, and came back. Even if I get other cymbal sets to try, they're not going anywhere.
I am 100% going to recommend the PST7s and 900 series to students/intermediate drummers looking to upgrade their cymbals on a budget. I’ve played PST7s a couple of times, and they’re remarkable for the money. I generally like thin, jazzy cymbals these days, but for a newer player, they’re waaaay to easy to break. PST7s are plenty good enough for recording most genres, and compared to the Zildjian ZBTs and Sabian B8s I grew up around, they blow them out of the water! Great video!
Great video.... you guys are a huge help with these product comparisons....thanks! My favorites... 15" Dark Energy Hi Hats 20" Modern Essentials Crash 22" Big Beat Multi/Ride
Great video! Care has been taken to adjust the Pan together with the camera angles 👍🏻 I use a combination of RUDE, Signatures and Giant Beat. For my money, Paistes are by far the highest quality/sound out there for ages now.
Great video, thank you so much - absolute pleasure to watch. I am a big Paiste fan and mix Signatures, Masters, Modern Essentials, Formula 602‘s and Dark Energy‘s according to the musical needs. They all go very well together.
Signature Traditional crashes for me, dark energy hi hats and a 22 masters dark ride.... Those are my favourites. Paiste make fabulous cymbals, they record brilliant as well :)
Thank you so much for this video! Extremely informative! I have a lot of cymbals (most of them Paiste) already, but I now believe that I need the 19" Dark Energy crash and the 20" Signature Full crash...
Appreciate all the work you put into this video fellas. I really like the Signature Dark Energy and the 602's . Hey Shane , you're right mate those hats are nice ! Thanks again 👍
Your videos are awesome. Great product comparisons, excellent sound quality. Regret to say I am not based in the US, so purchasing from you guys would be a complete customs/import nightmare; but would like to express my appreciation for your guidance nevertheless. Rock on.
I wish you guys had a store in Dallas Tx. These days I mostly play jazz. I own cymbals by Paiste (Twenty, Masters, Signatures and 602s), Zildjian (Ks, Constantinople, Sweet As), and Sabian (AAs) and Istanbul. I personally try and hand pick cymbals in person because of the variability in sound from one copy of the same model to the next and I mix brands for venues and styles I play. That said, Paiste stands out in that for a particular model of cymbal their sound seems more consistent than other brands. Accordingly, If I were buying from an internet dealer, I would be more comfortable with Paiste as their manufacturing methods seem to yield more consistency of results for a given cymbal model. You guys do a great job with your videos!
Thanks for the extensive comparison guys! Very enjoyable. 🥇 Original Signature Series...but RUDE series was ahead of its time, for metal. Those chinas!! . Stay safe :)
The effort you guys put into comparisons like this is incredible. Love my Paiste’s including my 15” 602ME hi-hats.... 100% agree with your verdict on those Shane! 👍😀 I’m in the UK so not realistic to shop there but will pay you a visit if I’m ever Stateside.
Thanks so much for this. Was a huge amount of work for you guys to do this, and you did an excellent job. I have been a loyal Paiste fan for decades. This video made me appreciate some of the series I have not tried. However, as many have said, the ONLY downside of Paiste is the $$$. My MANY Paiste purchases (most have been Signature) have been a bit painful to afford.. only broken a few, but always expensive to replace. But, man, do I love them. :-)
I've always been a 2002 fan I'm not a professional player so I didn't want to spend a fortune on my drums. That is why I bought the PST7 set and it is wonderful. I don't think there are any better cymbals at this price.
I’ve owned 2002 hats/crash/ride, Sig dark crisp hats (gorgeous), and Big Beat hats/multi-crashes. I love them all! Currently use BB and love them. Awesome live and recorded.
My 15" Modern Essentials are just perfect. I also own the 14" and they are amazing but the 15's are just absolutely incredible. My only other pair of hi-hats that are more amazing are my 15" 2002 Sound Edge. Those are absolute perfection.
Same exact thing happened to me with the Sabian Artisan hats. Got the 14s like em a lot but the 15s have that extra body with a lil less shrill on the sizzles.

This is the BEST comparison video with Paiste Cymbals , thank you guys... I really Appreciate your effort !!! My best regards to you...
That means a lot to us. Thank you, El Zurdo!
What a great comparison...it's too Bad I am living so far away from such great store... whish you all rhe best for your business! Greetings from Germany!
Thank you for mentioning Jeff Porcaro. A true legendary drummer too. RIP
Great work as always, guys. I know this is a marketing tool, but it's also a labor of love. These cymbals all sound great.
Total labor of love!
They are all great sounding cymbals. I would not hesitate to mix series.
WOW, great compilation! i must go to toilet but i cant go, because all these cymbals sound so great so i cant stop this video :D
Nice job guys!
#AdultDiapers
This is an epic comparison. Have always loved Paiste. The 602s and MEs are my favorites, but I celebrate the existence of each and every (pro) line. And yeah, those 15" ME hats are wonderful. I'm not sure I would refer to them as "chocolatey" (huh, Vinnie?), but they sure are delicious.
"You get what you pay for"
Paiste cymbals are
the best, thanks DCNH for killer video!
This guy gets it. Thanks for watching!
I’m a Zildjian guy.. but damn! Paiste really knows B8 alloy.... I love the 2002s and 602s. The pst7s are amazing as well
Bryan Corey drums 602s sound like Avedis Zildjians basically 😄
I think most other cymbal companies used B8 alloy in their beginner line cymbals to undermine Paiste. The proof is in the pudding though, for sure
@@RigoStar I checked it out. You're right. They absolutely do sound like Zildjians. Freaky.
We try to get a little better every video! Thanks for noticing, and for your support, Dan.
Beautiful playing while showing off the big beat in particular
I do not even play drums, but I love watching your videos.
The RUDE line is serious! Amazing that a 20in. cymbal sounded higher in pitch than the 18in. Definitely got me thinking about switching up!

Even Paiste's entry level PST series sounds incredible. Paiste magic
I was right there with you until they got back to the pst after hearing everything else.
@fartpooboxohyeah8611 No they don't.
Those dark energy hats are spot on
This was fun to watch!
I love how you showcased each line in the musical style they were meant for rather than playing the same beat all over again :)
Very creative work especially on the rude and the sign.trad. 👌🏼
Thanks so much!
Another superbly produced video, guys!
Thank you!!
I need those 602 modern crashes…what a sound!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It took me over 25 years to discover Paiste, though as a kid I used to drool over the Signatures. I went to Paiste, left, and came back. Even if I get other cymbal sets to try, they're not going anywhere.
For me the 2002 Black Big Beats!! Best of all worlds 👌
15" Dark Energy Hi Hats
20" Modern Essentials Crash
22" Big Beat Multi/Ride
EXCELLENT combo.
Great video! Care has been taken to adjust the Pan together with the camera angles 👍🏻 I use a combination of RUDE, Signatures and Giant Beat. For my money, Paistes are by far the highest quality/sound out there for ages now.
Thank you gentlemen, this comparison is really awesome!
Thanks for watching!
Giant Beats, 2002s and 602 ME for me! Thanks for making this video!
Thanks for watching, and taking the time to comment!
Great video, thank you so much - absolute pleasure to watch. I am a big Paiste fan and mix Signatures, Masters, Modern Essentials, Formula 602‘s and Dark Energy‘s according to the musical needs. They all go very well together.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great Video! Thanks for putting that together! Loved the 2002 Classics and the 602 Modern Essentials!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow!! Thank you, I am struggling to find Paiste's in our local shops because I have wanted to A/B. This has been so helpful.
This was such amazing work!
I thank you so much for making these comparisons. They are huge help for us all. 😊 👍
Glad it was helpful!
very very hugs to the whole team at Drum 🥁 Center and Paiste Cymbals....👏😂🤙
Right back at you, Reginaldo!
Signature Traditional crashes for me, dark energy hi hats and a 22 masters dark ride.... Those are my favourites. Paiste make fabulous cymbals, they record brilliant as well :)
Very good choices!!
I’m playing exactly this, great combo
I woke up at sunday morning to work and then... I find another glorious video from DCP, 41:23 lenght jajajaj
Really quality video! Better insight than I find on Paiste page itself. Thumbs up.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really appreciate the time you guys took to make this video 👍
thank you.
I have 2002s and Sigs. Those Big Beats sound incredible!
Great job on this. Many great lines under the Paiste umbrella. Signature, 2002, and 602 all appeal to me.
Thank you so much for this video! Extremely informative! I have a lot of cymbals (most of them Paiste) already, but I now believe that I need the 19" Dark Energy crash and the 20" Signature Full crash...
Thank you so much for watching! I own both of those cymbals, and they are GORGEOUS.
A real treat! Thank you guys so much!
Thank you for watching, Linus!
I can't imagine how long it took to edit this video. BTW, GREAT comparison video!
It took an obscene amount of time, but at least the subject was something I love! Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback, Greg.
These comparison videos are extremely helpful and insightful. Thanks for doing this!
Glad it was helpful!
que increíble comparativa!
los platillos Paiste poseen una gran variedad de sonidos, para mi la serie Signature traditional una de las mejores 👍
Drummers are impatient people (well I am…) but this video gives a great overview. Added the 14” medium light hi hats to my top of the list. Thank you.
Cheers, Angus. Thanks for watching, hope to meet you someday!
"At first, I thought people were making fun of them, like they were 'pasty-sounding' cymbals or something." - Carmine Appice
Our pleasure and there is so much to love in the Paiste line-up!
I've always been a 2002 fan I'm not a professional player so I didn't want to spend a fortune on my drums. That is why I bought the PST7 set and it is wonderful. I don't think there are any better cymbals at this price.
Same, PST7 is the best
comp. pst7 2002
hats 29:47 30:24
crash 34:48 32:59
ride 37:21 38:07
Wuhans are better. B20.

@@ethancundiff6422 you're the type to wipe back to front.
I’ve owned 2002 hats/crash/ride, Sig dark crisp hats (gorgeous), and Big Beat hats/multi-crashes. I love them all! Currently use BB and love them. Awesome live and recorded.
OMG!!!! Masters, Signature Traditionals, Signature Dark Energy, Signature Classic!!!! I want a set of each!!!!
Agree wholeheartedly with Shane that the 15” ME hats are the best hats I have ever owned and played. Extremely versatile and crisp!
