Thank you so much for this video, you’ve actually inspired me to lift my kL but didn’t know how until I saw your other videos and as I was looking at parts I saw they had a centering wheel kit but no one has information on how it’s installed so thank you for being the first one. Thank you for the great videos.
Thank you for your time on making things videos. Since I've gotten my KL I've noticed there isn't much for help out there. I do plan on getting a Gladiator in the next couple years, but for now I'm gong to enjoy this KL.
We've enjoyed making them and glad you've found them useful. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I wear this one out. I really like it but we'll see.
Great video. Helpful. Thank you for sharing. a Quick thought when working underneath a vehicle and takeoff the tires off slide it underneath the opposite side where are you are working, God forbid Jack slips the car will fall on the tire not on you😅
Thank you for the instructions. I have 2014 Cherokee Limited 2.0td and planning to install a lift kit. I was looking if the centering kit works and how to install it. Your videos are very helpful. Thank you again.
I was the same way...not many install vids out there...i am bad about forgetting to take video of stuff until AFTER i had done it. I have soo much half-install footage its sad... But i will say, if you ALREADY have the dobs suspension on it, it is NOT that simple to install these. When i would try to raise the control arm to ease the tension...it would just lift the whole car! And then when i got the bolt out to get the spacer in, the linkage mount had shifted rear-ward and it was all i could do to get the bolt lined back up in the hole. I spent about 2 hours messing with it in my driveway. I ended up having a shop re-do it for me.
Would it be easier to do this with the spring is all the way out? I'm getting the 2inch mfc lift and was thinking it would be a lot easier to put these on at the same time with no tension
I just had to loosen up the bolts where the spacers go and used a crow bar to pry the trail arm forward. When you loosen those bolts their's a lot of pressure you have to make sure you have it lined back up properly when you tighten them up.
Do you mind me asking when you brought it back into the shop what did you adjust to get some difference...i just installed the hazard sky centering kit on mine and put 265/70/17’s and I’m still getting rub on the rear wheel well..it’s literally like the centering kit did nothing...
Basically just came down to loosening the bolts where the spacers go. Then tried to get as much pressure as possible off of the bracket and bolts. Then took a crow bar and pried on it to line the bolts up properly. Overall the best you'll get is about 1/4" of change with the centering kits.
@@lancepickeral452 nope. I didn't have any rubbing after the lift and adding the larger tires to start with. After putting on the spacers I had some rub on one side. I had to adjust that side like I said and had no more rub. After I installed the spacers I realized it wasn't necessary on mine.
Do them spacers actually centre the wheel, or just centre the drag-link..? It seems that they only lower the link, and not really move it in a rearwards way.
I still have some rubbing in my front fender. I'm planning on finally taking care of it this week. As for readjusting, after I test drove it with the spacers on my rear wheel was rubbing. I had to take the tire back of, loosen the bolts to the trail link arm and used a crowbar to push the bracket forward.
@@MootsKLAdventure the rubbing is because of larger tire size or because of the lift? I mean if I go for lifting with same tire size will I face rubbing?
That stinks. I haven't noticed any negative effects on mine. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't have taken the time to install these though. I didn't feel like it was worth it in the long run.
I had to get a pry bar behind the trail link arm and tweak it forward to get it in the right position before tightening the bolts back down with the spacers on.
It might have moved it a 1/2". I emailed HS asking about it. They said you'll get from a 1/4" to a 1/2" of movement. That's not very much really. Hard to tell without measuring.
@@MootsKLAdventure I did as well. Sent picture of measurements and they never replied back I wrote on Facebook as well.. even Alignment shop said it did nothing.. just maybe put more stress on trailing arm bushings
@@chrisfigueroa3486 When your bolting up the trailing arm you need to have a pry bar on it pushing towards the rear. There is some adjustment before you tighten it up. That's why he rubbed after he put it back together and had to adjust the arm to stop the rub. I have a 2019 trailhawk with the exact setup and the same 265/70R17 your running and no rub.
I guess if you got the right size you could try it. Like I say at the end I wouldn't spend my money or time on it if I had to do it all over again. Really didn't do much for me
Yeah I got several comments about that in this video. I got in a hurry and made the mistake of not putting jack stands under it for sure. If you check out the other videos I've done where I jacked it up you'll see jack stands. It was a mistake I shouldn't have made. Greetings to you as well.

I have the ATP 2" lift. Love it. 265/70/17 BFG KO2's. Love them. Had centering kit installed, didn't do a damn thing. Don't waste your time or money.
Yeah like I said early in the video, if you're not getting any rub you don't really need it. Max movement from it is 1/4".

Opening a package from Hazard Sky as hail falls....nice
Now that’s meta
Yeah that's true it's not just about the clearance though it's about looking symmetrical and everything. So I would do it for the cosmetic reason.
Yeah I get it.
awesome video, now everything makes sense lol.
Why would lift manufactures not include this as part of the Lift Kit is beyond me...
Yeah it really should just go with it. I might be mistaken but I think the new teraflex lift for the kl does include it.

100% yes. If you have the tension off when doing the lift that's the time to do it.
Thanks for the video but I am dying to know what you did at the end to readjust it and make it right. Thanks
I just had to loosen up the bolts where the spacers go and used a crow bar to pry the trail arm forward. When you loosen those bolts their's a lot of pressure you have to make sure you have it lined back up properly when you tighten them up.
@@MootsKLAdventure Would have helped to, after putting the screws in not torqued, letting the suspension down the torque them?
I tried adjusting them and the only thing that helped was using the crow bar.
@@MootsKLAdventure Pft. maybe you could have done that without any spacers. this sounds like a poorly engineered fix to the off-centering.
@@Justin81979 after doing it I don't feel like it was worth it.
Do the bolts have enough thread in the hole after adding the spacers
Yeah they had plenty of room after adding the spacers

They do shift the wheels rearward but not much. I think it ended up moving the wheel about a 1/4 inch back.
Not for nothin but I cut the crap outta my fender liner so there’s no rubbing after my lift and new tires. Good luck with it bubba
Still planning on heating it up and trying to remold it first. If that doesn't work then I'm going to start cutting. Thanks!

Thanks for the vid, I don’t see why I can’t do this with some washers
I would think you probably could.
Back in the day, 80s...thats what we would of used, oversized bolt with washers welded on both sides as a spacer
next time add some jack stands
Yeah I hear ya. Should always put safety first.
How thick were the spacers
I'm not sure exactly how thick they were. I didn't measure them but I'd guess under an inch.
