    Glad you measured the strut to tire clearance showing the need for the lift. I've said it multiple times on the facebook pages that you need a lift to fit 265/70R17 and 255/75R17 tires. The person that keeps saying you don't only runs 245/70R17's which of course would fit without it lol, so he has no idea. Great video.

      Since the TH has a taller stance from the factory over an AD1, if a 2” lift is added to an AD1 kL can the same tire size still be used? Curious if the strut would be an inch lower on an AD1
      Kind regards

    I ended up using a fender roller i had laying around and a heat gun and was able to shape the liner back quite a bit. I ended up not even needing to trim my pinch weld with the liner shaped all the way back. No rub now at all. The front lower part of the bumper on the 2019+'s stick's in more, so i had to dremel some of the plastic, but looks stock still. i posted the photo's on the jeep KL facebook page.

    I had to trim a metric tonne of front fender on my driver side, and grind a ton off the pinch seam on the passenger side to fit my 265-70-17, but Milestar's do run 'large' so that might be part of it.
    These things really do look so much better with a lift and bigger tires!

    • @MootsKLAdventure
      @MootsKLAdventure  4 роки тому

      Yeah the Wildpeak's definitely run smaller than the Milestar's and big time agree that the lift and larger tires make them look tougher. Eventually I'd like to put on the Dobinson Suspension like you have as well. I'm going to be installing the rear well centering kit from Hazard Sky this week as well.

      I have a 2" spacer lift on mine and had major rubbing on the lower control arm with steering at full lock running 265/75 17. Swapped back for 245/70 17 and am very happy. Still plenty of ground clearance and I like the narrower tire (better bite in the Colorado snow and ice).

    @byronbaker1704 2 роки тому +1

    Hey I put a rough country 2" lift on my 15 trail hawk with the 255/70/17 Faulkner wild on, and the place they rub is the same as yours, i took a heat gun and reformed the cover but behind that area is the body part that the tires will still rub on, i trimmed some of that off it helped a bit but still rubs depending on the angle im at when i turn. Did you find a way to over come that?

    • @MootsKLAdventure
      @MootsKLAdventure  2 роки тому

      So I'm guessing you're saying you have rub in the inside control arm at full lock? That's the only place I had rub after I trimmed the pinch weld and remolded the plastic liner. I never solved that rub I just got used to not turning the wheel all the way.

  • @joshlight5360
    @joshlight5360 2 роки тому +1

    Thinking of putting the rough country 2” lift with bf Goodrich K02 255/70r17 question: you think towing would cause the rear to squat and cause some serious damage over bumps? I tow a 21’ center console and that’s the only thing holding me back….maybe need to do a more expensive 3” lift or something to accommodate….?

    Hey man, great video! Question:
    I have the same set up as you (Mfc lift instead of HS, and Nitto Ridge Grapplers instead of Falkens) but I also had 1.5” spacers put in. They rub and full crack in the front on the inside well. Pinch weld was trimmed back and all. Is it the spacers causing this? If so, what do you recommend. I love the stance but hate the rub.

    • @MootsKLAdventure
      @MootsKLAdventure  3 роки тому +1

      So if I understand correctly it's not rub on the plastic fender but on the control arm or part of the frame maybe? I haven't put on any spacers yet but mine does rub at full lock a little in that location. I actually had figured that If I put on spacers it would stop that. If it is rubbing on the front plastic in the well then you could use something like a dremel tool to shave it back. Not sure if that was really helpful for you or not lol.

      Thanks! I was going to try and put on the larger tires before I lifted it but when I got to the tire shop to put them on we set the tires up next to it and it looked like they wouldn't fit. So I went ahead and installed the lift first. The main change to the Trailhawk was just that the speedometer is off now. The ride quality has been great if not a little smoother. Their is more tire noise with these over the factory tires but not very much. If your interested in the process I went through I've got videos on it leading up to putting tires on. hey, just an FYI you actually can use the rear wheel centering kits on trail hawks. I have a hazard sky lift, and ended up doing the MFC centering kit after talking to Jesse from MFC he said its recommended, to use the centering kit if you are running larger tires. I still don't have my tires (looking at the exact same setup as you!) Also how much is the speedo off by I've heard 2-3MPH at highway speeds?

    • @MootsKLAdventure
      @MootsKLAdventure  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah the centering kit seems like a good idea. It runs fine without it but you can tell the tire isn't centered. I recently ordered the Hazard Sky wheel centering kit. As for the speedo is concerned, The faster you go the more off it is. At 70 it will read 65. If you check out www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc you can put in the original size tires and then the new size and it will give you a rundown of what the speed vs speedometer reading is. It seems to be pretty accurate with mine.

      Well for me I really like the look, how it drives and the interior. After that the project part is just good fun. I'm not really a Subaru guy. Mainly don't like CVT's. Not really a 4runner guy. I've heard they lack acceleration. I don't like the seating in the Tacoma's. Really the only thing I'd consider replacing my Cherokee with is the new Branco. But I'd rather stick with my Cherokee. Plus my kids love it and we enjoy messing with it together. So waste of money? I'd have to disagree. The fun we have had with it as a family makes it anything but a waste of money.

      Why come to a jeep video just to talk about a Subaru?

      The drive train is trash atleast with the suby you have gearing options and a ton more aftermarket support

      @@777javon I came to the video because I was seriously interested in it. We were looking at getting a new Cherokee for my wife. At the end of the day, there are a ton of better options. If you can't see that, you are blind.
      I am a TRUE Jeep guy. I have owned real Cherokees. I have built real Cherokees. Not this 2 inch "lift" junk. I've built XJs with serious suspension.
