I broke a screw off in one of the mounting holes and needed to get off the back plastic housing. This is the only video that helped me to do that. I was very worried that I would break the housing, but watching the video gave me the confidence to do it. Thank you for your help. Excellent video! 👍
How would one go about removing the black outer frame? I have the classical problem of a light shining through the space in between the frame and display. I want to take the back cover off and remove the black frame to simply glue the loose spot back together. Any help?
Thank you so much for this video! It's the only one I could find that shows how to take it apart Quick question; What would be the best place to buy components/parts? Is Ebay the only viable option? I'm in Canada Thanks!
Thank you for uploading this! I was afraid to start my joystick repair as i was uncertain how to actually open the monitor, but now i can easily get access to it.
Thanks a bunch for posting this video. My C49RG90 was rattling on the right side of the screen. Turned out to be the power supply part that is losely fitted. Stuck some paper in the sides to stop it moving and the rattle is now gone.
question : is it possible to split the metal backing from the screen with all the electronics still instaled to it , by only removing the ribon cable for the screen itself , or is the screen glued to the metal backing ? reason i ask is i have one monitor with a good screen and one monitor with good electronics , but i like to keep all serialnumbers together (serial numbers are programmed intoo the board and on a sticker of the metal backing )
Thanks man, I made 1 out of 2 differently broken ones today (1 broken display and 1 warming up bug). works again like a charm! Thanks so much for your Video! 👍
great video.. Question: I have that exact same monitor and it has a single vertical purple line on the right side of it. what do you recommend as a fix? Thanks and keep up the good work!
Thanks for the video buddy! I took off the case and wiggled my jog joystick (button works but doesn’t show the menu button), opened and moved it a bit and it’s now working!
Samsung directly but the problem the display has the backlight built in so you have to replace that whole unit which is quite expensive and delicate by the time you receive the screen it will probably be cheaper to just get a new one. Put it this way if I is a business owner call Samsung and tell them a screen within warranty has backlight issues they will write off and tell us to destroy the panel and bring it to a recycler and just send a new one out because it's cheaper.
How can we do a hard reset? The firmware update went bad and didn't default back. It turns on, you see the backlighting, no source message or anything comes up, then it goes black but not in sleep mode. The OSD never shows when you press the menu jog stick. I tried to do a blind update again, just turning it on then pressing the menu, then holding the jog stick forwards towards me for like 10 secs, then jog left and press which should clear the what to update question, and then jog left again to confirm the update, but I don't know if there is a different path when downgrading the firmware. The update didn't default to the factory-installed firmware, so I am trying to figure out how to do a hard reset. Can't find anything on it or a button, and no combo like unplug then plug back in a while pressing the menu (as an example) has worked yet. Anyone knows how to force the update from the USB blind or a hard factory reset? Thank you
Thank you for the video, very informative. I have a samsung 34 odyssey g5 and somehow there is a miniature bug behind the panel which moves on the screen, it is basically behind the glass and cannot do anything. Can you or anyone else think of way to deal with this absurdity as it very annoying for a black dot to move on the screen? Otherwhise the monitor is fully workable
You're a brave man, opening up one of these :) I'd be afraid to kill it. Right now I'm dealing with the port cover on the back being stuck and un-openable. I'm so afraid to crack it by applying too much force. Do you know how to get replacement parts for this kind of thing?
If you pull it apart and if it's the power supply or the HDMI component box I'm sure you can find those online. If it's the panel it might be cheaper for you just to get a new monitor
Yes, it should come with a circle adapter that supports normal VESA's of like 75mm and 100mm (double check their websites) but you need a mount capable of holding the weight
Hi I have a question. My screen is broken due to the screen itself being damaged (crack on screen) so when I turn it out I get a typical grey with random color lines across the screen. I'm wondering if it's worth fixing it or should I just buy a new one?
So mine displays no picture or on screen options. When I turn it on, the screen turns on since the black gets brighter but no image or no signal bouncing around. I bought a spare broken on that has a cracked screen but still has a picture, transfer all the parts you showed in this video into the monitor that only has a bright black screen. Still no picture, any idea?
My G9 Odyssee makes cracking noises especially on warmup. A no screw backplate is a so super idea Samsung ... not. Cracking on expansion all the time.... I thought they had fixed it with the TSSR version which I have. Otherwise good monitor.
Try it out without the backplate. I think its cracking while the monitorcomponents warm up and radiate heat to the plastic backcover which then expands. Just my guess, i habe the same, will post here if I get it fixed.
Crap Mine is dark on Right side, AFTER Samsung "Fixed it" NOW I am fighting them VERY bad customer service!!! It seems like 3 LED (Backlights) died once i get this resolved or replaced I'm gonna try to fix it my self. When it's the panel like that better to just buy a new monitor. A panel costs just as much usually as a new monitor

If the construction of the G9s is much the same, I suppose it wouldn't be hard to make your own black finish version haha.
