- Hey everyone! The Shadow Systems Foundation Series guns are in the market for $679! Here we do a walk-through of the three versions and discuss how to select the model that is right for you.
i bought a MR920 Foundation about 2 weeks ago for my birthday. didnt get a chance to take it to the range until yesterday. before i got onto a lane i saw the shop had a CR920 Combat (no optic cut) blue label in stock so i bought that too. My experiences with both are this:
MR920 Foundation - it took almost 200 rounds to get broken in. it would fire and cycle but slide would get stuck just before getting into battery. i'd have to keep smacking the back of the slide to get it to seat. aside from that it shot fine and accurate, just kept getting stuck. went through about 4 mags kinda taking my time. then took a box of 100 rounds, 124 gr, loaded it all up and just shot it as fast as i could at about 10 meters on an IPSC target. kept 99 rounds in the A box with one flyer (shooter error). but it got smoother towards the end.
CR920 Combat - didnt have a single issue. didnt put as many rounds through it, maybe a couple of mags, cause i was mainly focused on getting the MR920 broken in.
just thought i'd share my first hand experience from yesterday with the Foundation and a Combat version of these pistols
Just brought my new foundation mr920 to the range today. Absolutely amazing. Ran 300rds of 124 gr completely flawless out of the box.
Love to hear it, my mr920 is on the way and I couldn’t be more excited.
Anyone else having a lot of wear and or small chips along the barrel hood inside of 500 rounds?
@@marklamantia9579 I have not experienced this, I’m around 600 round in. I haven’t had a failure outside of the break in period.
@@marklamantia9579 hm, that is interesting, have you tried contacting their customer support? They are fantastic
Amazing company all around. Customer service is top notch and product line is amazing
I FINALLY was able to at least hold a Shadow System's today. Was an mr920. And I'm glad I held it and a glock 19 back to back. Because I was surprised by something and not surprised by another. The surprise was that the glock 19 was noticeably wider to me grip wise. And slippery in my hand. The mr920 actually felt a touch narrower. And not surprisingly because of the grip texture it felt great. I could hold the gun just find. I'm so glad I was able to finally try one out as I'm about to buy my first pistol. These look phenomenal. Plus I'm a fellow Texan so supporting a Texas company would be dope.
My MR920L w/optic is my daily EDC and my favorite to shoot. All around great products and service.
I took my MR slide with the Radian Afterburner comp and put it on the DR frame. Sits almost flush. Runs great, shoots SO flat! Y’all need to make an MR/XR comped gun already!! Listen to the people lol.
I'm about to do the same thing. I wanted to do a Shadow comp on it, but I don't think they'll be releasing one any time soon.
What they need to do is a ported gun.
@@Logan-mr4xg ported, comped something with a flush frame!
I was literally thinking last week about how I wish I could get a basic gun with the SS optic mount and backstrap system without the bells and whistles. Wow - that looks like exactly what this gun is.
I love my MR920 elite. Got it on yalls fantastic law enforcement program. Shadow Systems actually gives a shit about law enforcement and treats their customers like family. Get one of these instead of a Glock or Zev. You won’t be disappointed.
I have a MR920. It jammed every so often the first 50 rounds but has been flawless since. I actually want to upgrade to a proper full-size such as the DR or canik. Both can be customized out the box, in just having trouble trying to decide which. However, word on the street is shadow systems customer service is top notch. So I'm leaning towards the DR
Nice job Trevor!
Love the communication from the top. Shows you are engaged with the customer.
Thinking about getting the XR, or MR elite for beginner competition.
Got a FDE MR920 and love the way it shoots.
Just picked up my second shadow system pistol (DR920P Elite) and WOW. Great product and looking forward to getting the CR and XR.
Just bought the dr today!
I love mine oh man
I'm a glock fan and love the G45. Had one but unfortunately had to sale it. Now looking to replace it and with this new line you have i will more than likely pick up one of your xr920's.
MR 920 would make a great edc for the summer what a Great shooting gun
first firearm ever is the mr920 FS and I'm stoked!
Ordered the MR920 combat for my new edc, can't wait to break it in!
If anyone is wondering whats the difference between the Foundation and Combat version. The foundation version has a plastic optic mount cover, plastic trigger, no magwell, no barrel fluting, and no pistol bag.
All in all you wont miss those things.
I run the mr920 elite and it truly is a great shooter, the only thing that is of concern to me is the plastic magazine release and how it’ll hold up in the long run
getting mine soon!! Shadow systems DR920 FS
Always wondered about the appeal of the “x” versions of CC pistols. IMO, the inverse would be the better path… having a longer slide (better ballistics/site radius), with the shorter grip (for ease of concealment).
With the “X” version, you get a shorter slide (possibly effecting ballistics, and a shorter site radius), with a longer grip (harder to conceal).
Will there be/is there compatibility with the MR grip, and the DR slide?
The variation you’re talking about is our MR920L-a compact grip with a long top end. It’s an employee favorite!
@@ShadowSystemsCorp might have to do that
I own the MR920 Elite and looking for a MR920 combat or foundation. Now the XR920 is on the table. Decisions, decisions.
If the mr920L came out for this series you could have all four guns by switching out the grips and slides with each other
awesome video. do you have 10 round capacity mags? are the glock mags ok to use with the dr920?
But now for the real question. How goes the 22lr pistol?
MR 920L Foundation?
Also, pinky extension for the CR920 10 round mag when? 😁
whats the restock time for the black threaded mr920 barrels?
Are the slides interchangeable
Great video. Sold brutha.
I am debating whether to get a Foundation if I can trade one for my used DR920. (Used as in fired from 24 x. Two shots/ten stovepipes x 2 mags. I nearly cried over the wasted range time.) Before you say something, never had one issue with my Sig or Ruger of the same caliber. Also, stronger sibling suffered the same high quantity of stovepiping. If its a matter of my wrists being too weak, would a Foundation be better?
Are there any plans to release the CR920 as a foundation version?
That’s not currently in the plan, but maybe in the future
@@ShadowSystemsCorp I sell firearms full time at Cabela's and I always point to Shadow Systems as "everything Glock wishes it was". I have two myself and like the CR920, but even at it's cheapest version, it's hard to justify a carry pistol at that price point. I think the CR920 would sell like hotcakes as a foundation series. Base model, just black and optic cut for 5 bills would be good. Oh, and a 22lr version of it.
Yeah they need to get to work on a CR Foundation.
Please oh please produce a MR 920L Foundation version firearm. I don't need all the bells and whistles... I just want the longer slide on a shorter grip with plenty of sight radius for longer shots.
Why no CR in the foundation series?
MR920 FOR THE WIN
PCC please 🙏, also radial or at the least roller delayed blowback
Holy shit that mr920 looks like it shoots flat as hell😧
The camera guy is practicing his stealth skills for the next pocket dump video 😂
He’s elusive! Trevor
Are you going to make A CR920
already do, but its a hot mess.
They make one. See their video on the "Butt Barrel" issue with early releases. Mine is a late release. No issues in first 100 rounds of the 200 round break-in.
I may be mistaken but I thought this was a foundation video
Not mistaken are you going to make A CR920 foundation Series gun
@@Graygoatoutdoors111 Gotcha. Didn't realize you were referring to it under the "foundation" context. I was thrown off by you using the model #. I thought perhaps you were only aware of an early rumored model. Hmmm foundation cr920, could be a smart move.
Thanks for making these happen, will def be picking one up! But also...10mm?! 😁
You’re not even proficient with a 9mm why do you need 10mm
@@SkateAndReview M.Y.O.B. thats why.
@@SkateAndReview Some people go out and touch grass... 10mm isn't needed for you because a grizzly likely won't maul you in your momma's basement.
Yes 10mm!
@@SkateAndReview this tbqh fam. 10mm is kindve a meme and would necessitate a bunch of R&D that would have limited utility outside of "hey we make a big gun for the 10 guys in the Yukon that want a 10 mil and the few hundred guys that like to pretend they want one because of the memes"
Bring the CR Foundation.
Too bad the video doesn’t give us the details and differences between foundation, combat, and elite models. Can’t find that info anywhere other than it’s a less expensive series
Last week’s Tech Tuesday gave more detail about the differences between Foundation Series and other models.
Basically, the Foundation Series has less machine time and some slightly different parts materials in order to bring the price point down.
Foundation Series has the same frame as the rest of our pistols! The slide has less machine time, with pocket cut serrations (instead of directional) in front and rear and no window cuts. Foundation Series comes equipped with our patented multi-footprint optic cut and steel sights, black serrated rear and white dot front. The trigger is polymer and the guide rod is carbon steel. The barrel is not fluted. The pistol comes with two magpul mags and no magwell. Priced at a very competitive $679.
@@ShadowSystemsCorp thank you. I have the DR920 elite. Love it. Hoping for a MR 920L foundation version.
In my opinion you need to stop focusing on bringing new items to market and work on your Quality Control of your existing line as well as your Customer Service. I spoke with the owner of my local shop about my Customer Service experience regarding my CR920 and he informed me that he told their rep that they will no longer order or sell any further Shadow Systems products until their handful of CR920's with the "Butt Barrel" are exchanged. They pulled them off the shelf within a day of you posting your video on the issue and supposedly have had no response from you since their initial contact. I have seen numerous other complaints online of people who have had both QC and CS issues in the past several months.
Could you please email me what shop this was so that I can ensure that they get taken care of Jessica@shadowsystemscorp.com My team does not have a record of any communication with a shop waiting on barrels, and all barrel requests are now being fulfilled same-week. Thanks for letting us know so we can get your shop taken care of!
@@ShadowSystemsCorp Jessica, I have just emailed you as requested regarding the shop in question as well as a detailed description of me recent customer service/warranty experience.
Anyone have problems with particular Ammo with their pistols? 1000 rounds through mine and I’m still having a lot of light primer strikes. Won’t fire Tula Ammo at all. Get about 3-5 light strikes per 50 rd box of Magtech 115gr fmj. Speer lawman 147 grain flat nose no problems, Speer gold dot 124gr jhp no problems, Remington 115gr jhp no problems. I have round firing pin in mine.
Nothing yet. Only 100 rnds break-in, with TulAmmo through my cr920 so far.
Hello. Are your strikes centered? Trevor
@@ShadowSystemsCorp yeah they appear to be centered. I tried some more sterling blazer and tyr Ammo today had some more light strikes. I clean it after every range session just because of the issues. Use CLP or Lucas. PMag mags and Glock factory mag happens with both no matter how many rounds loaded. I want to go to the store and check another gun to see how the firing pin acts. Mine seems “sticky” I’ve also taken out the pin cleaned it etc..
Thanks for the information. A light strike from time to time on hard primers (usually Turkish ammo from what we have seen) is not uncommon. But what you are experiencing is not right. I would really like to have our technical team look at the gun. Can you please reach out to customer service via phone or e-mail? 469-458-6808. Trevor
@@ShadowSystemsCorp yes sir I will give a call. I took it apart today removed spring from pin. There are gouge marks in the firing pin where it meets the frame channel. On the sides of the square part that meets the sear. So either the pin itself or the channel are out of spec? Thanks for all the help! Chris
That sounds like a good video for a future Tech Tuesday: How NOT to shoot yourself with your own gun.
Sell complete slides
Once again requesting a USPSA Carry Optics optimized version of the DR920. If you could somehow increase the weight of the frame such that the gun reaches an unloaded weight of 35+oz (steel frame, licensing Sig's TXG polymer, etc.) , perhaps give the grip a more aggressive texture, maybe give it a G34 length slide, give the trigger adjustable overtravel, and ship with 140mm length magazines, you'd probably take a ton of the gamer gun market share from Sig and CZ.
How about just sucking less
The fact that the gold on my mr920 barrel scratched off, from the FIRST MAGAZINE! Lame.... The coating you guys used sucks....
Where?
The same happened to my DR920 and customer service said it’s normal.
Just think of it as battle scars. You didn’t buy a sub 1k$ gun to be a safe queen
Lol they are only like 100$ cheaper
I Love Mine
I don't know by Shadow Systems is the actual Glock Killer 🤷🤷🤷
whats the restock time for the black threaded mr920 barrels?
