I have the same bike and highly recommend converting to a coil shock, the delta link's progressiveness combined with the suppleness of the coil is unlike anything else
Rumor has it that if Josh magically appears in front of you in the woods, you have to tell him three dad jokes. Otherwise he steals your trail snacks and messes with your fork settings.
Picked up a lightly used offering with push coil in March. e.g. just before the mad rush on bike parts/covid. I had an ibis ripmo af on order. (that order was going to take for ever). No regrets. I love the offering. It fits me perfect. Climbs great and very capable trail bike. Note I have no complaints with chain slap. eagle x01. maybe my derailleur/chain is tighter? I also have an 2018 megatrail (alloy version) that I use for bike parks, but if that ever went away the new Wreckoning looks interesting.
I just gotta say. The feeling of a new Full squish that you got dialed in on a fall ride just can’t be replaced. That feeling is unmatched. Love the bike Evil will always be up there for me on just beautiful bikes that one day I might own.
I landed nose heavy on a jump and smashed the bridge of my nose into my stem 🤦♂️ I look like Quasimodo cuz the swelling. Luckily nothings broken tho so I just have to wait for the swelling to go down. But no riding for me.
I just got a pallet of Evils at the shop, every color but that blue! I'm stoked to test out the Offering in Black Out Drunk! (Though I'll be running the Advent 9 Speed, not a fancy X)
Welcome to the Offering club! Nothing rides like an Evil. So comfortable and intuitive, but you're right. You'll never get rid of the noise. I have to re-grease the headset every month. The dogbones and trunion mounts need greasing a lot too. I think you would be happier with the Push 11-6 coil for that bike. I don't have it, but for your style of riding and what I've heard, its unbeatable with that shock 👍
Evil makes some of the most beautiful bikes! On your hunt for the one bike to rule them all, you should ride/review the Pivot Firebird 29! Absolutely rules the downhills but it's got a DW Link (Dave Weagle who also designed the DELTA Link) and is phenomenal on the climbs (for being a 170/160 bike) even really techy climbs. Love your vids man!
So awesome to see you back on Evil!! I just can’t picture you on anything else. It’s who I saw when I sub’ed years ago. The blue even compliments your logo. Josh 2.0 looks ready!
I've just got an offering and going to order the cascade components link for an extra 5mm of travel and a little more progressive suspension. I also tested it with the dpx2 and 11-6 shock and had to get the coil as it was a much better match.
Throw a coil on it. I've sold and worked on these things for 4 years, and while the air shocks feel totally good, a coil makes the frame run a little less harsh. I have a TTX35 on my Following MB, and it makes it feel like it has 20mm extra travel. (That said, I'm planning on swapping back to an air shock soon because it's different and I like shaking it up.) But yeah: coil shock will be your friend on the Offering. We've done TTX's on most of the coil builds we do, but the stock ElevenSix build feels better IMO.
Fellow evil rider here!!!! Try the Following V3 its is so playful, it makes the trail come to life and it dosent feel like it's only 120mm in the rear. Try it out!!
8:00 I'm still fairly new to the area. Lost Co service was O.K., but I still prefer Fanatik. They have been super helpful at Fanatik, helped me review different tire options and adjust my fork. Every time I've dropped my bike off there, I've gotten it back within a day.
you guys don't even know how lucky you are to have these kind of bike shops to choose from, where i live they don't even know how to seat a tubeless tyre!
@@TheMTBRider96 I know exactly how lucky. I've been in the same boat. I grinded for YEARS to get to this point in my life where I could work remote and ride in some of the best areas in the US.
see if you can demo a Zerode Katipo, I think it might be the money shot bike for you. In my personal opinion, it has the best suspension due to the reduced unsprung mass. Also the bike can quickly be converted from 140-160mm of travel without effecting geometry. But best of all it comes with a belt drive so you never have to think about cleaning or lubricating a chain.
Congrats! I've been on an Offering for a while now and also have a Following MB. Evil's delta link has such a great feel to it. I'm a big fan of overforking these bikes. MY FMB has a 140 up front and the Offering a 160 Lyrik. That's an option, though I did put it back to Low instead of X-low. I agree with you about feel. The Offering feels more like a very capable trail bike than a better pedaling enduro. If you do want more of course the new Wrecker is available and is a BEAST as well as a better climber than the old one. Ok, enough typing. Gotta go take the offering to my local slopestyle park. ;)
Does the bike sound like Voodoo Child Slight return when you ride with the wah wah pedals? I haven't seen anyone put Wah Wah pedals on A Devinci Hendrix yet.😃
Hey Josh, could you recommend any budget ($150 or less) 1X drive trains? (Besides the advent that you talk about) I'm looking for one that has at least 10 gears, and comes with a good rear mech that has a clutch or is very firm, and I want to mount all this to my CO-OP DRT 1.1 Love the content!
I have always wanted a carbon xc bike since I race but I have never ridden a full suspension bike in my 2 years of riding what would be better ht are fs can someone tell me
I dont know about that drivetrain, but my eagle xx1 on my offering is super quiet and the bike is quiet as a whole. Id check your build over again seems like theres too much going on IMO. Also, is your QR closed all the way? 😂
Mine looks just like his, which is to say, there is no more room for the thing to tighten. Perhaps .5 millimeter, but otherwise it's scraping against the metal fork body. That's as tight as it gets.
I was interested in those SFU things, I see some run them on Geometron G1, which already is a quite quiet bike, not much chain slap noise, but that thing will probably make it silent. but I have the clutch on my Box One X-wide turned as firm as it came from the factory which is painfully firm, but I use Archer D1x trail to shift it, so not a problem, but if I were on mechanical shifter I would adjust it down, which can be done. I still have Fox 36, feels quite stiff for me but I am 86kg all kitted up, but I want to eventually get dual crown fork, yes my bike is dual crown approved, it will eliminate the need to align the stem. other things I want to try: Mojo rising Morc 36 seems like an good option, no steerer tube, no steerer tube and crown creaking. asymmetric rims, so wheel stay centred longer, silent fast engaging hub, so so I think Onyx might be it, but Box Stealth looks interesting too. try four piston brakes, but I won't go for shimano, I have several valid reasons. I won't go for dot fluid, so I think Formula is best bang for the buck, all metal too, but Trickstuff is also on the list. I want to try different cassettes that's about it I think, I love how my G1 rides still.
Probably just built the bike up for the video. Or it could be sealant leaking through the sidewalls. Happens on brand new tires sometimes but it seals on its own.
What you were saying about getting more travel, if you upped your shock stroke you would get more travel with the same geo. As your bike I believe has a shock of 185x55, if you divide 140 by 55 you get 2.5455. Multiply that by 60, you would get 152.73, meaning if you upped your shock size to 185x60, you would have 152mm of travel. My maths may be off, and I haven't checked if 185x60mm shocks exist, but you get the idea: upping the shock stroke increases travel. If you feel like it as well a shorter shock in general with the same stroke would slacken the head angle and drop the bb. Be warned, this will likely void warranty. And I may be totally wrong about everything. Feel free to tell me before I but myself a slightly longer stroke shock. Edit: spelln't
That shock doesn’t exist and because the shock is a trunnions mount, the next size up is a 205 mm. The best bet for more travel is the cascade link, it’s only 5mm but beggars can’t be choosers.
@@michaeledwards5241 cheers for the correction - thought so. Knew there was a high chance I would be wrong. But a new link is definitely a more cost effective than buying a whole new shock, and is far less likely to mess with warranty.
