Awesome job! I like that everyone looks like they just finished riding and threw something dry on from the back of their cars to hang out and chat about this bike.... Great review of this bike as well! This is definitely better then the reviews in front of a fire while holding a drink
I completely disagree with the zip tie comment. Personally, I much prefer external cable routing which is so much easier to replace housing when needed.
Having just built up a bike with external routing, I disagree. Well designed internal routing (Ibis,Santa Cruz etc) is easy as you just feed it through and job done, no cable ties and looks so much nicer. Maybe takes 30 seconds longer than external. It also allows for higher tolerance with cable length as any excess is hidden in the frame.
@@SWFlowseeker So I'm just shy of 5'10" and I've always rode Large bikes. You're saying I should go medium? thanks for any advice. You still ride the Evil?
@@bobbybrandnew3277 I would go Med. but if you like a long bike LG would also work. I also normally ride a LG...but with Evil’s I prefer a M Nope...now on Specialized Levo SL 👍🏼
Hi Folks. Thanks for the review. I own a Following MB, and the one qualm I have with it is that the front end wanders a bit when climbing. How would you all compare the Offering's climbing characteristics versus the MB?
Dave Farrell The Offering has a better position for pedaling than the MB. The seat angle does make a difference for sure. I own both bikes, if I had to just have one I would go with Offering based solely on seat angle. My MB is set with 130 fork and Offering is set at 150.
I've loved the idea of this bike, but previous Evils felt super slack in the seat tube, which caused the front end to wander on climbs. Did you guys feel like they remedied the seat tube angle? p.s. That head band. Ballsy move, brah. I dig your style. 🤘😎🤘
Horns High Mountain Biking It’s a very notable difference right when you sit on the bike. It’s a great trail bike, only downside is it’s extra weight compared to some of its competitors.
Jorge Flores I can think of two...yeti sb130 and Ibis Ripmo and SC Hightower and also the Rocky Mountain model is also quite a bit lighter given same specs. Don’t get me wrong I love my Evil...but they are a bit on the heavy side. I also have a Trek Slash 29 that is longer and has more travel and a Fox 36 fork that weight .5 pound less than my Offering.
Hi Corben, sorry we didn't test a 2019 in southwest Utah, but we did test a 2018 Norco Range C2 29 at last year's Marquette Bible, you can find the review here: www.bikemag.com/gear/mountain-bikes/all-mountain-bikes-gear/bible-review-norco-range-c2-29/
Is it a possibility that this bike is agile and playful and rip corners because of its normal head tube angle at 66.6? When or a what point will long, slack and low completely destroy the fun in bikes!
I'm pretty set on this bike, but at 5'8" I'm right between a small and medium frame; any suggestions on sizing based on how you all felt on the large? Thanks
I'm 5'10" and I got the medium. I like the feel of the medium. I have the Following MB in Medium and it feels much smaller than the Medium Offering though I like the size medium for me in both bikes. I think the longer reach on the Offering has something to do with why it feels bigger. I think you may find the Medium just right at 5'8". Bike size is a degree of personal preference though.
The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.
...so basically a wreckoning..? i consider 140, if its in the back, a long travel. In this case its a long travel 29er which they already have- The Wreckoning.
The Offering is far more nimble than the Wreckoning. The Wreckoning doesn't let you pick your own lines, it just runs over everything in its path while keeping you confidently on the bike. The Offering has enough travel to ride some bigger stuff without sacrificing the playfulness and maneuverability.
I hate how some reviewers would call some bikes with 66.6* hta "behind the times" or "too steep". But because it's an evil they're willing to over look it.
SWFlowseeker I don’t necessarily want the wreckoning personally except for some of its down hill capability. I’m putting 150mm travel which hope that helps with some of that.
I don't think you guys understand the different between 51mm and 44mm offset on 29ers, the bike will handle switchbacks much better on a 44mm fork. You are praising outdated geometry when almost all manufacturers and switching to 44mm
Can you explain how it will handle better? the shorter offset fork pushes fork out a bit, how does a longer geometry create better switchback handling?! The offset fork helps in the steep high speed terrain.
Call me a fool, but I think the looks of Evil bikes are too rounded and make it less appealing compared to others. The fact other companies aren't doing the same make me wonder if that's an actual positive or just plain ugly only because they can do it
For as nice as these bikes ride it does piss me off that they have external cable routing, stickers instead of paint for decals, poor QC now that they've changed their factory and that I've had customers' bikes that come with the wrong specs! Not to mention the rumors that they screw over their riders/contract workers. For as expensive as they are and how little margin they have I would expect more... they do ride better than anything else though, if they fixed a few of these issues they would be my favourite company but they just drop the ball on everything other than ride quality. Overall... >:C
“Playful whippy” “ground huggy” Why does every other adjective you use to describe the bikes have to end in Y? It diminishes the authority of your critique and makes it sound like you’re unsure of your description.
What about Canyons routing under the bike that's protected by a bash guard. It makes it super easy to access it without having to feed cable through the frame.
I can only dream of riding one of these beautiful pieces of masterfully crafted machinery. WOW!!

I'm with ya. Never had a lick of trouble or noise with the external routing on my Following.
I’m 5’11 and I bought the Offering in a MEd. I normally ride LG frames. Evil feels great with a MED and 40mm stem.
SWFlowseeker at 6’ I like the look of the reach numbers on the medium, but worry about the VTT length for seated climbing.

I would say I’m at the top of a Med at 5’10-5’11
If I was any taller I would go LG with a short stem.

cool thx.

ground huggy. I haven't heard that one before, but I know what you're talking about.
They need to remove the extra triangle already. The one by the seat tube. But hey I get it stiffness ect..
Heck no. That’s what gives it the “evil look”, and along with the other triangle, it’s makes their logo..
