Harvest is one of my middle names. My mum went ALL OUT with Rainbow Harvest Rose.
I guess I'll be your mum's biggest fan
My mum went safe with Sarah Catherine 😂😂
What do you think of Alfie and Zoe’s little girl’s name - Ottilie Rue Deyes? I think it fits the criteria of romantic heroine. 😍
Love Avalon, Della, Emmylou, Goldie, Isabeau, Magnolia, Opal, Solveig, Tiggy, and Winifred! Stunning list! I actually have Samara Violet on my list.
"The Bucket residence, the Lady of the House speaking!" I ADORE Patricia Rutledge as Hyacinth on Keeping up Appearances. The public broadcasting station here in the US used to show it and it's still HILARIOUS. Hyacinth's sisters also have flower names: Violet, Rose, and Daisy, in descending order of social class, lol.
I grew up watching that show too! Every time I was at my grandma's house.
I love Love Aurelia or Cressida with the nickname Goldie or even Marigold with the Short form Goldie. I love Love Winifred! Either with the Short form Win or Freddie! Avalon, Opal, Delaney, Ayla( although I would say it the Turkish way , Isla) , Avani, Isabeau, Theodora( although lately I have been really loving Dorothea), Vega, Cosette,Quinlan , Echo Elowen and Elysien , Sequoia and Olympia are all beautiful and would work quite well for a strong , romantic modern little princess warrior.I would like to add Nesrin to the list.I would perhaps use Wildflower as opposed to Wilde as a brave and unexpected middle name , with an obvious nature related theme.
When I figured out all the sisters had flower names my.mind was BLOWN as a child. I also remember The Darling Buds of May. One of the sisters was "Primrose Violet Anemone Iris Magnolia Narcissa". 😂
I always love your videos, they’re so peaceful and always put me in a good mood :)
I don’t even want children but found your videos when looking for a name for my puppy and was instantly hooked!
Can’t wait for more podcasts - you and Naomi have become my driving buddies!
Loads of love from another girlie who got out of Swindon town!!
These names are so gorgeous I don't even know what to do. I need to start buying plants so I can use them. Solveig, that's stunning! And Sequoia, Fable, Locket, Oath is amazing, I think it works! Dovey is so cute! Solstice is on my list too. And yes to Schitt's Creek! Watching for the 2nd time, introducing it to my mother who's in her 60's and loves it
As an Australian I could never pick Oath 😂
Also Avalon after the Avalon Covid Cluster that ruined Christmas! Same reason there won’t be many Ruby’s born in Sydney in the next few years!
Strewth could be an alternative 😂.
So many names would be awkward in Oz. If I hear Barnaby ONE MORE TIME. Oh man.
I love your giggle after defining “Quinlan”! That’s my sister’s name but she prefers to go by Quin. She’s 14. Glad the name is gaining some recognition.
I knew a Myrtle as “Aunty Myrtle” growing up. She was a grandma but babysat for us (not actually related to us). She’s close to 100 now. So I always associate that name with a super sweet, kind older lady 💕
SJ you look so lovely this week love this purple compliments your complexion perfectly xo
I think this is my favorite list yet! SO many pretty names that I love but have never thought/heard of! Especially obsessed with Boheme and Cosette
Both of those are middle names on my list... Isley Bohme and Cora Cosette (Coco).
What a beautiful list! Some of them were a bit too out there for me but the general atmosphere of all the names was amazing ✨
Oh this list made me so happy!!! I’ve had a name picked out before I was even pregnant and always wondered if it was “SJ approved”. 🤣 Made me even more excited for our Delainey Wren’s arrival in December 💕🥰😍
Opal is one of my favorites!! Some names I would add: Avielle, Cherith, Lavinia, Augusta, Sylvana/Sylvestra, and Orianna
When I was little, my mother had a beautiful friend from Italy named Sylvana. I've always loved it because of her!
I like Lavinia. There is a beautiful actress named Lavinia vlasak
Cherith sounds like cherish said with a lisp! Orianna is pretty too!
love this list! please do more similar xx
The majority of these are already on our list !! Love this genre 💗plenty of strong and unusual but wearable choices for a little fierce lady 😍
Juniper, Delaney, Elowen and Olympia are my faves! Juniper Layne is my top combo. Could never do Oath, I’m Australian and I instantly thought f#@%ing oath 🤭
Those are my favorites too lol except I dont think I can use Delaneg bc I actually briefly dated a guy with the name
Love this list, this is one the best naming lists I've ever seen. Gave me some new ideas. Elysienne is beautiful, and love the connection behind it. So special that name was chosen by a subscriber
Echo, Oath, Fable, Vega, Dovey & Hero ❤❤❤
Also love: Avalon, Skylar, Bravery, Solstice, Elysienne, Olympia, Harvest, Sequoia, Locket, Dusty, Juniper, Magnolia & Elowen.
Also Valli (don't normally like alternative spellings at all, and I love Valley, but when I heard the other nature meaning that made it cool!)
Amazing list as usual! Sooo many thoughtful and striking offerings. Wild is top of my list for a boy. Not sure if we’ll choose the e ending, or keep it simple
I'm done naming babies but now I want to get a highland cow and name her Solveig! 😄❤ Farrah is happy in Arabic and in never considered it but I love it!!! I have an Ava, Avalon is lush; I did go with Albion for my youngest.
Great list SJ!
Such a good list, quite a mix of styles!
I feel like Dovey is the more sophisticated version of names like Kitty. Also-love the name. Charlotte Magnolia if anyone wants to use it! Husband’s not a fan but I adore it!
Omg this list is to die for 🤩 I love Avalon, Farrah, Della, Fable, and Harvest are my favorites. Favorite combo is Avalon Fable!
Love this list, quite a few names on here that I have on my list for our future babies ☺️ 💖
Sooo many beautiful names!!
I had a great-aunt Valley on my Pappy’s side of the family…I love Eulalie, Maple, Gladiola, Thomasina, Davina, LaHoma, LaMorna, Elleby, Dreama, and my niece’s stepdaughter is named Mikindy. I love it!
I love Avalon! And Sequoia for a girl is just brilliant. Wonderful list of many names I never even thought of. Wow, amazing job.
Hey SJ ~ I saw your consult with the French Couple that chose the name Elysienne. I thought they would pick that name for sure as the gentleman’s face lit up when you said it and looked directly at his wife. So happy for them. You are a gift girlfriend. 🇨🇦
Thought I'd add another Gabrielle variation for you. Almost 30 years ago, my close friend named her daughter Sabrielle. I've never met anyone else with the name. Also, I've mentioned the name Dimity on this forum before. People might not like it because of associating "dim" with "stupid" but it actually has several meanings, a checked cotton fabric used a lot for dresses in Victorian times (so similar to the name Calico) and an old English dialect word for dusk or twilight.
I’ve been following your channel since struggling to name our first girl. I’m the “wacko” one, and my husband the traditionalist as well. After having a soft spot for Salem for most of my pregnancy, a coworker of mine used the name for her daughter born just a couple weeks before ours. We ended up with our baby girl, Freyja James. Recently we found out baby number two (and maybe three- I sense twins) is on the way! We’ve decided not to determine the sex before delivery. Very exciting, but twice the baby name pressure! My husband is happy to revert back to baby name Salem, but with all these new options, I can’t handle the baby name envy! Loving Della, Sequoia, and Samara (which was on baby #1 list as well and has sentimental meaning to us as particularly night owlish lovebirds). Our girl names are being chosen to pair with middle name Anlya, pronounced an-lee-uh, in honor of my favorite dear cousin who tragically passed away. I’ve never seen the name Anlya on your channel and I think it’s right up your alley so I wanted to throw it a mention. Thanks for all your work, and can’t wait for next weeks boy list to match!
In the US, the name Salem could raise eyebrows because it is immediately associated with our infamous witch trials. Also, Stephen King uses it in horror stories as a short form for the town of Jerusalem's Lot, aka 'Salem's Lot. So it winds up being a name with associations for both witches and vampires. It does sound beautiful with Anlya. Everything sounds beautiful with Anlya! Love that name.
@@sleepycalico Also, Salem the cat in Sabrina the Teenage Witch! 😅
@@robynfromcanada OH! That was such a perfect name for her cat.
@@sleepycalico indeed, it was! 😄
Elysienne is incredibly beautiful! Ive never heard it before and is definitely a new favorite. I am so excited my daughters name (Samara) is on one of your lists! I like the arabic meaning, but we chose it moreso off of the Hebrew meaning. But it can also be considered a place name (locations in Russia) and there is a house in the US designed by architect frank lloyd wright called the Samara house or a nature name since samara is the name of the seeds of certain trees
What's the Hebrew meaning?

I named my daughter Elowyn after watching one of your videos!💕
I've loved the names Gloria and Joy for so long, and I also love Theodora! I have been loving the names Quilla and Emmeline recently as well, I think they are so beautiful!
A character on the show Lost Girl was named Isabeau! She shortened it to Bo. Love the name Theodora! I’d use either the nickname Theo or Thea. I would go with the combo of Theadora Malachi. Also really love Fable. Chantara is cool too! I LOVED Keeping Up Appearances! (It was broadcast on a US channel as reruns that I watched when I was a teen.)
Valli teminds me of that line from Jersey Boys 😂 very cool!
Quinleigh came to mind when you said Quinlan
Aww so happy to see EmmyLou on your list! My friend who's pregnant is going to name the baby Emilia Louise if it's a girl and call her EmmyLou :) So cute!
Ahh I think this is my favourite list so far! Every single name was gorgeous:)
Omg I love the pairing of Farrah Boheme, Magnolia Layne and Isabeau ( spelled with a Y at the beginning) and Solstice as the middle spot
Such beautiful pairings
For some reason when you said Oath as a middle name, the combo Avery Oath popped into my head. It sounds so pretty to me.
A lot of names on all the lists you make aren't really useable here in Germany but I'm still loving your videos because i always think you never know what happens maybe one day i wake up in new york or Brisbane. Who knows? But once in a while there is a name that is really amazing for my list here. (like your daughters name Evelina - only the first e sounds differnt but very beautiful to the way you say it) Today the name Bianca / Bianka totally hit me. It's soo cute!!
Opal has ALWAYS been my absolute favorite for a little girl and always felt it never got the attention it deserved…maybe that’s a good thing for me ;)
I love Opal too! So pretty yet cute 🥰
This came just in time because im really struggling to name characters in a novel im writing! Everyone in the comments always has lovely and creative names too XXX
I love Adelpha with the nickname Delphie. Loved this list x
I adore Isabeau, blame the film Ladyhawke :-)
Gloria and Elowen are delightful.
I have been fond of the name Bobbie ever since reading The Railway Children when I was young, the character of Bobbie was a nickname for a Roberta which is also quite cool!
Theodora and Magnolia are both fabulous!
Beautiful names sj. I loved Myrtle layne Avalon Opal.Theodora fable.❤️.
I know a Qwendlyn, and love this name. Your Quinlan reminded me. Such great nicknames. Quinn, Wendy, Lyn, Winnie.
I have a little Gloria in my family who gets called Glo 💕
Love you headboard - where’s it from?
I have a friend named Teadora (the Romanian form of Theodora I believe) and I love it! Her nickname is Tea (Tay-ah) and it makes me smile every time I say it.
Just wanted to say thank you for creating such a welcoming space. I posted on a baby name forum that I was thinking about naming my daughter possibly Iris Priscilla Jubilee and got EATEN alive for name appropriation. 😭
I’m sorry to hear that! Can I ask what you mean by name appropriation?
@@anyadeising1564 I mentioned that the names meant a lot to me because of the meanings are seen in the old Testament... Iris- rainbow Jubilee-the year of Jubilee and I was told I was appropriating other people's culture, mostly Jewish culture. I tried to explain that these things were in the Bible (my culture) as well but that was a BIG mistake and attacks ensued. The hard fact is that the majority of names are from some type of culture. Where do we draw the line?
It's a beautiful name!
It's a gorgeous name! Definitely not any appropriation in my eyes.
Fiadh (pronounce like Fia) is an Irish name which translates to wild
That is a nice name.
Absolutely Love Hyacinth and Magnolia. My neice was born last month and she was called Hyacinth named after the girl on Bridgeton.
I knew a lady named Avalon Hapenny at one time. I always thought it was a beautiful name. When I was a little girl, it reminded me of an older English lady who had a magical and mythical garden. I always thought it would somehow make a great book with an unsuspecting super hero. Ha. I also knew two ladies whose names were Vallie and Nova. My daughter has a friend whose sister’s name is Sophie Dove. 😀
I'm still so happy that as an avid watcher/listener for years you chose my favourite ever name for your kitten 😁😁💛
I'd never really thought about Devin before, but I really like it for a boy!
12:27 I've loved the name Isabeau ever since I heard it in the film 'Ladyhawke'.
You have 2 of my cats names on here! I have a Myrtle and a Gloria! There are some really gorgeous names on this list, I will definitely be coming back to this list!
Love seeing my name Gloria on the list ❤️
I looked up the name sequoia and it’s originally a Cherokee name meaning sparrow! How cute!
I come here every Monday usually with another lift of favourite names. I’ve fallen in love with the girl names Catiri pronounced cah-tear-ree and Remanie pronounced Rem-ah-nie. Boy name- Prince Aziah
I have a student named Prince
Love those girl names, I've never heard them before!
I’d love to see my oldest daughter’s name on one of these lists: Sarina ❤️
My daughter's name is India. There was an ' India' in the old movie 'Gone with the wind' set during the American civil war.1865
My favorites from this list are Delaney, Isabeau (I prefer it with a y instead of an i) Elysienne, Everdeen and Solveig. I would add Amadora (gift of love) to this list
I’ve always loved the name Lyra (pronounced Lie-ra). Pretty sure I got the name when searching for fantasy character names and modified the original slightly
Same. I found it in the star names when I was a little girl and thought it was so pretty with a soft Y like lyric
I had a Quinnlyn in my class a few years back and loved it…Kiki is my nickname because my niece could not Katie when she was little and it just stuck.
My dog is Opal, I’ve always been a teensy bit bummed I didn’t save her name for a baby. Some more that I love that I think would fit on this list are Calpurnia and Joyous! My great grandmother was Native American and her name was Joyous Sarah and I can’t wait to use it for my little girl as well.
Calpurnia is lovely
I love the name Elowyn with Winnie or Ellie as a nickname. I like to pronounce it as Ell-oh-win
Fable is my favourite name at the moment ❤️ I think you put it on another name list and I fell in love!
fable has been my top fav forever as well!!! always paranoid of the popularity going up but as of right now its still unranked in the U.S. charts
@@samcox6592 don’t worry if it becomes popular where you live, if you love the name it’ll always be special to you!
I like it spelled Faebelle, like a pretty fairy, too!!! 🧚
Winifred was my grandmother's name.
She went by Winnie and really suited it, I really love it and think it's beautiful, but maybe that's just because she was and I adored her (still do), I dunno.
Beautiful list though ❤
Indra and Della are my favorites. I don't know why but my first thought to go with Indra is Davy. Indra Davy sounds pretty. I never imagined Davy for a girl's middle name but it has a sweet meaning. I like Della Layne together.
My name is Genevieve and I’m always so pleased that my mum chose it, it’s not often people like their own name lol
Lovely names!
Ayla is pronounced the same as Isla. It’s a popular Turkish name. “ay” (pronounced “eye”) means moon.
It can also be pronounced A-la.
Though to be fair, I do Believe that this particular pronunciation is from around 1986 when Clan of the Cave Bear came out. Daryl Hannah plays Ayla (A-la), which is supposed to be a short form of a longer name that is never given. I managed to find some old interview with the author of the book on some web page and she mentions the name never really had meaning. She just made female names two syllables and end with a vowel and make names one syllable and end with a consonant.
I like the way both sound but knowing that Ayla is supposed to be pronounced as eye-la I would never use it because it would always get misspelled as Isla. As someone named Leah, it’s always being pronounced as lay-ah (which is the original Hebrew pronunciation), I couldn’t do that to my kid. Shame because I love the way it looks and the meaning…maybe as a middle name
Love Avalon, Elowen, Bobby and Juniper ❤️
I really liked the name Avalon for a while but also liked any name that had layne, laine, lane in. Used my creative skills and got Avalaine
Beautiful!
Juniper, Skylar and Wilde are on my list ✨
I have two Daughters, Aliza and Amina. I just adore their names. Avalon was also at the top of my list for my first daughter. 💕😊
One day I thought of Solstice as a name and my boyfriend and mom tell me I’m doing too much🤣 I’m taking a screen shot of this right now! I have no children as of yet or anything I just love baby names.
You just shared one of my names! My grandmother is Gloria. We shared the same initials until I got married so I’m attached to her name. My grandfather called her Glo 😍
I can't remember exactly which gender he was suggesting it for but Sequoia reminds me of the Friends episode where Ross and Rachel are coming up for the baby that would become Emma, as a joke Ross rattles off a whole list (I actually think it was for boys but I could be wrong) of names he'd be ok with Rachel naming the baby if he left it up to her. The last name on the list is Sequoia bu after Rachel says it and Ross realises she's actually considering it he vetoed it. I have to say as much as Sequoia Geller-Green has a certain ring to it, it just doesn't go with the names of Jack and Judy Geller's other grandchildren (Ben, Jack and Erica)
my surname is Quinlan and always loved it! love these names
My little girl (5 weeks old) is called Elowen. It's a Cornish name not Welsh, though :-)
Out of interest, how do you pronounce Elowen for your daughter? It is one if our top names but I'm torn on whether to pronounce it like SJ did (the traditional Cornish way) or with the emphasis on the first syllable instead. My husband can't get the Cornish pronunciation into his head and it's putting him off but I love both ways.
@@SophiePickles my baby girl is also elowen and we put an emphasis on The beginning of the name (eh-low-en)
@@SophiePickles I'm Cornish but my husband is not. My family pronounce it the traditional Cornish way (El-owen), his Eh-low-en, but my husband and I mostly call her Wenna!
I knew an older lady name Bobbie. I've been thinking of Valley lately. I like Vanna, Vanessa, Valerie.. but Valley seems like a good modern alternative.
Wow we think alike!! Of all names my hubby has suggested for girls this pregnancy, one of few is Valerie. I said.. eh it's ok but not "different" enough like our other kid's names as well. SO valley has been in the back of my head as an alternative!! So cute. I say GO FOR IT. 👏🏻😊
My favourite pairings from this list would be;
Juniper Boheme
Dusty Isabeau
Delaney Fable
Beautiful list!!
Love Avalon 😍
My favorite pairing from this list would be Skylar Magnolia! If we had had a third girl, I think I probably would have pushed to get Magnolia as the middle name, and Skylar was our list. I also love Juniper and Sequoia. I have a great aunt Gloria, I always thought her name was beautiful! And I know someone who has a daughter named Ayla Fern.
I love the tv show keeping up apprences with Hycinth bucket. id watch it with my grandparents
i love cosette - could have cosy as a nickname!
Hi SJ, could you make another double barrel names list? Like John-Luke & Annabelle, but with cuter names? ( lol no shade on any John Luke's out there!! I still love the name!!)
I love Vali/Valley as a nickname for Valentina
Opal is my daughter’s middle name!
I’ve always loved Gloria, and can’t figure out why it isn’t more popular!
I added Elysienne to my list after watching this video!
I was unsure on Atlas but then I did some thinking and now actually really like it as Atlas-Rose with Oath as a middle name, and now Atlas-Rose Oath is on my list and I am no where near having a baby myself XD
I think I quite like Isabaeu too, I like Isabelle
Ayla Isabeu (that could work)
My angel baby is named Bobby! We never got to find out if baby was a boy or girl but we fell in love with the name Bobby as soon as we heard it 👼🏻 ❤️ although if it was to have been a girl we would have used the spelling Bobbie instead ❤️
Hi SJ! I was wondering if you had any name recommendations that are desert themed? x
Mirage, Oasis would be pretty.
Always loved Bobby for a girl since the eighties and ‘General Hospital’ here in the States.
Can you do unique names that like sound like words? For example Charisma or Karisma
Rheddyn is a name I found in my Ancestry, from the 16th century. It's Welsh for fern, or ferny area. For a girl, and Red for short *swoon*
My favourite is Indra. Also like Della and Solveig
