It wasn't too abnormal for people to use bypassed decals of, uhm, adult anime, and plaster it across the entire game, games like this were mostly played by people under 10.
QUICK LITTLE NOTE: The reason why the roblox forums were discontinued in the end of 2017 was due to a quackity raid a few weeks before, it basically broke the forums and at one point(if i recall correctly) u could not post in the forums at all due to how big in scale the raid was. @@GoldenPurpllewhat? I have no issue finding the older demographic on Roblox. Games like jailbreak take some skill (or just basic intelligence) that small kids lack. This means that if you play with the more top of the player base, they will generally be older. Maybe just play mic up
I’ve recently quit and yes I agree the old days were so much better. It was fun when you could find different games and the popular tab actually moved around. Nowadays it's like the same stuff sits on top and is slowly swapped out for another hyper-monetized grindfest of a game. There's little incentive to play outside the select few games you get comfortable with and the search and recommended don't help either. It's almost like its encouraged to squeeze every nickel & dime out of people like we're solely customers and not players. I'm not surprised since the removal of guests and tix was only because there wasn't money to be made there. 🗿 I won't deny there are good games but unless the creator knows a guy or has the money to buy ads they rarely get the recognition they deserve or a chance to even be on the front page and it's not like people wanna get outta their comfort zone to track down games that aren't spoon fed to them. Even despite the red flags I continued to stick around because I enjoyed seeing these different games people created and the ease of access Roblox gave. But somehow my last straw was the decreasing performance and lack of options for my avatar because it was a different shade of brown. Not to mention the mods warning people over little things while ignoring child monsters and blatant copyright infringement. It all boils down to corporate greed and their increasing disregard for the community. They've already shown us that they only see us as numbers and profits. Plus when’s the last time anyones seen staff or large devs being friendly publicly with the community outside of anything that's for good press or a one-sided announcement now one asked for? Like ugh. The concept was amazing and gave so many people the tools to create but of course, the big corporation always turns things into a big stinky doodoo. And yes I am a hater.
The amount of scammers and predators on Roblox are crazy. One or two years ago, my younger sister called a close friend over to hang out and they were playing Roblox, specifically the popular game played by children called Adopt Me. My sister and her guy friend found a user on the game who told them they’d give them a bundle of all the rarest pets in Adopt Me, but they needed an email address first. My sister and her friend gave the stranger my mom’s email address and they started somehow texting/emailing each other on a weird dupe of the email app. My sister and her friend told the user they were 20 years old, when they were still young. Long story short, the user ended up hacking and taking my sister’s account and even stealing money and purchasing random items using my mom’s credit card. Luckily, the issue is now solved. Astagfirullah, I am praying for this generation to get better. The sad part is that I started Roblox because of the brain rot channel, Lankybox. That was a long time ago and I barely play nowadays.
This is such a sad topic, I grew up playing on Roblox and I’m so glad this has never happened to me mainly because the game was much smaller back then but I’m so scared for this generation and they might go through this and I’m so sorry for the victims

as a roblox enthusiast myself, i actually blame alot of roblox for all these awful games/people. they need better moderation. of course the people are a part of the problem but roblox and its mods are too.
That is why Rec Room is better than Roblox. You can’t change my mind. There’s epic moderation, good recommended rooms for any player, and you can block or mute people very easily.
i was the first one to email roblox about the predators because the makers of the game hada avoiding (pervasive method) to avoid being handed reports in general.
Child endangerment is very rare to have on Roblox but it happens sometimes if it happens just report them but just remember some people in Roblox won’t care about the rules they will do it anyway they will try to prey on children
I don’t think Roblox is that bad you just avoid them. If you find one you can leave. There are also lots of things that you can’t say. The chat filter doesn’t even allow you to talk normally sometimes. But it’s really just the way you look at it.

Easy way to spot predators is to look at the username. Predators use the following keywords in their name:BWC,BBC,czm, etc. so yeah look out for said keywords and youll be fine.
Semi-retired player here, and honestly sometimes it’s completely unavoidable. There was at one point in time an exploit on Roblox where just by viewing a message from a scammer, not replying in any way or clicking any link, would give your security cookie to them. No idea how it worked, but I imagine scams will get crazier than that just a few short years from now.
I've seen bad things and good things and met some amazing people but also the worst people ever the moderation has been crappy ever since roblox was made the only thing I want is for it to be the same as it was 10 years ago
as a veteran roblox player (started playing it at 7-8 and I'm now 20) it really isn't surprising that the rabbit hole of roblox related ridiculous and inappropriate shit goes this deep. its always been like this, just with varying levels of filtering and moderation through the years. with roblox recently adding in voice chat, 17+ features and games, and most recently (literally this last week) adding face tracking capabilities so you can use your camera vrchat style, it'll only get worse. It seems like they're really wanting to gain and keep the teen-young adult audience like myself that plays for nostalgia and have been playing since they were kids without having to lose their biggest cash cow: actual kids under 16. Whatever they do do keep these groups separate will never ever work, and their existence in the first place is more risk than I think its worth.

I have been playing Roblox since 2015, and I joined in August of 2015. When I joined into a voice chat sever, there was grown men flirting with minors. To be honest, I feel like Roblox made a horrible mistake when they added voice chat. I got falsely banned "for bullying and harrassment" when i wasnt even talking i played music the whole time but im glad got banned ive heard some horrible shit voice chat and i dont wanna go back

This really hit hard. As a person who has a younger sister who has experienced this, it hurts. My younger sister was on Roblox and she is 8 and she was playing with someone. A girl. I wanted to play with her because I was bored and i wanted to spend time with her since I would be moving out soon in a few years so I asked her and she said she was busy and was playing with someone so I was like “okay” and I didn’t think much of it but that was when I noticed she was always with that one girl. The one she was playing with. At first I thought maybe she just really likes playing with that girl and I thought she was about her age . But then one day I joined her in a game and I asked my sister how to do something in the game because I don’t play it as much as her so she told me and that girl came up to me and asked my sister “who’s this?” And I said I was her sister and she was like “ew” and I was offended so we had an argument because i was in a bad mood at that time, after that my sister needed to go to the bathroom so she went and it was only me and her in the game so I asked her how old she was and she said she was 16. 16… FRICKING 16. 8 YEARS OLDER THAN MY SISTER SHES HALF THAT GIRLS AGE. Then after she said she mistyped and was meant to say 9. So I was annoyed because I knew she was lying. Right after my sister came out of the bathroom I told her to unfriend that girl and she was confused because I hadn’t told her anything so she was saying “No, she’s my friend!” Then I asked her to give me her phone ( don’t ask why she has a phone at 8 😭 ) so I had it and then I looked at her roblox chat, when I did I saw that “16 year old girl’s” chat with my sister and I saw her asking about her.. she was asking “How old are you?” “Where do you live?” “Wanna be friends?” I was absolutely disgusted. Now, my sister obviously hasn’t had the “online stranger” talk so she didn’t know and she’s really young so I don’t blame her. Luckily she didn’t give our address, she said what country we lived in but didn’t give the address. After this, I exposed that girl. I told my brother too because my sister didn’t want to unfriend her. I have an older brother so I told him because he’s really mature. After I did he told her not to be friends with her and was disgusted too. After all of this she unfriended her. But after I saw her username so I clicked on it. Turns out she’s lesbian.. now I’m not homophobic but an older girl who is a lesbian hanging out with a 8 year old… is quite concerning and apparently she was trying to force her be lesbian. I don’t know if she liked her but it is disturbing.
My sister is also 8 and we caught her having a “girlfriend” and apparently 2 boyfriends on Roblox. She unfriended them before we even found out since they apparently had an argument so we had no idea who they were or how old but she did admit to it and she was banned from playing roblox again. I try to keep an eye on her and she’s not allowed to be on a device unless someone is near her since she often watches stuff she shouldn’t. It’s very scary to think about they people who would try to talk to younger people and influence them in terrible ways. Your sister shouldn’t have a phone at her age, I hope that you and your parents will keep an eye on her because you might think “she’s young, she won’t do anything!” But the internet is not a safe place for kids and they dan be influenced so easily that it’s actually scary. I hope you both stay safe

these are exactly why i quitted roblox. There were so many toxic people, and gross people. Its really sad that what started out as an innocent game, ended up being such an un-wholesome community. Man I love this reporting, I only wish that bigger news outlets could do the exact same kind of research and coverage on Roblox, but the best we can get is moderators whistle blowing to Bloomberg that there isn’t enough diversity in the staff as if that’s what’s most wrong with Roblox as a whole.
Spam bots actually used to spam advertisements in a lot of games, and it was impossible for even me and my specific taste in games to avoid them. Thankfully their appearance practically ceased existence inside of games, now only occassionally appearing in groups and catalog items.

Ruben Sim was amongst the only UA-camrs who truly cared about the future of Roblox as a platform for young children and adults to coexist without the latter creating trouble for the former. But look what they did, they sued the guy who wanted to do good. It actually sickens me that mass shooting / terrorism games exist on any site in general, no matter if it's a site for children or adults. The reason that it has ever gotten this bad is because contrary to what you said; they are not using the optimal moderation techniques. They are cutting costs on moderation to save money and turn a bigger profit at the expense of their players' safety. It is frankly inadequate, and will continue to harm many, many children unless the government comes down on Roblox.
The fact is, Roblox is a great platform with really fun games but because of the community it gets so much hate and is called a game for pedophiles and children, when really, it isn’t even hard to avoid them. You can do the obvious, block them, close chat, ignore them, or just play in a private server.

I’d also like to point out a serious problem on the game “pls donate”. The game itself is amazing, and the developer is very charitable, putting hundreds of millions back into the game by donating to other users. I’ve noticed an influx of spam bots, who would claim a stand and start either posting messages in the chat trying to get users do donate to them, or completely spamming the chat with advertisements. Some bots impersonate famous UA-camrs and earning thousands of Robux on it. Some even have a delay to when they post a message to make it seem like they are real people. It’s also quite easy to expose a bot when you try saying “bot” or “scam/scammer”. It’s sad to see a game as incredible as this to be polluted by heartless scammers trying to take advantage of children.
I've been on Roblox since 2006. It's insane how I never managed to run into a single person like that. But I guess preds make up less than a minority of the community. Besides that, the production quality of your videos is always so immersive. I don't know how you do it, but it is phenomenal. I can't wait to see what you cover next!

for people who thinks this is real: its not. you get banned for uploading an image or any development product but roblox doesnt link the item, instead it just puts the name of the item in the ban message and people think they got banned for saying hi while its something really bad.

QUICK LITTLE NOTE: The reason why the roblox forums were discontinued in the end of 2017 was due to a quackity raid a few weeks before, it basically broke the forums and at one point(if i recall correctly) u could not post in the forums at all due to how big in scale the raid was.

I’ve recently quit and yes I agree the old days were so much better. It was fun when you could find different games and the popular tab actually moved around. Nowadays it's like the same stuff sits on top and is slowly swapped out for another hyper-monetized grindfest of a game. There's little incentive to play outside the select few games you get comfortable with and the search and recommended don't help either. It's almost like its encouraged to squeeze every nickel & dime out of people like we're solely customers and not players. I'm not surprised since the removal of guests and tix was only because there wasn't money to be made there. 🗿
I won't deny there are good games but unless the creator knows a guy or has the money to buy ads they rarely get the recognition they deserve or a chance to even be on the front page and it's not like people wanna get outta their comfort zone to track down games that aren't spoon fed to them.
Even despite the red flags I continued to stick around because I enjoyed seeing these different games people created and the ease of access Roblox gave. But somehow my last straw was the decreasing performance and lack of options for my avatar because it was a different shade of brown. Not to mention the mods warning people over little things while ignoring child monsters and blatant copyright infringement.
It all boils down to corporate greed and their increasing disregard for the community. They've already shown us that they only see us as numbers and profits. Plus when’s the last time anyones seen staff or large devs being friendly publicly with the community outside of anything that's for good press or a one-sided announcement now one asked for? Like ugh. The concept was amazing and gave so many people the tools to create but of course, the big corporation always turns things into a big stinky doodoo.

The amount of scammers and predators on Roblox are crazy. One or two years ago, my younger sister called a close friend over to hang out and they were playing Roblox, specifically the popular game played by children called Adopt Me. My sister and her guy friend found a user on the game who told them they’d give them a bundle of all the rarest pets in Adopt Me, but they needed an email address first. My sister and her friend gave the stranger my mom’s email address and they started somehow texting/emailing each other on a weird dupe of the email app. My sister and her friend told the user they were 20 years old, when they were still young. Long story short, the user ended up hacking and taking my sister’s account and even stealing money and purchasing random items using my mom’s credit card. Luckily, the issue is now solved. Astagfirullah, I am praying for this generation to get better. The sad part is that I started Roblox because of the brain rot channel, Lankybox. That was a long time ago and I barely play nowadays.
This is such a sad topic, I grew up playing on Roblox and I’m so glad this has never happened to me mainly because the game was much smaller back then but I’m so scared for this generation and they might go through this and I’m so sorry for the victims

Easy way to spot predators is to look at the username. Predators use the following keywords in their name:BWC,BBC,czm, etc. so yeah look out for said keywords and youll be fine.
I am a retired player and I did have my share of weird encounters but I'm glad I wasn't dumb enough to fall for anything suspicious.
Semi-retired player here, and honestly sometimes it’s completely unavoidable. There was at one point in time an exploit on Roblox where just by viewing a message from a scammer, not replying in any way or clicking any link, would give your security cookie to them. No idea how it worked, but I imagine scams will get crazier than that just a few short years from now.
As a player since 2014, I've never seen anything strange on the platform, but definitley there is terrible moderation.
I've seen bad things and good things and met some amazing people but also the worst people ever the moderation has been crappy ever since roblox was made the only thing I want is for it to be the same as it was 10 years ago

as a veteran roblox player (started playing it at 7-8 and I'm now 20) it really isn't surprising that the rabbit hole of roblox related ridiculous and inappropriate shit goes this deep. its always been like this, just with varying levels of filtering and moderation through the years. with roblox recently adding in voice chat, 17+ features and games, and most recently (literally this last week) adding face tracking capabilities so you can use your camera vrchat style, it'll only get worse.
It seems like they're really wanting to gain and keep the teen-young adult audience like myself that plays for nostalgia and have been playing since they were kids without having to lose their biggest cash cow: actual kids under 16. Whatever they do do keep these groups separate will never ever work, and their existence in the first place is more risk than I think its worth.

The one she was playing with. At first I thought maybe she just really likes playing with that girl and I thought she was about her age . But then one day I joined her in a game and I asked my sister how to do something in the game because I don’t play it as much as her so she told me and that girl came up to me and asked my sister “who’s this?” And I said I was her sister and she was like “ew” and I was offended so we had an argument because i was in a bad mood at that time, after that my sister needed to go to the bathroom so she went and it was only me and her in the game so I asked her how old she was and she said she was 16. 16… FRICKING 16. 8 YEARS OLDER THAN MY SISTER SHES HALF THAT GIRLS AGE.
Then after she said she mistyped and was meant to say 9. So I was annoyed because I knew she was lying. Right after my sister came out of the bathroom I told her to unfriend that girl and she was confused because I hadn’t told her anything so she was saying “No, she’s my friend!” Then I asked her to give me her phone ( don’t ask why she has a phone at 8 😭 ) so I had it and then I looked at her roblox chat, when I did I saw that “16 year old girl’s” chat with my sister and I saw her asking about her.. she was asking “How old are you?” “Where do you live?” “Wanna be friends?” I was absolutely disgusted. Now, my sister obviously hasn’t had the “online stranger” talk so she didn’t know and she’s really young so I don’t blame her. Luckily she didn’t give our address, she said what country we lived in but didn’t give the address. After this, I exposed that girl. I told my brother too because my sister didn’t want to unfriend her. I have an older brother so I told him because he’s really mature. After I did he told her not to be friends with her and was disgusted too. After all of this she unfriended her. But after I saw her username so I clicked on it. Turns out she’s lesbian.. now I’m not homophobic but an older girl who is a lesbian hanging out with a 8 year old… is quite concerning and apparently she was trying to force her be lesbian. I don’t know if she liked her but it is disturbing.

I try to keep an eye on her and she’s not allowed to be on a device unless someone is near her since she often watches stuff she shouldn’t. It’s very scary to think about they people who would try to talk to younger people and influence them in terrible ways. Your sister shouldn’t have a phone at her age, I hope that you and your parents will keep an eye on her because you might think “she’s young, she won’t do anything!” But the internet is not a safe place for kids and they dan be influenced so easily that it’s actually scary. Man I love this reporting, I only wish that bigger news outlets could do the exact same kind of research and coverage on Roblox, but the best we can get is moderators whistle blowing to Bloomberg that there isn’t enough diversity in the staff as if that’s what’s most wrong with Roblox as a whole.

Spam bots actually used to spam advertisements in a lot of games, and it was impossible for even me and my specific taste in games to avoid them. Thankfully their appearance practically ceased existence inside of games, now only occassionally appearing in groups and catalog items.

Ruben Sim was amongst the only UA-camrs who truly cared about the future of Roblox as a platform for young children and adults to coexist without the latter creating trouble for the former. But look what they did, they sued the guy who wanted to do good. People would often say that Roblox would've continued to be great if Eric was still alive. And I believe them, really if they were one of which who was on Roblox back when he was still around, even playing in servers with him; because, many companies, games, etc. would begin to hit their downfall early if someone was to quit, be fired, or die.
As somebody who grew up playing roblox, there’s a lot that people don’t talk about. One being the major presence of nazis and other extremists trying to indoctrinate children. I knew somebody who was like 15 and brought his younger brother into a nazi group with him. Roblox has been battling with nazis since 2010 and still to this day. There was some serious messed up stuff I saw

The reason that it has ever gotten this bad is because contrary to what you said; they are not using the optimal moderation techniques. They are cutting costs on moderation to save money and turn a bigger profit at the expense of their players' safety. It is frankly inadequate, and will continue to harm many, many children unless the government comes down on Roblox.

The fact is, Roblox is a great platform with really fun games but because of the community it gets so much hate and is called a game for pedophiles and children, when really, it isn’t even hard to avoid them. You can do the obvious, block them, close chat, ignore them, or just play in a private server.

I’d also like to point out a serious problem on the game “pls donate”. The game itself is amazing, and the developer is very charitable, putting hundreds of millions back into the game by donating to other users. I’ve noticed an influx of spam bots, who would claim a stand and start either posting messages in the chat trying to get users do donate to them, or completely spamming the chat with advertisements. Some bots impersonate famous UA-camrs and earning thousands of Robux on it. Some even have a delay to when they post a message to make it seem like they are real people. It’s also quite easy to expose a bot when you try saying “bot” or “scam/scammer”. It’s sad to see a game as incredible as this to be polluted by heartless scammers trying to take advantage of children.

I've been on Roblox since 2006. It's insane how I never managed to run into a single person like that. But I guess preds make up less than a minority of the community.

Me too, I started at 12, but I knew about things like these thanks to my nature, I was 12 but with the mind of a 18 years old, I knew about hacking, stalking, dangerous links and predators from a very young age, Thanks God I was that intelligent I remember a lot of spam bots and knew about them and how dangerous they are
I've seen some weird games and met some gross people on Roblox, I wish my child self would've steered away from those things. Luckily nothing life changing happened to me, just a lot of gross/cringy experiences.
