The fact that SEGA, who actively encourages fangames and promotes some of them, was more active against a fan game developer than the platform the dev was using is infuriating.
Man, this is insane. I once got banned on roblox for saying something “offensive” ( I didn’t however) and yet they let preds just chill and harm people on their app.
Roblox is actually just digging its own grave at this point; Ruben was simply showing them their possible cause of death and handing them the coffin and the shovel.
The ped problem is so terrifying. When I was 15 I made a 9 year old friend on Roblox, we were like big and little sister and played a lot together. One day when she was around 10, we were on a Discord call and she asked me where I lived. I said Canada and asked her the same question, expecting her to tell me a country, but she sent me her whole home address. I was shook. What if she was talking to someone with bad intentions?

She was a fun person and we simply connected very well as friends. I’m used to being friends with younger kids since the neighborhood I grew up in had a lot of kids who were smaller but got along with me. If we’re able to be friends, and if I’m not dangerous to them, I don’t see any problem.
As a 12 year old this video is very informative that Roblox does have oders and preds are out there in that platform. I am really thankful to my mother that she deleted Roblox. The quote “Parents beware, monsters are among us” will be stuck in my mind for a long time…
Your mom did the right thing and you sound very wise for your age. However, I also want to tell you that you should be very careful sharing your age or any personal information online. Stating your age online when you are a minor makes you an immediate target for any weirdo who finds your profile. I don't say this to lecture you or say that you are an easy target or anything. this actually happened to my lil sister.. she's 10 and she secretly chat and do voice call with a guy in his 20s.. and the chat history is disgusting.. this guy acts like he's my sis bf.. it's disgusting! and I'm sad that my sister fell for this.. she's too young and vulnerable.. I'm lucky that I discovered this on her phone before it's too late.. it's only been a month since they met on online game platform, my dad took her phone deleted her number and games, he also put parental lock on her phone now thankfully.. this is so scary had I not checked her phone that day.. who knows what will happen to her.. 😢
There is one problem with Rubens statement "tell you're parents if you are being pursued by a predator" but that's the problem. The kids don't want to. They love Roblox and they know if they tell their parents they will take away their devices, games and any connection to the virtual world will be tooken away. They don't want that, so they choose to stay silent.
@@NinjazRcool agreed! and to the kids, their mindset is “holy crap. i know this is bad but i love this game and don’t wanna go away”. i myself have witnessed shit on the platform as a young child (specifically that one “assault” hack that inspired the modern con games back in like 2018) and i was nervous to tell my parents about it, because i believed they’d take away my internet privileges. they found out about roblox’s dark side and ended up pulling me away from the game. *many* years later i make another account, just for the fun of it, and… well. if you’ve seen those games on the platform, you know what im talking about. all over the front page. it terrified me, even now. call me biased if you wish, but i have an extremely deep hate for this platform because of what it’s become. a soulless “game” where your kid can become groomed and traumatized in minutes. if i ever have kids of my own, (and if roblox doesn’t go up in flames by then, which i doubt) im keeping them FAR away from roblox.

And let’s not forget the time someone was able to get access to a Roblox Admin control panel by simply bribing a Roblox Admin $500. Think, imagine throwing away the future of the company you work for into the hands of someone else for $500. If at all from this situation just proves that they’re even more pathetic than before. The thing is that sega loves fan games, but the fact that they take down game not b/c of illegal use of IP, they did something that roblox should have done, which was get rid of him. So irresponsible.
The problem with kids is that they are naive, they silence themselves in fear of losing what roblox means to them, a place where they made actual friends and had fun, and telling your parents about a predator who groomed you on your game is going to set off alarms for the parents, and they know that.
This is true. I mean I have played Roblox since 2017, and even I had weird experiences with players when I didn't know what was happening.. And it's not easy to talk to your parents about it because of the fear of your parents getting rid of Roblox.
In a way, Roblox has gained such a grasp on you that you feel you can't let go unless a breaking point comes or some guardian angel frees you from its grasp. For me personally, as a socially anxious and relatively deep person that dwells more in his thoughts than in the social atmosphere, the fear of losing something as addicting as Roblox was hard to deal with, especially since boredom catches up when you have no means of doing something more entertaining. I eventually came to the breaking point when I started to see people around me suffer as a result of my behavior, and the reminder of how short my life is constantly ringing throughout my mind gave me a chance to take, which I used and quit Roblox for a good 5-6 months. Of course, I relapsed as many who suffer from addiction do, but I broke out again and over time, my time-away period from Roblox began to grow in size. In the end you either make the choice to wage war against an addiction and realize the impact it has on you and people around you, or continue to fall deeper and feel miserable as the wraith consumes you.

I don’t think that Roblox cares about their users safety as they did and don’t want to. My problem is that 4 of my friends were victims of predators, had their personal information leaked, being scammed for money when me and my friend wanted to make a game together but we couldn’t because for some goddamn reason we had to pay 3000 robux! It was so…weird and I am still confused about it.

As a Roblox player I can confirm this is all exactly right. Moderation at the moment is terrible , as a kid I’ve seen many interesting things on Roblox which are purely NFSW content which is infact truly disgusting and I’ve caught many predators on the the platform and even got groomed before when I was much younger then I am now it’s horrible to see how it is now.
Adult who still uses roblox here,I mostly keep playing for nostalgia. Rarely ever use the chat window,and I stay away from public servers. It genuinely hurts to see a company that made such a creative and wonderful platform turn into greedy and scummy suits. Back when I was playing for the first time,roblox actually had soul. People gave a damn and so did the people running the game. Now there’s very little left. I deliberately play games that allow private server or can do single player. Not because I don't want to play alongside children but because modern multiplayer games on the platform leans way more hard to appeal to children. It's kinda hard pill to swallow that the platform never grew up with their player base and it never will.

Hey, i also play Roblox I honestly agree that playing in a private servers is the best. Cause in public servers can be complicated. I only play Roblox for it's avatar customization. 2015 or 2013 are the best year for Roblox to enjoy But now a days, the game is a crash grab... Roblox game dev here, I’m so glad you brought up the problem with being underpaid! Making a Roblox game up to today’s standards for front page quality is not much different from making an indie game on steam, yet it’s not enough to actually make a reliable source of money. A lot of major games I’ve seen require full-time dedication but you’d be better off leaving the platform for another. It’s supposed to be a platform for young developers to hone their skills and get their names out there yet Roblox makes it so difficult to do so. I’m a 20 year old student like most other devs, I need money to survive, I can’t dedicate my time to developing a full fledged game while not receiving the full reward for my efforts.

a young girl in my town met a man on roblox. i knew her. i will not disclose her name. she was groomed by him, and she met up with him. when she was found, she was in texas, in his basement with multiple other girls, in a human trafficking ring. what did roblox do? nothing.
I play anime games on Roblox as an older man because these kids make some great fan games. It’s honestly one of the only places to play a legitimate FUN BIG 3 anime game. I’m playing the hell out of type soul lol. I’m mindful that there are a lot of kids on the channel and as a father of a son myself I try not to get too involved or stare these kids into negative directions. So I’m usually on my best behavior. I had NO IDEA that Roblox even has games like this because I mostly play anime games, this shit is crazy. Edit: Even though the currency ratios are horrendous, it is a VALID place to make a game. This video is spot on. It’s also incredibly toxic if you’re not careful. Kids are out here scamming kids, and it’s a lot of Tom foolery going on, yall should really monitor what your kids are doing on here, especially when they join discord servers.

I haven’t played Roblox in well over 10 years, and this is the first time I’ve really seen what it has become today. The feeling of watching something you used to love and cherish being absolutely violated by greedy and downright sick bastards is an indescribable feeling. It’s mainly Anger, this is not the game I grew up with, and I hope they lose everything. I’m praying for Ruben’s success, and if anything he can raise awareness of this twisted company’s practices.

Very glad that these topics are being brought to light, and that even kids can watch these and prevent such things from happening to them. I've been on roblox since i was 8, and luckily i have not had those experiences. Nor have i thought about all the things roblox does, such as a literal stock market in disguise in the game's store. Its unfortunate ruben had to go through this while trying to prevent more and more people falling victims to this behaviour.. Very good documentary.

It hurts to see all these years and barely any action was taken to help prevent and protect the players, especially the young ones. The fact that they only ever take action when it seems like the problem will affect their money and abuses their power to silence anyone who tries to point out the ongoing serious issues doesn't put good luck on them either. I hope one day I and all the people who have been affected by the scandals will get our justice one day from the money hungry company and sick players.
It does honestly.. I was actually with a predator friend on roblox till I found a way to see all the bad things.. and I hope you are safe as well. It really is sad.. It's SO baffling how people don't take such seriousness, especially the parents in some cases. Had a parent ask me where the Roblox gift cards were. In the middle of pointing out where the gift cards are, she proceeds to tell me how she needs to 'get something to buy her kids' attention while she's at work' because 'her daughter is going to be home alone and needs something to do'.

Glad that more people are finally starting to acknowledge what goes on, on Roblox. A cousin of mine who is 13 was groomed for around a month by some dude who was in his 20's on Roblox, Uncle made several reports to Roblox and made sure that it stopped right after he found out, but it's scary to think what would've happened had he not noticed, since I doubt Roblox would've lifted a finger.

About "Roblox is Stealing from you" part, I totally I agree with you. When the time that Builderclubs have been added. Roblox Outrageous Builderclub basically gives you a lot of Robux. For example, if you bought Outrageous in October First, you'll get 60 Robux daily, if we do the math, 60 times 31 equals 1860. You'll get 1860 Robux. the cost of it is 20 dollars. And what modern Roblox sells for 20 dollars now? 1700 Robux, if you bought the normal one. But it's worth of getting trades and exclusives.

my little sister was almost groomed on Roblox recently, it took restricting her account for us to even know what was going on, and when we looked through her chats it was so sickening to see how many people messaged her weird emojis and inappropriate questions, etc.. we turned on the setting to make the games she plays be recommended for all ages but when I tested it and was looking through games, the recommended games were STILL games involving things like "rp bathroom" with seriously suggestive thumbnails. Roblox REALLY needs better moderation and they need to take the safety of the kids on their platform seriously... it's terrifying seeing all the games and stuff that are being recommended to her when her account has her age and birthday...
I had a friend one time get lucky, he didn’t put any ads on his game at all and the game blew up for no reason. He made around 200k visits and it was his first game that started getting popular. He really did deserve it too because he was a really decent dev and his game was pretty good too. But sadly it was short lived, because after making around R30k from that game (after the 30% fee) roblox took down his game for absolutely no reason and gave him a warning saying his game was inappropriate, even tho there are wayyyy worse games on roblox and his game had nothing bad In it. This was years ago now and sadly he quit roblox and I have no way to contact him, I’m not sure how he is doing or what happened to him. But it’s just sad to see that roblox punished people who don’t use the same system for getting games popular as everyone else.

This place CAN be dangerous, but it is not for the average player. that is, it still does happen. Thank you for this video, and thank you for bringing situations like this to light.
10 months late, but safety tip: Never explicitly say your age online, if you can help it. It makes it easier to pick out and target kids. Not saying YOU are an "easy target", but like, every child/teen carelessly gives away their age bc they don't realize that any info can be dangerous, which sucks, but normalizing not giving that away so easily helps. (Sorry if I worded that awkwardly or clunkily, I struggle to explain/phrase things. Cognitive issues.)
Chiming in to agree with the other commenter, if you are underage, revealing your age online is dangerous! You don't want to give any personal information, especially because stating your age as a minor makes you an immediate target for any weirdo who finds your profile.
This is a great video and you really explained it well. The only thing lacking is what Ruben actually did. I’m a fan of him. I watch him frequently but you didn’t bring to light what he did.
I've been in the Roblox community for more than a decade. Started off watching early gameplay videos and machinimas on UA-cam, and then about seven years ago, I actually began playing it myself. I've got many fond memories of this platform, the games, the people. It's really upsetting seeing the direction this company is going. I really hope that Roblox changes their act soon, because they are killing their own platform and driving away the original player base. They don't even realize it. They're to oblivious and blinded by ignorance, incompetence, and greed... and I'm really not so sure if I should stay aboard this sinking ship of a platform or abandon it. I couldn't tell you why I love this platform so much when at it's core, is just a silly Lego clone.
I've quit completely in 2020, my mental health has improved significantly and I've found myself becoming a more mature, better person. Not only has quitting helped me out significantly, it also helped with many other aspects. I feel like quitting was a blessing in disguise.

No, but seriously. Chapter one 0:56 is so true! I've been playing it since 2016 and I have CERTAINLY noticed a change. It turned from a fun, light-hearted community into a pay-to-win, online dating, and overall toxic community. Now online dating is nowhere near as criticized, clothing items aren't only 5 Robux, now they're 7-10, and don't get me started on the number of GROWN ADULTS that have criticized children for their AGE. What do you expect them to do? build a time machine and make their parents meet 5+ years earlier? Oh my god don't even get me started on the moderation. I got banned for a week for saying the word "uh no". And my friends wonder why I don't play with them anymore 🤨
Someone who started playing Roblox in 2007 here and playing it on and off to this day. Late 2000s to early 2010s were, in my opinion, the best years to be playing it. Sure, drama still happened and unfair moderation actions were still around (plus the game itself was clunky back then), but not as bad as it has become now. It is disheartening to see a game creation site I grew up with has become such a mess. And it doesn't look like the current corporation will do anything significant to deal with what plagues their product.
I got a warning for calling an oder a simp. The game was called "Ragdoll testing" where u can ragdoll, dance and interact with others and there were options that allows u to become a giant with gamepass (used to be free). These 2 couples were doing bad stuff while being giants infront of LITERAL KIDS!!! AND I GET A WARNING FOR CALLING THEM A SIMP LIKE THATS EVEN WORSE

Didn't happen on Roblox, but this is an example of grooming that happened to me. I was going through a break-up and chose to vent on Reddit. Unfortunately I put my age in the post at the time cuz it was one of the rules of the subreddit. I was 14. This guy starts messaging me trying to comfort me. He was 32. We became friends, what looked like friends to me at the time, and talked for hours late into the night for maybe two weeks or so. When I mentioned my parents and things that bothered me about what they do (my parents are great parents but every kid gets upset with them at some point) he encouraged me to almost stray away from them and what they say. He constantly called me mature for my age and I get that a bit sometimes so I didn't think anything of it. He even set up this card and put $300 on it for me to use. That's what really drew me in because my parents will get me what I want most of the time, but they won't buy things for me willy nilly if it doesn't make any sense or if I don't deserve it. My scenario was EXTREMELY lucky because I had mentioned this guy to my best friend cuz I tell her everything. I feel embarrassed to admit it but a part of me was actually starting to fall for him and was close to giving him my ADDRESS by the time I told her. She was skeptical about him. Reasonably so. She couldn't do much sadly, but she did tell me to really reconsider what I was doing and think about the fact that he was most likely grooming me. Just those words alone was enough for me to come back to my senses because the normal me would never even think of telling someone I've only known for two weeks online personal info. So I made another quick post on Reddit (on the same subreddit where I first vented ironically) and literally everyone said to block him and run. That and what my friend told me solidified it for me. Ironic that Reddit was a part of what saved me from myself and even the same subreddit, but I give most of the praise to my friend. Without her simple text I don't think I would've started rethinking things at that point. The main point here tho is that the only reason this 32 yr old was able to connect to my 14 yr old self was because I was in a vulnerable position after a break-up and subconsciously looking for something to replace that relationship. Pedophiles will use your vulnerabilities against you and on a platform with kids even younger than I was that most likely has most kids on there than on Reddit? A sickening combination to say the least

Roblox used to be good back in the day. First played it back in 2011. Seeing how they've become so corporate, corrupted, and mainstream within a decade is really sad to witness.
First played in 2016, I can agree with that statement. Roblox lost its touch when it took away fun events and replaced them with corporate events meant to advertise products to children that are probably not even 13 years old yet. Roblox really is a terrible place. For instance, I once saw a friend playing a parkour game on Roblox, and I was interested as I love Minecraft parkour and this map seemed to be based on Minecraft parkour maps, but not to far into the level, there were multiple pictures of nude women on the floor of the map. Seeing as how nobody actually plays games that aren't on the front page or on the top of search results, this is a true lack of moderation by Roblox.
Dude! What's kind of funny is that I was playing Roblox this entire time. But I think the reason some people discredit these type of things is because some people only play Roblox with the home page, not the recommended page. It's very nice that your taking these types of things and giving them the attention that they need. Hoping you can reach your goal of 100K.
As a developer who has made real cash from Roblox, I can say this is unfortunately all true. Roblox has so many issues, and they ignore almost every single one of them. For example, those "condo" games, I know of one which is literally reuploaded by a bot every time it gets taken down (which takes too long). Thanks for making this video, as I hope these issues are made more public in the future.
Thank you for bringing all of this up. As much as Roblox can be a fun place to play games (hell I still enjoy playing it from time to time, not as much as I used to but still quite a bit) it can also be very dangerous. I’ve had my fair share of being groomed on that site when I was about 12-13, especially with this one guy who would ask me a bunch of sexual questions in the form of 21 questions and make me go into sexual games with him (this was like 2017 or 2018 so there was a slight spike in nsfw games on Roblox if I’m not wrong), luckily my dad found out and make me block him, I still think about that time every now and again and how gross it was. Kids, please be careful when playing Roblox. Not everyone wants to be your friend on there.

I'm 14, when i was 12, i met this guy on a game, we started talking and he met my friend, then he messaged me "hey can you tell (friend) that i'm sorry" on a random day, i was confused and asked my friend about it. then she showed me screenshots of the guy telling her that she was "on the list" and said some rather disturbing things, calling her "mommy" in a sexual way. I tried to help her by talking to him so she could get ready to confront him, though before, that could happen, he send me a gore video and said "i wish that was me" After a quick moment of tears, i replied with "yeah i wish that was you too" and blocked him. :D

Even WildWorks, a "child friendly" company who made Animal Jam classic (and play wild) doesn't care about scammers, bullies, online daters, ect. Thank you for speaking out about this, to me it seems like it’s either 1. Roblox only cares about what’s in their wallet, 2. Favoritism or 3. They know that there is many young players on the platform and they let child pr*dators roam freely around the platform cuz they know each move they make not only affects the roblox community negatively it gets them money.

I remember being one of the earliest players in roblox. It genuinely had a lot of heart and creativity with barely any microtransactions. Now, while i was trying it again, it has become a microtransaction mess with barely any supervision or respect for the players. One of the greatest fall from grace situations ever.
I'm a twenty something and I play Roblox with my nieces. We live hundreds of miles apart so it's a nice way for us to keep connected and have fun together. There have been some absolutely terrifying and uncomfortable moments I've witnessed between them and other players. I've tried to reach them about speaking up for themselves and not taking crap, but these people are so damn persistent. Even reporting them does nothing. One of the worst moments was when one of my nieces and I found a house, the inside of which was decorated like a strip club. There was tons of explicit and suggestive material in the home and I reported the player immediately and my nieces and I server hopped. Many children don't have someone to watch out for them, though. It's disgusting and a pervasive problem they need to address.

One day when she was around 10, we were on a Discord call and she asked me where I lived. I said Canada and asked her the same question, expecting her to tell me a country, but she sent me her whole home address. I was shook. What if she was talking to someone with bad intentions?

She was a fun person and we simply connected very well as friends. If we’re able to be friends, and if I’m not dangerous to them, I don’t see any problem.

There is one problem with Rubens statement "tell you're parents if you are being pursued by a predator" but that's the problem. The kids don't want to. They love Roblox and they know if they tell their parents they will take away their devices, games and any connection to the virtual world will be tooken away. And let’s not forget the time someone was able to get access to a Roblox Admin control panel by simply bribing a Roblox Admin $500. Think, imagine throwing away the future of the company you work for into the hands of someone else for $500. If at all from this situation just proves that they’re even more pathetic than before.

The problem with kids is that they are naive, they silence themselves in fear of losing what roblox means to them, a place where they made actual friends and had fun, and telling your parents about a predator who groomed you on your game is going to set off alarms for the parents, and they know that.
This is true. I mean I have played Roblox since 2017, and even I had weird experiences with players when I didn't know what was happening..
And it's not easy to talk to your parents about it because of the fear of your parents getting rid of Roblox.
In a way, Roblox has gained such a grasp on you that you feel you can't let go unless a breaking point comes or some guardian angel frees you from its grasp. For me personally, as a socially anxious and relatively deep person that dwells more in his thoughts than in the social atmosphere, the fear of losing something as addicting as Roblox was hard to deal with, especially since boredom catches up when you have no means of doing something more entertaining.
I eventually came to the breaking point when I started to see people around me suffer as a result of my behavior, and the reminder of how short my life is constantly ringing throughout my mind gave me a chance to take, which I used and quit Roblox for a good 5-6 months. Of course, I relapsed as many who suffer from addiction do, but I broke out again and over time, my time-away period from Roblox began to grow in size.
In the end you either make the choice to wage war against an addiction and realize the impact it has on you and people around you, or continue to fall deeper and feel miserable as the wraith consumes you.

As a Roblox player I can confirm this is all exactly right. Moderation at the moment is terrible , as a kid I’ve seen many interesting things on Roblox which are purely NFSW content which is infact truly disgusting and I’ve caught many predators on the the platform and even got groomed before when I was much younger then I am now it’s horrible to see how it is now.
Adult who still uses roblox here,I mostly keep playing for nostalgia. Rarely ever use the chat window,and I stay away from public servers. It genuinely hurts to see a company that made such a creative and wonderful platform turn into greedy and scummy suits. Back when I was playing for the first time,roblox actually had soul. People gave a damn and so did the people running the game. Now there’s very little left. Some of Roblox’s past remains,like the old war clans and Of course,longtime creators (at least the ones who aren’t preds),but other than that,it’s changed for the worst. And it frustrates me to no end that they refuse to change again,just because it costs money for them. Makes me even angrier that they let all this creepy shit slide.
I deliberately play games that allow private server or can do single player. Not because I don't want to play alongside children but because modern multiplayer games on the platform leans way more hard to appeal to children. It's kinda hard pill to swallow that the platform never grew up with their player base and it never will.

Roblox game dev here, I’m so glad you brought up the problem with being underpaid! Making a Roblox game up to today’s standards for front page quality is not much different from making an indie game on steam, yet it’s not enough to actually make a reliable source of money. A lot of major games I’ve seen require full-time dedication but you’d be better off leaving the platform for another. It’s supposed to be a platform for young developers to hone their skills and get their names out there yet Roblox makes it so difficult to do so. I’m a 20 year old student like most other devs, I need money to survive, I can’t dedicate my time to developing a full fledged game while not receiving the full reward for my efforts.

I play anime games on Roblox as an older man because these kids make some great fan games. It’s honestly one of the only places to play a legitimate FUN BIG 3 anime game. I’m playing the hell out of type soul lol. I’m mindful that there are a lot of kids on the channel and as a father of a son myself I try not to get too involved or stare these kids into negative directions. So I’m usually on my best behavior.
I had NO IDEA that Roblox even has games like this because I mostly play anime games, this shit is crazy.

I haven’t played Roblox in well over 10 years, and this is the first time I’ve really seen what it has become today. The feeling of watching something you used to love and cherish being absolutely violated by greedy and downright sick bastards is an indescribable feeling. It’s mainly Anger, this is not the game I grew up with, and I hope they lose everything. I’m praying for Ruben’s success, and if anything he can raise awareness of this twisted company’s practices.

Very glad that these topics are being brought to light, and that even kids can watch these and prevent such things from happening to them. I've been on roblox since i was 8, and luckily i have not had those experiences. Nor have i thought about all the things roblox does, such as a literal stock market in disguise in the game's store. Its unfortunate ruben had to go through this while trying to prevent more and more people falling victims to this behaviour.. Very good documentary.

It hurts to see all these years and barely any action was taken to help prevent and protect the players, especially the young ones. The fact that they only ever take action when it seems like the problem will affect their money and abuses their power to silence anyone who tries to point out the ongoing serious issues doesn't put good luck on them either. A cousin of mine who is 13 was groomed for around a month by some dude who was in his 20's on Roblox, Uncle made several reports to Roblox and made sure that it stopped right after he found out, but it's scary to think what would've happened had he not noticed, since I doubt Roblox would've lifted a finger.

About "Roblox is Stealing from you" part, I totally I agree with you. When the time that Builderclubs have been added. Roblox Outrageous Builderclub basically gives you a lot of Robux. For example, if you bought Outrageous in October First, you'll get 60 Robux daily, if we do the math, 60 times 31 equals 1860. You'll get 1860 Robux. the cost of it is 20 dollars. And what modern Roblox sells for 20 dollars now? 1700 Robux, if you bought the normal one. But it's worth of getting trades and exclusives.

my little sister was almost groomed on Roblox recently, it took restricting her account for us to even know what was going on, and when we looked through her chats it was so sickening to see how many people messaged her weird emojis and inappropriate questions, etc.. we turned on the setting to make the games she plays be recommended for all ages but when I tested it and was looking through games, the recommended games were STILL games involving things like "rp bathroom" with seriously suggestive thumbnails. Roblox REALLY needs better moderation and they need to take the safety of the kids on their platform seriously... it's terrifying seeing all the games and stuff that are being recommended to her when her account has her age and birthday...

I had a friend one time get lucky, he didn’t put any ads on his game at all and the game blew up for no reason. He made around 200k visits and it was his first game that started getting popular. He really did deserve it too because he was a really decent dev and his game was pretty good too. But sadly it was short lived, because after making around R30k from that game (after the 30% fee) roblox took down his game for absolutely no reason and gave him a warning saying his game was inappropriate, even tho there are wayyyy worse games on roblox and his game had nothing bad In it. This was years ago now and sadly he quit roblox and I have no way to contact him, I’m not sure how he is doing or what happened to him. But it’s just sad to see that roblox punished people who don’t use the same system for getting games popular as everyone else.

As a 14 year old, i just watched this video and i wholeheartedly agree with everything here. I am an avid player of Roblox, and I can confirm what is being said here. This place CAN be dangerous, but it is not for the average player. that is, it still does happen. Thank you for this video, and thank you for bringing situations like this to light.
10 months late, but safety tip: Never explicitly say your age online, if you can help it. It makes it easier to pick out and target kids. Not saying YOU are an "easy target", but like, every child/teen carelessly gives away their age bc they don't realize that any info can be dangerous, which sucks, but normalizing not giving that away so easily helps. (Sorry if I worded that awkwardly or clunkily, I struggle to explain/phrase things. Cognitive issues.)
Chiming in to agree with the other commenter, if you are underage, revealing your age online is dangerous! You don't want to give any personal information, especially because stating your age as a minor makes you an immediate target for any weirdo who finds your profile.

I've been in the Roblox community for more than a decade. Started off watching early gameplay videos and machinimas on UA-cam, and then about seven years ago, I actually began playing it myself. I've got many fond memories of this platform, the games, the people. It's really upsetting seeing the direction this company is going. I really hope that Roblox changes their act soon, because they are killing their own platform and driving away the original player base. They don't even realize it. They're to oblivious and blinded by ignorance, incompetence, and greed... and I'm really not so sure if I should stay aboard this sinking ship of a platform or abandon it. I couldn't tell you why I love this platform so much when at it's core, is just a silly Lego clone.
I stopped playing it completely after all this started happening, and I've had more fun than I've had on roblox in a long time

I've quit completely in 2020, my mental health has improved significantly and I've found myself becoming a more mature, better person. Not only has quitting helped me out significantly, it also helped with many other aspects.

It’s funny how I used Minecraft from the age 11 till now and I’m 25, but in all those years I never was groomed or experienced anything too out of line…..what’s wrong with Roblox? As a older player of kids games I really take pride in only playing with other adults and denying kids to add me. Someone who started playing Roblox in 2007 here and playing it on and off to this day. Late 2000s to early 2010s were, in my opinion, the best years to be playing it. Sure, drama still happened and unfair moderation actions were still around (plus the game itself was clunky back then), but not as bad as it has become now.
It is disheartening to see a game creation site I grew up with has become such a mess. And it doesn't look like the current corporation will do anything significant to deal with what plagues their product.
I got a warning for calling an oder a simp. The game was called "Ragdoll testing" where u can ragdoll, dance and interact with others and there were options that allows u to become a giant with gamepass (used to be free). I was going through a break-up and chose to vent on Reddit. Unfortunately I put my age in the post at the time cuz it was one of the rules of the subreddit. I was 14. This guy starts messaging me trying to comfort me. He was 32. We became friends, what looked like friends to me at the time, and talked for hours late into the night for maybe two weeks or so.
When I mentioned my parents and things that bothered me about what they do (my parents are great parents but every kid gets upset with them at some point) he encouraged me to almost stray away from them and what they say. He constantly called me mature for my age and I get that a bit sometimes so I didn't think anything of it. He even set up this card and put $300 on it for me to use. That's what really drew me in because my parents will get me what I want most of the time, but they won't buy things for me willy nilly if it doesn't make any sense or if I don't deserve it.
My scenario was EXTREMELY lucky because I had mentioned this guy to my best friend cuz I tell her everything. I feel embarrassed to admit it but a part of me was actually starting to fall for him and was close to giving him my ADDRESS by the time I told her. She was skeptical about him. Reasonably so. She couldn't do much sadly, but she did tell me to really reconsider what I was doing and think about the fact that he was most likely grooming me. Just those words alone was enough for me to come back to my senses because the normal me would never even think of telling someone I've only known for two weeks online personal info.
So I made another quick post on Reddit (on the same subreddit where I first vented ironically) and literally everyone said to block him and run. That and what my friend told me solidified it for me. Ironic that Reddit was a part of what saved me from myself and even the same subreddit, but I give most of the praise to my friend. Without her simple text I don't think I would've started rethinking things at that point. The main point here tho is that the only reason this 32 yr old was able to connect to my 14 yr old self was because I was in a vulnerable position after a break-up and subconsciously looking for something to replace that relationship. Pedophiles will use your vulnerabilities against you and on a platform with kids even younger than I was that most likely has most kids on there than on Reddit? A sickening combination to say the least

Mentally it never affected me too much thankfully since I've already been diagnosed with depression. It might be weird to say but I'm sort of glad it happened. I got a first hand experience of what pedophiles do while grooming so it'd be easier to recognize for myself or anything else. And the guy gave me money in the process... Roblox really is a terrible place. For instance, I once saw a friend playing a parkour game on Roblox, and I was interested as I love Minecraft parkour and this map seemed to be based on Minecraft parkour maps, but not to far into the level, there were multiple pictures of nude women on the floor of the map. Seeing as how nobody actually plays games that aren't on the front page or on the top of search results, this is a true lack of moderation by Roblox.

As a developer who has made real cash from Roblox, I can say this is unfortunately all true. Roblox has so many issues, and they ignore almost every single one of them. For example, those "condo" games, I know of one which is literally reuploaded by a bot every time it gets taken down (which takes too long). As much as Roblox can be a fun place to play games (hell I still enjoy playing it from time to time, not as much as I used to but still quite a bit) it can also be very dangerous. I’ve had my fair share of being groomed on that site when I was about 12-13, especially with this one guy who would ask me a bunch of sexual questions in the form of 21 questions and make me go into sexual games with him (this was like 2017 or 2018 so there was a slight spike in nsfw games on Roblox if I’m not wrong), luckily my dad found out and make me block him, I still think about that time every now and again and how gross it was. as a young developer, i can see how the toolbox(the place you can import models from) is infested with extremely horrible models. roblox is doing very little to stop this
It can also push your CPU to something that it wouldn't reach which causes it to overheat and worse case scenario, explode or burn, those free model problems needs to be fixed, their studio is more left in the dark than their main software
Most of the models are leaked so its risky using the toolbox anyways!
Just by searching up the word "girl" on the roblox studio toolbox you can find hundreds of NSFW models 🙁

I'm 14, when i was 12, i met this guy on a game, we started talking and he met my friend, then he messaged me "hey can you tell (friend) that i'm sorry" on a random day, i was confused and asked my friend about it. then she showed me screenshots of the guy telling her that she was "on the list" and said some rather disturbing things, calling her "mommy" in a sexual way.
I tried to help her by talking to him so she could get ready to confront him, though before, that could happen, he send me a gore video and said "i wish that was me"
After a quick moment of tears, i replied with "yeah i wish that was you too" and blocked him.

Thank you for speaking out about this, to me it seems like it’s either 1. Roblox only cares about what’s in their wallet, 2. Favoritism or 3. They know that there is many young players on the platform and they let child pr*dators roam freely around the platform cuz they know each move they make not only affects the roblox community negatively it gets them money.

I remember being one of the earliest players in roblox. It genuinely had a lot of heart and creativity with barely any microtransactions. Now, while i was trying it again, it has become a microtransaction mess with barely any supervision or respect for the players. One of the greatest fall from grace situations ever.
I'm a twenty something and I play Roblox with my nieces. We live hundreds of miles apart so it's a nice way for us to keep connected and have fun together. There have been some absolutely terrifying and uncomfortable moments I've witnessed between them and other players. I've tried to reach them about speaking up for themselves and not taking crap, but these people are so damn persistent. Even reporting them does nothing. One of the worst moments was when one of my nieces and I found a house, the inside of which was decorated like a strip club. There was tons of explicit and suggestive material in the home and I reported the player immediately and my nieces and I server hopped. Many children don't have someone to watch out for them, though. It's disgusting and a pervasive problem they need to address.

Sadly, exposing the truth about robloxs has consequents. When I joined (during 2015 btw) I remember roblox being a bit stricter on users and covering up inappropriate games before they could get spread too fast. Now it sadly seems like they don't care. What happened to that dream Erik and David had plan on making? A platform for users of all ages to have fun? Even tho its morbid to mention this, how would Erik feel about the current state of robloxs?

I was only 9 when I saw a picture of some getting railed on Roblox. It's honestly sad and disgusting. And to think something that was originally made for kids is GENUINELY adding a dating feature for 17+. Not even 18+.
just wanted to mention despite the amount of kiddos on roblox, lots of teens use it too which is where the style comes from. so the default recommendation of clothing doesnt even matter based off the users age or gender, it's just what's trending in looks.

Im working with a group to make a rp game and i never knew that the game i spend hours working on is not going to be popular makes me very sad.
It's so frustrating seeing this i know the most I can do is quit the game this is not going to change the game whatsoever its just so infuriating seeing the treatment the devs get and this is literally extortion and fucking don't come with the excuse that they provide free services to build a game. I personally live in a country in which people don't get paid for overtime with my personal experience it's not different from being a roblox dev like i can't a personal life because see first it's that i come home at 8 and I have a company phone that if I don't pick up a call or my phone is switched off I will get punished and this applies even when I am on holiday I could get called on national holidays and I manage the provinces of 4 individual and barely get the salary for one and this is what roblox devs experience like you can't earn a liveable income and the people can always change as there is like tons and tons of competition. The lawsuit is absolutely absurd it's almost like they want to make an example of him and 1.6mil is no child's amount I hope everything works out for him I don't think I will be on the platform for long I don't think they are gonna take any action and we users and devs alike willnt be respected like how many times do you think that people complain that they weren't refunded and now I get Minecraft is more popular than roblox (out of context i know) like i literally thought that Minecraft made 2 or 3 times more than roblox and it turns out be the opposite And the Minecraft community doesn't have many problems with the game itself rather the community in it.
