"You can't have X Hairstyle because your Skincolor is/isn't Y" It can't be more racist than this, yet these people think they are the good guys. I believe the mind does not age like the body does. The body can't stop, but a lot of people seem to stop at 13 for a long long while.
Those people are also the same one who think orcs represent black people. Lets say that I have not once heard any racist make this comment in 20 years of internet lurking.
If you actually gave the situation any thought you would realize the simplistic art style means it can be a stand in for any hairstyle that resembles it, rendering the argument pointless
@@Pandaxtor Goddamn, I remember ExtraCredit making such a video, saying how "orcs are problematic in video games because they represent minorities as barbarians" or something like that, which is the most absurd and logic defying thought process. They said also that playing as a nazi in video games makes you a nazi irl, because "it desensitizes you to the concept". "If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything" As much as people might hate this advice, it is still a requirement that we think about what we say, especially online Twitter is still a social media app, but it's very easy to fall into the dumpster filled with words no sane man would ever say outside their screens
The term “Stan” comes from an Eminem song of the same name which tells about a fan named Stan who’s so obsessed with Eminem he ends up tying up his pregnant girlfriend, puts her into the trunk of his car and drives it off a bridge killing everyone because Eminem doesn’t immediately respond to his fan mail (only for Eminem to respond AFTER the guy killed himself and his pregnant girlfriend). It’s also believed that Eminem based the song off a guy who stalked him in real life. “Stan” was never a thing a person should try to be. Being a fan is great, but being a “Stan” is bad.
There's literally maps on Twitter to this day using different acronyms to hid under. It's not fake , but I do hope something gets done about it quick! It's scary seeing these people out in the open like this
@@potatortheomnipotentspud Unfortunately we have “freedom of speech”, so Idk whether expressing these things would count as criminal offenses or not. Not defending these people in any way shape or form
@@mancave10369 In most cases it doesn't. Police will only take action if: 1. You or somebody is underaged and the victim is being sexually harassed (take this with a grain of salt because most law enforcers will say it isn't their problem) 2. You have hard proof i.e. sexual photos of a grown person conversating with a minor/threatening the victim with their information like blackmail. Heavily depends on the State/country and platform (because the platform managers can help take legal action or tell you to fuck off entirely)
@@mancave10369Spreading child porn and predatory behavior is and should be illegal. Simply expressing that you are attracted to minors should not. Being a pedosexual/MAP/pedophile doesn't equal being a child rapist or wanting to rape children. Seeing those things as equal is similar to straight men being scared to be around gays simply because they are generally attracted to their sex. Sexual attraction doesn't equal sexual action and having a mental disorder doesn't eqaul being an evil person. The mental manifestation of human reproductive biology is heterosexuality between mature humans. Everything that deviates from that is a disorder but it isn't necessarily unethical just like heterosexual behaivor isn't necessarily ethical (like rape). It's evident that these disorders occure rather often and that they often aren't born from will and can't be cured. Treatment however can help people and in the case of pedosexuals prevent criminal behavior. People suffering from gender indentity disorder should be supported to have therapy or assisted in their gender transition to prevent suffering that can eventually lead to suicide. They shouldn't be seen as bad people just for not fitting into the norm. People that are attracted to minors should be supported in their control of sexual drive through therapy and possibly distanced from minors to prevent sexual exploitation of children and help the people having the disorder. I'm certain that a lot of things promoted on twitter under the label of MAP possibly the majority of things has no interest in protecting minors or having a civil discussion about humane treatment of disorders. Still I think there is a lot of progress to be made by discussing these things and that we should generally stigmatize this topic.
@@mancave10369 Free speech doesn't apply to Twitter and even if it did, a lot of the bigots and pedophiles/zoophiles advocating for it would still be (hopefully) permabanned due to hate speech and laws surrounding child/animal protection.

There's this one quote from TWom that could describe Twitter; "Nowadays, your former neighbor can kill you because your grandparents spoke a different language than his. This is true hell on Earth."
That's all of human history lol. People have been killing their neighbors over minor cultural differences since the dawn of time. Europeans would kill each other and take the same land back from each other over and over and over for centuries. In WW2 we put people in internment camps in my country just because they were Asian and we were fighting Japan, even if they were born here and spent their whole lives here.
@@gutts7433 The problem is in the past people had to put personal risk to attack you or needed authority. Now anyone can just make up shit and possibly ruin your life. It's been made too easy.
@@metazoxan2 HUH, you realize 300 years ago you could accuse someone of being a witch and they'd be burned at the stake right? And 60 years ago in certain parts of the country you could accuse black people of petty crimes and they'd be lynched. What magical year are you talking about where people couldn't just make shit up?
But really, the problem isn't Twitter. The problem is HUMANS. The entire Internet just reveals that no matter our physical age, we are Selfish, Cruel & Immature. When people believe they can do something free of consequences, they show who they truly are. As a matter of fact, all it takes is one step of distance from personal contact with another person to show how much we lack Empathy. Before the Internet, there were Cars & Roads, most people's driving behavior shows that we usually don't treat other vehicles as having people in them, we treat them like objects. I can't see any easy solution to this problem, but as with most things, the first step towards fixing it, is realizing the problem exists.
There is no solution in this world, period. As long as people are individuals there will always be people who are bad actors that are willing to crush and destroy others in order to get what they want. No matter how many laws we make, no matter what punishments we enact this will always be an immutable fact of the world, because you cannot force another human being to subscribe to whatever standards of morality you have and you cannot force them to learn something they don't want to learn. This isn't a popular thing to say in a world where opinions are held higher than truth, but the only solution to these problems *must* come outside of humanity, and must come from someone greater than humanity. This is why the founding fathers of the United States understood that faith is essential to the United States remaining a free and moral society. The only solution we have is to look to God our creator, because only he is perfect and only he can make humanity better through his son Jesus.
Well... that's *your* opinion. ^_~ No, seriously I agree with you. And something else about this Culture War that more (most?) people need to realize- It is not between Democans or Republicrats, it is not between The Left or The Right, it is not even between Liberals or Conservatives. This struggle is actually between those who believe that personal feelings and power are the final arbiters of 'truth' (and if you have the power, you make the truth) and those who acknowledge that there is an Objective Reality that exists independently of us & does not change to suit our fancy.
@@torikazuki8701 I wholeheartedly agree with what you're saying, although I would say that the issue is more nuanced than that. These emotionally driven people would not get very far on their own because their views simply don't hold up to reality. They are in large part the front line force that is being manipulated and used from the shadows by those that wish to topple America and create a power vacuum. As I see it there are two different factions working in unison to destabilize America, but who are in competition for taking its place when the dust settles. On the one hand you have the Chinese Communist Party, who seeks world dominance because they just want power, and on the other hand you have the people like George Soros and Bill Gates who are arrogant enough to think that they are smarter than everyone else and know what's best for everybody. From there you have influencers in the United States who are willing to sell out the American people either for ideological reasons or for personal gain. What we're seeing now is the culmination of decades of work through infiltration of all of our institutions, from academia to politics and everything in between. They have gotten into the financial sector, they have gotten into churches and schools and medical boards and so many other places. Of course, they are in other countries as well, but the United States has been the primary target because of the amount of influence it holds and also because our form of government makes things much more difficult. Even now the MAGA movement is crippling the influence these people have in the United States, though at this point we've gone way too far to avoid the coming disaster and can only mitigate it.
War already showed this, people who want billions when you need roughly 5 million for one life showed this. Twitter isn't showing anything new. Religion itself is the height of this. There is no solution because even if you hide it people feel these things still. There is healthy steps to reduce the negative impact. Sites have hard filters, political things require you to check a box to see them. Adult content is much the same, check a box and prove you're an adult. Expose less people to the intensity and in turn less people get intense themselves. The people who are deeply into politics can simply not check the box and won't be dragged into a spiral while if they check it what can you do for people who willingly drink or smoke except offer them an out and place rules to protect others from them.
The story of Noah honestly explains a lot, the way the site was built of off betrayal and abuse, is a site that is used by like minded people, it's like a poetic purpose of Twitter to be horrible
THIS is why I swore to never touch twitter. I'm an artist and a writer working on a webcomic right now, which is basically my passion project, and I'm scared that if I dare post about it people will cancel me and my work for stupid reasons and misinformation.
I'd say at this point every social media should be treated as fiction and should have a banner at the top saying "nothing here is real, so don't include your private life"
Social media originally was to be anonymous but it was in a time where you could have freedom that you never had in the real world , but alas now it’s the other way around
7:53 as someone who’s still a tommy fan, his breakdowns on stream because of twitter and the fact that he had to go to therapy for it was actually heartbreaking. He’s one of the most genuine people you can find on youtube now, and he hasn’t changed his style or opinions at all. Love him so much man.
3:17 this is kind of annoying but I genuinely want to know; when someone says “you can’t do X because that belongs to X culture”, I’ve always asked, “but isn’t stopping someone from doing something they like because of their race, also racist?” And the answer is always, “no, because they are doing something from another culture without understanding it’s significance or history.” Which definitely makes sense, but if you’ve then explained to them the cultural history and significance, don’t they _now know_ about it and are no longer “appropriating” it? Wouldn’t that now no longer be racist if they’re not doing it to offend, diminish, or naturalize another culture, but rather just because they like that aspect of another culture? If you love your culture and your history, wouldn’t you _want_ it to be spread to other people who can appreciate it, rather than gatekeeping it from other people because of their race? And how come it’s only for certain things? I’m not Asian, is it appropriation if I make sushi? I’m not Asian, is it appropriation if if I watch anime? I’m not Middle Eastern, is it racist if I meditate or do yoga? And when it comes to the internet, how would you even know whether or not someone understands the cultural significance of something if you’ve never met that person? Like idk if I’m missing something but the whole idea of “don’t do that because some people of a certain race or culture do that” seems kinda dumb no? Why not just kindly educate them as to what it is they’re doing and let them be on their way?
I see it as it depending on *what* they're using or not using. For example, if someone wore a specific tribal head-dress only worn by native American chieftains, it probably wouldn't be okay, but a hairstyle really isn't in the same boat, and should be fine.
@@patrickbrinkworth9125 I never quite understood calling a HAIRSTYLE a culture. 👀 And some headdresses are recommended out of respect in some parts of the world. Women cover their hair in Ukraine and the Middle East to attend religious events, for example. A tourist would need to cover their hair to visit The Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Out of respect. Although wearing a traditional garment in a culturally insensitive manner is way more deserving of punishment than a hairstyle. You may as well say everyone dyeing their hair blonde (including me) are appropriating a culture lol. Same with ppl dyeing their hair blonde in Asia. Plus braids exist in all cultures.
You can’t even criticise something without being criticised yourself. I’ve seen people rant about certain issues that piss them off and then get responses like “if you really care, why don’t you complain when it happens to THESE people?”

The only good thing about Twitter are the memes, funny tweets, along with the positive and wholesome tweets. I'm glad I didn't use it growing up. I'm so disappointed that Twitter is the forefront site of getting art from artists in which the arts might not be found elsewhere, like on deviantart, artstation, pixiv, furaffinity, tumblr, newgrounds, etc. (Same issue with Discord) Booru sites aren't really helpful either If only there was some sort of advanced bot that could archive the tweets with art of artists (that might not write in their tweets anything, would just upload image) in efficient and comfortable way, had built-in image auto-search, could understand your preferences and had better system of search with operands and regular expressions, I'd then could forget about Twitter and finally would be free from spending my time away scrolling for what I need to fulfill my hunger for art and getting joy from it (all this joy is getting lessened by inefficient and uncomfortable way of searching)

I used to live in japan until I was 7. I had a best friend there and we lost contact because we had no social media at that time. Then I coincidently found him on twitter because of picture from our last summer. There's this thing: most east asians DON'T look like any of those bleached and clinically modified idols, plus, I'm half brazilian and he is from okinawa, we both have naturally brown-ish skin and we tan easily. In that pic, we basically spent our last weeks playing outside and we got completly sunburnt, plus, it was a bad quality camera against the sun. Then, some random idiot came from nowhere and started to argue and demand him to delect that picture forever, called him racist, called the entire east asia racists and etc, because according to them, that pic was black face and how we were "fetishizing black people's 'aesthetics'". Then they tried to proceed "educating" us on "how actual asians look like" (a bunch of models, idols and influencers, heavily makeuped, photoshoped and bleached) vs "racist asians trying to look black" (some non edited average people and even some blasian kids). What people find disgusting, what triggers them, what they find acceptable or not is a matter of opinion and belief. Opinions and beliefs vary drastically in globally society. UA-cam is social media, though. Anything that applies to Twitter also applies to UA-cam; there's an obvious and huge overlap between people who use Twitter and people who use UA-cam. You're still exposed to the same type of people with the same attitudes. Misinformation, hatefulness and whatnot are as rampant on UA-cam as they are on Twitter because the platforms complement each other. The only reason it doesn't feel that way is because of the algorithm. It knows what you like to watch so it keeps feeding you more of the same. If you watch Visual Ventures, you probably watch similar content made by sensible people and that's what UA-cam will keep recommending. You're not going to notice much of the degeneracy happening in other corners of UA-cam unless one of your favourite content creators brings attention to it.

The toxicity in genshin twitter is wild. There was this artist who created a popular boyband AU with the characters, and she got driven of the platform because she used the frase "freed from shackles" because people were claiming it was an offensive racial joke ..yeah idk either. She even apologized but that just made the harrassment worse somehow. Heck, she isn't american and I've seen people say that it is a common phrase were she's from.
Worst part? People still use her AU because it was that popular.

But if we're talking about horrible gacha fandoms, I feel like cookie run takes the cake, not because it's necessarily worse than genshin fandom, but because it's 10x times for stupider.. the main source of conflict is determining and harrassing people over cookie's races.. ethnical races. IDK I never used Twitter so I honestly have zero desire to be banned. As I would have to actually expose myself to that trash. If you don't want Twitter just get rid of it. You're the only one holding you back in this situation.
I avoid Twitter like the plague. Especially since I'm Autistic. Spending any amount of time on that cesspool can make me super angry because of the sheer negativity and toxicity. @@zeltzamer4010 The 16-45 female demographic are the ones who always attack men and blame "the White patriarchy" for most of their problems. I'm a POC and my last Twitter account was given a ban warning after telling another women around my age to "shut her **** up" on a post about college and technology. If anyone on Twitter shares a controversial opinion which happens to become popular, then that particular demographic will attack them with all sorts of contradictory tweets. There are some males (also known as involuntary celibates) who have similar thoughts against women and form some bias against them, but those accounts get banned and removed in a snap. As the video states, trauma art should NOT be posted and shared online, it's strictly a personal and private matter, even if not monitored by a therapist. There's vent art, but vent art is very tame and is meant to express and communicate a deep feeling through art, most of the time by a metaphor or an abstract concept that reflects what the artist is trying to express. But from what I've seen it's completely appropriate and does not involve showing anything disturbing like the "strawberry milk" person did, or strictly mentions the person's venting intention

@@mancave10369 In most cases it doesn't. Police will only take action if:
1. You or somebody is underaged and the victim is being sexually harassed (take this with a grain of salt because most law enforcers will say it isn't their problem)

No, seriously I agree with you.

Acting on an attraction to minors is illegal here. In Saudi Arabia, provided you are married to one, it's legal. Homosexuality is legal here, in Uganda, it's not. Engaging in these activities in any of the countries where they are banned can get a person killed. Everyone has opinions or beliefs, not everyone can accept everyone else's.

My best friend is a black woman and she says the same thing, like she sees it as a compliment and it doesn’t “cause pain” to people. I would see it as a compliment too if I were them. The other funny thing is that the people who get upset when “cultural appropriation” happens, they don’t care when it happens to white people (or Asian people too these days) (not that I mind people doing cultural appropriation). But I saw it on a TV show the other day, “The Mole”, they went to Australian Outback and they put on these outfits and I thought “that’s cultural appropriation!” But it must have been “OK” for them to do that because it white people they’re doing it to. Yea that’s crazy they did that to that little space buns girl omg.

What about UA-cam? It still counts as a social media platform
