I am in Franklin and virtually no damage. I'm so saddened like everyone else about the devistation in WNC. So thankful your place was spared. God bless.
Honestly, I was unaware that the weather had anything to do with Hurricane Helene. The last I heard was that it was gonna miss us, or mostly miss us, and that was on Thurday night. I got up on Friday morning to find the power out, a tree on the carport (both cars ok, though), and no idea that the worst of a hurricane was happening right then. I had to go to the doctor and get my medicine, so without having a clue, I headed out. Every town around us had major flooding, but we lucked out more than most. Yeah, I'm an idiot and should have at least tried to check the weather before departing, but the thought of going without my medicine the whole weekend, especially with no guarantee when or if the power was coming back on anytime soon I chanced the 10 minute drive. If the storm had been just a little bit more to the left or right I fear my day would have gone much differently. I didn't find out that it actually was Helene until about 3 days later. I had a feeling it was, but everyone I talked to said it was just rain meaning they were just as clueless as I was.
The National Weather Service sent extremely serious alerts, but who would imagine that? I'm sure not everyone heard those alerts without access to information.

Glad your safe!
Oh my goodness, what a storm.
This is where people went to avoid hurricanes, no one could have known it was going to be that bad, it's never happened before !
That's right!

Glad you were safe. Where are you located in relation to the city of Asheville?
I live in the City of Asheville
I guess you’re a deep sleeper…😳
Also, none of the trees around my house fell.
