I've lived my entire life in WNC. I think we are all still in a state of shock this happened. My dad also survived, but will always be traumatized with what he saw. Including his friends house floating down the river, and a herd of cattle floating down the river as well. He found out later it was 75 cattle in total a farmer lost. I hope we never see flooding like this ever again.
William Cohen announced publicly, in 1997, that the American Corporation has weather modification technology. Wake up folks. It's all out there if you take your blinders off, sorry to have to tell ya.
So sorry about your dad‘s car and truck, but like you said, I’m glad he wasn’t in it. I’m glad he made it through this horrific flood. I’m also glad you’re OK too. My prayers are with you and your family on your long road to recovery. I will be praying for you guys for a long, long time, sending much love to you from Yulee Florida
I heard the water coming off the mountains BEFORE Helene hit, saturating the mountains, starting the flooding as Helene hit, was more water than what goes over Niagara Falls in a day. It’s no wonder so much has been wiped out and so many lives lost and so many lives forever impacted by this “unusual” storm. We need to see this. The geography has been totally and forever changed. What has impressed me is how supported folks have been toward each other in your area. I wish it was the same here.
In the flood of 77 the water came up over the hood of my dad's 2 cars. I drained the oil, coolant, transmission and rear end, and replaced it with new. We washed the outside and cleaned the inside and he used them for another 10yrs.
His truck has GOT to be out here somewhere. Love the accent bro. Don't forget to Vote, know you guys are picking up the pieces and it doesn't seem that important but it is.
It has to be tough to see your old stomping grounds looking that way . When you are a old man you will be telling these stories to your grand younguns . And still be able to see it the old way and the way it has changed everything now , like it was yesterday. Keep on keeping on . Stay strong , you got this .
I've grew up in a rural area like you. Grew up fishing and hunting with my family and still do when I can. I just want you to know my heart breaks for your community's. Done what I could to donate to reliable organizations to help and continue to keep you all in prayers. Please know there are thousands of Americans who care.
🙏🏻🙏🏻 so heartbreaking and unimaginable for all that you’re going through. So glad you survived and I pray that God restores all that you lost and more. Lots of love and prayers for everyone impacted by this storm.
North of Asheville, i find myself doing the same thing. I am just dumbfounded.....it is unreal. I believe we all are still in shock over what we are seeing and been through. Its unimaginable.
The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’
God bless you & your family. After watching videos from across the states I've never seen flooding like this starting @ the top of your beautiful mountains & hurricane so far in. It breaks my heart for youall but we've been praying for youall everyday. Oregon here! Praying youall can get back to some kind of normal. You did a great video. God bless you & yours.
I never knew water could be that powerful! I’m 62 and have never been to NC, but my heart breaks for y’all! I’ve been to the hills of Tennessee! My moma was born there. God Bless you and your pops!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
We are so sad for you all experiencing this horrific devastation. Such good people, you don'tdeserve this. In our daily thoughts and prayers. We visit up there from north FL every year. Breaks our hearts. Keep the faith. It will get better. Hugs 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💙😞
Folks just don’t seem to realize how beautiful these areas that were literally wiped off the face of this earth are/ were & will be one day again…Also not realizing how powerful flood waters are, until they’re “knee deep/ chest high, or over their heads in it!! Just glad your “Pops” & countless others made it out okay…For those countless others less fortunate souls: My most humble, heartfelt prayers & condolences go out to your families. 🙏🙏
The only way I know it’s a ram is because the stock wheels are the same as my truck and the center console has the ram logo. I am really glad his dad was not in the truck or the car.
Sitting here in Florida and saw this. We used to swim at the place called white rock in Wyatt town. I lived with my Grandmother across the hill in Double Island. My prayers go out to all there, that are struggling with this storm aftermath.
This will take 10 years to stabilize- toxic pollutants- millions of tons of debris.... and the possibility of eventual American Human Habitat Loss. These events were happening the same week and weeks after in Germany, Italy, Mexico- with devastating flooding and Death. The Country is with North Carolina.
Yeah, we live on a creek just a bit smaller than that one in central TN. It was hit with the "1000 year flood" in 2010, and so much trash ended up around the creek and on our property. I still find plastic trash in the woods. It's not nearly as much a concern as human life, but it's worth the work to reduce the plastic an other potentially toxic stuff in and around the river. It's *so much easier* to do in the months following the flood, than years later.
@FLPhotoCatcher look what just happened in Valencia, Spain- a years worth of rain in 8 hours 160 dead as of 11/ 1 / 24/ devastating and will happen again
My sister’s up in Sugar Grove… they were blessed with little damage on their place. God bless you and protect you! May you get back more than you lost.
I'm glad you found what you were looking for. Thank you for sharing your trek. I can see why you all love your mountain. Even in the devastation, I can see the beauty peeking through. Looks like the search and rescue people needed to express their heart and put the teddy bear up where he could dry off and if someone came looking for it, that would be a wonderful moment and the rocking chair as if someone could still come and enjoy a sunrise and watch the calm water once again. Very symbolic of moving on. 🥰🥰 God be with you...
Aloha from Hawaii. Im retired out here now for 6 yrs. I grew up in Shelby. My moms side was born there. My grandmother is buried in Cherokee. I rock climbed and camped all around up there by BatCave, Chimney Rock and Montreat. I took my 3 lil kids at the time back to Shelby about 32 yrs ago. I took them up to Chimney Rock and bought them fudge and pepper jam and stuff. After HS i joined the USN. Got married 40 yrs ago and moved to Colorado. I am glad i took my kids back there. My mom and her side have all passed. I still love and miss NC. I was the first one to repell down Malcolm E Brown Auditorium at Shelby HS back in 1977 lol. Be safe youall and God bless!
So much damage and destruction, yet your photos show the stunning beauty I remember of that part of the country. Blessings to you and your family as you rebuild your lives.
My takeaway is, this sure makes me appreciate the real things in this world like family and nature.. family bonds last our lifetimes, but material things cannot outlast that. Nature is a wonder, even when it's not wonderful. Much love to you folks there in WNC.
I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the amount of rainfall this hurricane was able to deliver to NC! I have never seen a hurricane move that far inland and do what this one did! We get the weather from ones that hit Texas, Louisana and Mississippi here in central southern KY and never has one dumped that mush rain! The disaster of this is leaving everyone in shock! Glad and thankful that your family survived it!
I live outside Raleigh, and I drive from the coast to Raleigh and to Charlotte on the regular for my job. It's mind-blowing just how far inland this is.
Looking at all the videos of devastation makes one wonder just how much trauma and anguish can the heart & the mind cope with... My heart sends love and light out to all the victims of this evil manifestation on their land. Try not to think more than getting through the day you wake up to. It is just so overwhelming.❤
Unreal devastion. Thank God your dad made it but so sorry for all of the loss and heartache. You all have been in our prayers daily. You are not forgotten or alone.
Thank the Lord your father wasn't in his truck! That's crazy how smashed up the truck and car are... At least you've got video footage to show the insurance company. It's amazing what the rampaging water has done. The river looks so peaceful now, and it's clearing and is just beautiful with the greens and blues... I'm so sorry that you folks have had to suffer through Helene. Wishing you all a speedy outcome in getting things cleaned up, cars replaced, homes repaired, and your lives back closer to "normal." 💝 Hugs from Texas
I'm not familiar with the channel, and when I saw the title, I just started crying. I thought something worse had happened BUT he made it!! With grace and mercy and help from the Lord. In a time like this, I imagine you would need the Lord to guide you. Thank God for the survivors... everything else is replaceable ❤❤❤
9:53 that's why they did this for the mines. The government is realizing up north in the south like us in Florida you're landlocked in some really rural areas. We're so tired of rebuilding in Florida. I have prayed since 07 and contacted VA , TN, and ga emergency Management to see if plans were in place for something like we have in Florida. As of this year you're now seeing the answer I got which was no. Y'all have to stick together in these kinds of times. Govt is just going hard as ever at we the people who mostly work mind our own business and try to live simple lives. But they want us dependant on them. It's a terrible way to live every storm season. I wish y'all the best this just breaks my heart for y'all especially because I truly believe this one and Milton were man made. Once the tech companies realized what was in those mines you guys became a 🎯. 😢 God bless y'all
I am so sorry for what you all are going through. My heart breaks for all who have suffered loss from this destruction. My prayers are continuing for all affected by the hurricanes. I was greatly impressed and appreciate the fact that you used no profanity through the whole video. Not the norm anymore but respected and valued by me as a Christian. Continuing prayers for you all.
Yep, you had us scared for a bit. Till you said you hoped to take something back to him. WHEW!!! That's what my heart said. Tell your Pop, things don't matter, we can't take them with us when we go. Just cherish the memories! And I know YOU are so glad you still have him!! Godspeed to better days! Big HUGS to your family!! 💖💖
Dude you said a mouthful when you referenced the power of water. Thinking about all you folks up there. Here in upstate SC we had a lot of wind damage but very little flooding. Be safe up there. 👊👊
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this honest video with us! You have shown the devastation up close without any frills. My heart hurts with y’all. My Grandparents lost their historic home to a flood here in NE Georgia on the Tallulah River in the late 1960’s. We still have some flooding every year, but not that bad. Georgia Power Co. controls our lakes, dams, and rivers, so we common folks have no clue what will happen. So happy that you Dad is okay. You are a good Son! May God bless you all! ✝️
Best have my life than the material things. Glad he survived. That was an unspeakable storm I've never heard of before, other than the one that hit Florida, back in 92, (Andrew) and then 2005 Katrina. Now Helene stalling over the N.C and Tennessee, mountains and poured some 40 trillion gallons of water down on you all! Glad you found this truck.
Even with the devastation we can see what a paradise this area must have been. I hope the healing power of Mother Earth brings a level of beauty to the new normal of your future. People keep saying things can be replaced but be sure that we do know how devastating it can be to lose everything. Those that died have moved on to a place of no pain. Those that survive are truly traumatized and are left to pick up the pieces of lives that are forever changed.
I feel so bad for anyone who was devastated by the hurricanes. I could not imagine the pain of the horrific loss. I wish I could be there to help. All of you are in my prayers.
Thank God your father is alive and safe. So horrible seeing all the destruction that took place from that terrible storm. I hope and pray every victim of this catastrophy gets restored tenfold.
Please let your Pops know that I am deeply sorry for what has happened to you and everyone experienceing this disaster. May God Yahuah bless you, may his face shine upon you and give you peace.
So heartbreaking. . .what you all are going thru. Hope it lifts your spirits even just a little to know how many hearts go out to you and how many are praying for you, your family, neighbors, and also for your dad's truck now too. I know you're strong. Keep yourself and your loved ones safe, ok?
What a mangled mess thank God your Dad was not in that truck!! God Bless you and help you to take care all the clean up and keep you strong moving forward.
So sorry. Water can change the landscape. It is going to be like this now. Next year new grass will grow, new green foliage, a few more years and it will get greener and cover some of it up. We are experiencing a very mini version of this in Central New Mexico with the wildfire and the flashfloods in the burn scar areas. Water washes away the dirt and leaves rocks and boulders. It doesn't go back to what it was, it will stay looking this way. A forest can still be beautiful after a wildfire and flood, I've learned that.
I don’t know a way to describe the feeling when I see piece of furniture sitting by itself perfectly upright, waiting for someone to have a sit down and observe the surroundings. Being an observer of unreal reality, so calm asking yourself did we just experience devastation. Is the mind playing with us. Some might label it disassociating. Thanks for the video. You are correct the power of water a destroyer and giver of life.
We are hearing the count for the missing is 1,000. My daughter lived in NC and I’ve stayed with her and drove numerous times right through Asheville going to and from Texas. I always drove that route as it’s safe and beautiful. I’ve been in Texas when we’ve had floods and they will rip your clothing right off your body. Dumpster going where roads were. We always had a back up plan where to go if it rains and floods. I’ve lived on the river most of my life and even now. When I hear oh it hasn’t flooded here. I tell them that means nothing. I know to head for high ground. I did pray for everyone and I know it takes a long time after this devastating flood to become normal or semi normal.
Im really sorry theres nothin left, but at least you found it/them. Some haunting pictures there. How high up to the bank does the river normally go? At least you guys are safe. I feel so bad for all of you. Gonna be a long time before ppl put this in the back of their mind. Im having a hard time doing it, and im in midwest. Have donated and will again when i have some extra. Doesnt happen often.....God bless yall❤
I can’t even begin to speak about what I’m seeing. My heart going out to y’all. We have had some serious flooding in areas. But how it went and took everything in its path with a force I have no comprehension of. I see so much debris. On one of our rivers here that flooded the trees had a big white bucket and black sheeting hanging 10 feet above the road way. from the branches. Took a while to figure out what the black stuff was. Sheeting they put under houses to protect from moisture. A bridge washed out. Flooded farms. But yours has like you said a canyon and truck loads of debris. Plus all the other tragic loss of life.
So glad your dad made it out
TRUCKS AINT CHEAP HOPE YOUR COMPENSATED FOR BOTH
The truck could be a good winter rebuild project, if you can get it home.
🙏
Horrifying the damage these storms did. Thank
God, your dad lived through it.
I was wondering about his Dad and if he was ok… so thank you sharing that good news❤️❤️🙏🙏
I've lived my entire life in WNC. I think we are all still in a state of shock this happened. My dad also survived, but will always be traumatized with what he saw. I have cried and cried and prayed for our mountains and the people out mountains are my peace
PTSD is real 😢
That wasn't just a 100 year flood, it was a 10,000 year flood.

3 dams full of water were released in addition to rain fall.
I knew it! Thank you both!
geoEngineer said it was the equivalent of TWO years worth of NIAGARA FALLS water in Two hours!!
In the flood of 77 the water came up over the hood of my dad's 2 cars. I drained the oil, coolant, transmission and rear end, and replaced it with new. We washed the outside and cleaned the inside and he used them for another 10yrs.

Can’t do that with these modern vehicles.

there has never been one elected president in the entire history...they get selected not electected, i really feel for your !ow I .Q....
More important than ever before !we must get Trump in and this regime OUT
Glad your Dad wasn't in either vehicle ❤❤❤
Glad you found Pop's truck, or what's left of it. The power of water is frightening. Stay safe. Prayers for all of you, from Michigan. ❤ 🙏🇺🇸💪

My heart was so heavy watching this. 💔
What a snap shot of what the storm did to so many families God bless you and your family sir So very very sad
What a gorgeous area -- and to think of the awful destruction. I agree: it was unreal.
The amount of water in that flood was just unreal. I'm sorry you all had to go through that.
Im so glad you found them. Im thanking the good Lord you and Dad are safe. Praying for you all. Im so sorry this happened and our government sucks.
Ty for sharing. ❤. Continued prayers
Please let your Pops know that I am deeply sorry for what has happened to you and everyone experienceing this disaster. May God Yahuah bless you, may his face shine upon you and give you peace.
My condolences to you and your father. It is heartbreaking to see. We can’t comprehend this; it’s beyond our worst imaginations.
Our hearts ache watching what yall have been through. May God be with you in the long recovery.
So heartbreaking. . .what you all are going thru. Hope it lifts your spirits even just a little to know how many hearts go out to you and how many are praying for you, your family, neighbors, and also for your dad's truck now too. I know you're strong. Keep yourself and your loved ones safe, ok?
It really shows the true powers of mother nature. Father I pray for all the people going through this disaster, In Jesus Name Amen 🙏
What a mangled mess thank God your Dad was not in that truck!! God Bless you and help you to take care all the clean up and keep you strong moving forward.
So sorry that you all are having to go through this. We are praying for you in Southwest TN. ❤🙏❤
Thank you
Praying for miraculous blessings for all of you🙏🏼
So glad you found , both the truck and the car . Be safe and please keep updating us here .
Thankful You Found It!!! GOD BLESS & THANKS FOR SHARING!!! 🙏❤️🙏
The good news is that your Dad is alive. Trucks and cars and “stuff” can be replaced. People can’t. Hug. Your family a little tighter!
New to the channel, what's the name of that river ? thanks for sharing
In better times, that would be a nice walk on the old RR row.
Other videos have said the rivers there are normally only 2 feet deep.
