I'm probably your oldest subscriber (70 yesterday!), but I wanted to say, please never apologize for who you are - you are wonderful!! I enjoy your decorating tips and shopping adventures, but I watch because I enjoy your personality so much!!
Hi, Caroline. I was amazed by the framed watercolor you show at 13:19 because I recognize the place in the painting. It is Passau, Germany, a city close to my home. If you search images for the title of the artwork, "Donaulände", you will find photos showing the river cruise ships as well as the buildings and steeples that form the skyline. Donaulände means Danube Park, and there are several places with this name dotted along the river. Passau is one of the most famous ones because three rivers merge together there, and Linz, Austria, is another one. I just thought you might like to know a little about the art you chose. I'm originally from Massachusetts, but moved to Austria in '94, near Linz, and I have been to Passau many times! Love your channel and enjoy your commentary. Keep up the great work.
had to stop to see it again closely as well - I'm Austrian and lived in Linz for some years and was not sure in which angle that could be Linz...so thanks for saving me time to search for where this Donaulände is at :)
I’m 6’2 and I hang things high because it’s my house, I’m the one looking at it, and I don’t want to stare at the top edge to accommodate the rest of the world 😂
1st...as a government employee who leaves work every day at 2:30...just be aware I start work at 6am. LOL! Also the low glass bowl used as a vase is so gorgeous. Love your eye for unusual pieces being used in unusual ways. It's what makes your personal traditional style pop for me. Love you and your stuff. Keep posting. You are amazing.
Lisa Martin, my condolences for all the Saturday mornings you didn't get to sleep in. My dad worked for the Department of the Interior in the 70s and 80s, but at least in that job he still got Saturdays & Sundays free. Take care of you!!

Hello Caroline, Had a fun time thrift shopping with you today. And, I must say, the way you wrapped frames around that corner by the FP was genius! Everything looks great!
@@Caroline_Winkler awwwwww, thank you Caroline, too sweet! And I did watch the 1st part of the bedroom makeover at your Mom's. I had actually seen it before and really like it. And wow, all those trophies. But am not surprised! You are undoubtedly superior at anything you put your mind to. Looking forward to seeing Part 2 of the makeover. Loved the mirrors above the nightstands!!! And a good tip about making a room look larger. You go girl!
Omg you were in my neighborhood!!! I live in Old Town and absolutely adore it there. Next time you go, I’d recommend checking out the Torpedo Factory by the riverfront! It’s a great to shop original art pieces directly from the artists at a variety of price points (they sell originals as well as prints and printed canvases that usually run for much cheaper). Such an incredible array of artistic styles too. I’m gonna have to check out Henry Street Antiques now! 😁
OMG you crack me up!!! A+++++!!!! Be who you are….the ruder the better!!! I’m with you!!! Stop disclaiming just say it!!! I’m not offended and I truly can’t stop laughing. We need more people like you….at least you’re working past 2:00!!! Nuff said!!!! 😏 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Hi Caroline! I discovered your channel about a month ago and you are exactly what the world needs. It makes me happy to see your subscriber count grow literally every day! I worked at Goodwill for longer than I care to admit but we always had a staggering amount of artwork. A lot of 90s still life's and what looked to be failed 4th grade art projects. But every once in a while, there would be a nice watercolor or vintage print or clown portrait. Never knowing what you'd fine was definitely part of the allure for a lot of people
"Look at me assuming I'm going to heaven." 😂 Loved this video. And I also share your love of vintage glassware. Also, I'm betting Paul was thrilled that a young person appreciated his items. Don't feel guilty!!

Thrifting is my jam, and it happens almost every weekend, it's what I grew up doing and I love my finds. I would say the majority of what I own both clothing and decor is acquired through a thrift store or antique. I like your humor it's the one reason why I subscribed
Loved the flowers and the fact that you took these apparently so-so objects and made them beautiful in your apartment. The way you arranged things on the wall, gorgeous.
Yo now i know why i am obsessed (in a healthy way obvsly) with you - your grandfather - the austrian. I am austrian. i dont know why i said yo i never say yo, but here we are. love you bye also be ruder and funnier okay bye

Can I just say you've been a breath of fresh air. I'm 67 been decorating and redecorating my whole life, just ask anyone that knows me. You candid approach is youthful, inspiring, and real. We all have our stuff to deal with. Keep up the good work!
Love, love, love your videos! ☺️💖 Born and raised in DC and it’s just so much fun to see you out and about in the DMV. I enjoy your style very much. I need more art in my life! - Your arty “Aunty” in MD. 🦀 🖼
I just subscribed. I live in Canada and love interior design. I’m 79 y/o and enjoy decorating my condo. You have such good taste. Nice job choosing your artwork and hanging it just right. You are so genuine. Really enjoyed this video. Look forward to more. Thanks 🤗
I couldn’t wait to watch this video, Caroline! You’re just so enjoyable to watch. I’m thrilled that you had a successful day. You made every piece work beautifully into your living space. I love the low vase on the coffee table, and the art pieces and maps are lovely. I’m sure you will be going back to that store, so no need to feel guilty. You are too funny! I look forward to any future videos, created at your own pace.
Hi Caroline, I just subscribed to your channel based on a recommendation from Paige Wassel. I wanted to say I immediately loved your channel. Your personality and style are so refreshing. I will be binging all your content and happy to have found your channel
I live in the DC metro area. I like the Antique Emporium on Prince St in Frederick, MD, the antique store on Broad St in Falls Church, and antique markets at the Dulles expo center. I find Alexandria a bit pricey for antiques. I will try these shops you visited, though.
I lived in your neighborhood 30 years ago & used to shop for cheap vintage furniture on Columbia Rd. in Adams Morgan. Probably not so cheap now. Great design tips mixed with introspection. 😀
Loved the video and all of your art finds Caroline. You hung/arranged then beautifully ! You may also like downtown /historic Frederick , Md! Not far from dc and plenty of antique shops/emporiums (lots of places to eat as well). Also, you may like 2nd Ave thrift superstore in laurel, md!
I'm sure Paul from Henry's Antiques would tell you he's running a shop and not a museum. Not only was he able to make the sale, he scored an A+ recommendation and possibly a repeat customer. While the other shops had lovely things, they didn't make the sale. I guess I'm recommending that you let go of your guilt. They were able to make some money, you got a deal that made you happy and your place looks great. It's a win-win-win.
Corner wall art display is genius. But more than that I appreciate you are willing to say things are outside your current budget AND the things you’re buying are also actually in a lower price range. Frustrating watching videos that suggest they are cost conscious and then they’ve been gifted the $5k bed frame or the $2k mattress... like you said some things are out of my budget and that’s ok I understand why but I def appreciate not feeling like I’m living in poverty cause I can’t afford the $5k bed frame... I mean I guess I am living in poverty lol but I don’t need youtube to remind me. And you should absolutely not hold back on ur funny, honest, sarcastic, dry wit personality- I would feel exactly the same way about not wanting to offend people but... then they don’t need to watch. I can’t imagine you would say anything intentionally cruel just to be malicious and truly I feel like we need to remember people are human- things get taken out of context and sometimes people say things in the moment that are upsetting to others- it happens. No one is perfect and hasn’t said something at some point that offended or upset some1 else- it may just not have been broadcast. It’s your channel- do your thing your way.
Was sitting on the couch watching this video sick with a cold/flu, and had to get off my ass and tweak my gallery wall above my couch cause all I could hear was you saying “negative space” 🖼️
love the video, was surprised to recognize one of the pictures (the very long one) as being of the bridge to the beach in my home town of Duxbury, Mass, I wonder how it wound up in DC?
I seriously love your videos! I too am working towards being more offensive towards people, 😂 I have an issue with being too nice and allowing people to take advantage of me,...a gift my saint of a mother passed down to me...but I'm so over it, and at the age of 30, as a mom of 3, I feel like it's about damn time I learn to speak my mind and become less concerned with people getting upset with me. Thank you for sharing yourself with us all, your videos so much fun to watch! ❤️
I could not wait to get back home today for your video. Loved shopping with you. Keep doing you and tell everyone else to 'stay in their lane'. You always make me laugh. Have a great week Caroline. 😀
AYYYY THE SWEET LITTLE WATERCOLOR IS PASSAU!!!! I am originally from South Florida but wanna hear something weird?? I have lived in passau 3 separate times!!!!! Once as an Au Pair, once as an English Teacher and once as a masters student!!!!! Isn’t that crazy! So freaking weird to see Passau randomly in this video. Wow. Those cruise ships pictured are literally overflowing with American tourists who are doing a cruise up the Danube, maybe even going all the way up to Vienna? And they call Passau the ‘Venice of Bavaria’ because when it rains a lot the water in the three rivers that surround the peninsula rise and the lower streets get flooded and they have to put down little bridges to cross over the ‘rivers’. That was the cute story I was told when I moved there in 2012. Flash forward to May 2013 when the whole city FLOODED and soooo many homes and businesses were absolutely destroyed for the most flooding they had had in 100 years! Ahhhhh passau. I love you.
So happy you took some time off. Your eye for decor is amazing- constantly learning from you. Never apologize for who you are. We are here BECAUSE of who you are! Fantastic video as always!
I found this video at exactly the right time. I live in Maryland and just finally moved into my own apartment so thrifting is very much on my horizon. I’m using this as a personal recommendation
Omg. You killed it big time on this thrift hunt. I'm here in Toronto with my two nieces watching you thrift so we watch til the end and we are out!😄😄 Goodwill 5 minutes away hope to find half as good a haul as you! And yes when I find a yard sale where they have items priced way too low I tell them to charge more as I feel so guilty like I'm robbing them😄
Maybe it’s the magic of editing or maybe the paint color works with all the tea stained (sepia-?) colored art- love it! Thanks for sharing your process! Thrift store scores are worth the wait 💫
I love hanging out and thrifting with you from my sofa!! Do you ever research the artists of items you purchase? You doing a great job, thanks for hanging out. 🤗💖
Caroline: An A+ for ALL your efforts ... LOVE your choices and the way you hung everything; you have a great EYE 👁️ for design girl! Love your dry wit and a bit of Snark - don't stop! Love from Southern California ... 🏖️
Don't worry about offending people on UA-cam. Here's my take, if you're offended than Don't follow that channel!! Anyway I think you are great! Loved this video and all the awesome artwork. May have to take a trek down to VA and check out Paul's shop! Thanks for sharing!
That was a fun shopping trip. So glad you didn’t get any clown pictures! I was a little skeptical about your selections, but once you put everything together, it was fabulous as always!
I look forward to your videos. I get such a kick out of you...you're great, keep the videos coming! Thanks, Lois (excuse my post saying 'Bob', that's my husband)
Great video! I have found some very nice frames at Goodwill for just a few dollars. I buy them even if I don’t have a picture in mind to use them for at the time. They always get used at some point. I’ve recently had several original watercolors professionally framed, and the price for that is soooo expensive. So thrifted is the way to go for sure. I live near D.C., I’ll have to check out some of the places you visited. Your little gallery walls turned out very nice.
Oh, yes--the balance of introspection and fury. I donate and shop at Goodwill. It's very pleasant and easy to donate there, and I appreciate that. When I'm shopping there, I try to have in mind the cost of things in real life. More than once I have seen a used item priced for more than it costs at Target (or somewhere else).
I appreciate so much that you openly talked about loving some pieces and understanding their value but just not being in the budget “right now”. So many design influencers I follow have a huge budget compared to me and it creates some unrealistic expectations and I will admit it, some jealousy on my part! It’s nice to see a real human doing design :) ps. Please be more rude and funny, we’re here for it lol
I'm probably your oldest subscriber (70 yesterday!), but I wanted to say, please never apologize for who you are - you are wonderful!! I enjoy your decorating tips and shopping adventures, but I watch because I enjoy your personality so much!!

I love you.
Your passionate discussion on how your art is hung totally pulled me in within the first 3 mins. Girl, I’m subscribed! Love your energy!!!
So happy you took some time off. Your eye for decor is amazing- constantly learning from you. Never apologize for who you are. We are here BECAUSE of who you are! Fantastic video as always!
Yup, skip those scary clowns
Yes! This is the vid I've been waiting for! Thank you! 🙂
I know, it’s been long requested!❤️
"We are looking inward: we are screaming outward." Brilliant choice of words for the human condition.
I am also "by impulse only", please and thank you haha
I am in the DC area and will def be visiting Henry St. Antiques so no more guilt!!
I found this video at exactly the right time. I live in Maryland and just finally moved into my own apartment so thrifting is very much on my horizon. I’m using this as a personal recommendation
I love how you put on hand sanitizer after being in a thrift store. I do the same.
I’ve missed you this week!! Love hanging out with you with my coffee! You are just too fun, just being you!
Just love your honesty!
Omg. You killed it big time on this thrift hunt. I'm here in Toronto with my two nieces watching you thrift so we watch til the end and we are out!😄😄 Goodwill 5 minutes away hope to find half as good a haul as you!
And yes when I find a yard sale where they have items priced way too low I tell them to charge more as I feel so guilty like I'm robbing them😄
K.James I'm here in bowmanville, Ontario east of Toronto on the 401
I freakin love your videos. Haha always feels like I’m chillin with a friend or were on the Marco Polo app
Ahh I love that so much. That’s how I feel!
Maybe it’s the magic of editing or maybe the paint color works with all the tea stained (sepia-?) colored art- love it! Thanks for sharing your process! Thrift store scores are worth the wait 💫
I live in alx and have never been to Henry st! Thanks for showing it I will definitely make a stop there!
O wow all the pictures you purchased and put up in your home were so pretty. I love them. Everything looks great 😊
I love hanging out and thrifting with you from my sofa!! Do you ever research the artists of items you purchase?
You doing a great job, thanks for hanging out. 🤗💖
Great choices you made. Your arrangements are so on point!!!
Very productive trip with some great finds. Once hung up, everything looks deliberate and like it's always been there. Good job...A+!
You should check out the Pink Cabbage in Elkridge, MD!
Did I see you in a 20/20 snippet about the past 2 years in the pandemic? 🤔
