I'm 61 and my husband passed in 2019, so for the first time since I was 19 I'm living on my own and back then I'd only had 1 apartment for 1 year that I had on my own...so I get the whole "me all the time" thing. It's taken me a bit to figure out what I like, what works solely for me, what system is mine. But, as much as I miss my dear husband, I kind of like it and I too wonder about my ability to compromise...not that I'm too worried about it at my age. I've been slowly redoing, refreshing room after room on a budget...so I really appreciated this video. I love your channel by the way...always looking forward to new videos.
That sounds like it’s been a huge transition for you, I’m really sorry to hear of your loss 😔❤️I’m sure it’s been a big adjustment and I’m glad you’re taking the time and space for yourself. Lots of love to you dear ❤️
My "pro tip" as an amateur flower designer/arranger is to invest in opaque vases (like that very pretty white fluted ceramic vase) as it can be used with floral foam inside to precisely hold your arrangement and keep the flowers hydrated. One can also strip off the lower leaves (which extends the freshness of the blooms) without making your arrangement appear to be floating on top of sticks in the clear glass. Clear glass is pretty in a bud vase with one stunning rose, but a large clear glass vase gets to be messy and even scary (what is that brown water?!) very fast.
I feel like the guiding principle for decorating on a budget should be to take your time. Buy good quality, timeless pieces that will last decades. No one needs to decorate a whole room in a month. If you really *need* something, but can't afford exactly what you want, buy it second hand, and wait. Most people who try to decorate on a budget fall into the trap of having to replace crappy furniture every few years, and they end up always having garbage from Target, IKEA, Walmart, etc. Do not assume your finances will be radically different, and put off decent decor until "someday." Scrimp and save, and buy it piece by piece. You'll save money in the long run not have to re-buy the same cheap looking Target couch over and over again. (You also avoid tacky trends that way, because you have to think really carefully about what you're going to like for the next twenty years, instead of the next three.)
Exactly! I'm currently moving to a new house, I will use my current shitty furniture from Amazon that I bought when I was a student, and wait until they fall apart to buy better quality stuff, especially in real wood, if possible second hand :)
This!! My family are still using the couch set my dad bought decades ago when he jokingly said he'd spend all of the money the made on a project on a sofa, then ended up getting more money than he expected. Sofa's still holding up well (a nice sofa cover helped). Definitely cheaper in the long run than three different sofa sets.
I would love a follow up video showing using all the things in your space, especially the pink plate set, and if the weight of those dishes felt right. Maybe any regrets or opinions on things that didn’t work out as well. I always buy stuff at IKEA that doesn’t end up the way I envisioned and also lots of stuff that ends up way better then I thought it would. I would love that kind of video. Thanks! I love your channel.
I'm a sucker for nice looking (and feeling!) silverware, mugs, glasses, dishes, towels, sheets, blankets, curtains, pillows.... anything that you interact with more closely, it just gives me the most joy and confort. furniture im more whatever but i can tell you everytime i drink tea out of my gradma's old china that i saved when she passed, it imediatly brings me peace. It being something that belonged to my grandma also plays a part but i have experienced this with lots of other items. I think most people experience this too but they dont realise this.
Your "pre IKEA" mental prep is 100% accurate. One time we went into IKEA to buy like one kallax shelf for our playroom, and I bought so many other things I wasn't sure it would all fit in our vehicle. Never again lol. I don't go without a list any more! The greenish oval dish is great for serving things like pork tenderloin or other grilled items like Italian sausage etc. It's also good for serving cookies, biscotti, or a veggie tray. It's a good size for small crowds, but that said, I think you were smart to pass. I prefer white serving dishes, all kinds of textures, but I stick with all white. It makes it easy when everything matches for parties. I add lots of color with flowers and table linens and things like that.
I also do the Ikea-Prep and bring my list, the measurements of my space and my own tape measure. I wanted to share that it is so reassuring to me, that I am not the only one who has this routine. I may also spend time ahead in their online shop, if I need some extra orientation. I could not make it through Ikea without prepping; that is a big store! 😉 Thanks for this!
I'm 68, have a house that's fully furnished (no trends, thank you!) and I love Ikea! Almost everything is so cute, and I did drop some dollars there. To furnish my guest bedroom, I gave myself permission to buy two white side tables to go with the 1970s maple full-size bed that I grew up with. It all looks so cute, and I'm glad to know, from a designer, that it's okay. New subscriber, love your channel and your outlook.
I always look in the "scratch and dent" area first. You just never know what you'll find. I got a teak etagere and bath bench years ago that Ikea doesn't produce anymore. I guess they were floor models because they were SO cheap (but otherwise in perfect condition). And I still use them and love them...15 years later.
I just love your design videos because each one contains at least a single comment that totally unlocks or re-frames a barrier I'd been circling around fruitlessly. The bit about the credenza not needing to bring down the house (or wtvr) led me to realize that my 4-drawer-all-white-composite-material-dresser-from-Target doesn't need ~elevation~ when it's already pulling its weight. It provides closed storage, a standing desk with a customized slide out keyboard rack, and a sturdy anchor for the other white elements in an otherwise black metal dominated room. Plus I'm now frothing rabidly for an interstate trip to Ikea, which is like the Montana equivalent of connecting to the internet for the first time after a decade of being raised as a feral child in the woods... Culture!
Caroline- HELL YES! I had no idea there are companies that make custom doors for ikea kitchens!! My hubby and I will be renovating our 122 year old home in the next few years and I will be keeping that in mind.
the op kingdom, sounds like you have a great home with lots of history, which would be a great subject for your own channel, featuring your renovation. Just my opinion.
I love IKEA. I get all cozy and warm feeling when I go there. Their curtains and sheer style panels are the best The quality is amazing and they are affordable. But the best thing for me is because they come so long, I can custom fit them to my weird size window heights in my home. I hang them, pin them and then hand sew the hems with a quick running stitch while still on the rod. I affixed a ring clip to one end at the top of the curtain and then attached a dowel rod with an eye hook at the top and use the dowel rod to open and close the panels. This prevents the panels from picking up any oils from my hands. The bottom pocket of the hem allows for curtain weights (or light weight chain or even extra butter knives) to be slipped in to keep the panels weighted down. Can you tell I’m very into IKEA curtain panels…. Frankly all their textiles are the bomb. I have two down comforters from them that have lasted me over 15 years.
There in Sweden we have lots of century old buildings with odd measurements such as three or four meter high walls and almost meter thick outer walls. That may have something to do with IKEA also having tall curtains available.
Several years ago, Consumer Reports did an issue featuring kitchen remodeling. Of the top five cabinet sources for good quality and value, IKEA, The Home Depot, and Lowe's were listed. If we ever remodel our kitchen, I would definitely go with IKEA cabinets. Also, if you do remodel a kitchen, save some of your old ones for the basement or garage storage.
The custom IKEA fronts made me super excited when I first discovered them. But when I started to look into the price I realised I might as well just buy a higher end kitchen instead. The fronts are so incredibly expensive in Norway!!
I did an Ikea kitchen. The difference in price between Ikea cabinets and kitchen design cabinets was huge. In Australia we don't have companies that do doors to fit ikea cabinets, but I purchased quality brass handles (online from the states) and they really elevated the look. I'm loving your videos 💕
Ok, but we need to talk about how much better you have made me feel about how I choose items for my space. Thanks for reminding me that it is a personal and creative thing, not a paint by numbers from IG thing.
Thank you. Caroline you don’t know how positively impacting this video has been for me in trying to be productive and working with depression. At 65yo severe fatigue and depression are common and this video was a huge help..!!
Dang girl, look at you with the sponsor! 😊 loved this little look into IKEA, really really loved their kitchen section!! I never even thought about the glassware being an 'experience' but now I really feel the need to get some proper glassware! Itll be nice to not have all plastic and mismatched cups 😅
The söderhamn couch is so comfortable!!! And I used to work for high end sofa company. I bought a used one and got a new velvet cover. Polished stainless steel is actually mirroring the floor and surrounding, so they blend in quite well.
I agree on going to Ikea in the off hours to keep your sanity! Also, on Ikea cabinets being a great affordable option and from my experience, they can withstand the test of time! I recently renovated my kitchen (replacing 30 year old ikea cabinets that were in great condition, but wrong layout) and used ikea boxes and custom doors and drawer fronts from Semihandmade. Love, love love the result! Pro tip ....get a twist ice cream cone on the way out. Their strawberry is superb and not too sweet ....and its only a buck!
Everyone and their granny visits IKEA at the weekend! Which can be fun, but quiet times there are truly lovely. There is something thereputic about IKEA. So many shops are just overwhelming and scarey expensive. I think my joy in IKEA are all the room layouts, the possibiities, in which I may never indulge, but are still a delight to see. What I really love about IKEA are the wee things I find, like the wooden (bamboo?) phone holders for £1.99 that are actually properly useful and make life better. Can NEVER leave IKEA without candles and sissors. Weird. I think in the middle of the night there is a march of the sissors back to IKEA because they are definitely NOT where I left them - hence always need more! That'll be where their real profits come from! Great shop.Great experience - they have definitely found a special formula that grabs me and makes me feel at ease and as if I could maybe pull together a room I can afford (AND that could look good too mixed and matched with heirlooms and secondhand treasures) Caroline, great self restraint, BUT I do think you should go back for the pretty pink glass dish - until you find your puppy it would be lovely holding fruit. Thankyou, fair enjoyed joining you on a wee shoping trip!
Really love what you said about making design work for your systems in life. Design can be pretty and still very practical as long as we know and acknowledge our habits and systems!
Holy cow, spacial anxiety is a great term for the difficulty I've had for years! Too many people I don't know in a confined space or bunched up together is a really rough one for me. The first time I went to an Ikea was on a busy Saturday and I almost had a panic attack, way way way too many people, all right on top of each other, and you can't escape! I literally had to go put myself in a corner where I couldn't see anyone and actively shut everything out for a few minutes to calm myself down. I've struggled a bit with going to Ikea since then despite liking a fair bit of their stuff. It sounds stupid but I'm really glad to hear I'm not the only freak that struggles with this, thank you Caroline!
I LOVE the way those bowls look-but then I envision myself loading them into the dishwasher. If you don’t need them to fit neatly into the dishwasher slots, then they would be awesome. But for a large family, those would fill up half the dishwasher.
Soooooo many UA-camrs have done shop at IKEA videos but you, girl, you do it right. Thank you! You shop, think, shop, process at IKEA like 90% of us do. “Come armed!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. So true.
Caroline you are such a breath of fresh air, love your sense of humour, your style, oh and you are my people with the simple shoppers and their simple trolley management, eeep! Keep being you and telling it like you see it.
I just discovered your channel recently and I love your strong opinions. You're so funny and eloquent. Every video I learn so many new vocabulary as an architecture student and artist from germany! Looking forward for more.
I love this video! Some videos on IKEA are just about spending money - it's a new season, time to get new furniture!!! That feels so wasteful. I love that this video is about budget, but more than that, it is about what fits you and your lifestyle ❤️
What fantastic bargins! Love that you aren't snooty. I was once in HOme Goods (LOVE HOME GOODS) and a lady was with her interior decorator. The guy said to his client, "you have a VERY expensive house, why could you want to fill it with cheap stuff." He was so stuck up. Then the client seemed intimidated.
I totally feel you on the possible inability to compromise once you live alone, lol. I LOVE it and cherish my sanctuary (work as a RN and need a place to decompress) and highly recommend it to everyone to do at least once before living/moving in with someone else. Glad you're able to spend this time doing you!
I've remodeled a couple of kitchens with Ikea cabinetry. Along with the relative ease of customization and installation, I really like living with the turntables that are available for the various corner cabinets they offer. Suddenly something that might get lost for years (or decades) shoved in the back of a cabinet, is front and center with a quick flick of the wrist!
Haha, I 100% agree that these cookies are the best ever! Ten years ago, I told a (then) colleague, who went to IKEA for some office updating, that they are worth a try. Guess who ended up getting said cookies next day ;) Oh, and a ring on the finger three years later. On that note: never worry about not being able to compromise enough for a relationship any more. Because you should never compromise on being you. Yes, making everyday life together work takes work and may mean that you have to do a thing or two differently for the sake of your partner's wellbeing. But never put the existence of a relationship over being yourself at the end of the day. Oh, and always only go for the guy (or girl) who brings you your favourite cookies.
I bought the pink Ikea dishes for my grandaughter who is leaving for college next month. (I even bought the pink Ikea toilet paper for her too!) She loved it all!
LOVED this video - I’m shopping for my new apartment and spent a whopping 5 hours in ikea a few weeks ago 🥲 so it was very validating seeing you point out some of the same things I was loving! Also, totally feel you about needing to go to ikea when there aren’t People Around (so many people just. don’t have as much awareness of the space they take up in stores as I would like them to lol)
I thought I would "help" and pass along an FYI...Don't know if you are going to remember being drawn to the rose tint plate with an edge...you had said you had no idea what to use it for... that is a cake or Flan plate. Flan is a Portugese / Latin dessert...it has a liquid sauce. (Go ahead and Google) another use is a plant humidifier (if the plate isn't too big or you have a LG plant that LOVES humidity) you put nice rocks/glass on the plate add H2O and put your plant on top. Volia a happy plant. Hope that helps!! What goes around comes around..you have helped me ..hope I helped back 👌😉
Found your channel recently and binge watched a bunch. I love how personal and chill you are. It's like going shopping with my best friend (who happens to be exactly like me). Also, totally random, but I love that you live in my "neck of the woods". There are so many youtubers that live someplace sunny all the time. Nothing personal, no hate to those people, just a rant from a 4 seasons state dweller. Keep up the good work!
100% with you re not being able to compromise - I don’t ever plan to live with any future partner. Better to have your own space and set special time aside to spend with them when you both have the energy and attention space the other deserves 🙌🏻 having your own space is good for the soooouuulllll!
Caroline: An amazing point - systems that keep you organized (beyond the kitchen, per se) in one's living space - "Because if you can't see the carpet [due to the clutter or paper/s on the floor] what's the point?!?" Ok - back to your video ... 🌃🌠⭐ P.S. Well, hello - again (LOL!) - Yes, the "living alone" thing is pretty sweet, and, I've certainly gotten used to it way more than I anticipated ... but in more ways than not - it's pretty flippin' great --- 😁 !!
Has anyone ever said that you are so like Jeniffer Aniston, seriously your vibe is so similar. I love your channel and your style. Best eyebrows ever too!
Agree on the Ikea sofas, it's a no long-term. We bought our Ikea couch when we first moved in but 7 years later we were able to splurge hard on a super comfy, deep seating, well made couch, non-foam sofa. Worth the wait. I loved so many finds you featured.
Great vid, Caroline. You take me back to my days in DC in the 80s, late 80s, please, single woman killing it! Keep it up and your channel’s bound to explode!
Absolutely hilarious and on point, love love love catching up with my new fave YT bestie on a Saturday morning ✨ I have not been to an ikea in a decade but damn, flatware gets me too and they had some cute stuff!
I LOVE my soderhamn lol. It’s super deep and supportive and the modular design is great for a budget since it lets you collect pieces over time. It’s light enough to move around too. Right now I have a two-seater couch and a one-seater piece that I use as a chair, but I’m hoping to get a corner piece and turn the whole thing into a sectional when I move into a bigger place.
I actually have that sofa you hate, the sodderhamn, and its pretty comfy!! It's seats are really deep, which I like cause I prefer to keep my feet tucked up on the couch rather than on the ground. It's not a couch you really sink into or anything, but I've found it to be really nice for my usage! I have the bright orange, which isn't for everybody but I like a lot for my space.
I love your videos, The best part is definitely you ranting before getting out of the car and when you get back in the car. All your tips are super helpful as I design my 1st help
You are the best thing on internet I wish I could show you my glass and bowl collections because I feel you are the only one apart from me who appreciate them X
Found your channel from another UA-camr that gave you a shout out...Hillary from Old World Home. I’m so glad I clicked over to check you out. I absolutely love your decor style but mostly I love your personality and humor. It took me two days of binge watching your videos so now I’m all caught up...Eagerly waiting for more. 😃
Soo, I'm using the Söderhamn sofa for four years and i really feel like saying a few things about it since you dislike it so much 😅 I can see where your feelings come from but, it's actually really comfy. Not so hard or so soft, ideal for our little bottoms 😊 The main reason we bought it in the first place is that it has a really wide sitting area and your legs stay in the sofa when you lean on your back. Otherwise it gets tiring to sit. It is a rare feature and we were prioritising it while looking for a sofa. Also it's a bit lower than the regular sofas which was also a priority for us. It's textile parts are fully removable and washable which is golden in my opinion. Also, it can be fully disassembled back in it's box which is great for us cause we move out every a few years. And lastly, we really like the metal legs 😂 It fits our design taste in our home. I know you don't mean any harm and are a passionate lady. Also definitely not trying to make you love this sofa. Simply sharing my experience in case there are others who wonder about why people buy it. Keep up the good work! 💙
Wow, we are the same person i went to ikea yesterday just to get those chocolate oatmeal cookies and i ended up walking around the whole store walking up to random items saying "ooh yes i love her" this video made me realize i really am i interior decorator at heart and i want to follow that passion.
I have that sofa you hate, in black colour and large version and I should tell you that is super comfy! I was also against it until my boyfriend beg me to try it. Next time you go to Ikea, sit on it and tell me 😊. And a good part, when you take out the cushions it works like a bed, and also really comfortable. For the prize is amazing : ) Love your videos, thanks for the tips!
Hello! I love your channel and started following your tips to redecorate my house. I live in Fairfax, VA (super close to DC) and was wondering if you would consider doing room makeover for my teenage daughter Lillian (she is 14). We paint and have lots of art work. Also I would be willing to buy decor and frames you would advise for the house and replace the ceiling lights (I have an electrician who can do electrical work). Thank you for your consideration! You are very inspiring. Sincerely, Victoria
This is such a nice, non-judgey video! I have weird feelings about IKEA because I grew up with family that loved antiques, and even when I moved out on my own, I didn't live near an IKEA. IKEA was also way out of my price range. I've still only been to an IKEA once with my old roommates. This video gives me so many ideas for how to get aesthetic basics, because my price range for basics is still low, but my tastes have evolved since I first moved out on my own and bought everything at Dollar Tree.
Hello, I can't imagine you reading all the comments 😉😊 but I 'm doing it anyway. I LOVE your stile and personality as a youtuber. Show thoughts, feelings and also give great tips and info. I loved the motivational video. Please go on and don't change too much🌺🥰
I loved this! Thank you for explaining where to pay and where to save. You are absolutely correct that we want to go over budget simply to get all goodies in our space. Now we have a better idea of how to navigate the darn budget and get the look/feel we’re after!
Great options, I rarely ever pull the trigger on new utensils unless I know for sure it's going to be the best option & there's no other way that I could possibly swing and miss... which is why watching your reviews has been such an important part of our lives
I’m always so jealous of people who have access to IKEA. I’m in Fairbanks Alaska. No IKEA anywhere near here, and they don’t ship here either. So now that I’m done complaining, good shopping tips for pretty much any large retailer. I agree - you don’t have to spend tons of money on the basics. Save it for the special purchases.
@@twistoffate4791 Like most places, you have to take the good with the bad. It's beautiful, but obviously the winters are hard. And long. Will have snow until May. But worth it if you love nature in all it's form. But if you visit, come in the summer!
@@dorism.9475 Thanks for responding. I love nature! I am curious as to how many hours of daylight you have. I thought I had heard that Alaskans face a whole different ballgame concerning hours of night & day.
@@twistoffate4791 Right now we have about 8 hours of daylight. It's a wild swing from about 3.5 hours in late December, to almost 24 hours in late June.
Such a great video. I loved your point about how organisational systems are crucial to interior design. And your point about how glasses/dinnerware are a part of design we really physically engage with. Intelligent and articulate and hilarious ... adore your content! 💗
Just moved into my first place 3 months ago, no bf no flatmates and loving it so much! I’m not sure I can ever compromise in future 😂 life’s just too good right now
I could not relate more to this video - 29 single independent living alone loving my own space but trying to figure out my systems and my style and how to make it look sophisticated and homely at a decent price! Also, always wondered about lilysilk and if it was worth it... so glad I found you!
Oh my God woman! Where have you been all my life?! I've just found your channel in the last few days and I'm now obsessing/stalking my way through all of your videos. I love 😍 love you. You've given my my new design mantra, which I would quote but I've already forgotten it - something about design needing to work for your lifestyle. But there are many gems you say that resonate with me and on top of that, you are so interesting, open and funny. I've lost my shit at least once during every video I've watched. Love ya!!!
Hi Caroline, Martha Steward said to buy those long plates for eating as an example a Artichoke with a little bowl on the side for butter. A forgotten idea until I saw your plate.
Would love to see you do a tour/rank of thrift stores in the DMV! I’m a fan of the two big ones just outside the beltway in Silver Spring!!! Love your channel!
We did an IKEA kitchen in our previous house, maybe 12-13 years ago. I miss it! Loved the big drawers and the corner cabinet with the lazy Susan was great. Loved the more modern lines. I don’t think our more expensive cabinets in our current house any nicer and they just aren’t as functional.
Thanks for your design videos its helping me a lot as I am moving to a new apartment ♥️ On a side note, you really have Jennifer Aniston energy! The looks, the voice and the wittiness its crazy! 😀
Shout out to buying an IKEA adjustable baby bed to fit your NY closet sized bedroom…I bought one for my very first NY apt and used it for an entire year. Yes I DID have to sleep on a diagonal. Also managed to maintain a relationship at the tail end of that time 😅 This whole video made me feel seen thank you
haha! I 100% relate to your thoughts and responses to IKEA . I live in Italy now and in our area its almost the only option for house wares and furniture that you don't have to either wait 4 months for custom or get really awful cheap stuff, Second hand is not common here and choices very slim. ( though you can find loads of very heavy dark antique pieces.) I always prep just like you for the visit....and I also never tell anyone Im going because it stresses me out to go with someone else who does not prepare and I have to stay focused on my own goals or its an overload . I will bring back extra box of tea lights for them tho! For me I also have a sort of ratio that feels right....about no more than 30 percent of my visible design should be Ikea...or it starts feeling like the showroom ,we all have Ikea stuff here so its all about customizing and getting real art and unique bits that get more attention than the supporting Ikea bits or if I have a big Ikea piece like my table....I try and not use all Ikea stuff on it.. Ive invested one by one in higher quality chair and unique area rug....kept the table, the curtains , dishes..and stock up on tea towel yes! I have a lot of the small Ikea lamps out of desperation...but I really miss my awesome collection of thrifted lamps I had in the US.
I love how you say "vase." Seriously! It's a mix between vaaaaaz and vace (like face) ... vaze. I'm going to say it that way from now on. Perfect blend. I wish we had an Ikea here!
Glad I hesitated and didn't give them any information. They almost had me though. I hope you can stop them. This is really harmful and anyone could fall for it.
I really hope that you are managing this big change. 🌹
❤️
💛
😍 sad for your loss, butt good on you for remaking a life for you.
Milky or deeply colored glass works too
Good idea. Also clear vases, lovely as they are, can get stained - so opaque could look good for longer =)
This is very helpful, thank you so much for sharing!
I actually like clear vases, they discipline you not to have "brown water" holding your flowers.
"If you don't have systems and organization... it doesn't matter what the design is underneath". YES. Love this. 👏👏👏
I couldn’t agree more that design and organization should be designed around a persons life not a instagram post! I love you and your videos!
🙌🙌🙌
Thank you for your acknowledgment that not every design needs high end EVERYTHING. Thanks Caroline for keeping it real.
Look at our fav new influencer getting sponsorships 💕

Yesssss Queen! I’m so glad I found this channel! We have the same personality.
Same - I've found a few nice items that I wouldn't have been able to afford full price in that section.
My hubby and I will be renovating our 122 year old home in the next few years and I will be keeping that in mind.
omg so many good companies out there, yes!
the op kingdom, sounds like you have a great home with lots of history, which would be a great subject for your own channel, featuring your renovation.
I LOVE no-nonsense people like you. You are hilarious without trying.
Your rant at the end about ikea on the weekends, *simple* people and *simple* carts and *bloodshed*.... that spoke to my soul.
Thank you. Caroline you don’t know how positively impacting this video has been for me in trying to be productive and working with depression. At 65yo severe fatigue and depression are common and this video was a huge help..!!
I love how cutlery became flatware and the glass jug was a glass carafe. Your words are so fancy. :)
I love watching your fresh flower arrangements changing with time passing.
Dang girl, look at you with the sponsor! 😊 loved this little look into IKEA, really really loved their kitchen section!! I never even thought about the glassware being an 'experience' but now I really feel the need to get some proper glassware! Itll be nice to not have all plastic and mismatched cups 😅
glassware is a slippery obsession! tread carefully 😄
Proper glassware is a must!!
@@Caroline_Winkler lol thank you for the heads up!!!
Great shop.Great experience - they have definitely found a special formula that grabs me and makes me feel at ease and as if I could maybe pull together a room I can afford (AND that could look good too mixed and matched with heirlooms and secondhand treasures)
Caroline, great self restraint, BUT I do think you should go back for the pretty pink glass dish - until you find your puppy it would be lovely holding fruit.
Thankyou, fair enjoyed joining you on a wee shoping trip!
I love our Ikea cabinets more than high end designer cabinets we had in another house we owned. Ikea is the way to go for high end looks on a budget!
So true.
I think I love you Caroline. In a world with so much BS you actually respect your viewers. Thanks ❤️
This is like shopping therapy only you get to pay! Thanks for taking us along!!
Caroline you are such a breath of fresh air, love your sense of humour, your style, oh and you are my people with the simple shoppers and their simple trolley management, eeep! Keep being you and telling it like you see it.
That pink scalloped plate could be used as a tray for candles or perfume❤️
coralling anything & everything
Always love fresh flowers and candles! It's good for your inner calm.
Oh my gosh I love the concrete front for the credenza! Super useful advice Caroline
P.S. Well, hello - again (LOL!) - Yes, the "living alone" thing is pretty sweet, and, I've certainly gotten used to it way more than I anticipated ... but in more ways than not - it's pretty flippin' great --- 😁 !!
Only because you said it would make you feel good- after all, I owe you! Thanks for the ideas and the fun!
Has anyone ever said that you are so like Jeniffer Aniston, seriously your vibe is so similar. I love your channel and your style. Best eyebrows ever too!
I love Ikea - I liked watching your process as you went through and your inner dialogue. So many great ideas to liven up my space!
Agree on the Ikea sofas, it's a no long-term. We bought our Ikea couch when we first moved in but 7 years later we were able to splurge hard on a super comfy, deep seating, well made couch, non-foam sofa. Worth the wait. I loved so many finds you featured.
I got a silk pillowcase as a gift for my birthday. I love it and use it every day!
Thank you for showing some positives about what to look for when shopping at Ikea. Enjoyable!🤗
I love your personality. You are a national treasure. Please never leave me.
Yay making my Saturday with this upload! I feel that I will be learning stuff and laughing at stuff which is just what I need today 💜
leighann YOU made MY saturday
I actually have that sofa you hate, the sodderhamn, and its pretty comfy!! It's seats are really deep, which I like cause I prefer to keep my feet tucked up on the couch rather than on the ground. It's not a couch you really sink into or anything, but I've found it to be really nice for my usage! I have the bright orange, which isn't for everybody but I like a lot for my space.
I love your videos, The best part is definitely you ranting before getting out of the car and when you get back in the car. All your tips are super helpful as I design my 1st help
You are the best thing on internet I wish I could show you my glass and bowl collections because I feel you are the only one apart from me who appreciate them X
when you said it's all me every day of the week 👏👏👏 yes to no compromises! 🙌
Soo, I'm using the Söderhamn sofa for four years and i really feel like saying a few things about it since you dislike it so much 😅
I can see where your feelings come from but, it's actually really comfy.
For the prize is amazing : )
Love your videos, thanks for the tips!
Love heading to ikea! And I agree they have a nice mix of traditional and modern. Super fun tour! ❤️
Went to IKEA like 3 weeks ago and got those cookies. Changed my life. Also, I have a Besta console under my tv and love it! So much storage
Great options, I rarely ever pull the trigger on new utensils unless I know for sure it's going to be the best option & there's no other way that I could possibly swing and miss... which is why watching your reviews has been such an important part of our lives
I thought the spatial anxiety thing was just me! Thank you for validating that for me today! Great video, loved going shopping with you ❤
Upload more more more!!
Your personality is 👌🏼
Love watching ❤️
& love your new apartment, has heaps of character...
aw Connie 🧡you're too sweet. i'm trying to figure out how to post more while still keeping my job lol. it's tough. thanks for the encouragement!
Nothing like a little Saturday morning inspo . Thanks for that !
I saw the Space Lamps and was immediately in love ❤
I’m always so jealous of people who have access to IKEA. I’m in Fairbanks Alaska. No IKEA anywhere near here, and they don’t ship here either. So now that I’m done complaining, good shopping tips for pretty much any large retailer. I agree - you don’t have to spend tons of money on the basics. Save it for the special purchases.
@Doris Mey, Wow! Fairbanks, Alaska! I have always wanted to visit Alaska. What is Fairbanks like, if you don't mind my query??
@@dorism.9475 Yikes! That's not a lot of daylight. But I know you're likely accustomed to it.
Such a great video. I loved your point about how organisational systems are crucial to interior design. And your point about how glasses/dinnerware are a part of design we really physically engage with. Intelligent and articulate and hilarious ... adore your content! 💗
Soooo happy to see you growing your channel and getting sponsorships! You deserve all the success and abundance 💕
SOEDERHAMN Sofa in 14:50 IS very comfortable! Try before you juge please
Just moved into my first place 3 months ago, no bf no flatmates and loving it so much! I’m not sure I can ever compromise in future 😂 life’s just too good right now
Love your dry, ironic speaking style, and I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing!
I could not relate more to this video - 29 single independent living alone loving my own space but trying to figure out my systems and my style and how to make it look sophisticated and homely at a decent price! Also, always wondered about lilysilk and if it was worth it... so glad I found you!
“This is a shared error”🤣😂 You have the best one-liners, I swear!
I'm moving house at the end of the month so I find this very encouraging! 😁✌️✨ Thanks for all, of your great ideas. 💕👌
The green vacuum flask I have for cold things on a hot day. Works really well.
Also managed to maintain a relationship at the tail end of that time 😅 This whole video made me feel seen thank you
Oh gosh, Caroline, you would love the thrift/estate sale type stores in the Vermont area in which I live. So much beautiful stuff for so cheap.
Ok, i just texted you. Hope I did it correctly :)
Ahh that is a spam bot!! So sorry! A message from me will say my name next to it. I’m trying to block these spammers
Ahh that is a spam bot! Don’t message them!
oh, I knew it was too good to be true. I won everything I ever wanted lol. Thanks for warning me.
Glad I hesitated and didn't give them any information. They almost had me though. I hope you can stop them. This is really harmful and anyone could fall for it.
