Each shave keeps getting better and better! The machining process was absolutely fascinating to watch. Cheers and have a safe work week.
Great video Heiko, and im loving that Rex Ambassador razor, excellent review and shave.
Another great video man. Thanks
Absolutely loving your videos Heiko, quickly becoming my favourite shaving channel
Also, I was struggling to shave against the grain as well. I’ve found the Henson razor with very very light pressure is the only way I can shave against the grain as it is so mild and lightweight. Maybe a similar razor could help you as well
I've been using one for a few years now, I drop the blade on the top cap first and lower the razor onto it. I typically start with 3.5 on the first pass for a few days growth but if I'm going a week without shaving I'll up it to 5 to prevent clogging.
Loved the video Heiko! Also the part with how the razors are made. The Rex is a work of art.
@@Heiko-shaves I think they are actually $295 now. Maybe Matt is dropping the price for you.
Congrats on your first shave with the Rex. I'm curious to see you compare the adjustables. Once you give another try to the Merkur Progress and maybe one day try the Pearl Flexi (it's supposed to be inspired by the Rex but much cheaper).
I have the same problem spot with my adam's apple, I have to be extra careful as it is easy to nick. Very interesting to see you comment on the manufacturing process of this razor. It's cool that you have some knowledge about machining and manufacturing.
Thanks, long time ago I worked as an industrial mechanic in Germany, during the apprenticeship I got trained to do some simple machining and even a bit of CNC stuff ,but that was easily 25 year ago.
very nice review👍cool razor
When do have to send it back next year
I hope I can keep it for a bit. I didn't ask that, Seems like Matt (from RE)is pretty relaxed about it.
I bought myself the Pearl Flexi for Fathers' Day. Fabulous value for money. Its hefty, very well made, costs less than $100, and comes with a stand and 50 razors blades. I got an excellent shave from it with 3 days growth on setting 3, and I think it's worth trying as a much more affordable option to the Rex Ambassador.
First Heiko!
One may ONLY GUESS, that if you set this to its lowest aggression setting, you could try one and only one pass-worth on the previously cut spot on your neck, and avoid reopening it for bleeding. A safer alternative may be to use an electric razor on that spot.
Congrats with the Rex's first shave !
Again it was nice watching you shave.
I have a little question: ain't the lather a bit too runny ( looks a bit too much water : soap ) or is it just me using a bit more ( perhaps too much? ) shaving soap.
Aiaiai with the spot, we all could feel it :(
Could be too much water. Still working on it. I get better results with bowl lathering.
@@Heiko-shaves I always bowl lather but I am too much a newbee to be convinced about the runny thing ( that's why I asked )
Rex Ambassador best grip, rubbish shaver! But when people pay a lot of money as victims of marketing for this razor, they lie to themselves and others about the "awesome" performance. I'm glad I sold mine and I don't have to lie anymore how good it is. Sometimes it's good to acknowledge your own mistakes. For good razor look at Karve Overlander, Yates Winning V2, Aylsworth Apex and Rockwell 6S
The Rex is too aggressive for me but I currently own a Rex Konsul which I really like. I have a Yates Winning razor on the way.
I have fine beard and mustache. Normally 3-4 days per 1 shaving. I have a choice between T2 ,Ambassador ,Konsul. Which is the best balance of mild and efficiency razor only for face ? Thank you.
if you want a mild gentle razor that can take it down without issues I would choose something else. I guess the T2 starts out at the mildest, It is just has a bit bulky head, next would be the Konsul and last the Ambassador. My choice would be the Timeless Slim Titanium (non adjustable) or the Parker Variant open comb if it needs to be adjustable
I'm puzzled - why don't you simply turn the top cap upside down, place the blade on the cap, and then, with the cap still upside down, drop the razor body down on to the cap??? I believe that's how it's supposed to be done
I use another way i move my skin left / right on adams apple and it works better for me than swallowing and holding it😂 i have seen this patent on one of yt channels
maybe we can try the Pearl Flexi next time? :D
I reached out to Pearl, to see if they would give me a razor on loan but so far no response.
@@Heiko-shaves I'm pretty positive they're gonna give it to you since they did a ton of advertising distributions online.
To aggressive
The little tip for preventing a cut to the Adam's apple is to swallow real hard and hold it until you are done shaving the area - which will make your Adams apple go up, also helps to use your other hand to pull the skin taut. This is an especially useful tip if you ever pick up straight razor shaving! Anyways, Good shaves to you sir, and enjoy your trip - maybe consider doing a travel shave video with stuff you find in Taiwan? Just an idea
Thanks, that is great tip. I just swallowed a couple a time. It works. Wow. I will try to do something while I am traveling. I hope I have sufficient wifi speeds to upload stuff. Hotels can be a bit spotty sometimes.
