    I don't think it can be overstated how satisfying it is to remove 4-7 days of beard growth with an aggressive razor (I use the R41 myself.) I use a rockwell 6C for my everyday or every few days shaves but if If I have heavy growth, nothing beats the satisfaction of R41 which cuts through that growth like butter!

    I have owned an R41 for a couple of years now and loved it. I own a 6S as well and bought it for the fact it is stainless steel. The Rex is stainless steel with an adjustable feature but, after watching this video, I don't think from a shaving perspective it is worth buying. I love the razor feedback you talked about in this video, I personally feel the same in real life from my R41 and that really makes shaving a joy even the 6S comes second in this category. Very interesting video. I had the T2 and traded it in for the Rex Ambassador XL. It is certainly more efficient. But I would be scared to death to boost it to level 6 and with the Feather blade. I once considered buying the Rex Ambassador, but ended up buying other razors instead.

      I've seen one individual shave off a nine-month beard with a razor I have, but I can't get a smooth shave with the same razor. If one has coarse beard growth, one might require more aggressive razors to get 'BBS' results. I've come to prefer aggressive, single edge razors using Feather Artist Club blades (which seem more comfortable, due to the blade thickness) and the most aggressive DE safety razors, but used with a very light touch. These razors are undoubtedly too aggressive for most.

    The Ambassador has ruined shaving for me in a good way as it has been impossible to stop using it. The smoothness that comes from pairing it with a Kai blade is unreal. It just makes the task of shaving so effortless without the fear the R41 instills into the back of your head as Geo's already described. Hoping to get the email from Wolfman Razors at some point to see if it can make me switch from the Ambassador. I get that the price is higher compared to most razors out there; however, it is a high quality item that's designed and built to last past your lifetime and can be passed down in your family as a heirloom.

      This is why I rarely use my Muhle R41 open comb razor. The R41 is mostly responsible for the aggressiveness, I like using the less aggressive (closed comb) Muhle R89 safety razor with the Feather blades and it's very pleasant. I recommend using a Proraso pre-shave cream to ease your skin before shaving.
      Have you tried using the Feather blades with a less aggressive closed comb safety razor?

    • @KostasKap
      @KostasKap Рік тому +1

      @@htpkey yes is did. In Rockwell 6c and fatip SE. is smooth enough, even in first use of feather. In general, I think R41 is aggressive but sloppy, if I can use that word. If you manage to install blade with no issues in fatip, the shave is deep but more comfort. In my opinion of course and all that in my skin. But even with R41 witch I use every 2nd or 3rd day, I have no skin irritations, burns or anything similar. Once I tried in everyday shave. No irritations whatsoever, but not pleasant for sure. I think I can get base plate and top cap of R89 and use the handle of R41, witch I think is the same. But, I have to jump from one edge to the other. Besides, Rockwell 6c is such an amazing razor. I don’t use any pre-shave product. I never did and I think I will never do. I just don’t see the point of using it on my skin. Maybe another test between R41 and fatip with open comp base plate would be interesting. In my fatip, the blade doesn’t fit correctly and needs adjustment in order to shave, witch means, no go for me. It’s sitting in a closet. Pls excuse my bad English. I am a self learner by translating the lyrics of my favorite bands and dictionary.

    I know it’s almost impossible to give useful tips on shaving as we are all so different, but I’ll ask anyway:
    After 40+ years of shaving with cartridges, I bought a Mühle R89 with Mühle blades about 2 months ago. It was the most often recommended razor ‘for newbies’. I sometimes shave daily but usually every 2 or 3 days. I use a brush, TOOBS cream and proraso pre shave.
    Almost every shave results in cuts to my ‘difficult’ areas - I have very strong stubble. I tried a couple of shaves with a Wilkinson blade - I cut myself to ribbons. The Feathers I bought will stay in the box!
    The truth is that, annoyingly, even with 3 passes (which I rarely do, to avoid cuts and soreness) my shave is never as close as with a Gillette Fusion. I really enjoy ED shaving and will keep going with it for several reasons, but I wonder when it will start to feel easy and comfortable.
    Any tips for alternative blades or even a different razor would be appreciated. Thank you!

    • @AlitaAvenger
      @AlitaAvenger Рік тому +2

      As you're mentioning giving shaving tips is difficult since we're all very different when it comes to skin sensitivity etc. etc.
      I don't own a lot of different razors, but perhaps you could try the Rockwell 2C, it comes with the C1 and flipside the C3 bar. In my experience cutting yourself with the C1 is sort of impossible. The same counts for the Henson AL-13 mild. Both razors require a different technique which is easy to learn.
      I have a strong beard grow as well combined with very sensitive skin. Still, those mild razors are doing a very efficient and gentle job without nicking myself.
      As for the blades, I would definitely give Astra green a try, very smooth and gentle.
      Having said that, I am not a shaving expert, and all of this is very subjective.
      Also, I have never used the Mühle R89. The Mühle blades were not a good choice for me as well, felt not smooth and a bit rough. Wilkinson blades I used to like in the past, but Astra is way better for me, and so are Perma-Sharp and Gillette platinum (the last two sharper than Astra but still smooth, at least in my opinion).
      Good luck!

      From someone that has really thick hair and sensitive skin I would like and try to give you some recommendations.
      1. Technique. Coming from a cartridge u need to learn to not use pressure. Just trust in the blade and let it glide.
      2. Try a different soap. Some are made to soften thicker hair like Dr. Dittmar or even proraso red. But the easiest to get it usually Arko, you just have to see for yourself if you like the smell or not. Oh and leave it on your face for at least 3 minutes to soften the beard.
      3. Even if it sounds strange but a more aggressive razor is your friend. The R41 one or if you just want to have a good shave and be a bit versatile the Merkur Progress. Guaranteed good shave. Plus adjusting it down on the 2nd or 3rd shave helps the skin even more. And 3+ passes for a really clean shave is nothing unusual. Geo is just faster.
      4. Blades are a really personal thing and work different in different razors. But I would recommend to try Astra Superior Platinum (green) and if possible Bic Chrome Platinum, if you can order them where you live. Feather territory sharpness wise but much smoother.
      5. Maybe the most important I learned for me personally. Lather is much more important than right blade or razor. A good lather will protect your skin, soften the hair and let the razor just glide. There are good tutorials on UA-cam. But generally to remember, for a face leather, start with less water and work more and more of it each round with the brush. It should be thick but shiny like whip cream.
      In the end you'll just have to try for yourself and that is the fun part about it. Enjoy it 😁👍🏻

      @matezz397 Рік тому +2

      I wouldn't be scared of Feather blades. I never cut myself with them. Just because of their sharpness, you might not feel the need to press harder, which will actually result in less cuts.
      But I would stay away from Perma-Sharps for now. Their sharpness increases and decreases very fast between your shaves. They're not consistent. They actually get even sharper than Feathers for a while. You need to know what you're doing.
