- Hey guys! Ross here, back for another Daily Shave! Today’s shave features a hardware review of the Rex Supply Co - Ambassador. This modern adjustable razor has taken the wet shaving community by storm since it’s release in 2017 and continues to be lauded for its performance today.
The Ambassador drew inspiration from the vintage Gibbs and Gillette adjustable safety razors. It utilizes more of the aesthetics of the Gibbs while utilizing the date codes Gillette previously used to identify the year the razor was manufactured and produced. The 316L stainless steel material gives this razor good weight, quality, and durability. The blade sits perfectly in the top cap with absolutely not blade chatter whatsoever. Another nice feature I failed to mention in the review is that the head/cap covers what most DE razors typically do not, which is the blade overhang (or exposure of the side of the razor blade). The machining is top tier and the adjustability of the head to change the efficiency is very smooth. The handle knurling is also amazing and at no point do I feel as though the razor could slip out of my hand or drop.
It is no surprise why there have been many fans of this razor and I think it will continue to be sought after for years to come given its success in the first couple years since it’s release. The quality is outstanding and it’s made right here in the good ol’ US of A! You really can’t ask much more out of a razor, in my opinion.

Good review Ross👍 My Ambassador is an N1, first quarter of 2018. They fixed the issues they had with the first batch by the time I got mine. It's a great razor although a bit aggressive for my skin, I only use on the lower settings. Even on the lower settings, account "forward" blade exposure, it's very efficient IMO. I know I'm repetitive with this comment, your last reply confirmed the efficiency. Beautifully machined and finished, bells and whistles, fantastic shaver. Enjoy!
Thanks, Terry! I do agree that it seems to have a natural aggression to it. My shaves have been more hit or miss with it recently. I'm not sure why but it's still a beautiful razor nonetheless and I know many consider it a favorite and consistent daily shaver. It deserves the praise it has received over time.

Great review, the Rex is beautiful, also with those post you get even blade exposure on each side of the razor.

Excellent review and razor. I have the N3. The Rex Ambassador likes sharp blades. That’s where it performs best. I use mine on settings around 2-3 😊

I usually use an Astra. Do you recommend a feather or personna instead with the ambassador?
griff Blades that are really good in the Rex Ambassador based on my one year experience with it: Polsilver, Gillette Platinum, Gillette Black, Rapira Lux Platinum 😊
I use Derby blades in mine. I love how close it shaves, but I have to be very careful if I get above a setting of 2-3. It's a super aggressive razor.
How does this compare to the Merkur Progress Adjustable Safety Razor?
How is compared to the Blackland Blackbird ?
How is it compared to Rockwell 6S?? I use plate #3 wonder if it irritates a lot and how aggressive it is on lower setting?

What's your favorite DE. I'm a straight razor shaver and I'm trying to find a good DE. I have the feather AS-D2, nice but mild....just ordered a karve christopher bradley with a C and E plate. But was looking at the rex ambassador and the rocnel sailor. Also the timeless. .78I.. curious what your favorite razor is, because I have always trusted your opinion. Thanks
Have you considered the Rockwell T2 SS. I’ve been using mine for 6 months now and love it. It has a neutral blade exposure so it’s not aggressive like the Ambassador. I’ve shaved with it from 6….all the way down to 2….without irritation. Several write ups I’ve seen on the Ambassador have their owners only using it in the 2 or 1 range. An added factor is the Rockwell Black Friday sale. I got mine….with the stand….normally about $300 for both…on sale for $147 delivered. At that price….it’s a hell of a razor and the build quality is outstanding. Their TTO and blade adjustment on the fly…..are great features and work flawlessly. Just my opinion.😂

Hi mate what is your fav razor and blade ?
At the moment I would probably say the WCS/CG razor (Hyperion) with either a Polsilver or Gillette Silver Blue. Just seems to be the best razor blade combo for me in terms of overall smoothness and efficiency for a shave.
