- This is the newest speedrun made by groobo and it is only half as long as his last video!

Yeah, it's me again. Once more I'm here to cut down the time almost in half and it's due to even more luck manipulation, even more glitches, and even more sexiness. The most important thing is that I manipulated Naj's Puzzler to drop from the earliest monster possible. This item gives you some teleport charges and it's requirement-free. Second thing is the negative health glitch (note that this was fixed with the 1.07 patch). If your health turns negative when you're protected by the mana shield spell (which can be done with equipping a -life item) you won't die, you'll become invincible instead. There are pretty much two down sides to this: you won't be getting any exp points for any monsters killed because you're technically dead, and if you forget to make your health positive again before either entering a portal or using the stairs you'll end up dead (because going to another level removes your mana shield and then the game actually pays attention to your health). Then there's the duplication glitch which was already featured in my previous work. You can copy any item at the cost of any potion or scroll. What you need to do is to drop the item you want to "dupe" on the ground and walk away from it, then you click on the item and when you're just about to pick it up you click on any item on your belt. You'll end up with the item you just picked up in your inventory and you'll be holding an exact same copy of that item at the same time. One more thing that will probably confuse you (or not at all since it was also in the previous run) is what happens when I meet Lazarus. Normally a cutscene should take place following a lengthy speech. Well, the first one is skipped by alt-tabbing to windows (when alt-tabbing back to the game you can't see shit and you can't really tell when you can already move the cursor so better appreciate that the delay wasn't that big), the latter is skipped by simply saving and loading the game. Last thing to note is that I did extensive research on every aspect of the game important in a speedrun (with the help of a couple of guides), the RNG and how to manipulate it, how the game calculates damage done, what monster drops what and appears where, and so on. So keep that in mind and remember that I really busted my balls to get this done, so you better fucking enjoy it.

It depends on which timeline you are looking at from this spliced together pile of cheating. This "run" is like a cobbled together pile of segments taken from like 50 different games. They weren't even done on the same version of the game.

The real reason why the Wanderer wasn't strong enough and lost in his internal struggle to resist Diablo's influence is because he didn't grind enough levels out due to skipping the first 15 floors.

Nothing like a little, or rather an absolute metric f%ck ton, of cheating to speed things up. This isn't even remotely a legit run.

No other game did atmosphere better, dark and gloomy, best music and sounds, great voice acting and story EPIC story the way it enda...will always be my favorite game

Yeah, I found it pretty cool too. I kept thinking who that demon is on the cover of Diablo 2 when it came out and it was a pleasant surprise to find out that it was the hero warrior (you) from Diablo 1.
Canonically The Warrior became new Diablo, Sorcerer became the Summoner in Act 2 in Diablo 2 (in Arcane Sanctuary)
The cinematic team was a different team to blizzard North so when the devs seen the warrior stick the soulstone in his head, they were completely shocked and confused haha

Quit watching 1:20 in. There is no way this wasn't cheated with how the staircases to the next level keep spawning like that. I can see it happening twice in a row, but this consistently, no way.
This is funny, because this particular thing isn't cheated, (but the whole run is anyway, for example you can see the ring that he picked up missing later on for a moment).
So basically it's just a really good understanding of how randomness is programmed in this game. The game is checking your computer date to decide what the seed for the randomness algorithm is.
If you calculate what is the date for a perfect seed, you can just start the game at that date and you will get that perfect game.

Dylan Johnson He has an early (retail) version of the game where every floor of the game is randomly generated as you enter it. He saves outside the steps, then goes inside. He likes the layout, he goes down the next steps. He doesn't, he reloads.
+Dylan Johnson He would constantly reload the save and go back in until it spawns the stairs right next to him.
He also duped Naj's puzzler by dropping it on the ground and picking up potions on his belt as he grabs the item (turns the potion into the item you're picking up off the ground).

Speedruns rely on figuring out the source code of the game and how to unrandomize all the necessary parts to get what is needed to finish as fast as it is possible within its parameters. Go watch The Hobbit speedrun documentary it's pretty rad.

@@Mutysegmented run doesn't mean cutting random gameplay videos into one, that makes no competitive sense, because there is no chronological order between segments. This is a fake speedrun.
For a segmented run each segment must end with a save game, and start with a load game, this is not true for this video.

And he picked up almost no items, but still ended up with both stoneskin, fireball, and teleport spells. Definitely used some special "world seed" that assures certain drops in certain places, as well as the level entrances being lined up like that.

Honestly, it's been a LONG time since I've completed the game back way when as a child, but I distinctly remember, of all bosses Butcher was probably the most terrifying. By the time you reached Diablo (as a regular scrub sorceress clearing most of their way in) I had some pretty sick gear, including a Staff of apocalypse with 10 charges (actual legit drop, not MP dupe or anything. If it was a dupe, it'd probably have 500 charges ;) ). Diablo would fall like a twig the first time around, and every time after.
Now Butcher, on the other hand, with his hard-hitting super-speedy attack in a tiny room at a time a skull cap is considered a survivability upgrade.. =D

There is literally no chance in 34092857093874 million thousand BILLION runs you get this kind of RNG. Stairs all right next to each other. Ring at 1:04 to reduce life below 0 for negative life trick. First kill at 1:30 gets Najs puzzler. Thinking Cap off Lazarus. It's all bollocks. Call it what is it, a completely fake segmented run

To all those, who got problem with this kind of speedruns.
1. Of corse he could do it without using glitches and other stuff like this. But in this case, it would be another category of speedrunning. Using glitches is part of speerunning in general. IMO it's harder to find out all those glitches and make them work in order whole run.
2. He didn't cheat.
3. Go and try to read about speedrunning then say fcking sorry to this speedrunner.

Well, after playing that very game since 1995, the loading and generation of the levels sometimes works out that way. But the -1 HP bullshit is definitely nowhere near legit... POSSIBLE, but just game-breakingly advantageous to the point where it is not legit. Every game would be simple as pie to speedrun as long as you were immortal. No apology necessary or given, he himself says it is an illegal method.

Glitch is not cheat, at least not in speedruns
Miodowy, cheat is a way to gain advantage in game using methods not supposed by game mechanics, namely breaking the rules of the game. So, exploiting bugs and glitches definitely is cheating.
Just try exploit texture glitch or dup glitch in any MMORPG, and you will be banned for cheating.
You had to have exploited or hacked in some way to get every single floor entrance right next to each other.

I haven't played the gog version but in the original Diablo the floors were randomized.

Single player I believe is random but once you start they're locked in. Then you can replay the save file. So scout it to the end. Start a new one if you don't have a great seed for a speed run. Then play it over and over til you can do this.

Nothing is hacked. He didn’t die at 3:19, he used an early version of the game and when health drops to 0 while magic shield is on the character becomes invincible (as long as he still has mana and doesn’t go to another level). He somehow manipulated the game to drop Naj’s Puzzler as early as possible (one of the most powerful items in the game). He also S&L tons of times so the entrance to the next level spawns as close as possible to the current level too. All these are allowed on speed run forums. He just knows an insanely lot about the game and knows how to manipulate it. I don’t even know how he knows all these but he does.

I've got nothing against tool assisted and/or glitched speedruns, I just don't enjoy them a lot and I appreciate it when it is specified in the video title.

@@yuriyaranov4366 kinda. thisvideo is edited with only perfect stairs layouts, specific perfect drops and specfic Adria roll for books. rest of it is legit in terms when those patterns would roll in one game.

Yea the first thought that came through my mind. Impossible to have almost all exits near the entrances. Respect for what he did but it has to be hacked.
There are certain codes for the maps that you play, if I recall correctly, you can put in some numbers or letters and get a unique map.
Kinda like Minecraft world seeds.
Easily done 100 playthroughs in D1, to even see an exit and entrance that close once is ultra Rare. Not even remotely close to possible 16 times sequentially. The disclaimer on the video says 'Verified no cheating'... You don't generally need to point that out unless you're presenting evidence that avid players are going to recognize as falsified.
