4:02 That Blade Runner commercial probably blew everyone's minds back in '82.

It basically flopped at the box office. Audiences weren't ready for cyberpunk. By the late 80's it was considered a cult classic.

Blade Runner is my favorite movie. I wish I could have seen it in the theater.

When Pizza Hut used to taste good and when Verizon was Bell Atlantic. The National Inquirer was the TMZ of the 80s.

@John Bold Yes. Now it tastes like saltines with ketchup and cheap cheese.

Thanks for putting the Police Squad! Epilogues in there -- awesome!

I love watching these things. I get these random flashbacks to when I was a kid. It's freaky and cool at the same time.

Okay, Police Squad seems hilarious! @ 9:27 A young, Robin Givens! She was a big 80s celebrity (married and divorced boxer Mike Tyson) and starred in the '80s ABC sitcom Head of the Class for a long time. This commercial ran for YEARS I remember being, at least, an older preteen when it stopped airing.

What's sad is that both of the girls who played the daughters in Poltergeist died way to young.

Dang Poltergeist was only PG? That movie scared the crap out of me as a kid

It actually originally received an R from the MPAA but Steven Spielberg and the studio talked them down. There was no PG-13 rating in 1982. Outrage over the violent/scary content of the PG rated "Gremlins" and "Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom" (also produced/directed by Spielberg) was the primary reason it was eventually created in the summer of 1984.

Seth Green and Sarah Michelle Gellar did Burger king adds when they was kids and then stared in Buffy together.

Poltergeist was the first horror movie my parents allowed me to watch, and I loved it. Still do. Probably my favorite horror film. Perfect mix of suspense, some great character moments, and wonderful humor. It's a shame its legacy has been cheapened by the inferior sequels, and the awful remake from a few years ago, but this is a movie that stands as a classic to me.

10:05 How do they not lose their shit with all this stuff going on around them? Man, Leslie Nielsen was so funny.

The Burger King one just reminds me of the Robot Chicken parody they did about it.
"Just the way I like it, flame boiled!"
"Just the way I like it, frame broiled!"

Mary Jo Catlett from Diff'rent Strokes as the crazy roach lady!
Gidget Goes To Rome, because why the heck not?
"Cornthenticity"? They don't make up words like that anymore!

Grandma's Swirl Cookies-used to eat these by the boxful
Black Flag-she must be a relative of E.G Marshall's character from Creepshow..(actress is Mary Jo Catlett, who played Pearl on later seasons of Different Strokes)
20/20-Diving Deathtrap..sounds like the name of a "oceanic life gone mad"movie
Blade Runner-2049 shouldve had more callbacks to this(found out most of L.A was damaged due to the events of the BR anime short"Blackout" which can be viewed on UA-cam)
Police Squad epilogue -hopefully that coffee wasnt scalding hot
Poltergeist-R.I.P Heather O'Rourke,Dominique Dunne and Zelda Rubenstein
Ortega-should be a class called Taco Eating 101

at 10:00 there is that name again Sally deckert they must get her a lot.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  5 років тому +1

The gag is that they run through all of the characters they arrested on the previous episodes. Sally Decker (not "Deckert") is just one of the characters mentioned. They also mention Martin, Dutch, Lana and Thames, which were all characters arrested in previous episodes.

You would have to be dumb as a brick to follow pet advice from the National Enquirer.
They need to put Police Squad! back on tv. I’d watch the hell out of it (since it wasn’t on that long, it would be pretty easy to watch over and over).

  • @Silly81

Police Squad was ahead of its time. Angie Tribeca tries to be like it but it’s not as funny IMO
