  • Talking about one of my favorite subjects, painting rust for Warhammer! In this video we take a look at three weathering + rust techniques to apply to your miniatures. Each one is straight forward and approachable, but yields great results. They're also great for building upon + customizing!
    Not only are these useful for Warhammer miniatures but are sure to make your terrain and other tabletop accessories stand out as well.
    Even if you're a seasoned mini painting veteran, I'm sure there will be something helpful in this video.

    The third shield with the mask technique looks so amazing, really coool stuff. What I love the most though is probably the moment (at 4:53 before aplying the metal again) where the dried Mask is still on the Shield! Gives it this look as if it was sunken underwater for a long time.
    found your channel yesterday and almost finished watching all your videos, love your attitude and nice tips!

      cool man, thanks so much! Appreciate the views. I bet you could achieve something similar with some texture paint instead of the mask if you're digging the look

    This is so helpful thank you! Just gone halves with a friend of skaventide and I'm tasked with the skaven half. I want then to look really rusty and messy. So used to doing Lizardmen and Tyranids so I'm not vastly experienced with metal but handy to know which colours to play around with as I'm more used to using contract paints.

    That is some very good techniques for rusting up metal, perfect for undead warriors and that jolly bunch from Nurgle. Dave Soper incorporates thinned PVC glue and bits of baking soda on a rusty subject, it's very effective!

    What are the proportions on the electric blue/iron warriors mix?

    • @Zanzibrush
      @Zanzibrush  5 місяців тому +1

      I'd start with roughly 4:1 iron warriors to electric blue and go from there. You can also see me mix up the color in this video for a better look:

    I like the base layer of brown and adding on to it with other rust colors, and then adding that bluish metal color you mixed up. That's such a great color. My Ork army has a heavy theme of looting battlefields and everything they use is stolen or scrapped together, so I'm definitely using some of these tips to give a new vibe to some of my vehicles' panels.

    These are some awesome effects -- I really appreciate your approach to these effects, I feel like you're really coming up with novel ways of doing things rather than just personalizing standard approaches -- I bet you come from a traditional art background eh? :)
