Petko talking about making an enclosure “cozy” for a giant centipede is literally the cutest
I’m so envious! She’s beautiful! 😊
Your here😁👍
I never thought I would hear someone call a centipede beautifull
You habe lots of youtube money, im sure you can buy a better set up and a fine specimen.
Your enclosure decoration skills are simple but at the same time they’re not. You’re so original in your designs. They always turn out amazingly!
Petko I wasn’t so sure about the enclosure until you whipped out that sand for the texture. Game-changer. 😁😝 Your centipede is like a creature right out of nightmares and it’s amazing!
an idea for the dry brushing, use both yellow and grey for the whole thing and then use some green on the top parts of the outcrop to make a feel off some small moss/ lichens growing on it
Meh
As a miniature painter/diorama maker i was thinking some greens and browns added in some spots would really make it pop too.
Yeah you can get poofy brushes that apply the green in dabs that look much more like moss. A little yellow in with the green looks best
Love how the enclosure turned out and Devil II seems to love it, too! Awesome footage Petko 🤗
This Guy treats his pets like family
its so great to watch there looking so healthy!!❤️❤️😸😸
Seeing the time-lapse of you covering the background was incredibly satisfying!!
hey petco the term you were looking for is dry brushing!
also i know that for a fact the black base color you used would be fine for rock face , and a gray dry brush would be what you want to go with there are a lot of cool diorama UA-cam channels i love them and i think its so cool that you are adding these techniques to your scapes
also loved the oblivion music in the back ground
Im seriously so proud of you Petco, I've watched your videos back when you recorded in your apartment living room... Now seeing you in your own studio with a WHOE EXIBIT of critters really brings a huge smile to my soul. I dont know you personally, but I am so proud of YOU!!
She's beautiful! And the enclosure is gorgeous! I think the background turned out amazing and looks like a natural rock structure, especially once you finished setting up the enclosure!
I've seen several people make backgrounds using the same materials you do, but instead of painting it, they spread silicone over it and then cover it with dirt/soil type mixtures and push it into the silicone. The result is VERY natural!!!
That was old Petko. If you go back a few years.
Think once she's used to that new home there'll be little chance of her wanting to run away!!! She seems to love it!! I think those little "escapes" were more just her being like an excited puppy! Brilliant setup, Petko! 👏
Can't wait to see your enclosure design skills progress to the point Tanner asks you for advice (for when he gets into inverts after your persuading!)
I love how, no matter how many times you do something, you're always so excited and enthusiastic
Great video! The enclosure looks good, the impressive, Devil ll seems to enjoy it. Loved hearing her walking, very cool! The feeding footage was very dramatic. So great to see such close up shots of a creature I would never get close enough to to see that well. She's cool!
The Oblivion music while the centipede is struggling with the roach. Chef's kiss!
AMAZING so cool to watch a giant centipede that aggressively feeding. The struggle and then the glory carrying around the kill like that 👏
Thanks for the video. It was interesting to see you building the enclosure and you feeding the centipede.
Safe Journey!
CHOLULA!!!
What a beautiful centipede. Very very beautiful animal. And I love your enclosures love how you build your own for your tarantulas and other animals. Really awesome looking enclosures.
The black and yellow make me think of a sulfur deposit near volcanic activity. You might want to try a blend of colors in layers like green, brown, tan and black. Two colors still won't mimick nature that much as even something like red clay has multiple hues to it.
That into montage was awesome. Good editing, concise narration, and an absolute banger of a song 👌
If you would like a more natural color combo for the back ground, you should use a brown-based dark grey at the base color and then use like a slate great or grey mixed with white at the dry brush color! That would capture shadows, light, as well as the dirt and stone colors well
Love your content man, keep it up!
Awesome video! She's gotten so big!
I just got one today. It's been about 3 years now since I've wanted one. Finally today. I enjoy your videos. This was particularly a really good one. Thank you
Hi Petko really enjoyed your video absolutely loved it and what nice enclosure for the centipede 😮❤️
Amazing work!!! I really love it!!!!
Petko, i have been subscribed since 2015 on my personal account. We have spoke over Instagram because I needed help identifying a jumping spider but you didn't know what it was but you thought it was really cool. We also discussed our favorite skate tricks and mine at the time was the dolphin flip. i have recently got one of these centipedes as well and I'm so excited to be able to watch your video to set up its enclosure. i started this account in hopes to spread insect awareness and how we can utilize them in future sciences. I was even sponsored by the US military in high school to conduct experiments to see if we could make generically altered insects to make landfills and trash more biodegradable so the earth heals faster. You really inspired me and my studies in those times, thank you for everything.
The painting tecnique is called "Dry brush", really used in miniatures and diorama making :D
PS: Loved the Skyrim soundtrack
Pretty sure it was Oblivion music
That is 100% Oblivion combat music followed by Oblivion Town music
@ 8:10 honestly i like the part that you painted too much on, I've seen rocks look like that all the time. I feel it gives it more of a natural look to it tbh
I love centipedes, they don't take any crap. 21:06 "I'm taking this somewhere private, get out of my way"
Awesome new format dude 🤘
Awesome video. Giant centipedes are my favorite but I don't think I could ever be around one in person. UA-cam is such a nice way for people like me to enjoy these awesome creatures. :D
Loved the new intro format 👌
wow she moves so fast! the sound her feet make is very scary, it'll definitely haunt me lol. but she's so cool, I loved seeing her acclimate to her new home!
My guy i live like 20 minutes from Orlando so im so excited now. Ive been watching you for years now
you did such an amazing job filming this video! love your vids since 2018
Awesome!! Mad respect for big centipede sp. they are fast as hell and dont mess around.
Great video again, thanks Petkoo!!!
When I lived in Hawaii on the Big Island we had many centipedes huge 12 inch long ones. Many patients came into the hospital and were put on a 24hour morphine pump. Very very painful sting.
i LOVE the Oblivion edit you put over the feeding 🤣😍
The feeding clips are dope!
That's so cool your meeting Brian from the Repterrium
What an awesome video, this one has everything.
I like the editing in the beginning (the intro)Petko it looks very professional
Petko, your power at education and providing a way for people afraid of creepy crawlers to get over their fear is unrivalled! NEVER in my life did i think i would sit through a video of a centipede, AND THEN EXPERIENCE SADNESS FOR A ROACH. loooool these are words i thought i would never have to communicate. Thanks again for all the content, buddy.
Sick feeding video, I didn’t expect it to be so dramatic!
What a beast, lol!! I guess you could get used to them- you kind of seem to have to be a bit ahead of their movement pattern, and guide them like ppl do snakes, but yeah, w the threat they pose, still bit of a freaky one, for me…even by proxy!😂
Yeah centipedes give me the heebie jeebies, much worse than tarantulas!
@@Jesse__H same! Though as indicated, am beginning to see how you could get ok w them…😶😅
I love that all of my favorite UA-camrs are friends, you, tanner, Brian, kenan, etc you guys are awesome
Grey transitioning into silvers and finally whites makes a very rocklike look. Just remember to build up to the lightest/ brightest colors to give it depth and make the highlights pop! Love the new background and seeing you try new stuff! Can’t wait to see your painting skills grow!!
great enclosure!
So many videos have this feeling of possible looming doom. Like it's all on a knife's edge, with the possibility of tipping the wrong way. haha everything ends fine, but there are moments of anxiety throughout. Critters bolting left and right, sometimes more than one, while the guy always sounds and seems chilled and chuckling. 🙃 what a guy! Great videos. Like watching a film filled with suspense
Hi Petko, I just wanted to thank you for turning me into a self proclaimed arachnophile. I owned a chilean rose hair when I was younger but I certainly wasn't as enthusiastic about spiders as I am now. I intend on getting another tarantula in the foreseeable future but i've refused to do so until i can care for it properly and ensure it has the best quality of life possible. You're one of my favorite content creators and I as well as all your other subscribers appreciate what you do🙂
BRUTAL FEEDING.....I LOVED IT!!
The Oblivion Music gave me some real nostalgia. epic video!
such a beauty!
That was fascinating!
Love the asmr when you painted the background.
Petko of Rivia:
"I call all my centipedes 'Devil' "
Love the music from oblivion during the feeding
You are amazing.
Its bin a bout a month since I watched . but dude its good to see you . the f em looks amazing . and what a way to come back by a epice feeding . this was amazing.
I thought I heard peaceful Oblivion music but wasn't sure. Then you put in the battle music and I had a good laugh.
Such a fierce battle 😂
I don't know how I got here but I really enjoyed it. Good stuff!
Honestly, you could really tell that the centipede liked the enclosure they where all over the place. It kinda makes sense when you think about it, with all those legs they are perfectly designed to be atleast partially arboreal but most of the time you see centipede enclosures with hardly anything to climb because people are worried about them escaping. That background is perfect in combination with the enclosure because it allows them to climb safely without risking an escape.
This guy really used Skyrim battle music AND tavern music for the feeding, this is awesome lol.
You can apply drybrush of few colours like yellow and dark green heavier and then aply white lighter with brush realy dry. It will make other colours join together. You will get deep shadows and highlights then.
I will definitely watch the episode were you meet Kenan. If you out there like reptiles, he´s got an awesome channel with quality content. One of my favorites. I absolutely love Serpadesign too. His channel is both inspiring and relaxing.
I loved the Oblivion music when you gave the cockroach to it, haha. Nice touch! :P
im subscribing. i like this guy. he takes good care of his centipede, but i think he should provide more cover/enrichment for his centipede
centipedes are beautiful, gotta love them !
What a feed in the end!!! 🍂🪳🍂 😲👏👏 Bravo, Bravo!!
Meeting Tanner from Serpa Design?!?!?!
YASSSSSSS!!!!!!! Actually been dreaming of a collab between you two lol.. sure, although critters probably don't care much for "aesthetics" (and can even make a mess of one's best naturalistically-artsy efforts lol) I know I can't wait til my T slings grow bigger and I can make cool natural enclosures for em. Already tried my hand at a vivarium setup for my aussie marbled scorpions and worked well, and really gives a sense of satisfaction. Of course, having countless T enclosures like you do makes putting in that effort a bit impractical but I do love how you're embracing that aspect more and more.
AND I hope someone like yourself can get Tanner more interested in invertebrates!!! 😁
Great video, it would be interesting to watch your centipede hunt something that has a softer exoskeleton if you have another feeding video.
Awesome centipede!!
The name of the technique, for lightly airbrushing a small amount of paint on a surface to high light it, is called dry brushing. The easiest way to dry brush is start with a towel and rub the brush across the towel til you get the correct amount of paint on the brush. Hints, the name dry brushing. You are trying to dry the brush out a little so you don't get solid coverage.
Great video
Looking good!!! 😏
The enclosure really came together in the end with sand for the texture. With the plants and the background it reminds me of ruins in a jungle, like Mayan ruins
I got to watch this before work AGAIN! I hope that is a sign of a great day!
It must be! :D
this background is super cool, I think some similar can be in some petshop. Realy profession job
So the new terrarium is nice, but it seems very brave of you to put the monster in there. I would have with the closing mechanism fear that the centipede escapes.
Awesome centipede dark den
man centipedes are so creepy yet fascinating, something in the back of my mind says nothing should have that many legs (and yet millipedes dont seem quite as creepy to me)
As a miniature painter, dry brushing is an essential part of my painting skills. Glad it translates nicely to this hobby as well!
House of horrors! 😂😅 man any intruder in your house would probably run for the door screaming. Lol
A dull green drybrush would give the appearance of moss. you can also mix your base color and some substrate into your glue [PVA/white glue works for this as well] to give the base layer more texture to highlight [or potential anchor points for webbing or vines].
Also, i'm not sure if it works on centipedes and spiders, but AntsCanada uses a mixture of baby powder diluted in rubbing alcohol, painted on the open edges of his open enclosures to prevent ants from escaping. The mixture causes them to slip
Awww.. I was hoping with the Skyrim music and the roach carrying I would think you'd name her Lydia 😂😂
Such a beautiful centipede! Love the spots on her legs 🐛
My trade is faux finishes. Your technique is perfect. Add another color or 2 and it’s perfection. Subscriber since the couch days✌️
Oh, that background turned out amazing😍 like you said, using grey and a lighter grey or bone white would match any colour substrate. But I like😊 and the feeding was fabulous. Feeding the Devil 2😊👏👏👏
A little late on the comment.
If you get some grout dye you can color the tile glue in stead of using paint so the surface will still keep its rock texture.
Mix smaller amounts and use several colors. Switch between them as you paint it on to blend them together.
I really enjoy your videos.
Your animals are so fascinating. I'm not brave enough to keep a centipede so I will just watch them on ur channel haha
Gives a whole new meaning to "dinner to go"!
You should make Giant Centipede Body Pillows
I'm not crazy about creepy crawlies, and I'm here by accident, BUT i like your passion, so accept my sub and the fact I'll be around :)
Cheers!
10/10 on that background!
I am growing a small Mediterranean banded centipede out and recently I have gotten an exceptionally large and probably female individual of the same species as well. She is a replacement for a smaller but quite friendly one that I kept for three years and then he died from molting issues. She is just like an Asian one. Sadly they hide underground and rarely eat in front of me. If the enclosure lid or door closes well, they won’t escape. Their powers are overestimated.
You may not be satisfied with the way the colors of the background and the substrate don’t entirely match, but Devil the Second’s colors really stand out in contrast with the background. What a beast! Great video.
Thats a rather chilled and well behaved centipede, compared to most other I´ve seen so far.
