Wow, I am actually interested in this unlike most things the sponsors have to offer. Thanks and happy Valentines day to you and the whole dark den family
This is one of the channels that helped me overcome my fear of spiders. As long as I have gloves on (lol) I can even hold the ones I find in my garden now!
best thing you can do is get a B. smithy, very docile, beautiful, easy to take care of, and your fear will go away in a week... Bit more brave and careful? get A. geniculata, hands down best T
I know you weren't super thrilled with that time lapse, but I thought it was really cool to watch how quickly she got to it and how busy she was! And of course, while she was being productive, the male was just over in his enclosure pooping😂 Can't wait for the livestream!🖤
Awww, you sell yourself short. I thought that time lapse was so cool! And she is so pretty with her electric blue legs. I loved being able to see how industrious she is. Hard at work digging her burrow and then webbing the whole entrance and tunnel, it was really neat to see. Kinda funny about the male, he's basically satisfied with a minimal effort, typical bachelor, lol.
Want to kill gnats? Get a small container... Poke holes in the lid, big enough for them to get in...but small enough to confuse them if they try to find their way out. Put apple cider vinegar in the container with a few drops of dish soap..(give it a quick stir) And set the container where you see the most bugs. Works like a charm. 😎👍
My son bought me one of those cameras for Christmas, a different brand, though. I spy on one of my T's with it. It has a playback for whenever motion was detected. It's pretty cool. Hope you're feeling better soon. Looking forward to Friday.
with your collection growing up, i've missed the good old rehousing videos! Awesome to see the years of your passion and care come together into all these bigger juveniles and adults in awesome glass enclosures! It's great to look back at your apartment bookshelf with the OG couch and all the little vials with slings and see those same slings from back then as big adult females today!
Used to keep Cyriopagopus but stopped because one ran up my arm and hid in my shirt during a rehouse. Not a huge deal but their unpredictable attitude AND their pet hole nature made them pretty unappealing to keep. It sucks because they’re among the best looking spiders out there. I prefer the African tarantulas because, despite their poor attitude, they grace me with their presence quite often.
That timelapse with the music was really awesome. My M. robustum dug straight down to the bottom of its enclosure in a day or two; it's the only fossorial spider I have. They're cute watching them excavate, they're so serious and determined about it. Thanks Petko!
"They're cute watching them excavate, they're so serious and determined about it." Yes I thought they really cute too, just digging away to make their little homes. They're such beautiful animals and I so enjoyed watching them work. I love that the female got right down to business, no dilly dallying for her, lol. She was very industrious, putting her little burrow together in no time. But the male was a little more blah zay about it all, not in as much of a hurry, more into taking his time and just doing a little work here and little there work there, when he felt like it. Was really interesting seeing the difference in personalities and behavior between the two.
@@beautyforashes2022 Totally agree! It was a delight watching them ^^ Also, did you mean blasé or did you just spell it like that on purpose? No shade haha I just thought it looked funny/cute
Hey Petko, thanks for great content. I can’t believe this is the first time I have heard or thought about not adding plants or leaves until the T digs out it’s burrow! So simple, yet such an elegant solution to hidden and buried decorations. Thank you for the idea. I love fossorial species, I’m always impressed with their burrows. Oh wow the time lapse for this is both impressive and satisfying. Thanks for the particularly helpful tip.
Idk why but the sight of spiders send shivers down my spine yet they are so fascinating, ironically I own a scorpion and handle it with no fear at all XD
i actually really liked the footage of the tarantulas burying, even though you called it mediocre. It's quite nice to just observe them doing their thing.
I never cared for spiders, but you and your knowledge has kept me interested. Great job and informative content. I am curious - how is Felix? Did you move his tree?
I have also a Cyriopagopus lividus, and after seeing the reaction, I´m a bit scared of rehousing mine. She is now to big for her jovie encloser and realy needs the upgrade.
I love watching these kinds of timelapse videos, so so cool! Can't wait for the first ever Dark Den Livestream, woot! Also, congrats on landing a very cool sponsor! Those products are awesome!
with tanks like this it would be cool if you did like layers of substrate with a slight colour difference like coco and then a mix of coco and top soil in layers to see the dirt piles change
I reckon your videos have educated many people who were frightened of spiders and insects to have respect and curiosity to appreciate them and you. Your passion makes great content. Thankyou.
Wow That Was Epic She Pose like that.wow that is amazing watching this so cool never saw that before and close up the door so cool thanks Dark den love it P.S cannot wait for the live
I think it would be a cool idea to get a magnet glass cleaner tool to clean the glass of the tunnels and then you can record a time lapse of the tarantula eating/molting/ digging from in the tunnels. It would be a cool video I believe.
petko you actually have helped me get over one of my worst fears i couldnt even seen pictures of any spiders or tarantulas but now im pick up spider i find in my house that the rest of my family are scared of thankyou
Nothing over dramatic, but still a very solid time lapse. Hard to believe how much a spider can burrow in that short of a time. Hope you feel better, and Happy Valentine’s to you & yours man.
I really enjoyed your talk about the sponsor! Normally i don’t like the standard talks.. but these products looks awesome! Also very nice that they just sended you some items and didn’t ask you for a scripted talk❤️ that makes it much more pure and instead of getting a “ugh” feeling I watched it completely and am verry enthousiastic 😄❤️ (sorry for my englisch) x
Congrats on the sponsorship Petko . I can't think of anyone more deserving than you . Hope you and the family is well and keep on with your keep on 🤘🏼✌🏽❤
I love the Fossorial enclosure!!! I have not collected any Fossorial T’s because it seemed sort of boring. If I could find a nice enclosure like yours I would try them. Love the plant too, it looks very pretty.
I love your videos and your joy and enthusiasm! I thought the time lapse was great! Funny that the male was kinda lazy but I lived seeing the female webbing then pushing it down onto the substrate. Thanks Petko!! ❤️
Did you know h Gigas can swim and catch small fish , can stay under water for a while as there hair trap air so there entire body and legs are in a bubble they look silver under water, I’m setting a tank up for a communal group half fresh water half soil
Congrats on the new sponsor! Also very cool timelapses of the burrowing action! I hope I manage to tune in Friday night, luckily we share a timezone, so it shouldn't be a problem :)
I really want to make an enclosure like that one. I have a a lot of fossorial tarantulas as well. Anyway, Happy Valentine's Petko and family! Also hoping that Felix is getting better. 🙏✌️♥️
I await your videos every week, it was only 17 minutes long! This week I don’t need to fret, you will be doing a live so that’s good, I am going to check on time difference as I don’t want to miss it! Thank you Petco! ❤️
The time laps was really cool. Just love those. So great to see your channel having grown so much. I've been watching from when you just started. I bought one of the cameras so I can spy on my dogs. lol Hope you get more sponsors!
I think I have the only tame cyriopagopus lividus xD I didn't plan on holding her but she bolted on to my arm when I was changing her enclosure and happily sat there for while, naturally I didn't want to move her in case she got aggressive but there's only soo long you want a T like that sat on you so I had to try and convince her to move eventually :/ with a gentle touch to her back legs from a brush she slowly crawled down my arm and on to my hand where I was able to catch a quick photo before placing her into her new home.. Granted I rarely see her but out of the 5 years I've had her she's never done a threat posture when being moved into a larger home, or when feeding/ changing the water (thankfully)
Ive always loved catching insects and bugs as a kid, I love all animals had a lot of different ones, some I caught, some I bought. Anytime I saw web somewhere I would catch a bug and throw it on the web and watch the spider. I had a Grammostola rosea When I was about 15 or 16 but my dad made me take it back, so I got a tree frog🤣 and used the plastic container the rose hair came in as a enclosure for a praying mantis I caught, she lived for around six months, I caught male, they mated she ate him laid her egg sack and died. The babies hatched in a bush in my backyard. Your videos really got me thinking about getting into keeping spiders again
Why was that Timelapse the funniest thing I’ve ever seen like 😂 female in new enclosure: explores, starts digging her burrow, webs up a feely trap thing at her door. male in new enclosure: shits on glass, not once, not twice, but three times, then webs up burrow entrance, blocking visibility and does nothing.
In Australia we only have fossorial tarantulas. And because there always hiding in there holes. We just keep lots of them 🙂 that way you will always have a couple out roaming around. I love your tanks. The tanks here for fossorial have top sliding lids and they are a pain. I will be looking into the cameras I like the idea of watching my tarantulas when I’m not at home. 🙂 Stay safe 🙏

Very very cool kit. You could do a dark den webcam of some of the enclosures. Tarantula cam!
I'm glad to see someone is finally sponsoring you...I'm terrified of spiders but for some reason I still love your videos
